Many of us in this guild hail The Official Pokemon Guild as a major hangout spot. We are big fans of the video games and affiliated aspects of the franchise.
People from there have known I've become a World of Warcraft raider in the past year. I played the game off and on for a while, but now I'm part of the social "casual" demographic (though aspire to be a goblin rational). Especially while I'm still unemployed, I play a hell of a lot and raid three to four nights a week.
Suddenly the Pokemon people make comments to me as though I've turned to heroin. stressed
Pokemon people. Particularly the ones who froth at the mouth against the hardcore play of Smogon (they do play what they want, they just want to win) and crash the flash memory of their game cards after 500 hours of recorded play. Recorded play, that does not count those who, like me, have cried in their sleep over soft reset montages. These are the ones who QQ at hackers in the debate over what's digital convenience and role-play mysticism.
tl;dr - Do you ever just want to punch a Pokemon fan in the mouth when they condescend you for your not-Pokemon fun?

Hacking is a convenience. That is all.
And the answer to your question is "yes".

WoW people spend a lot of time going over the hardcare/casual debacle as much as Pokemon people. The hardcore spend more time thinking about the game, while the casual spend more time playing to gather shiny trinkets and other things that do not contribute to the core gameplay. Competitive battling is still metagame, but then the developers encourage this with Battle Frontier challenges that require knowledge of competitive battling to attempt, while they've eased off on the "catch 'em all" requirements for game progression.
This is less conversation, more rant, but I feel this is the place to share these thoughts. It is interesting that the games I play most share similarities like this.

To be honest, I don't find Pokemon as much fun anymore. Sure, I got SoulSilver, but I went and got the Japanese version with an English patch last year, so now it's just... ehhh.
Plus my friends here don't really play it, so yeah. Brawl is the closest thing to Pokemon we play together. And when I'm on my own, it's Phoenix Wright, or some other RPG for the DS.

I mostly only play pokemon, but some of my friends play other stuff, WoW included. We all play about the same amount of everything, though.
sad i wish i had more friends who played pokemon as much as i do.
I almost got in a fight with a friend a long time ago, 'cause she was a Hard-core casual player, and i was a soft-core Competitive player... And she told me that i was playing the game wrong :/

I think I've turned from Pokemon with how frustrating it is to really play if you do want to play competitively. Especially if you want to do so without Shoddy Battle and have fun with breeding in-game. Then you're ready to head out into the WiFi world with a team you've spend a couple weeks stringing together, then find out the team would be way better if four of them were rebred, retrained, blah... gonk
In WoW you just spend a bit of gold to reallocate talent builds, gem/enchant arrangement, maybe a new gun... Boom! You're twice as powerful as before and did not have to start the whole character over.
There are just things a Pokemon game cannot do. crying

I've been a Pokefan since the games were first released but I play and enjoy a huge variety of other games. I encourage others too. Wilhemina, play WoW until the power supply in your computer melts and whatever else you want to play.

I've never encountered such a problem. It sounds like you're just hanging around jerks. The reaction I get is more like "Oh cool! you like Pokemon and _________." Never played in the WOW scence but it sounds fun if you avoid all the sleaze balls and bulls#it.
