Not the COMBAT guide. The SYSTEM guide. The big green and orange thread with monsters in it.

... But uh... maybe if you're having this much trouble leaving would be a good option...?
PostPosted: Mon Jan 04, 2010 11:33 pm

It also says it in the combat thread ---
But as I said, I quit.
The reason I even joined this guild isn't here anymore. The reason I chose to stay isn't here anymore. I have no reason to be here anymore.

At Jessie's suggestion, the first place he and Cressa went was the Training Grounds. He figured it was probably best to keep her away from too many eyes as of yet, and the Grounds would be the best place for that. Sure enough, when they arrived, the place was deserted.

He rolled his eye at the woman. ""

She chuckled. ""

"" he smirked, rubbing his neck and looking around the empty grounds.

"" she teased, pushing him in the small of the back with the ball of her foot, dark leg lean and bare in the morning sun.

He whirled round and caught her calf before she could lower it. ""

She pulled. In response, he gripped her leg more tightly and tickled the underside of her rather dainty foot. She gasped, and tried to wrench it away - he held fast, and she ended up toppling backwards onto the sandy floor with a shriek of laughter. Corie, perched up on the highest ruin wall, gave a small shake of her head.

"" she cried as he released her foot, immediately sitting up and wriggling ""

"" he smirked, folding his arms as she struggled up, fanning the skimpy pieces of material.

"" she answered innocently, dusting herself down.

He just sighed and shook his head, eyebrow raised. ""

"Ha!" she barked, taking a step back ""

The sorceress, hands on the skirt of her robe, kicked her leg up so that it almost touched the tip of her nose. She then brought it crashing down sharply, and performed a small, complex movement with both her feet. ""

""

"Which reminds me of a couple I met this morning... anyway, you remember the Vahk'shalul? I had to dance that with a partner at the bash'ihar.>"

Jessie groaned, a hand leaping to his forehead. ""

"" she smiled ""

Glancing at Corie in hopes of salvation and finding none in the preening bird, the Captain reluctantly shucked off his cloak, followed by the outer layer of robe - the second layer opened at the front, his legs and trousers visible, allowing for better dancing. Cressa squealed and performed a twirl, followed by a couple more complex steps as she waited, sand flying up from her feet.

""

"" he muttered, flashing her a reluctant smile. "Uss, dra, llar, quen..."

The dance began by stepping together and turning, faces almost touching, until they faced the other direction. The couple would then part, legs kicking high into the air, each to their own left, before turning back and moving together again. The man would then take his partner's arms and walk with her, spinning, before the two spun in place and tapped out some more of the complicated rhythms, eyes never leaving each other.

It was one of the more complicated dances for the social elite of drow society, but still very popular. It continued with more parting and returning, sharp spins and tender grazing of the skin. It hardly needs to be said that the prowess, accuracy and grace with which they moved was something to behold. Both had been drilled in the fine art for many years. Eventually, however, the display came to a formal close, with the two drow parting one last time to bow respectfully to one another. Both were smiling as they drew back up. That had been rather refreshing after all...

(( So, for the dance I would combine the first 1 minute and 11 seconds of this with this. ))

Coline let out a soft sigh as she reached the Training Grounds; partly out of relief for finally arriving, partly out of sheer disappointment at the tremendous lack of recruits in the area. Oh well, at least she'd be able to train in peace.

Unlatching the trident set upon her back as she approached the main area, she was able detect some sort of activity; the faint sound of disturbed sand. So there were others who decided to turn up after all. Mindlessly scratching the back of her neck the recruit turned a corner, stopping in her tracks as she came upon a most startling sight. The Captain was... dancing? And he wasn't alone either. Narrowing her eyes she inspected his partner's features. One glance at her chest would tell she was unmistakably female, but the dark skin, the pointed ears...

Drow?

She set her trident against the wall slowly, making sure to make the least amount of sound as possible, and watched the two with a furrowed brow. This was... well, this certainly wasn't something she was expecting to see. Was she a friend of Jessie's? But these thoughts were soon washed away, taking its place something far more apparent: Seeing those two dance was absolutely enthralling.

A small smile crept up Coline's lips as she leaned against the wall, softened eyes focused on the combat instructor, her head shaking in amusement. She'd already said as much before, but this man... never ceased to amaze her.

As the lavish display of skill slowly drew to a close the recruit pushed herself off of the wall and reached to grab for her trident. If the drow lady were indeed Jessie's guest she would hate to intrude; she can always ask about her some other time. But fate thought otherwise. Her fingers barely grazed its handle but apparently that was enough to allow the weapon to slide across the wall and land onto the sand with a dull thump. Coline jumped in surprise, wide eyes darting towards the pointy-eared duo.

...

Uh oh.

