"Order" is such a misleading word. For us, it usually means PIZZA PARTY WOOHOO!

The story of our heroes has taken an unfortunate turn.

Beset by intrigue and deception. Subject already, after so little time, to fatality and grief. The leaders of our Order, previously so unshakeable, begin to fall apart at the hands of their own demons.

It seems we have no hope to salvage the greatness that once was.

Yet, as we shall soon see... as shall be proven to us once and for all... miracles can come in the most unlikely, the most misunderstood, the blackest of forms...

~~~~~~~~~
Cressa, a drow sorceress, arrived on the island to visit her old friend, our Captain. She managed to cause a little chaos on the first day, but, in part due to Jessie's efforts to keep her away from the main body of humans, didn't manage anything major. The next morning, however, told a different story.
Having fled from the devastated Temple, the drow are now seeking a means by which to redeem themselves to the humans of the Order - namely, by retrieving the true Overseer from whichever rock he may have crawled under.
Characters
User Image
Cressa is magician who works her magic by tapping into the natural energies in the environment and within her own body. She is also proficient in swordplay.
She is unpredictable and wild, mainly self-interested but incredibly devoted to Jessie, with whom she shares a special bond. She's also light-fingered and apparently completely lawless, easily provoked and bad-tempered. People tend to dislike her due to her arrogance and temperamental nature. Her abilities give her insight, but she augments this with skills of intelligent guessing, reading reactions and bluffing to unnerve her opponents with her apparent knowledge of their lives.
Her speciality lies in sensing the energies around a person or object. This allows her to discern a certain number of traits about this thing, among other skills associated with being attuned to energies such as tracking and scrying. She is also highly proficient in polymorphing (that is, taking on a whole new physical form), and though she is experienced in teleporting she sometimes loses her focus, leading to mishaps.
Cressa's hobbies include drinking, singing and reading fashion magazines. Her pet peeve is when things don't go her way.
User Image
Corie is Cressa's familiar, a black slaad who takes the form of a crow.
Corie is an exceedingly powerful extradimensional entity, capable of shifting between different realities at whim and often appearing absent as a result of this. Her magical powers lie mainly over fire and ice, and her crow form is practically indestructible. She will generally aim to cause as much unhappiness as possible, but is capable of great affection towards both her mistress and Jessie.
Her slaad form is sometimes used as a "trump card" in dire situations.
Corie enjoys making people suffer and playing games of logic with Cressa. She doesn't have a pet peeve.
User ImageJessie is a warrior capable of using many different weapons to great effect, but whose speciality and preference is swords and daggers.
Level-headed and seemingly unshakeable, his cool exterior belies an extremely complicated and emotional inner consciousness. He is rational, quick-witted and good at making wise decisions, difficult to provoke and impossible to seduce. People are charmed by his genuinely kind nature, powerful personality and good looks.
He is exceedingly dexterous and agile, capable of easily avoiding enemy attacks. His knowledge of different martial techniques and vast experience in battle allows him to quickly judge weaknesses in an enemy and gain the upper hand. He has high stamina but low constitution and a light frame, which leaves him vulnerable to injury if placed in a situation where he cannot dodge attacks - for example, when held by an immobilising trap.
Jessie is a fantastic dancer who enjoys poetry and music. His pet peeves are too numerous to list here.
Explanation
User Image
This event is basically a Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) story.
You take direct control over the actions of Jessie.
Every post made here will come with a set of options for what to do in order to advance.
Who gets to choose the action taken depends on a sort of competition based on luck here in the discussion thread. The rules for this will be explained below.
Due to the indirect nature of the event, it is open to non-roleplayers as well as roleplayers.
Note that all potential paths have already been prepared in advance. I will not skew things favourably. What happens, happens, and therefore your choices are incredibly important.
There are choices which result in serious injury and death.
This means that you must be very careful and attempt to choose the best possible actions! When it is ambiguous, as it often will be, discuss the best course of action amongst yourselves!
Try hard, or risk a wasted effort!
~~~~~~~~~

The event is divided up into a series of scenarios.

The beginning or end of a scenario basically means the beginning or end of a choice tree.

How many scenarios it takes to complete the event is entirely down to your choices.

The choices you make have relevance not only now but for the future. For example, helping a character now may result in their reappearance in the roleplay during later chapters. Killing a character may have grave and far-reaching consequences.

