Read the title.
I'm tired of feeling restrained by Christianity. I respect my religion due to the fact that, for the most part, it can do a person much more good than it can do harm.
However, there are many things, many rules that make me feel greatly restrained about what I want to do in life, and I'm honestly sick of it.
I will still believe in The LORD, but I just can't seem to completely dedicate my life to Him.
And I'll do as I please from now on, for the most part. However I WILL continue to follow certain rules stated in the Bible, such as not experiencing sex before marriage.
I've prayed sometimes, not often, I'll admit, for God to help me stay in his path completely, and I've also turned to my Christian brothers and sisters, and ALL you EVER refer to is the Bible. (No disrespect intended to the Word of God...)
"Enigma, don't worry! John this and that says to stay in his path!" "Enigma, the Lord is great!" Yada yada yada. "The Bible says that blah blah blah."
I'm going half and half, and that's all there is to it. You guys are of no help, I'm being honest, I'm sorry if I sound like an a** for saying such things.

One flaw with your idea, my friend:
You either believe in God and His Word fully, or you don't at all.
Christian beliefs and rules don't really have to restrict you as much as you think it does.
The Bible is one of the only references we have. God doesn't tell us stuff directly anymore like He used to.
Jus' sayin': It's gonna backfire on you.
(*Trying not to write this in a way that it will be taken the wrong way.*)

Well there is only one way to heaven Enigma and that is through Jesus Christ, there are no other ways man, Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."(John 14:6, just part of the verse)there's a broad way and a narrow way there's no in-between. Your way only leads to distruction. Luke 9:62And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.And what else do you want us to use? We're Christian, only the Bible has the tuth, only it has the words of God that bring about faith and tell us how to obtain life and only it shows us who God really is and how much he loves us. Enigma it's all or nothing. You just don't know God, or you would be so mezmorized by him and so terrified that you would give it all up for him, you would love the Lord. Any true Christian wouldn't leave the Lord. I mean where else will you go? As paul washer said, Christianity is not hard, it's a delight! You get to be free from the power of sin.(we're still in the flesh so we are still going to sin but we repent and try not to do so again, you can overcome it but we just keep going back, it's our choice) Why would you want to be a liar, a hater, an unloving, adultarer, murderer, etc.(just naming sins, not yours exactly), it's an hounor to be with the Lord for we are not worthy of anything after all the vile wicked creatures we are and we are no less wicked than mass-murders. Here watch this it's pretty Good, pretty encouraging biggrin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1GgGyV8ZQc

I'm not at all sure what in your life is troubling your spirit, Enigma. I had gone through the same mind set of half and half - and it lasted for about 10 years in total. And, to this very day, I am still unable to recover completely from the choices that I had made. My policy of "cherry picking" or half and half soon turned to one side = complete abandonment of God. All I can give you is a word of encouragement and a warning. Coming from experience, there is no one problem or life situation that the Bible cannot answer. All we truly need is in what God has said and what he wants for us as we live on. To even partially reject or blemish one part of the word leads to the eventual decay of the faith. Everyone feels the pull and tug as we go through life. One part of us wants rebellion (even if it doesn't appear that way to us in a form of self deception), and the other side wants the spirit to move forward to follow God. This is the essential battle of all people in this lifetime, that ends in making a choice. In the end, that choice is the only thing that matters. I hope God guides you in the light of Jesus Christ to see truth, illuminate evil, and expunge all doubts. Amen. Be well.

His death was not in vain. You cannot serve two Gods, the bible tells us that satan is the God of this world. It's either the light, or the darkness. Do not turn down now because later can be too late. Don't have one foot in and one foot out because He who dwells in glory knows all, He knows everything you do and think, and you might hide everything or anything from anyone, but from God there is not even a cave where He won't follow you into.

