AtWoP needs a(nother) RP Manager! So, AtWoP is looking for another RP Manager. This job entails quite a bit of work, so we might hire more than one. Duties include: - Moderating roleplays and making sure that rules are being followed - Approving new characters - Creating and developing plotlines small and large - Fostering roleplay and keeping the atmosphere welcoming and interesting - Writing up egg descriptions, dragonet personalities, and dragonet profiles
Because of the nature of the job, the roleplay manager needs to have a good attitude and the patience and wisdom to deal with many difficult or sticky situations ICly and OOCly. They need to be able to treat everyone equally, including themselves, and be dedicated to the shop. Those with pretentions and a need for attention need not apply. Thanks in advance!
The perks of the job will be monthly and involve free dragons, but, as with the colorists, there will be a staff credit system which is currently in the works to save up for larger perks. Those that just want free dragons need not apply. Of course, there is also a gold option if you prefer!
So, all of that having been said, if you haven't run away screaming yet, here's the form!

Username: TawnyAngel Age: 20, turning 21 in June ^w^ How many Pern books have you read? All of Anne's, I think XD List any characters you have in this shop. L'thor and green Raith, Conomor. Experience/References: I worked as an Rp manager for the currently dead shop Wyrms of Ranthor, but that's all. Writing Sample: See here for writings I've done for L'thor, and here for all his completed RPs. Here are links to Conomor's finished RPs. XD Both of the journals in general have writings and such in them. Plot Ideas: Plot. Humm.
- Corruption in high places; weyrleaders/women of other Weyrs having an impact on our Weyr(s), or possibly corrupt lord holders.
-Hostility from holders as the Weyrs start asking for more tribute in preparation for the start of the Thread.
- Thread itself had many awesome RP opportunities; some kind of real battle system could be worked out with stats and dice and a**l stuff like that if people wanted. Otherwise, awesome RP in general, riders having to learn to apply their training and so on. They probably won't be amazing at it at first, so holders might be less than pleased with their performance.
- Death of people in high places, opening up the way for power struggles, and possibly putting PCs into the high places eventually.
- With the new Weyr, once it's set up, problems with getting tithes at all could be interesting. Which holds would look to them? Would they try to muscle in on the territory covered by other Weyrs? If the number of holds is the same, but there's another Weyr, somebody will be losing out on tithes.
- To give candidates something to do, it would be interesting to give them an enemy that wouldn't have so much effect on others; maybe a rider of some rank taking liberties with them, influencing the candidate master (possibly not the badass at Ista!) to work them harder, using them as his/her personal drudges and such. This might work best in the new Weyr, as I say.
- Rivalry between the two Weyrs will also be interesting; some friends will be separated between the two, how their relationships change due to the relationship between their Weyrs could make for fun RP. Possibly the two Weyrs would come to dislike one another so much that they try to undermine one another in the eyes of holders.
- More candidate lessons and weyrling lessons; this would be possible if more than one manager was hired. Candidates could be given physical training to toughen them up, this could even be turned into IC competitions, possibly with prizes like flitt eggs. Either people who got the eggs OOC would win events, or an IC dice game type thing could be done. For senior weyrling lessons, flight training and between training could be good fun.
- With so many people at the Weyr, candidate chores are being expanded to include gathering wild fruit from the forests, and catching fish, crabs and such from along the coast. Supervising so many small groups of candidates is impossible giving them rather more free rein than they're used to... Candidates should keep an eye on the surroundings; you never know what could be hiding in those trees.
--- While out gathering fruit for the Weyr, a group of candidates discover an underground cavern. It seems to have been abandoned for a very long time, but there is no doubt that it was inhabited once upon a time. An exploration team is quickly assembled to investigate what secrets or treasures might have been left behind by the previous inhabitants. How safe it is down there, how far the cavern network goes, and whether or not the Weyr will be able to keep hold of anything that is found remains to to be seen.
- As ever, gathers could throw up nice RP. Interaction between weyrfolk and holders, possibly unfriendly. Again, gathers would be a chance for competitions of various sorts either just for the fun of winning or for flitts.
Other: Erm. Well, I'm pretty good at being impartial no matter what parties are involved in an altercation. I have plenty of time to devote to the post; I'm online for at least a few hours a day and I'm always short of stuff to keep me busy! Also, I always find that working with other people is nicest; the best ideas usually come out of collaboration!

