Chapter 1: After the End




24th November 2009: The curtains open. The players are ready. Let the first Act begin...

1st December 2009: Five days have passed since the events of the morning. The temperate island is slowly being beseiged by Winter. A chill is slowly creeping in at nights. Other than that and a few spats of rain, however, things are basically as they were. Life goes on...

5th December 2009: An eventful morning for some. On the training grounds, understanding deepens. In the spellcasting halls, studious acolytes continue their research. The Spellcasting Instructor remains locked away in his study. (Something to be afraid of?) The throne in the Sanctuary remains empty. However, will it remain empty for long?

On the fringes of the Isle, the darkness seems to be fast encroaching... and no one, save perhaps the resident seagulls, will have seen it coming.

Oh yes, we got trouble.

17th December 2009: In the late afternoon sun, a group of people crowd into a dinghy just off the Isle... but we'll get to that later. wink

* To make things perhaps simpler to understand, I shall today list events chronologically. *

I do suggest, for a better understanding of characters, that anyone interested read the posts for this time frame, beginning Page 40 and ending Page 62.

~6 a.m:

Conversation in the kitchen - Jessie and Lorika.

~6.30 a.m:

Lorika finds Overseer, who had wandered off from the cabin. The two dispute. Lorika attempts to show the Overseer what he means to her as he storms off. She runs from the small gathering of onlookers - Harata and Feline - in embarrassment. The Overseer follows her into the Temple and they reconcile.

~7 a.m:

The Overseer befriends Feline and is given the gift of one of her green feathers. Kyo and Evelyn talk - Kyo shares his feelings of uselessness with her.

~7.15 a.m:

Metaburo attempts to drag the Overseer to breakfast with her. Instead, he takes the gift of Feline's and heads off to teh Training Grounds - his original destination for that day.

~9 a.m:

The Captain and Coline chat at the Training Grounds.

~9.15 a.m:

They are interrupted by Harata, who seems intent on a fight. Neither have any choice but to allow her to spar with Coline.

~10 a.m:

After the fight, during which Harata used frowned-upon tactics and attempted to persuade Coline to her line of reasoning, Coline collapses. The Overseer, having arrived and witnessed the fight, is called over by Harata, who tells him to disregard the couple in favour of weapon training. Jessie, distressed for Coline, orders the Overseer to ease her pain - which he does, and the two pick up an affinity. He embraces Coline, but is offended to see her bow to the Overseer and abandons the Training Grounds, too overcome by tumultuous emotions.

~10.30 a.m:

Harata and Bapp, both attempting to train the Overseer, end up in a heated debate about gender prejudice. Coline, who had been standing by, attempts to talk to the Overseer while he listens to them argue, and he shamelessly removes Jessie's borrowed robe, asking her to take it back to him. Coline leaves in a hurry, and Bapp and Harata stop arguing to comment on the Overseer's nudity. He is increasingly offended by Harata, and eventually storms off.

~11 a.m:

Lorika, having retreated to her favourite thinking spot, is joined by the Captain. They discuss issues indirectly, and both leave the place after some time feeling somewhat cheered.

~12 p.m:

Coline, now racked by the returned pain of her injuries, makes it back to the Temple. She is healed by Lorika, and Lorika demands that Coline return the robe herself in order to please Jessie. Discovering the Overseer's nudity, she heads off to clothe him with fresh robes.

~12.30 p.m:

Coline has made her way to Jessie's cabin. He frightens her upon opening the door, but soothes her. They have a conversation which becomes very personal...

~1 p.m:

...Meanwhile, in Barton, a woman resembling the Sentinel is discovered. Several Order members - Bapp, Evelyn, and Harata, speak with her. They are attacked by the mob of people surrounding the Sentinel, including a woman named Elana.

~1.15 p.m:

The Overseer finally makes his way back to the Temple. He is met by Lorika, who has already made her way to the Training Grounds and back in the time it took him, and who is all the more fragile for it. She's had a long, exhausting time thinking about thoughts she spends most of her time trying to repress, and is completely despondent as a result. The Overseer criticises her for admitting Harata to the Order, but this illicits no response. Befor ehe can begin to be worried, however, they are descended on by Kyo, who spots the Overseer's feather in a tree. Angelique also arrives, and they all watch as Lorika fetches the feather through levitation. The Overseer, having attempted to climb the tree, falls to the ground, and is immediately set upon and healed by both Kyo and Lorika. The High Priestess makes her way somewhere undisclosed while the Overseer heads into the Temple - Angelique, concerned, follows her but finds no welcome response.

