He acknowledged Icarus with a flick of one ear, the other firmly on the gathering ahead of them. "Was it? The fae is stronger than she seems, then." Sjunheal wondered how a wolf who looked so... insubstantial... fought; but he let that go, to serve as amusement for another day. "A threesome is a bit unusual, but nothin' so much; and fightin' a fae means nothin' at all." Sjun shrugged. "A lesson in etiquette for you, lad: in the mountains, a warrior is a warrior. Brute or fae doesn't matter a whit, as long as you keep up the fight, you're jus' the same as any other."
Sjun turned to look at him now, noting the hurt in his features. "It's the young ones that're the trouble. Y'see, when a warrior becomes an adult, that warrior must face a right of combat - a moment when all around them hail them as the beast they are, defender of all about them. Before that, a warrior is not a warrior at all; he is unseasoned. To do battle, true battle, with an unseasoned warrior i' shameful. Had A'cuil laid a single paw on you, he would've done wrong. He would've dishonored himself, and disgraced us all - his pater and mum, me, all of his pack."
He looked away, and shook his head. "That's the old way, anyway, and one that foxbrain believed too deep in. Probably went berserker durin' the fight, and that's not his way. Makes sense what happened to 'im. But dead?" Sjunheal chuckled outright, the corners of his snout turning up as he took another step toward the clearing.

Clio's ears twitched as she listened to Faiyrn introducing the new-comer who she could hear faintly. She jumped from her laying down position as she learned he was a Bear Clawed Giant. A grin sprawled across her face as she realized only one wolf of the Sure-Claws bore such a description. Not wanting to appear too eager, she padded slowly into the direction, stopping once she had reached about halfway through the clearing.
She inhaled deeply, hoping to catch the scent of the mountains. The other Sure-Claws still had the smell of home lingering in their fur, but it was slowly disappearing. There ist was. The musky scent of rocks and mountains, rugged almost. Her grin grew wider as images of her youth returned to her. Even though she was a Hunter rather than a Warrior, she had learned many tricks from the strong bear-clawed wolf. He had not taught her on as many occasions as he had A'cuil, but enough times that she remembered him still.
For a moment, her ears flattened as she remembered A'cuil. She doubted Sjunheal would have known about the brute, unless someone had told him before hand. Clio intended to tell him herself if he was still unaware. She passed over the image of A'cuil in her mind and returned to excited state. Clio appeared to have had her mind transported back into the times of when she was an eager adolescent, ready to learn.
Icarus listened to the wolf intently. He had not meant that Faiyrn was supposed to be weak, or a lesser warrior in any way. He had experienced her very power not long ago. Still, he simply nodded. He'd rather not question A'cuil's teacher.
Icarus hung his head, truly understanding now. A'cuil must have been ripping himself apart inside as Icarus tore at him outside. His heart clenched, realizing that he should not have fought A'cuil. Yet, here he was, Alpha. The position he had expected the Sure-Claw brute to achieve had become his because of honor. He sighed deepy and rose his head as they neared the clearing, realizing just how small he was in comparison to the monster-like wolf beside him.
It was only a few more steps and they'd be in the clearing. Icarus breathed deeply, setting aside his insecurities and walked a few paces forward. As the pair of wolves broke the edge of the clearing, Icarus said, "Sjunheal, welcome to the new pack." His voice was even and full of pride. Cerulean eyes fell for a moment on the clearly excited Clio and he realized that all should be fine.

Staring at Oghren with a sort of 'uh huh' sort of look then looked at Kora. "Fairyn walked off with Icarus." His voice held a snarl of jealousy. Not that he expected Fairyn to run off with the alpha but the concern on her face was something that struck a chord with him. "Not that she'd go with him like she has with me but. It just hurt. Its hard, I'm still unsure. I love her very much and I don't doubt her feelings and affections are the same, but it bothered me." Did Kora understand how he felt?

Kora could barely resist a chuckle, the only thing keeping it in was the way she knew 'Dragos must feel about it. Oh, her poor father! They had almost been adolecents when he had arrivied, so of course he wouldn't know. "Icarus and Faiyrn... I can understand that you would feel that way, but Faiyrn thinks of him like a close friend's pup. Almost family, but not quite." she explained.
"I'm sure Icarus must be nervous, and Faiyrn is just telling him it will be all right."