Username: Talencia Age: 33 How many Pern books have you read? I honestly don't know. I began reading them years and years and YEARS ago... probably my freshman year in high school. Most of the ones I read did not belong to me, so I have no means to guage exactly without going back through and looking into them, heh. List any characters you have in this shop. Jevasi (and her dragon Meridoth) - greenrider Illabel (and flit Bertan) - female Candidate Berjint - male Candidate Experience/References: I have worked as a RP Manager for WolfieDuke in her shop Moonlit Shadows. However, I'm somewhat on a hiatus there. Writing Sample: Making a SplashPlot Ideas: Let's see... here are a few plot ideas of varying degrees. * beached shipfish * an epidemic of bored riders/candidates (gambling untold amounts, fights, laziness, micheif, mrr?) * shortage of firestone for practise * Flit scourge - a dry fungus making the skin dry, raw, and itchy, spread by touch (could transmit to dragons?) * dragon races and competitions (obstacle courses, treasure hunts, sprints, thread-simulations) * Find The Flit! - Someone's flit has been poking around, making mischief, and leaving behind mysterious items. It's a spin on a whodunit mystery! Other: Time and life constraints would keep me from being able to do all the required tasks on my own. Most of it isn't a problem, but I don't believe I could keep up with monitoring rps constnatly on my own. I would really enjoy working with others so that we could bounce ideas off each other, as well as share the responsibilities that could become heavy with the enthusiasm for the shop growing.

Username: Princess_Feylin Age: 19 How many Pern books have you read? The original three. The Harper Hall trilogy. All the Weyrs and Skies of Pern. A few of the Todd books. Moreta. Nerilka's Story. Dragonsdawn. Dragonseye. Masterharper of Pern. List any characters you have in this shop. E'rik and FiryalExperience/References: I'm on the staff at a young shop, Dark Ether, where I'm responsible for creating different realms and societies and then supervising the three that fall under my jurisdiction (Scoli, Iungla, and a third, "hidden" realm), judging prompts and such. Writing Sample: Links to RPs I've participated in at AtWoP can be found in my characters' journals. If you'd like further samples, I can direct you to other shops' roleplay guilds. Plot Ideas: With the the general skepticism regarding the imminent Pass, it's possible that the Holds have been shorting the Weyr in their tithes, which would be a sad state of affairs at the best of times, but with the present surfiet of Candidates occupying the Weyr as well as dragons of varying ages and their riders and all the assorted folk who make up the Weyr's general population, these shortages are sorely felt. A few riders decide to take it upon themselves to stock the Weyr's larder and begin making raids without consulting the Weyrleader. When they're eventually caught, they bring down the wrath of the Holds, who decree that if there are too many dragonriders to be supported by the present tithes, then they must find a way to manage their Weyr better. Or so the rumors twist it. Now the majority of the weyrfolk are under the impression that people who cannot make themselves necessary will be sent home (though this is not the truth and no one will actually be sent home ICly). Other: I admit that I find the RP manager's duties a bit daunting for one person, but (like Talencia) I'd have no problem working with others to share the responsibilities.

How many Pern books have you read? Nine in recent memory. My favorite is Dragonseye. <3 I’ve also read/own DLGtP. List any characters you have in this shop. -F’sey of green Ialluth -H’dek of bronze Bondyeth
Experience/References: -I work for the Shinkami School of Saviors, and you can ask tooaya or Chrystali about me, if you’d like. I ran the latest RP-intensive meta plot there. Writing Sample: Take your pick from Scyeth’s journal. Or, you could check out Varun’s journal. But if you want dragons, here is an RP of F’sey’s.
Plot Ideas: - Well, considering how quickly lice spread through the over-crowded Weyr, I think it would be quite plausible that some sort of illness run like wildfire through the overcrowded Weyr. It’s could be a fairly serious illness, though not fatal, but you know how rumors get out of hand. This could be the final push for the Jr. Weyrwoman to up and out of the Weyr, taking those spooked by the disease with her. Eventually, the disease would run its course and fizzle out, but those left wouldn’t return.
Smaller events can include: -Dragonpoker tournament (creative way to give away flit eggs, and can be played with rolling die so it’s completely random) -The Weyrling Games -Once there are more adult riders, wings can be assigned and practices can be held. While not really a ‘plot’, I think it would provide a good setting for ORPs and for more character interactions. Good source of character stress, especially for those skeptical that Thread will return.
