Personality: As his namesake would suggest, Rebel was born to be different. He has an independent soul and will never take kindly to authority of any sort. He often finds it difficult to get along with others, preferring to remain in solitude rather than adapting to someone else's way. Quick tempered and hot headed, this wolf is no stranger to the fight. Though he is rather skilled in battle from much practice, his headstrong cockiness does make him overly sure of himself, which sometimes can lead to him biting off more than he can chew. Experience has not yet taught him to be careful with who or what he challenges.
Judging only on appearances, his gruff exterior may indeed cause others to think he is a mean and nasty wolf. His dark, coarse fur grew to be unmanageable even for grooming, giving him the wild look of a wolf with his hackles raised. This is fine for his "image", as far as Rebel is concerned, he thinks it makes him look tough. And being tough, plus having other animals think you're tough, is imperative for survival. However, past the thug-like mindset, this wolf has a big heart. He will try his utmost to keep that secret hidden, for fear that it will make him look weak. At present, he has been able to keep others at arm's length so they will never come to truly know his heart. -Scary Face-

[History] 3.  Everybody has a life story, and this one begins on a cold winter night. Well, technically it was June, but it was a cold night in June up in the Northern mountains. A worried, scruffy male wolf could be seen pacing outside of a den where, inside, his mate Laufey was in the process of birthing his pups. Unfortunately, all was not to be well. The puppies, three in number, were born sickly. All but one perished that night. The mother died, inexplicably, a few days after the birth. Another member of the Sure-Claw clan stepped forward to assist with the task of feeding the one remaining pup until he was old enough to wean. The father, Farbauti, was inconsolable following his mate's sudden death, but he managed to persevere. To the only remaining pup they gave the name Rebel, because he had defied the fate given to his siblings and mother in order to survive.
Growing up in the mountainous Northern region proved both hazardous and wonderful to young Rebel. He always liked to sneak away from the shelter of his den to go exploring, play-fighting with other wolves his age, or to practice his hunting skills. His father had developed a strong protectiveness over his only son, but being a stern and gruff wolf by nature, he had many clashes with the reckless pup. While Farbauti found his son to be uncontrollable and in need of firm discipline, Rebel resented his father's attempts to rein him in, and he spent much effort avoiding or flat-out defying his rules.
Not too long had passed before Rebel grew into adolescence, and the tensions between him and Farbauti had built up to a dangerous level. It seemed as though every measure of defiance sent Farbauti into a rage, prompting him to lash out at whatever was near and unlucky enough to be in his way. Rebel had learned to be crafty and shrewd enough to avoid the brunt of his father's scolding, but this was not always the case. One night, after a particularly heated argument, the son challenged the father to a fight. Farbauti, having been revered in the Sure-Claw clan as a warrior, should have listened to his inner voice telling him to back down from this fight. Farbauti did not wish to hurt his son, but he had thought it would be an opportunity to teach Rebel some much-needed respect for others. Rebel was young, foolhardy, and brash; he struck first. They fought. Although the father won, he sustained an injury to his foreleg that would leave him with a limp for the rest of his life. Rebel was the loser, but his physical wounds would heal. His pride, however, took a massive blow.
As the Great Packs congregated to decide what was to be done about the Darkness, Rebel elected to stay behind. Farbauti did not. That was the last Rebel has seen of his father to this day. Having grown restless with the Northern territory, he now ventures South to find out what happened to the members of the Great Packs that went to confront the Darkness.