Her body, as if by instinct, immediately bent over for a low bow. "I'm terribly sorry for interrupting what... ever it was that you were doing." she blurted out, cursing herself inwardly for the lapse in eloquence. Raising her head back up her eyes trailed towards her fallen trident, and after a few moments of thought reached for it and assumed another apologetic stance. "I-I'll be elsewhere, then. If you'll excuse me." she said, quickly pacing back into the corner from whence she came.

Jessie and Cressa looked at each other.

"" Cressa inquired, as the scared little thing tumbled away back from whence she'd come.

Jessie's lips quirked, his eye soft with warmth, and strode off around the corner she'd ducked behind. He caught up and took hold of her shoulder, forcing her to stop and turn towards him.

"Little one," he said, taking both of her hands and kissing them "There's someone I'd like you to meet."

Beaming her a bright, encouraging smile, he led her by the hand back to the center of the sandy circle, where Cressa stood waiting.

They made their way right up to the drow woman, who eyed the girl with a kind of disbelief as she approached. "Coline," Jessie began, gently releasing her hand "This is my dear old friend, Cressa. Cressa, this is my... my Coline," he finished, those two syllables softly inflecting, filled to bursting with quiet adoration.

Jessie's warm cheer and the perpetual smile on his face, however, were wiped off by Cressa's reaction.

Her interest turned to incredulity, and her green eyes snapped from one to the other, and then to the two of them as a pair.

She stepped forward, hands on her hips, and bent right forward from her impressive over-six-feet height to look the girl squarely in the eyes. Her own were narrowed scrutinously.

Jessie looked between the two of them in concern, but just as he was about to say something... the sorceress began to laugh.

"Ahaha.... ahahahaha.... ahahahahaha!" she brayed, standing back up and clutching at her sides, voice rising to fever pitch. Then, as suddenly as she had begun, she stopped.

"That's... cute," she remarked, a note of surprise, followed by another short spasm of laughter. Her final words, however, seemed to grow deadlier step by step. "That's... very... cute."

Coline was hoping to save the introductions for much later when everyone has completely forgotten about her rather clumsy entrance, but she soon found herself being led by the hand to the middle of the sand ring. Looks like she'll just have to deal with it.

She regarded Jessie's kind introduction with a faint smile and a light blush, only to be replaced by an awe-struck expression as the drow lady stepped forward, towering over her small form. A small wrinkle started to form on her brow, her eyes fixed upon the lady's features as she laughed. Something about this person was... strangely intimidating, she found, and the grip on her trident tightened subconsciously.

Forcing her head down, she granted the well-endowed drow a bow all the same. "...It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Cressa." she said, allowing herself to linger in that position before raising her head back up slowly, meeting the lady's gaze with her own rigid expression.

Cressa looked at the girl incredulously. Soon enough, though, her face split into a cruel smile.

"Enchanted, rivvil."

"Cressa!" Jessie snapped, horrified, his arm snaking protectively around Coline's waist.

"Tell me," she pressed on, ignoring him "How does an unwanted little orphan - a nothing such as yourself bag a man such as Jessie, hm? Are you an enchantress under those ragged, soiled robes?"

Her eyes narrowed even further, and she reached out to stroke the girl's jaw with her nail, allowing it to scrape painfully against her skin. She continued softly, but with undisguised mocking. "No. Somehow I think not."

The look on Jessie's face was absolutely deadly.

"CRESSA!" he barked, smacking her hand away from the girl's face and stepping towards her threateningly "That's enough!"
PostPosted: Mon Jan 11, 2010 7:04 am

Her eyes could only widen in horror. How could she know about something like that? Drow couldn't read minds... could they? Her shoulders dropped slightly and she lowered her gaze, expressionless, trying her best to appear composed despite that sudden unwarranted exposure. Whether or not she was successful in this endeavor, however, was not something she was certain of.

"I have to get back to training." Coline answered, her tone bland and lifeless. "So if that will be all..." Regarding her superior and his crude guest one last bow she turned heel and left. She had no idea where she was headed off to, though that hardly mattered. Any place was better than here.

Jessie stared after his beautiful kalye'chev as she marched away rigidly. His face was... it was hurt, and shocked, and stupefied. Behind him, Cressa, by contrast, looked exceptionally satisfied with herself.

""

With a sound like a whip crack, Jessie snapped round, his face filling with rage, and smacked the woman squarely around her smug face. She ended up halfway to the ground, tears of pain springing to her eyes.

""

She clutched her cheek, recoiling backwards, eyes wide at him with shock.

""

"" he mirrored unintentionally, glancing round his shoulder towards where Coline had gone. No sign of her. God damn it.

"" he spat, grabbing her arm and twisting it painfully ""

"" she spluttered, completely helpless for once in her life. Her vision swam with tears. ""

"" he hissed, yanking her arm so hard that she fell to the ground with a thump and a gasp. ""

With that, he sprinted off, plucking his cape and robe from the ground as he went.