Other: Well, I’ve run a few Pern sites back in the day. And by back in the day, I mean before I joined Gaia. XD But I do know the amount of effort Hatching takes, what to check for in character applications and adult rider auditions/applications (in general terms, I mean). I also have AIM and MSN, am easy to reach and I don’t mind working with many other staffers at all. That’s how we run at SSoS.

Username: Tsunake Age: 18! 19 in two days, ooo-ooo~ ;D How many Pern books have you read? Too many to count, to be honest. The Harper Triology, all the books with Lessa and F'lar, Ruth, Avias, the Dolphins... I think almost all of them, save for some of the new ones being written by Todd McCaffrey. I did read a few about the watchwhers, however! List any characters you have in this shop. Jiriar. Debating making my Goran (male I tried out with for customs) a Candidate, but I keep waffling on his age. Experience/References: I've worked under Demontained for his Gender Confused Bishounen shop, and Gunsniper for her Zoids shop. I also used to create my own RPing sites in the past. This is the only example I have that still remains. It's sort of old and a little embarrassing, but. xD Writing Sample: [X] A RP currently in progress at Soquili. [x] A prompt for a contest, also in Soquili. Plot Ideas: Somehow managing to involve the Holds more into the setting. They play a very big role in the economy and functioning of the Weyr--without them, there would be a huge lack in food, monetary value, etc. Whether or not some folks would actually rebel against the dragonriders, however, is a different story. The riders would need to think of a way to reason with the Holders, especially since there is no way they could use their dragons or violence against them. Another idea is the thought of an illness that decimated the population of wherries/herdbeasts, so on and so forth. I think it could be an interesting crisis for all the hungry dragons in the Weyr. Maybe 'hunting parties' of dragons could be sent out to try and either bring back enough food for everyone, or just to feed themselves. It'd be dangerous, considering the wildlife, so maybe accidents could happen as far as things went with the felines! There could also be problems on the southern continent when the volcano suddenly awakens from its dormancy... >3 Earthquakes could frequently shake the Weyr, sort of sending everyone in a panic. There could even be an eventual eruption, and people might have to evacuate temporarily. Dragons would have to swoop in to aid the poor holders, and try to make sure everyone got out okay. Also, maybe tsunamis! Another random sort of idea; some sort of political war between the Holders! The dragonriders could lend their support one way or another... and perhaps there would be some retaliation, in turn. I keep seeing a flaming arrow being shot into a dragonrider's weyr, fire bursting out from the bed--almost like an assassination attempt. I'm sure it'd be pure chaos, but also a lot of fun to play with if thought out well. For smaller, more carefree things, Gathers! More Weyrling training, especially for Thread and stuff. Runnerbeast racing! A rampant attack of hungry, ownerless flitts attacking the Weyr, stealing shiny things and food! The possibilities are endless. xD Other: This shop is my current love and favorite on Gaia. I'd been going through a bit of a slump since my workload for school had increased dramatically. The environment and people within this shop make me want to come back, and I love trying to get involved with plots to play around with everyone and let my characters develop. It's a very laid back, stress free place, and I really appreciate all the work the staff has put into it. Thank you. <3~ I am on Gaia daily for many hours (sob) and am very easy to reach. My hours might be cut back whenever school rears up, but I always have time to post/play around with ideas and the like.