Shaking his big head to clear his thoughts he looked at her. "I know. It just bothered me. For me to mull over such a thing, it must be silly. Icarus is a good wolf, and a good leader, but he is just starting out. Its definitely stressful. Were I in his place I would be stressed with having to take care all of these wolves. There are far to many to get the one-on-one time with that needs to happen and more keeping coming in. He can't take them all in, but turning them away...." Kora could see where he was going with this. "However its all still new to him and he will grow into the role. Even if he doesn't feel ready, he is."
He grinned at Kora, "Shall we walk back together?" As he started forward only slightly. "Maybe Fairyn and Icarus are back?"

Faiyrn was sitting a few feet away from every one else. She seemed distracted, worried.. maybe a little shocked. Marie was still with Liliana and she was watching them, but her attention was not on them fully. She heard Kora and Andragos approaching and she looked up, replacing the expression of worry with a well rehearsed smile. She had been told that Andragos had peeled out looking none to happy when she left, so she was also hoping he wasn't upset.

Holding his head up he looked at her. He wouldn't let his worries get in the way of everything he had began to build with Fairyn. Dismissing himself from Kora's side he went to Fairyn and licked her cheek. "How was your talk with the alpha? Icarus looked worried." He could tell that stress had been getting to the young male. He was not as weathered as the others here. "Any word on A'cuil?" he asked gingerly.

Grey and brown paws plodded through the forest at a slow pace, though the wolf belonging to them kept his head held high to not betray his inner feelings. Being part of this new pack was something that Rebel would have never imagined for himself. As a younger wolf, he would often entertain the thought of leaving the Sure-Claw pack where he had been raised, but he always envisioned himself striking out as a loner. He could never get the sour taste out of his mouth at the thought of humbling himself before some praised leader. That had not changed, but now Rebel was an older adolescent, and he realized his former naivety at thinking he could be a successful lone wolf.
He knew that this group of wolves, many of them strangers, had come together out of necessity just as much as desire. Rebel had little desire to be part of this pack, but he knew what was necessary for survival. A pack could bring down much more plentiful prey than a loner ever could, even if he hunted all day and all night. And then there was the benefit of safety in numbers. He was not a stupid wolf. He no longer wished to be completely alone.
The pack was noticeably getting bigger though, as more wolves wandered along and joined up with them. Rebel sat near the edge of the clearing and peered around with his usual slitted eyes. He was only fond of a pawful of those he could recognize. A'cuil being absent was particularly striking here. This was the place that Rebel had first joined the group, where A'cuil had first noticed him from their old pack. Now there were new members that Rebel had not glimpsed before the alpha tournament, and he briefly wondered if their new large pack would move on from this place, to find new territory or train together. He knew that the Darkness was on the minds of many wolves, and it had been mentioned that they were organizing for the purpose of strengthening themselves against that enemy... whatever "it" was.
He looked over the old faces and the new ones-- in particular, Rebel's eyes were drawn to the huge bear-like wolf being introduced by Icarus. He remembered hearing stories about a legendary wolf with the size and strength of a bear, who fought and behaved as a bear in combat, but Rebel was too young to ever have met him. He hadn't really believed the stories until now.

((Yay, Prince biggrin )) It felt as though Kitsch had only taken a few steps before voices could be audible through the forest. Kitsch quickened his pace, curious at the sounds he heard. Some were strikingly familiar. It was the moment that he lost his focus that a golden pup popped up in front of them. This youngster was older than himself, perhaps on the verge of adolescents, but they each had a familiar build... and a familiar scene. Another Flyer?!
His pink eyes lit up as the golden wolf approached him. He seemed friendly, and Kitsch did the same. His tail was neutral, but wagged with excitement. He turned his ears to give a submissive look to his face. He did not want to be rude on another's territory. However he had the largest grin on his face. He had seen so many wolves. Finally... something familiar... something that reminded him of home.
But was he lost? "I'm not sure," he said embarrassed. "I think you need to have a destination in order to be lost." Kitsch had been wandering a long time, and his body looked it. He wasn't sure what he was looking for. But maybe he finally found it. "I'm Kitsch," he said with a smile and took another friendly step forward, his tail wagging vigorously.

