K’on doubled checked the riding straps and the satchels attached to his dragon’s enormous brown body. Everything was as it should be, but he was the sort of man who checked everything twice. He was the first of the small party to arrive at the designated meeting place but the others should be along shortly. Two young riders, a bronze and a green. He and Queth would be the most experienced pair on the trip today by a number of years and it would fall on his shoulders to make sure they arrived there and back safely. K’on leaned back against his dragon’s side with a sigh.

Where are they? Queth grumbled to him impatiently. The large creature shifted his weight, nearly toppling His, in a statement of displeasure. He was restless like he always was before having to make a journey between and K’on rolled his eyes knowing that their companions timing was not his real problem.

“Come now Queth,” he chided, “we are early, give them a break.”

When the others came into view the shift in Queth’s demeanour was instantaneous. He was from a grumbling sort of sulk to his more usual easy cool. His eyes flashed a determined blue and he stood to greet them. After exchanging a few pleasantries and necessary questions, K’on raised himself into Queth’s riding apparatus. The party took to the sky and K’on, with one last look back at the Weyr and the sprawling lakes, signalled to Queth and blinked between.

S'kor stretched his stride easily as he headed for the meeting place. A bag was held easily over his shoulder. He and his sister had been asked to accompany an older brown rider. Though he had never met this rider, he was looking forward to going back in time again.

A rumble from the huge bronze behind him made him smile. He knew Scarath was eager to go help look for more plants. Or was it to taste test stuff? He laughed at the thought.

S'kor approached the rider and his dragon with a nod. "Hello. I'm S'kor and this is Scarath. It's a pleasure to meet you K'on, Queth. Are we ready?" He grinned at his sister as he mounted up.

Scarath rumbled a greeting to the brown. How are you Queth? Getting the image of the location from the brown, he spread his large wings and took off. Following the other dragon between.

Optheli ran up, panting and laughing. Dynith needing to be reassured had made her late. Though they had never met, she was sure that they'd have a fun time going back. Even better was, S'kor and Scarath were coming this time too.

"Hey guys! I'm Optheli, but you can call me 'Theli if you want. My green is Dynith." She patted the green head that bumped her back reassuringly. "Nothing bad happened last time we went. We'll be fine." She gave the guys a bright smile and mounted up on Dynith.

Dynith ducked her head shyly as she was introduced. With her rider secure she took off after the larger boys.

K’on and Queth emerged from the too-cold of between into the warm. He took note of Optheli and Dynth’s arrival shortly behind him but not her brother and his dragon. His brow furrowed but before he could think or do anything a splash brought his attention to S’kor and Scarath who had indeed come through, just quite where they were intended. K’on stifled a good natured chuckle. At least they were not injured. He cast his eyes around and took in their surroundings. The landscape was familiar, the land rising and falling just like it should, but the blanket of trees and flora that covered it was wrong. They had arrived in the past. He spotted a promising looking location and Queth brought them down in a gentle spiral.

S'kor came out of between into a lake. He let out a yell surprise. His fingers gripped the harness as Scarath floundered out of the water. He laughed as he brushed water inefectively from his clothes. Hopefully the water wouldn't ruin the leather.

He watched K'on circle down and sent Scarath after them. At least he hadn't gotten lost or hurt. Scarath, everything ok? It was best to check his dragon hadn't taken any harm.

Scarath roared in surprise as he found himself in water. He floundered to land and flapped his wings to dry them. I am alright Mine. Nothing hurt but the pride. He sounded amused. Obediently he went to meet Queth.

Optheli whooped in delight as she and Dynith appeared safely back in time for the second time. Her whoop turned into a laugh as she saw her brother and his dragon taking a bath. Luckily he was unhurt. She saw K'on going to land and directed Dynith after him.

Once the green had landed, she looked around. It was pleasant here. She waved as S'kor came to up to them. "At least your clean eh?"

Dynith trilled amused at the bronze. At least she hadn't gotten Her's and her cargo wet. There is no Thread Mine. We picked a good time to arrive. We will find many plants I'm sure.

Suddenly Queth was on edge and it took K’on a moment before he understood why. There, on the horizon, was the unmistakable sign of approaching thread. All of history to return to and they chose right before Thread Fall. Great. The brown dragon gave a quiet warning cry to the other two, Thread comes. K’on looked at the other riders apprehensively. Their orders were clear: Stay on the ground, no not attract attention and do not fight thread. But would they have a choice?

S'kor was just starting to relax when his dragon trumpeted a war cry. There was Thread! He could hardly believe their luck at coming just before a Fall. A fierce bump from a large bronze head, pulled him from watching the fierce rain falling onto the vegetation.

Thread falls Mine! Feed me firestone! His wings twitched with the need to flame the menace to ash. Why wasn't His feeding him the stone that allowed him to produce flame? I must have firestone to flame. Scarath twitched his wings with impatience.

"Scarath no!" The well built ex-trader pushed the large gapping maw away from him. "We can't. The Oldtimers might see us, and the Thread doesn't look like it will fall too close to here." S'kor glanced at the silver rain once more. He agreed with how his dragon felt, but orders were orders. If they weren't in danger, they didn't fight.

She heard the brown and Scarath's brassy cry; feeling her nervous green seize up between her legs. Optheli looked around and nearly choked on her gasp of surprise. It seemed Dynith had spoken too soon about there being no Thread. She laid a reassuring hand on the green's neck.

"Easy Dynith. It's some way off. Won't get us here."

The sense of Thread made her back arch up. As a dragon she knew her purpose was to fight thread; but there was only three of them. Her eyes flickered between red/orange and yellow. Worry made the nervous green shift from foot to foot. She wouldn't let Hers come to trouble, but she was worried about the Threadfall.

A look around showed her what Scarath wanted to do, and K'on's dragon did appear too upset. "I suggest getting the dragons under cover. If they can't see it, it might help them keep calm." Whether or not the boys wanted to, she was going to find some place for Dynith. Optheli wished she could have brought Ismay along to keep the green dragon calmer. However, she wasn't going to risk the little green flit getting lost in this time.
