K'on the Rider
There really is nothing like growing up surrounded by dragons; Kiron could never imagine living anywhere besides Trine, with its sprawling village and beautiful lakes. He was Weyr born and raised like any other weyrbrat and whenever he had time off from his duties he would lay down on the grass beside the lakes and watch the dragons in the sky above him. They were fascinating and beautiful. There was something awe-inspiring about something that was so powerful and so lovely. He know he wanted to be a dragon rider for as long as he could remember. Like everyone else in his situation in life, being weyr born, he was allowed to stand from the moment he turned twelve. He was luckier than most, and impressed only two turns later, at the young age of fourteen.
He was looked to by Brown Queth, as fine a dragon as he had ever seen. K’on figured he was more than ready to be a dragonrider (After all he had spent his entire life training for it, hadn’t he?) but nothing could have prepared him for what having a life mate was actually like. The trials he went through as a weyrling were numerous. There were good moments, fantastic moments, like the first time he and Queth took to the flew together, and there were bad moments. Somehow they made it through all that and emerged as fully qualified dragon and rider.

Personality
As a kid he faded into the background a lot, but it was alright, he liked the anonymity. K’on was perfectly happy to keep himself to himself so long as he could, being social when it was required and finding a quiet place to be alone when it wasn’t. It wasn’t that he particularly disliked people, it was just that he knew when he had reached his social interaction limit. Among his fellow weyre brats he was not closer to any one than the others. It wasn’t until Queth showed up that he had a deep relationship of any kind. Since then he has been making a point to try and open up, at the insistence of his dragon. He still prefers being alone, or in small crowds, but he puts himself out there for the sake of Queth.
He isn’t someone that people generally dislike. He is nice, if a little quiet, and generally quite agreeable. He expresses his opinions but doesn’t try to force them on anyone. At the same time he will not allow others to sway him. He prefers to make his own choices. When he talks to someone he gives them his full attention and actually listens. When part of a group he tries to stay conscious of the feelings of others. He often finds himself the mediator or peacekeeper of a group, and although he has had little experience as an official leader he would fit into that role well. He is careful and takes his time.

Brown Queth
Unlike his rider Queth is a very outgoing sort. He likes to be around others (people, dragons, doesn’t matter) even if he isn’t actually interacting with them. He finds comfort in numbers and doesn’t like being alone. If for any reason he cant physically see K’on he will be communicating with him constantly, telepathically, until he can again. When he is around others however, Queth is a very relaxed guy and easy to get along with.
He has a need to be liked by everyone, which works out because Queth could make a friend out of the red star if he wanted to. He is very charismatic. He is also very ambitious, and encourages K’on to be so as well. Queth likes to be respected and looked up to. In his opinion the only way to do that is by becoming a wing second, which he feels that he and His are more than capable of being. He works hard to try and secure that place for himself in the future.
Queth dislikes going between. It’s not a fear really, but he feels uncomfortable doing it. If it came down to a choice between spending the time and effort to fly somewhere or just taking a quick hop between he would always choose to fly. Even if it means a little extra work, in his opinion its worth it. It’s the only thing about his own character that he considers a weakness and he’s ashamed of it, but he acts like it’s not a big deal.