He knew that leaving Cressa alone with her thoughts was a better punishment than any he could have concocted himself. She sat up slowly, breathing ragged, and gazed about after him with stinging, watery eyes. "Jessie..."

After a few minutes of sitting, she shivered, drawing her own cloak about herself tightly, and folded her legs. She hunched a little when she sat now. It was a thoroughly dejected posture.

Corie chose this opportune moment to sweep down from her post, coming to rest on her mistress' knee. The woman ignore her for a minute, but soon enough a hand slid out from beneath the cloak, the fingers moving to stroke the bird's silky chest feathers.

The bird, however, never missed an opportunity. ""

The woman's hand stiffened and halted its motion. Then, with a sudden, enraged shriek, she grabbed the bird tightly around her neck, causing her to caw and flap, and shook her violently. She then flung the strangled bird off to the side, and returned to her own misery, cheeks hot with shame.

Jessie pushed his way through the crowd, Cressa trailing behind in tow. He was moving so quickly and silently that the strangers didn't have time to part for him before he was upon them, and they stared at him and his beautiful companion in fear and awe. Corie had retreated back to the inside pocket of Cressa's cloak, pretty much unphased by her mistress' small violent outburst. It paid to be a devil in bird's clothing sometimes.

The familiar tinkling bell sounded as Jessie pushed open the door to Ruby's Rack, Cressa skulking in behind him. Today the copper-haired woman was behind the counter reading a magazine. She looked up, and her face brightened when she saw the unforgettable man striding towards her.

"Hi again!" she said, then spying the shadow behind him. "My goodness! You've multiplied! Is this the young lady the dress was for...?"

"Most certainly not," he replied icily, causing the drow woman to flinch noticeably.

"Ah..." she replied, glancing her up and down "No, now that you mention it I don't suppose the dress could have been for her. You and I are blessed with a similar curse, my darling."

Cressa didn't reply, her eyes meeting the woman's for only a second before drifting away. Before the atmosphere had time to decay, however, Jessie pressed onwards. "My request today is somewhat more taxing than previously."

Ruby turned her attention back to him, intrigued. "What can I do for such a generous, and apparently loyal customer?"

"I will take one of every female item of clothing you have."

Cressa's head snapped up. Ruby's eyebrows practically disappeared into her hair.

"Wha-? Ah... ah! Well... this is... certainly unusual..."

In reply, Jessie produced from one of his pockets a heavy, bulging sack of 3-carat diamonds. The pouch fell upon the countertop sounding as if it was full of marbles, but he undid the holding string slightly to show her the sparkling, precious jewels inside.

"Oh, good lord..." she breathed "Where did you get all these...?!"

"If you require more compensation, I have also brought gold - and can bring more another time if necessary."

Ruby made her way around the counter, completely mystified. "I... don't know quite what I've done to deserve this, but I'll try and fulfill your request as best I can, sir..."

She stopped, hands on her hips, and looked around at her vast stock. "One of every item, huh...?"

"Cressa," the Captain commanded, not even looking at her sulking form "Help Ruby to pick out the correct sizes. Make sure you don't miss a style, and pick up every single colour."

The woman slowly inclined her head, and set about complying like a wet weekend.

Eventually, the task was divided up between the three as follows: Cressa went about snatching up one of every colour of every style, while Ruby and Jessie set about wrapping them in a similar style to the dress. The sheer number of boxes stacked on top of eachother soon became overwhelming - stacked on the counter, behind it, in front of it. Ruby had a LOT of stock. A couple of customers who wandered in found themselves stepping into a veritable military operation.

"Haven't we already packed one of these?" Ruby inquired skeptically as she pulled a thin, violet jumper from the pile of clothes to be wrapped.

"If so, she can have a spare," Jessie replied flatly.

Eventually, with Cressa having performed a final sweep of the shop; with all the ribbons tied and many tens of stacks of flat boxes piled high; Jessie's face broke into a smile. "Excellent. We're most grateful for your kindness, Ruby."

"It's my pleasure!" she replied, clapping a hand to her chest. "I've had some very interesting customers, but... I might be tempted to say that you're the most interesting yet.

"If I might intrude on this sweet moment," Cressa croaked, speaking for the first time since the Training Grounds. They both looked at her quizzically; Jessie with a little scorn. "How exactly are you planning that we get all of these home?"

Ruby and Jessie glanced at each other.

...

Oh.

[[[By Thor's hammer, Lorika, you know how to RP and make longposts long.]]]
Do I control the blades in my hands?