Username: Arrien Age: 21! And a half! And a half of a half! How many Pern books have you read? Loooots. Uhm. Dragonflight, Dragonquest, The White Dragon, Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, Dragondrums, Dragonsdawn, The Renegades of Pern, The Masterharper of Pern, and possibly one or two more. That said, it's been a freaking long time since I've read them, and I'll readily admit, I've lost details and have to run to resource sites. List any characters you have in this shop. Okassis and Wei. Experience/References: I'm usually just an RPer, not a manager. As an RPer, though, I've organized and/or contributed to a number of shop events in various places over the four or so years I've been around the B/C forum, both IC and OOC, including a Prom for Fa`e, which is probably the best example of my event organization. I am used to juggling a number of plots with co-conspirators, where I am mostly adept at coming up with ideas and finding innovative way to link them together. I'm an opportunistic plotter who picks out threads from the people around me, and can develop it into a simple or complex plot that incorporates as many people as possible (example: In this shop, the Klah-Off began by an off-handed comment on Okassis's part to S'van, and developed when Inaari offered to make them klah, leading to a challenge, what I would consider a simple plot.) Additionally, I have a lot of experience dealing with shop politics, rule issues, and other matters within the B/C forum (PM for details and examples), and am able to present myself diplomatically and thoughtfully on most matters. While I readily admit that I can get opinionated, I'm also typically able to achieve an objective viewpoint when judging or examining issues. I find it easy to interact positively with people, and while being firm, I have proven that I can negotiate conflict in such a way to satisfy all parties as well as possible. Writing Sample: A little bit old now and with at least a couple flaws, but I've always been proud of having penned the winning submission for Cirque's story contest. It's formatted for the front page still, and is about two years old, but I think it's still a fair example. Shrunk down for size. Quote: SHE'D BEEN SAVING UP HER NICKELS AND PENNIES FOR DAYS after she'd heard the fantastic news. It was supposed to be right out between the city and the suburbs, smack dab in the middle of the field out back of the old closed-down high school. She hadn't been to see it herself just yet, mind, and in truth, a part of her held itself in reserve as though the entire thing might be made-up; but her aunt had already been with her two little boys, and they'd told her all about it. The stands, the stages, the shows and spectacles and such splendor!... all in and around the big tent that had appeared overnight, just like magic! And that's exactly how they'd said it to her, too- "just like magic"....
She could use a little magic in her life, that was for sure. Everything that filled her hours was tiresome, mind-numbing and predictable; whether it was the tedium of schoolwork during the day, or the dull repetition brought on by stitching together raincoats in that cramped little room out on the East Side, or even those few bare hours spent at home between dinnertime and bedtime, tuning into the stories on the radio and tuning out of the tired old arguments between her tired mother and her tired father and her tired brothers and sisters.
But the circus! The circus was like a sunny summer day coming in mid-February. That break from the ordinary she needed so badly, that moment of youth she felt so deprived of. If only she could, she'd save every cent she earned for weeks and spend it all in one day among that collection of wonders; as was, though, she already felt terrified that she might miss her opportunity. It had flitted in so suddenly, so unpredictably- what would she do if it disappeared the same way, without giving her even a taste of the marvels she craved? Unthinkable!
The more she thought about the prospect of missing out on this opportunity, the more she felt the hole that, surely, only the sights and sounds of the circus could fill for her. First thing in the morning, she promised herself, she would get that adventure she so richly deserved. One day of playing hooky- nothing her classmates hadn't already done, at least the ones with the rich clothes and the fat wallets that came along with them-, one day to remind her what it was about this world that made it worth exploring. One day, to get enough excitement and wonder to last her the rest of her life....
WAKING UP IN THE MORNING shouldn't be such a difficult chore. Awakening to an unruly number of hideous aches throughout his head and body, along with a bothersome and fuzzy memory of the night before, he let loose a dry and grating groan. The back of his throat felt sticky and clogged, and through the morning haze that wouldn't quite clear through his eyes, he discovered that he'd fallen asleep in his work clothes- again. Which was marvelous, of course, just marvelous. His bedsheets were now as filthy as he himself was, and were beginning to pick up on that peculiar reek one acquired when one spent all day mopping up after the collective messes produced by a few trained circus animals, a few dozen carnies, and a few hundred customers. He wasn't even sure which group he hated cleaning up after the most!, only that all three somehow managed to combine themselves into the most unholy of all foulnesses ever to trickle over the worn soles of his shoes and bring horrifying new stains to the toes of his socks.
There were worse things in life, he tried to console himself, struggling to somehow utilize his feet to unwrap his blankets from around his waist. After all, something had to be keeping him with the caravan- something he ran from, or something he strove for. In the midst of his early morning stupor, he couldn't actually remember just what it was that kept him hanging around... only that it was rather important to him to accomplish, more important to him than comfortable living, or security and stability in his life, or even his own sense of dignity. That last bit was much more than evident by the fact that this was by far not the first such morning he had awakened to be disgusted by his own grisly reflection in the mirror, but simply another in a long line of such disappointments.
Something was worth this. Something that he hadn't fully discovered yet, perhaps, but it was there. If he had to spend another year mucking dung out of the animal pens and cleaning vomit off of the stands, it would be worth it, because he was driven and willing to make it worth it. Digging his hands through his filthy and greasy mass of hair, he resolved to get cleaned up and put on a good face before he got back to work that day. You never could tell when someone important might be watching you, after all, or what opportunities were lying in wait right around the corner. Every day was full of new opportunity, and it would be a shame if it were squandered for want of a little soap and water.
