Thea's mind was gray and fuzzy. She didn't feel good. She felt awful. She had been feeling awful for...a long time...

Thea was starving--she hadn't kept anything down in days.

She blearily noted some tree that marked the edge of Lunarie lands. She had been gone for far too long...

She just couldn't take it anymore--the shell of Ari that had taken over her once somewhat happy Elder combined with the death of Kazuki combined with everyone in the Tribe taking it so hard had been too much for the poor vixen to take.

And now she didn't feel good, and she needed help--she needed a friend.

She heard voices, so she headed that way. "Ari? I need..." Thea's legs were shaking so much she was having trouble staying standing, but she needed Ari...

"Ari...?" Thea tried again, casting about for him, her Elder, she needed him.

"Please...?" Must stay conscious...need Ari...

He had been talking with Hala--but the guardian had disappeared nearly as soon as Thea showed up. Possibly because it thought it'd be impolite to eavesdrop. Ari didn't know, didn't care.

"Thea? What's wrong?" which was a stupid question, because it looked like everything was wrong with her. Like him, except his everything was on the inside, not the outside.

He was suddenly wishing Hala hadn't decided to so suddenly take off.

"Come on, let's go find Nato."

Thea shook her head, planting her feet--didn't want Nato, didn't want...

"Can't," Thea panted out, finally letting her feet give out beneath her. Couldn't go any further, couldn't move...needed...

"Ari..." Thea said plaintively, looking up at him. "Don't feel...right..."

Somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew she should know what was wrong with her. Because something was very wrong.

"Something...not right..." Thea whimpered again, her breath labored now--she hadn't spoken in...how long had it been? She didn't know. She didn't know what she wanted Ari for, or what she thought he could do.

"Need you..."

Thea was curled up under one of the trees, watching her Tribe that she'd missed so much, and she couldn't relax--she jumped at every noise, her heart pounded every time someone spoke...

And she knew what was wrong now. She was...she was pregnant. What she didn't know was how, when or by who...or even if she was happy about it. What did Ari think? Did he think she was just some whore? Did he think less of her?

She certainly thought less of herself. Why couldn't she remember? Who was it? Who was the father? When had...

"Deities above..." Thea whispered, close to tears. Again. She hated this.

He had so much to catch up on with the tribe, after...he tried to not think about it, about how he had been a zombie for months, and especially not about the news that had caused it. He was starting to get rather good at that.

But the he had to deal with the present issues of the tribe, too. Like the ones Thea was having...

He went over to her side. She had been so withdrawn, he was starting to worry about her.

"Are you doing okay? Do you need anything?"

Thea looked up at him and tensed slightly, but willed herself to relax, at least a little. This was Ari.

"No," Thea admitted pathetically. "I'm not okay," Her voice petered out into a whimper on the last word, and she instantly felt ashamed, but at the same time, she didn't care. Thea was just so tired...

"I don't know what I need, Ari," Thea continued, her voice no more than a pathetic whisper, breaking in places.

"I'm...I'm sorry I l-left..." Thea managed, looking firmly away from him, down at the ground.

"I sh-should've stayed here..." Thea said, again cursing herself. "Wanted to f-find S-Sigal and T-Twilight..."

And then, finally, she looked up at him.

"I...I don't know what...what to do." Thea admitted in a pathetic whisper. "I don't,"

Ari curled his bushy tail around the girl, drawing her into him, comforting her.

"Wanted to find Sigal and Twilight why...?"

No, focus on Thea's problems now, wonder about her plans with his daughters later. He really wanted to do it the other way around, but he made himself, made himself do it the right way.

Thea having a breakdown before his very eyes might have helped that a little...

"It's going to be alright," he promised her, pointedly not thinking about how Rina wouldn't lie, how Rina wouldn't delude a tribe member--this was his tribe, not hers! "You'll have your kits, and they'll grow up here safe and sound and cared for by the whole tribe--but especially by you."

"S-so they c-could help you..." Thea said, her voice muffled by his fur. She finally let herself close her eyes and relax a little--his fluffiness reminded her of Conundrum...Oh, 'Deities above, her children (she was *pregnant*!) were going to be just like Conny and Ricky and she had been, all alone...

"B-but I don't know who the f-father is," Thea whimpered pathetically against him, curling up as tight as she could with her pregnant belly getting in the way.

"It w-wasn't s-supposed to h-happen like t-this, Ari..."

Somewhere in the back of her exhausted, stressed out, pregnant mind, she knew she shouldn't be crying against her Elder's side like some stupid pathetic....stupid pathetic person.

"'M sorry," Thea mumbled halfheartedly against him, and yet made no move to leave. Part of her wanted to believe him when he said everything would be okay, but the rational (rational being a loose word in relation to her mental state) side of her mind knew that he was just trying to make her feel better.

"'M sorry," Thea repeated even quieter than before.

"It's never supposed to happen 'like this', but it does anyway, and maybe it'll turn out alright in the end, like with Sigal and Twilight." But he had at least known about Heartbreak...

For all the little good that did. Their sole contact was the day he had gone to pick up Sigal, when she was still in her BCR--he hadn't heard a thing from her since.

"Don't worry about the father, just focus on your kits. You can still care for them just fine without knowing who he is."