Storm had been up since five that morning. It had been an eventful week, but he had finally got back into his normal sleep pattern. His Mistress had been kind, allowing him his freedom while serving her. She even had Panda make a device to allow them to keep in contact.
It had been a lax day, well, at least the morning. it was about two o'clock by the time he made it to the training grounds for afternoon practise.
When he got there though, no one else was.
So he set off after Jessie, hoping he wouldn't have need to skip a day of training.
The voices in his head had quieted, and for that he was thankful. The priestess and the acolytes had not been able to notice, and this was good as well.
He held the small green stone in his hand, coursing his mental thoughts into it, brining life to the stone.
He spoke with his mind then, to the lady of The Order. "Miss Lorika," he started, hoping not to interrupt her, "It would seem the good captain is not at the grounds, and I am going to go see if I can find him."

It was an odd place that he did find the captain.
Ruby's Rack, a store on the isle, was bustling with commotion. Someone had stacked boxes to the ceiling, and he had no Idea what it was that was going on. He could see through the front windows somewhat, and the boxes were all over, and it would seem that one person had purchased it all...
He stepped inside to see Jessie, a look of exasperation on his face, accompanied by Another drow.
An extremely, EXTREMELY, Attractive one.
"Captain," he said, issuing a high salute before continuing inwards. "may I ask what all the commotion is about?"

Working on Bladed proficiency, finished grapple over the last week.

Or do they control me?

(( Storm has mad peoplefinding skills comparable to Cressa herself owo

Oh, and hey, what will Jessie call you? Would Storm really go telling anyone other than Lorika his True Name...? ))

"" Cressa hissed, arms folded - still sulking.

"khal'abbil showing such blatant disrespect to my beloved,>" he spat back, before glancing at Ruby. "And it's rude to speak in other languages when you're in the presence of someone who can't understand."

"Oh, no, you carry on," said Ruby, folding her own arms "I'm just the shopkeeper."

Jessie looked towards the door, conversation interrupted by a familiar voice. Oh, great. All he needed was the Torilian warrior meeting Cressa. This could end very, very badly, and though Cressa was subdued after his scolding it was precisely because of her stunt earlier that he could have no faith in her potential behaviour. He glanced around - at Cressa, at Ruby, and the shop as a whole. He couldn't risk anything inside.

"Ah, my friend," he said, stepping forward to lightly touch his armoured arm, guiding him back towards the door "Let's step outside to speak, shall we? As you can see, the shop is rather... cramped at the moment."

Indeed it was - boxes, boxes everywhere, and apparently no way to shift them.

Cressa gazed over his shoulder with interest at the newcomer, before following them out.

"Am I to have the pleasure of being introduced?" she inquired as they arrived on the pavement, and Jessie stepped away from the human.

Jessie caught her eye - a warning look. She seemed to be behaving herself, but... "Most certainly. Cressa, this is Drax - now one of my students. Drax, this is my old friend Cressa, here on a visit."

A very short one, he now found himself hoping. Why did Cressa have to do that to Coline?! They'd had such a good time that morning, and now... now he could barely stand the sight of her.

Cressa regarded the man and inclined her head in greeting. "I am honoured by your acquaintance," she replied, gaze directed towards the floor.

Do I control the blades in my hands?

"My name is Drax Alucard Dravok Vhirahn*, if you will" he said smiling.
"The honor is all mine, miss Cressa."
He could see eye to eye with her, Which was something abnormal for him. His elven blood was masked well by his height, and he was hoping she wouldn't start in with the 'breed this' and 'breed that'.
He was in his brown pants, heavy and stifling, but not too bad as compared to last week in the heat. He wore a very small shirt- what was it called? It was very stretchy... Ah yes, a 'wife beater' the acolyte called it- along with part of his leather armor. He had taken much of it apart, knowing that a real battle outside of training was far between, and he had figured since the rakshasa attack he wouldn't have need of the clumsy stiff plating. he still wore the pauldron and Gauntlets, as well as his swords.
His blue eyes looked into hers for a moment, and he turned to Jessie, who led him out of the store with a quick "come with me."
"Sir, I was at the training grounds after mass, hoping to catch someone to train with, but it seemed rather barren. So I figured if I found you, you might possibly give me the honor of a sparring match. Your choice of weapons, of course."
"But there seems to be something troubling you, Something to do with the boxes and most presumably-" then the lightning struck. This woman, this Dhaerow**, was a cause of much distress concerning Coline...
And surelyThe boxes were for her.
"How may I be of assistance, Captain?"

Or do they control me?

*subnote- Drax is from the islands west of the Sword coast, and it is a rather diversely populated setting. Both Alucard and Vhirahn are Elven, and it is another pointer that he infact, is a breed.
**Subnote 2- He is also fluent in Elven, Common and undercommon. (A small amount of undercommon is the same as dark elven, correct?)
*** Also, in the second edition template for Bhaalspawn, Undead and evil aligned outsiders know of his presence, those with a high Lore know his parentage.