Sjunheal was still chuckling as he stepped past Icarus, into the clearing proper. Part of him was used to the stares he knew that he would garner; and part of him was still amused by the pup pack Alpha. It would be nothing short of an amusement to watch him grow, or shrivel, before the duties expected of him.
But Sjun had to give him credit: what a pack he had won. It was the most massive gathering of wolves he had ever seen for only one leader. And varied they were, too: he could easily pluck out the solid builds of Sure-Claw wolves - and Icarus was right, how few there were! The bearwolf gave Clio a broad wink. There were the lean forms of what Sjun assumed were Flyers, and the varied former members that the huge male associated, by elimination, with Haven. He said nothing as wide brown eyes looked over the congregation.
Aye, he had to admit, he had been prepared for a crowd... but not for anything quite like this melee.

"The Conversation? It was.. different... Informative... and Yeah, he's worried. He's young and he's in a stressful position. He needed someone to vent on... I see him as a little brother, so I was concerned. Sorry for disappearing." she said softly, nuzzling him gently.

"As long as he is feeling better." Replied Andragos and then licked her cheek again. "Now I've been rather rude." He bent down tot he ground and let Oghren off his back who looked at bit more pale than normal. "This is Oghren. He's like Olek and my dear friend. Sorry buddy, I was sort of in the middle of something. And Oghren, this is my mate, Fairyn. You heard me talk about her with my daughter, Ko-" He was cut off by the red spikey turtle who. "I can tell who she is Andragos." His tone a bit snippy before calming as he pressed his head against the ground gingerly. "Forgive my rudeness ma'am. A turtle's place is on the ground not in the sky. Its rather terrifying. I will humble myself to ride him like some common animal, but for moving quickly, its nice." He was never going to get used to riding the black male and shuddered to think he would. Like he said, a turtle's place is on the ground. "Now you keep speaking of an Olek, but I don't see him... Is he another wolf?"

xxxxxClio's eyes went wide as the bear wolf padded into the clearing. To her, he had appeared to shrink, however, in the past she had been much smaller. All the same, he looked like the large teddy bear she knew he was. As he passed her with a wink she realized that she had been recognized. Her tail wagged as she was glad her teacher remembered her even after all this time.
She could see the surprise in his eyes, for she was well aware that this group was massive. That contributed to why she felt awkward in the group. So many wolves that she did not know. She was grateful for the handful of Sure-Claws, but she didn't know many of them either. Faces she remembered were A'cuil -she winced at this thought-, Rebel, and she had heard Paden was nearby but had yet to see him. Clio did not know that it was so difficult to strike up a conversation with the wolves of other packs.

Icarus smiled at his group of wolves. Most he knew, but there were still so many faces that were new. He breathed a sigh of relief that he had Faiyrn thinking about the second pack, praying she would accept the challenge. It would ease the entire community of wolves if there were to be two different groups. While it would separate some of them, they'd be able to live a spacious life. He idly wondered who would leave him for Faiyrn.
He looked up at the bear wolf and rumbled lightly by his expression. Icarus noted that he seemed to acknowledge Clio's presence, which made him glad that the bear had a familiar face among the group.
Olek flitted through the trees. Word of the turtle spirit had begun to make its way over the forest. He had not caught the chance to speak with the creature that had bonded itself to 'Dragos as he had Icarus. He chirped lightly, scanning the floor of the forest for the spiritual being.

The male trotted around the area, watching the others with his lone crimson eye. He took in everyone and he sized them up. Reading their personalities. His gaze rest on the strange colored wolves throughout the clearing from the large brown male to the blue and black warrior and his odd turtle then two a bright orange male and a spotted female. Such an odd group of wolves. The small purple pup skipped around the area, her tail high and her eyes bright with mischief. She wanted to play and find someone to pester! She always had a knack for it. Never knew why she got in so much trouble but she loved the thrill. Her lime green eyes gazed at every movement, her ears perked to every sound. Sound...? She heard it. There in the trees. Voices. Who was there?

Faiyrn smiled and nodded her head in greeting to Oghren. "Hello!" she looked around and notticed that the Bear-Claw seemed to be settling in alright. She licked Andragos' cheek and nosed Oghren before saying, "I have a meeting to make, so I'm going to go, I'll be back later Andragos." and she fled through the trees in the direction of the lake.