But even before that on his agenda, his most essential part of circus life was waiting. A small bag of props was slumped pitifully beside his bedstand; first thing, each morning, before he even ate breakfast, he honed his act. Without practice, after all, he could never hope to juggle well enough to earn a spot as a performer- and there was little point in hanging around a circus without wanting to perform! Gathering up the bag, he tiptoed past the beds of his sleeping companions and slipped out the door. The air was fresh and quiet, and he had hours to himself before the morning crowds would begin to trickle in. He intended to take advantage of the peace while he could.
IT WAS MORE THAN SHE COULD HAVE EVER DREAMT OF. Pressed up against the window of the city bus, nose smashed against the glass in her enthusiasm, she felt her eyes threatening to pop right out of her skull as tried to swallow down every little bright-colored scrap of the tent canvas with them. It had cost her ten cents just to buy the ticket to get here, and she had another dime tucked away in the front of her bra just so she wouldn't forget and accidentally spend her fare back home- but, hundreds of yards away and without so much as a foot on the ground yet, she could already tell it was going to be worth every penny spent!
The bus hadn't come to a full stop yet, but she just couldn't wait to get on her feet. Grabbing the gritty leather edge of the seat in front of her, she stretched out her knees and nervously smoothed her hair, leaning the right side of her hip into the seat back as the bus's brakes groaned to a full stop. Shoving with merciless determination ahead of the other passengers disembarking- young faces, old faces, men and women, small children, all eager and excited to get off the vehicle and out into the sunlight- she hastened her footsteps down to the ground and sucked in her first thick, wonderful breath of the circus air.
That first look was dazzling, almost overwhelming. Teeming with life, nearly every inch of space seemed occupied by the joy-seekers that clustered around each little stand and stage and tent that formed the proverbial ring of circus buildings, jeweled at the very back by the big top. The little group let off by the bus pressed forward, intent to add their numbers to the midst of those waiting with varying amounts of patience to buy their way in; by some strange primal force, she found herself moving with the herd, inching ever closer to the wonderful chaos that was the circus.
"Cirque du Coeur Torve", proclaimed one sign that hung over the ticket stand, its raised letters painted in bright red and orange. Slightly beneath it, in smaller text and less blinding color, a second sign added, "Enjoy the show". There was no notice to tell her the price of admission, but when her turn came at last to come in front of the teller and fumble with her purse, she was immediately informed by a voice with a strange, unidentifiable accent- "That'll be five cents." Just the trip had taken more out of her pocket! Sliding over the proper number of pennies, she was rewarded with a strip of blue paper and an indefinite wave of the attendant's hand.
Holding onto her ticket between both her thumbs and forefingers, she handed it timidly to a gentlemen manning the front gate. Her heart began to flutter as she took that first step past him, each little motion sped up the dawning of anticipation, every small flicker of the eye stretching out a new moment of suspense; then she was caught up in the crowd, and she was away!
And oh, was she ever; right out and away from the whole world of work and worry she'd once been so embroiled in. Awe filled up her eyes as she paid witness to feats she never would have thought possible- a man sticking a sword down his own throat and living to gloat about it, a woman that could tie her own body in a knot and even more bizarre shapes, a child who draped themselves in hissing, venomous snakes but didn't suffer a single bite for their daring. Disbelief mingled freely with discovery as she stormed through the freak shows, meeting with things that spat in the face of common knowledge and destroyed the theories of modern science- and how she delighted in every rule broken! A small break, in which she sampled cuisine she had never heard of (which, admittedly, she didn't really like all that much; but oh, even something that tasted awful was marvelous, when it was a part of the circus!), and then she was off to get her palm read and discover the hope of the future.
Head awhirl with new thoughts and new dreams, she hardly realized that the morning had faded behind her as the flow of the crowd drew her at last to the marvel that could not be denied; the main event at last, the big tent. Aware of the crescendo of music building up within its walls, she was eager and overeager as she thrust the price of admission into the hands of the lovely young lady that doled out tickets outside the entrance, pushing her way into the darkened tent with impatience. It seemed that she was just in time- the true show, that for which all else she had already experienced and been taken in by was merely the appetizer, was about to begin....