Sorry for quoting this whole thing..I felt like it was the only way to get your attention...inbox me when you get this and have read it. I once experienced the same thing you are now experiencing.. Christianity is hard. So much red tape and your fellow christians want to constantly point to some word that says you have to do this..no questions asked. i questioned God. "why do you want to keep putting me under this microscope and constantly disecting me as if to find some new discovery?" "why can't i live my life the way I want to? the only thing you want me to do is for you? and your selfish...its never about me!" he often would answer..but it never sounded good... i finally came to the point as a selfish and bitter child who holds their breath when they dont get their way...or completely rebels and does as they wish any way. i told God to answer my prayers or id kill myself... and that didnt work... but not because he didnt love me, but because i didnt deserve it at all. i mean dont get me wrong. the word of God should be our pathway. every single rule we should follow.. however... we are all different and God will make us to be individuals... some people can curse and it not be a sin, however, for others He may decide that for them it isnt good. God is wise..and HE loves us all. He would never take us to something unless he was gonna bring us through it. i may not have much to offer you. but what little i have i give. God's word does say to either be hot or cold, but if your in between He doesnt even want you. [loves you with all of his heart, but he doesnt want you cut in half... look at it like this. sinning and living for God and being "on the fence" is like standing with one foot on one side of a set of rail road tracks and the other on the otherside....sooner or later a train will hit you if you dont pick a side and stay there. God loves you. and you know that. but rebellion is a biggie with him. and when you tell God what your gonna do its like smacking him in the face. he doesnt want just half or 3/4s of your heart. he wants your entire heart, mind, soul, and being. the path you take is up to you. as long as you remember how to get back. but be not mocked... this does not mean you can travel back and forth... sooner or later you will leave and the path hoe will be blocked from you...

YourReallyPretty IV we are all different and God will make us to be individuals... some people can curse and it not be a sin, however, for others He may decide that for them it isnt good. I disagree with you here. God holds each and every one of His children to the same standard. We are all under the same Law and we are all expected to follow the Word. There is no exceptions or excuses as to why someone is able to do something and it not be considered a sin, while others will be held guilty of committing that very same sin.

Sheep are innate followers and very easily led astray. . . . . .
But unlike other animals, it has no sense of direction and no instinct for finding its way home

I'm not going to tell you what's right or wrong but I will tell you this. you're either all in or all in, hot or cold there is no lukewarm. I understand your frustration but try not to focus on the religious side as much but focus on KNOWING God. KNOWING Him like you KNOW your friend, meeting Him, talking to Him. He doesn't want relgion Pslam 51:16-17 Quote: You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. He wants your pain, to hold you close to His heart. But He's not going to pull you one way or another. It's up to to you but before you decide you're "half in and half out" put aside religion and all that stuff for just one night and actually try to meet God. I'm not talking about "Praying" "reading your bible" no talk to Him like He were standing in front of you as a physical person. Tell Him anything you want. Tell him You're angry with all the religious stuff and you're tired of people telling you what to do. Tell Him you're tired of all the crap people give you. Be honest with Him. and then wait and let Him speak. If you still want to try this half and half thing go for it! but He'll be waiting when you're ready to run in His arms.

Ever Servant Agent of Enigma I've prayed sometimes, not often, I'll admit, for God to help me stay in his path completely, and I've also turned to my Christian brothers and sisters, and ALL you EVER refer to is the Bible. When someone has a question about God, we consult Him. yes the Word is important but sometimes when people are struggling they want to hear I love you and I'm praying for you. The scripture is the Word of God powerful and active but sometimes we need to put aside the word and just let go. Put aside all the religious stuff and really know God. Nobody wants the word thrown at them. Which is sounds like he has had alot of. Sometimes you just need to know that someone cares for you and isn't quoting mindless scripture. When someone says I need help they don't want to hear Scripture Scripture Scripture Scripture Scripture Scripture have a nice day! they would want to hear ya I know how or you're feeling it's tough but hey I'm with you and we're going to get through this together. Or I don't know how you feel right now but I still care. remember * scripture* (if even nescarily.) The Word is our source but just like any weapon we have to learn how to use it. It's not meant for just throwing out scriptures at somebody.

The focus of christianity isnt so much the rules...God made those rules to give us a guideline...we break these rules everyday whether we ar econtious or not of it...if we have a relationship with God, as a father...as a friend...thts the point here...not the rules although they are important