~1.30 p.m:

In Jessie's cabin, the relationship between he and Coline deepens as he expresses his affection and desire for her. She is astounded, but reciprocates. They are interrupted by Lorika hammering on the door. She is disappointed to see Coline there, as she had intended to talk to Jessie alone, but resolve sto wait it out until she notices how close they are. She bursts into tears and says something in drow that causes the Captain to usher Coline out immediately, and sit the Priestess down for a chat...

~2. p.m:

...Meanwhile, in Barton, the group of Order members find themselves chased by the mob. Harata duels Elana in order to facilitate their escape, and they make their way back to the island. They decide, however, to leave the Sentinel offshore until they can ensure her safe passage.

~2.30 p.m:

After a long bout of crying, Lorika tells the story of the past which plagues her, and had brought her near to suicide the night before. Jessie consoles her, and bolsters her self-worth.

~3 p.m:

Having carried out their plan so far, the Order members rush to the Temple, leaving the Sentinel offshore. They meet the Overseer, and formulate a plan to get the Sentinel on the island with minimum danger. They bring Feline with them to provide air support, and she suddenly considers the idea that the Sentinel's portal may have brought her to Gaia...

~3.30 p.m:

The Order members crowd into the dinghy, and the Overseer decides that he likes the Sentinel. Taking decision-making over from Harata, who still manages to get on his nerves, the Overseer takes control of the boat.

...In no way can Pseudoverseer + Control Over A Boat Full Of People bode well for the future.

3rd January 2010: The morning's activity lies mainly with the Order's resident drow. As another morning broke over the Isle, it was loathe for the Captain to discover that the Priestess, in her fragile state the night before, had taken a dosage that was too high for her body to handle. She remained in a deep, induced sleep even as day rolled on. Leaving the Spellcasting Professor in charge, Jessie headed off to go through with his plans for the day - plans which began with collecting an ancient and valuable trinket for Coline. However, upon heading back to his cabin, he was informed by the two (now ex) guards of the armory that Coline's "burglarly" had taken place and she had been injured. He proceeded to head into town to ask around for the girl, and picked up another gift for her along the way, before beginning to search the wilds of the island for his missing beloved...

Coline, meanwhile, had spent the night in a cave, aided by young Bapp, who everyone had believed to be dead. However, Bapp falls into a hole at around midday, and Coline is forced to set out in search of help. She arrives back to the Temple and heads down to the Priestess' room, where a scene is taking place. A newcomer - Prince Timothy, heir to a foreign land, had arrived on a pilgrimage for the Overseer, been smitten with the sleeping Priestess and attempted to wake her with a 'kiss of true love.' Well, it woke her alright, but her reaction wasnt quite what he was hoping for. Panda, on his way to counter the effects of the sleeping potion, walks in upon her as she cowers and demands that the strange man leave, throws him out and comforts her. Coline then arrives to tell them of Bapp's situation, and the three leave - Lorika being carried, the Prince tagging along behind.

So where is the Overseer the Prince had come seeking? Having spent the night outside, the Overseer had sat very quietly that morning in an attempt to sate the seagulls who despise him so much. However, it wa snot to be. Soon enough he lost his temper and killed one of them with his bare hands. The flock descended upon him, and would have devoured him if not for Kyo, who attracted the birds onto himself, allowing the man he worships to get away. Harata soon came by to scare the birds away, and the two returned to the Temple...

Upon reaching the cave, Coline was horrified to discover that Bapp had gone. Panda headed back outside, and was outraged to fine Prince Timothy advancing on the Priestess again after a conversation between the two. He attacked the Prince, who fell to the ground, injured. Lorika healed him, and Panda stormed off, outraged. Lorika stumbled after him, and the two reconciled. Coline caught up and carried the unconscious Prince back to the Temple, Panda carrying Lorika just as before. All of this after stumbling on a strange man just outside the cave... but, well, he wasn't injured per se, and so they left him behind.