HE'D GIVE ANYTHING TO BE THAT PERSON. That center of attention, that idol on the pedestal. Standing invisible in the darkness behind the center stage, he watched with open envy the performer that frolicked in the heavy beam of the spotlight, drawing laughter and amazement with their grounded acrobatics and improbable feats of physical awe. It was almost painful to watch; his very spit tasted bitter on his tongue, soaked through with his own jealousy. Over and over, again and again, his mind repeated the same tired questions- What was it that he lacked? What was it that he needed to be that person who everyone watched, admired and envied?
Brooding would get him nowhere. The next act needed setting up, and he knew who'd be blamed if it weren't ready by the time this one were over. Struggling and grunting with the heavy stage prop, he dragged it as unobtrusively as he could to the leftmost of the three rings laid out in the big top. If he got so much of a glance out of even one person in the uproarious audience, it wouldn't matter; he was the muscle, not the entertainment, and he knew the difference all too well. Any single person in that audience could fill his shoes- it didn't take any talent to push around stage props, and he was quite aware. Yet, he could take some small amount of pride in the steady reminder- without him, the headliners would have no one's shoulder's to stand on. If he were to give up right now- just throw up his hands in disgust and walk away- the next act wouldn't be ready, and the whole performance would be thrown off. He might be a bit player on this stage, but he was important nonetheless. He was the steel girder in the building, the turbine in the engine, the oxen that pulled the wagon along....
"You. You're the one that I see working that juggling act in the morning, aren't you?" The fierce whisper by his ear startled him; wrapped up in his thoughts, he hadn't been aware of the other person that had come up beside him in the darkness until the voice had spoken. Trying to make out the person's facial features through the shadows, he answered with a numb nod and a quiet "Yes, that's me."
"Good," came the heavy-handed reply. "You're just what I need. My partner's fallen off the wagon again, and is too drunk to perform. You're taking his place. We're on in ten- go get in costume." For a long moment, he could only respond with a blank, open stare. "... Did-I-speak-too-fast-for-you? Do-I-need-to-speak-slow-er?"
Oh, great. Not even five seconds after having opportunity beat him over the head with a bag of bricks, and he'd already annoyed its agent. "No! No no, I understand, I-"
"Then don't make me say it again, or I'll find someone else to fill your shoes." Their patience was already wearing thin, and he didn't dare to let it run on empty. Abandoning the stage set-up, he hustled his way straight out of the tent and to his trailer out back, digging around through his belongings for those old circus duds his mentor had given him as hand-me-downs in the instance he might get a chance just like the one in front of him now. He felt a momentary pang of guilt at leaving his job unfinished, but logic spoke up quickly enough; there were dozens of hands around the circus, and what he had been doing wasn't really all that important after all. They'd find someone else to take his place easily. He had a more essential task ahead of him, and he couldn't be concerned with such trivialities.
Pulling his shirt off over his head and struggling into the slightly undersized performance outfit, the full impact of the situation caught up with him in an instant, paralyzing him with a sudden surge of fascination. All the work he had put into working around this place, all the hours he'd sunk into training his act, every humiliation he'd suffered through for the sake of that intangible dream... it had finally brought him closer to that perfect life. And oh, the price he'd paid was worth it, even if he had to pay it a thousand times over. A star, he thought; he was taking one more step on his way to taking that center stage he lusted after, another step towards acheiving that ultimate goal of stardom at last.... Plot Ideas: BRIEFS *The Holdless Rising - as the threat of Thread comes nearer, those banished outside the Holds have two options; they can either delude themselves into thinking it will never come, or find some way to survive it. A band of criminals gathers together to force their way into a sizable Cothold near Ista, living like bandits and terrorizing the families. The Weyr has been asked for help in liberating the Cothold. But the message it would make to send dragons against people, even dangerous people, could send ripples throughout all of Pern....