In present terms, goings-on in the Finding can and will influence goings-on in the regular roleplay (which shall continue as normal) as the two progress, and vice versa.

To give you an idea of how your choices have affected things in the long run, I may give a run-down of situations which have been changed due to your actions at the end of each scenario, if this proves to be a popular idea.

The one certainty is that the Finding will take place over a period of three roleplay weeks.

~~~~~~~~
But how do we KNOW what the best action will be?!
Sometimes it will be obvious. Sometimes it won't. Sometimes it will be the action Jessie would usually take. Sometimes it will be the action which he would never normally take in a million years.
To help you along, the players collectively have FIVE tokens which may be cashed in in return for a hint...
User Image
Once one has been used, it can never be reclaimed. This post will be updated to keep you up to date on how many tokens are remaining. Once all tokens are gone, you're on your own!
Cashing in a token will result in the provision of a clue. I will not outright tell you which option to choose, but after the clue has been given it should become fairly obvious.
Note that some situations may not have "preferable" options at all, simply options that lead you to something different but equal.
~~~~~~~~~

The Competition

Don't look so worried! It's very simple, actually.

It's basically a rolling competition! Go to the discussion thread and roll FIVE 10-sided dice. Got it? So your maximum number will be fifty.

Anyone who ignores this and posts a random number or not the correct number of dice will have their post ignored.

The first person to get less than 15 wins the right to choose!

You may post as many times as you like.

However, if a person consistently abuses their right to play and choose they will be banned from the event.

Please, everyone, pay attention to the posts. If you see someone has rolled below a 15, please refrain from rolling further until the event has been updated and we're ready for you.

Any rolls which occur after a successful roll and before an update will be discounted.

Let's try and make this as fun and stress-free as we can for everyone!

~~~~~~~~~
As an added bonus, somewhere in every post here there will be an illustration OR a trivia section. The trivia section will look just like this:
TRIVIA:
Did you know that there are loads of people I'd like to thank? Panda for always being there and picking up the writing slack when I was too busy for the rp, Nii for putting up with me and producing two of the portraits you see here, Leandra for being my best friend and producing the amazing 3/4 shot of our pair up there, FEL, my teachers for not having given up on me while I've ignored all my work in favour of the guild, and finally all of YOU for putting up with my drow obsession!!
Advice
User Image User Image
Sometimes the characters will have hinted towards the best course of action in the post or the previous posts in the scenario...
~~~~

...This may be related to observations about the environment, so be sure to read all descriptions carefully!

~~~~
Jessie will often fare better using his agility and waiting for an opening rather than immediately resorting to force.
~~~~

Sometimes the opportunity will arise to look to Cressa to make the decision. This is a real gamble. Usually taking her option means I will flip a coin to choose one of the other two at random, but under certain situations her option leads to its own tree and may in fact be preferable.

~~~~
Most options ARE relatively if not totally ambiguous. Do remember that your tokens ARE available, though I would reccommend conferring with the other players before using a token, or people may get mad at you for wasting a hint...
~~~~

Be sensible about your choices, but ENJOY YOURSELVES too!

Helpful Advice on Playing as a Drow

* Dialogue with <> around it indicates it is being translated from drowic for ease of reading. Dialogue without it is in Common.

* Most humans are incapable of distinguishing a dark elf from a drow, so assume that “dark elf” will always refer to them.

* Both drow are of intimidating appearance to humans.

* Dark elves are renowned as cruel and inclined towards evil: on Gaia they have a reputation for being criminals; on the surface of Toril they are killed on sight.

* These prejudices may provoke hassle from authorities and poor reactions from the ordinary populace.

* In addition, players must be aware of certain traits which the drow possess. Most notably, they are capable of moving silently, seeing in the dark and lurking unseen in shadows. This natural stealth is their ultimate advantage, whilst dislike of bright light is their weakness.

If you'd like to refresh yourself...

Cressa's arrival spans from here to here.

The ensuing box saga spans from here to here.

The morning, and the lead-up to this event, spans from here to here.

Happenings which occur during the timespan of the event occur from here onwards.

Be aware that some of the things in Cressa's original post don't make much sense anymore with the way things have developed since then. Aw hell, only I know what I'm talking about >3> Basically to do with the specifics of planar travel, which has proved to be an issue I'm going to be addressing soon.

Be sure to pay attention to the roleplay at all times!