Feline, recovering from her full-death experience, managed to sneak out of her room and attempted to break into the Professor's study in order to gain knowledge about a way to return to her homeland. The group arrived back at that instant, however, and she was caught in the act. The entire group headed into the study, where Panda fed himself and Lorika some energy potion. They were soon joined bya recovered Kyo, who asked to speak to Lorika in private with some concerns about the Overseer...

Meanwhile, Jessie had arrived back from his search with a heavy heart some hour beforehand, only to find that there may yet be hope for Coline's life. He waited patiently for the group to arrive back, but as they used the back entrance he missed them. One person, however - the strange man from outside the cave - had not taken the back entrance upon following them back. He entered through the front, and attacked the drow upon seeing him. He was sated, however, as Jessie seemed more inclined to converse than to rend, and promptly collapsed from fatigue. Jessie realised sadly that this man came from his homeland of Faerun, where drow are despised as a monster race. He picked the man up and took him to Panda's chambers upon advice from bystanders... and who should he meet coming out the door but Coline?

22nd Feb 2010: Thanks to Fel for this update!

*Xeiashi finally woke upafter a week-long coma much to Evelyn’s relief and the first thing he did after eating was drag them into the Order’s Practice Hall. They have become closer friends after getting into mischief in the library. The smell from the stink bomb they set off is still lingering in the air.

*Cressa makes a grand appearance and wastes no time! She steals a necklace from Jessie, insults Coline, has lusty relations with Storm several times only to be left in the rain. Relieved of his presence, she and Corie make their way to a hotel where she dries off and enjoys devouring the male employee who helped her to her room.

*Our snowy felid starts the day by oversleeping and attempting to deliver lunch to Lorika. Meta reveals that she has a lost clan member that is near. After wandering in the storm Feline finds a half dead cat man and drags him in to safety and sends a message to Meta.

*After a week of sitting outside Gwarn’s cell and studying him Feline finally gets a response out of him. Feeling he is sincere in his need to change she begs Lorika for a fair trial for him. Feline later is caught in the backlash of a spell that Gwarn was casting and both are hurt. Gwarn manages somehow to intimidate the guards into letting him take Feline to the room where the healers are. The two are now passed out.

*Lorika spends a lovely and enlightening afternoon with Panda going over old texts. The two have found a bond over intellectual pursuits, but there is something else in the air. Lorika seems to be the only person who can put Panda in a good mood. Alarmed by news that Gwarn has escaped they made their way out of teh study, only for Lorika to be alerted telepathically by her guard, Storm, that the matter had been contained.

*Alexi’s plant friend Total makes a very cute appearance! The temple was also filled with the sweet sounds of her violin playing.

*A mysterious stranger flings open the temples doors to announce that he has a message from Bapp. This announcement falls of deaf ears since no one was near the door. The mysterious stranger then disappears and has yet to come back. Bapp is still missing in action.

*Coline is still worried about Bapp. After being introduced to and then offended by Cressa, she makes her way to the cave where he disappeared. She is later showered by a million boxes that appear out of nowhere, these boxes are followed by an apologetic Jessie who had bought them all as presents for her. Because of the rain and a need to store the clothes in the boxes the two make their way to priestess Eurydice’s house. After several misunderstandings involving bad food and Coline’s sexy hips we find her fainted (again) in Jessie’s arms from exhaustion. It is now morning and Jessie is realizing that Cressa’s mischievousness has left him in an awkward position of having gifted Coline sexy undies. Coline, however, appears unconcerned, in her ignorance of matters of sex and sexuality.

*After sleeping twice with Cressa, Storm has confronted his brother and left him in a pocket world to rot. His loyal companion Cespanar has turned himself into a dog with horns so that he may accompany Storm into Gaia. He has valiantly been guarding the room that Gwarn and Feline are in till the rakshasa can be dealt with.

*Odin runs into a very quiet Dorothy at the door of the Temple. After refinding the shy girl and her talkative doll Fern she promises to do what she can to help Dorothy find a place to stay while she looks for her brother.

*Fiend appears then disappears into the kitchens to eat.