(Micro: This will give everyone a chance to let their characters wrestle with their definitions of a dragonrider's duty, as well as allowing individuals to come forward with specific solutions. Macro: If the issue is poorly dealt with, or if word of it spreads, other Holdless might rise against Cotholders as well. Even before Thread falls, Pern could be set into a state of emergency.) *Damaged Sands - the Hatching Grounds has been infested by tunnel snakes, and at the worst of times! The young Queen has already risen. All the Candidates must clear the Grounds before it is time for her to lay, or there's no telling what losses the Weyr could suffer. (Micro: This will offer something for the Candidates to do, give a route for solutions, and torment poor Yansanth beyond all good reason. Macro: What would happen if they are unsuccessful, and the Queen decides she must find some other place to lay her eggs - like another Weyr, or the beaches of Ista? What if she laid her eggs, and some tunnel snakes yet remaining made an assault?) *Shipwrecked - a merchant vessel that was due to come to Ista from the South Continent has disappeared, and aboard it, one of the Mastersmith's most promising apprentices. Begging a favor of the Weyr, he's asked for the dragonriders to search any islands near the coast, the holdfolk and Candidates to search the beaches - but is there anything left to find? (Micro: This will give everyone an opportunity to RP free of the Weyr, let their characters explore new environments, and connect their characters with being servants of Pern society as a whole, rather than loyal only to the Weyr. Macro: There's any number of plots that can stem off of the recovery or loss of the Mastersmith, not even to mention what it was that wrecked the ship in the first place. An unknown sea creature? Holdless Pirates? Strange natural phenomena that could set off a new growth of science and discovery?) *The Miner's Dream; a Candidate, exploring the tunnels of the Weyr, has come upon an unexpected boon - a vein of ore! (Micro: For the Candidate that discovers it, they have a choice. If they report it to the Weyrleader, then the Weyr may be sitting on untold riches... but maybe they could find that being a rich man or woman is worth more to them than being a dragonrider, and begin stealing from the Weyr, setting a whole net of insanity into effect. Macro: If it does get reported, the Weyr is in an uncomfortable spot. Upon hearing of their good fortune, the Hold complains - the ore should go to them, since they have to pay for the upkeep of the Weyr already! The Smithhall is eager to tear into the rock in order to get at that ore, but with a Queen soon to be on the sands, the disturbance could be too much. To refuse to mine it would start a storm of politics, but even delaying it is difficult. If only someone with a silver tongue could talk sense into that Lord Holder!) *The Dragon Dragonrider - mutations are a normal part of life. We know dragons have been evolving; the size of them has grown, for example. But what is one to make of it when a hatchling dragon bonds to an older dragon sitting attendance in the Bowl? (Micro: What can be done to keep one - or both - from retreating between in the confusion? If they both live, can this help in fighting Thread? What effects will this bizarre Bonding have on the dragonrider caught up in it - especially during Flights, when the emotions of one dragon already overwhelms? Macro: What benefits might come to the Weyr if a new breed of dragon arises, seeking partnered dragons to Bond with? Could it be the first step toward a self-sufficient dragon population, separated from humans and the Weyr - and if so, can it be stopped before it becomes dangerous, or have the dragons earned their right to develop into an independent sentient race?) *Message from the Sky - so long ago, the Rukbat system was flagged as forbidden territory due to the danger of Thread, and supposedly, this ensured the isolation of the Pernese from the rest of the world. But there are always those who will break the rules, especially when profit is on the line - and if a nearby planetoid seems to contain some materials worth salvaging, or even a hidden trove on the Far Western continent, a rogue salvage operation might set up a temporary base camp on Pern to try and plunder it for all its worth, heedless of the danger of Thread or the native settlers. (This would be a huge arc if it went into play, and take a lot of planning. There's a million possibilities, from the Weyrs having to defend Pern against the invaders, to the invaders needing the help of the Weyrs when they discover Thread, to a strained and mutual co-existence until the invaders leave, to the invaders attempting to bring a dragon (or dragon egg!) back home with them.) *Sickness Between - There's no way that life can exist between, right? So why are so many dragons that cross between falling ill? It's already caused a number of deaths in the bigger Weyrs, and with Thread on the horizon, one dead dragon is one too many. Until more is known about this disease, the Weyrs are instructing their riders not to let their dragons go between - but say, the flitts don't seem to be affected, do they...? (Micro: For younger Weyrlings, the frustration of not being allowed to go between will be tremendous, and might tempt them to break orders. Mature dragons might have caught the sickness before the warning got out, leaving their riders in a panic. Some dragons might even go between if they get sick enough, leaving their riders bereft. Everyone will have to cope with the uncertainty of the future, and the loss of dragons (NPCs, of course, unless a PC volunteers). Macro: Dragons have always been considered untouchable. It's the riders who are weak, prone to sickness and injury. Seeing this invincibility cracked may shatter the faith of the Holds, let alone the burden it would place on the dragonriders themselves.) *The Forgotten Skeleton - while wandering the tropics around Ista Weyr, a Weyrfolk came upon an old rotting