Moody
Salem is a very moody person. His mood can swing on a dime, one minute he can be peacefully talking to you, the next he'll be offended by nothing. As a result of this, he can become very intolerable at times. Even the people who are closest to him will admit that he can be outright insane at times. His moods are almost always extreme, and way out of place for the situation. Though his heart is typically in the right place. His actions just don't follow correctly.



Childish
Salem is also very childish. He is easily distracted and very easy to entertain. Many things go over his head because of this, though sometimes he just pretends it does. It also makes for a very energetic personality. Both on stage an off. He's like a little hurricane of energy, he doesn't stop. This is another thing that can make him very annoying.



Self Conscious
Though Salem may seem to be all confidence and bubbles he's actually quite the opposite. He has a very negative self image and acts out in destructive ways. Most of them are pretty secretive, though a few of them have been unfairly exposed to all the wrong people. It makes it easier for him to cope with a body he hates if he's constantly damaging it. Yes, he lives fast.



Prankster
Salem loves to pull pranks on people. From the simple to the complex, they give him great joy. It also provides attention that he feeds on, albeit often negative. Many times his pranks hurt people around him, others the victim is a complete stranger. But every time, he laughs seemingly uncontrollably and obviously takes great joy in it.

The Beginning
Salem was born into a rather hectic life. His family was constantly moving all over the U.S. as his father was a photographer for print ads. He had a hard time making friends, because he was always the new kid. Salem's mother was a stay at home mom and he loved her dearly. However his dad was never really around and as a child it just made him feel sad. Salem felt like his dad stayed gone because he wasn't good enough. Because he was worthless. His destructive tendencies started at this young age, he was still just a small child. When his father was around, he spent most of his time with Salem's mother instead of Salem. Salem could never understand why. But the truth was that Salem's father never wanted a child, his mother had simply talked him into it. Because of all these things, Salem was a very hyperactive child and would do nearly anything for attention anywhere he went.


The Teen Years
When Salem turned thirteen, he began to discover his sexuality. He realized that he had no interest in girls like the other boys did, instead he liked the boys. He had never been introduced to alternative sexualities before and this simply contributed to his negative self image. He thought he was broken, and would never be accepted by anyone.

Eventually, as he got older, he discovered that he wasn't an anomaly and began dating at age 15. Soon, his mother discovered that the boys coming over to spend the night, weren't just pals. Yes, she walked in on Salem having sex at 16. He was forced to come out to his parents. His father disowned, telling him that he had to get out of the house and that he didn't want to hear from him again. His mother padded his pocket with cash though as a teenager, he burned through it quickly.

Salem ended up spending the rest of his teenage years in a youth home for gay teenagers. It was hard for him and he became a bulimic in this youth home. He also began doing drugs and was raped while under the influence multiple times. Again, this only contributed to the negative self image.


Recently
Salem is the lead singer and back up guitarist in a band called the Death Dolls that has recently shot to fame. They play mostly gothic metal [think, cradle of filth]. He sings and plays guitar. The praise has helped him, though his problems still persist. It has also provided him with the money for his drug problem to blow up. He also drinks to excess and is still an active bulimic. Additionally, he is now addicted to body modification and has modified many parts of his appearance to make himself happier. Deep down he hopes his father will see what a success he's become and want to be in his life again, and that would probably improve his self image drastically, though it will probably never happen.
