Name: V'tur (formerly Valcatur)
Age: 36 *birthday 11/08 to keep track*Sex: male
Orientation: straight though open-minded
Rank/Weyr: Wingrider/Trine Weyr
Physical Description: 5'8"; 150lbs. V'tur has a lean, muscular build that you would expect out of a distance runner or a swimmer; His hair is light brown, almost blond though gray hairs are starting to sneak in-very fine and kept cut short, though longer in front than back; his eyes are honey brown with thick lashes, his face is often stubbly and though he spends most of his time outside, V'tur still burns very easily; He prefers to wear sleeveless either brown or light gray tops, light brown pants and his boots or sandals depending on the occassion; V'tur has several claw mark scars on his arms from a canine attack when he was a teenager
Personality: V'tur is a serious dreamer, if that makes sense. He does have a sense of humor though it is rare he shows it outside of his circle of friends. And then, it leans more towards teasing over little things then actual joking and pranking. Towards those "outsiders", he puts on a strong front of one who is constantly in control and command. V'tur likes to know what is going on, at least around him and those he is directly involved with... But anything outside of that and he is more likely to be thinking about the day he can fight Thread or what project he can work on next to make his life a little easier. He is a very passive man whose anger is rarely stirred. He doesn't like seeing others get hurt but will not stand in the way if he believes someone is getting what they deserved. If he can help you out and it is the right thing to do, then he will do so. Or he will do what he can to make sure everything ends up alright in the end. His sense of right and wrong is very black and white with very few shades of gray. You are either with the Weyr or against it. And if you are against the weyr, you are against him. In this, his opinion is very firm. This is one of the fuses for his temper. He can not abide by simple mistakes or people who break the rules on purpose. There is a reason for rules and a reason to follow them; if you get yourself or someone else hurt for ignoring the rules, you are at fault and should be punished.
History: V'tur was born Valcatur roughly 35 turns ago in the foothills of Keroon. His father worked in the BeastCraft, specifically canines, and his mother stayed at home to take care of the family. Valcatur was actually the first son but third child born. At an early age, he showed an aptitude for building and creating and putting things together which both of his parents encouraged. He was constantly trying to create new inventions and helpful items around the house. When he was old enough, he was allowed to go out with his father to help tend the canines. And so Valcatur's life was a very typical happy one. At the age of twelve, he was sent to the closest Smith Hall for apprenticeship.
Valcatur did very well there. Learning came easy to him and he always appreciated a new challenge. He enjoyed working the forge and creating as well as masonry and he even dabbled in Glasswork, creating little bottles to send back to his mother and sisters. Just like in BeastCraft, Valcatur understood that there were rules and they had to be followed. More than once, he saw he saw sharding fools get injured or lose rank because they broke the rules. He even had a close friend who lost a foot due to a bad metal burn because the boy was playing around. When Valcatur was around 18 turns, he returned home to celebrate his naming day with his parents. He was to walk the tables a few sevendays after that. Going out with his father to tend the canines and swap tales, both Valcatur and his father failed to notice that one of the new canines was acting strangely. When the cage door was opened, the great black and tan beast lunged at his father, Valcatur pushed his father out of the way and had his upper arms mauled as a result. The canine was killed by his father. From this Valcatur developed a rather high fever which took a while to break, causing his rise to Journeyman to be pushed back while he healed from the wounds.
During this time, a blue dragon rider from Igen came to his father's kennel searching for beasts to root out tunnel snakes. While Valcatur healed, he became good friends with the rider, N'xel. N'xel's dragon, Cammenth shortly afterwords announce that Valcatur should stand at the sands of Igen. Due to his injuries, he missed the eggs that were currently on the sands. Several months later, Valcatur came to Igen and took up Candidate duties as well as helping eradicate the tunnel snake problem. Two clutches and Impressions went by while he was there. Then in his 20th turn, a small brown stumbled up to an overjoyed Valcatur and announce his name was Iweith. And Valcatur became V'tur. Both did very well in their lessons and training, once again of the mind that there is a reason for rules. Follow them. Though he never had the urge to be a wing second, V'tur would often talk to stubborn or troublesome riders in order to keep his wing in order. As he matured, his eyes wandered to a woman named Menoe. Shortly after Iweith's first failed flight, he came to her and her eyes looked in his direction as well. She worked in the Lower Caverns in supply so understood that she would always be second in his life to Iweith. They became close enough to be called weyrmates. Together for a year or so, V'tur and Menoe eventually had a son named Valnumen.
When V'tur was about 26 turns, Menoe received an urgent message from home. Her mother, whom she was close to, was ill and would be passing soon. Having not yet fostered Valnumen out, Menoe took her young son and headed home to a small hold outside of Igen. V'tur was not at Igen during this time and did not know his mate and son had left. Traveling by caravan, the group was a small one that was attacked by bandits. It was known that there was trouble in the hills and the caravan had felt that they had hired enough Traders and security to take care of them but the men were ruthless, robbing the caravan and driving off the women and children, murdering the men who guarded them. Menoe and her son became separated from the others; ending up lost, they stumbled down a steep hill during the night time and both died. When V'tur found out, he became part of the group to hunt the bandits down. Eventually, they were caught back near Keroon and justice was served. Several were sentenced to Crom mines while others were exiled to the Eastern Islands. V'tur, unable to stay in Igen, asked to be transferred out Igen. The current Weyrleader, on good terms with several of Trine's Wingleaders, put in a recommendation and petitioned Weyrleader N'rak to take him on. V'tur has been in Trine ever since, which would be four, almost five turns.
Other/Talents: V'tur is very good with his hands. He likes to widdle, likes to build and created little inventions, occasionally still creates bottles. He prefers to make his own leathers and straps. His is also very good at talking and bringing others around to an idea though he always defers to his Wingleader.