corpse - and on it, a message with the seal of Benden Weyr, written to the Weyrleader. The message is from a young Candidate, who claims that there's some sort of sabotage going on so that only the Candidates that the Benden Weyrleader specifically wants to Impress - many of them kin of high-ranking Holders and Craftmasters, the people who are responsible for tithes - are standing on the Grounds, and the rest are either set to work or sent home. It might seem like the silly and sad suspicions of an unlucky Candidate at first, but there's been talk of a handful of young dragonlings at Benden Hatchings who have gone between, unable to find a proper partner - and with how many Candidates are crowding up Ista, it doesn't make sense that there wouldn't be even one there that could Impress. (Micro: There are a million questions for everyone to ask themselves about this issue, even if they are unaffected. If the Ista Weyrleader does a follow-up, he may find that an unusually low number of Candidates are indeed on the Grounds at Hatchings, and decide to solve the Ista overpopulations problem by sending some of his Candidates to them, allowing Candidate characters the option of moving to a new Weyr (and thus opening new venues for RP and advancement among riders, and all the political intrigue that comes with a third PC Weyr other than Ista and the new one that's been spoken about). Macro: This sort of corruption can't be tolerated. Yes, it's important for the Weyrs to get good tithes - but it's also important that all Candidates be allowed to present themselves at Hatchings, so that dragonets don't even feel like there's no one appropriate for them! The reputation of Benden may suffer if it gets out, but that might be nothing to the smear job it would do to Ista if they tattled....) * NORMAL DRAGON DESC: THE GIDDY GREEN *INTRO - The Candidates were barely on the sands, and one egg was already wobbling with incredible enthusiasm. Cracks split in its surface, deepened; a tiny beak broke through, tearing off shards, hammering for freedom. Within seconds, a green launched herself from the egg, stumbling over her own clumsy feet in her determination to break into the world. She'd made it! There were so many new things to her wide eyes, so much fuss. The sands were warm, the air was bright. People were watching her, anxious and excited and frightened and curious. All these things, so much at once! The dragonet's eyes swirled excitedly. While the rest of her clutch was still just beginning to rattle their shells, she was already here, and had the pick of the Weyr! Hers was here somewhere, she knew. All she needed to do was to find them... like a game, or an adventure! Enjoying herself immensely, the newborn green peered around the Bowl, absorbing the white-robed crowd from her haunches before dropping down. Boldly, she struck out toward the boys, shouldering her way past several and flicking one teasingly with her tail as she passed. There were many people here, she observed, and many of them were interesting - but she only needed one, and that one was Hers. But with so many, she didn't know if she could find Hers! The little green began to grow distressed, eyes tinging yellow. What if... what if she couldn't find.... Mine, she complained, poking her head around, your Menaeth is looking for you - why are you not looking for Yours?*PERSONALITY - Menaeth finds joy in the simple things in life - warm sun, fresh water, pretty colors, good food. Filled with boundless energy, she is forever sharing her discoveries with others, and seems to always want to head out on some adventure or another. Although she may seem flighty at times, it's very important to her that people take her seriously - after all, it's an important job to learn so much about the world and tell others about it, so they should respect her for doing it! Part of this drive comes from her need to be a protector. She has to know about the world if she's going to fight for it, and Thread aside, she has to know about the world if she's going to defend against it. By learning what is precious, what is dangerous, and what falls between, she can better understand her role as a dragon among these. Another part of this drive comes from simple curiosity - she has an active and lively mind, and seeks to fill it with knowledge that interests her. While it is very important, yes, that she learns to fly and take off and land and go between during Weyrling lessons, she'd much rather be doing that in places where she can see other things, too, rather than the relative sterility of the Weyr. Finally, she adventures as a need to prove herself. If she can go where other dragons cannot, then she has shown herself distinguished - even if she goes where other dragons have not, she's been the first! Menaeth shies away from going between on her expeditions. She must prefers to fly to where she goes - after all, there's no telling what you might miss if you skip the journey! For this reason, she is likely to develop a lot of flight stamina as she grows, being able to cover large distances a-wing without tiring. Additionally, she is exceptionally long in the eye; spending so much time trying to seek out small details in the environment around her has given her excellent eyesight, and the ability to identify things from a distance. Although she seems fearless, there are a few things that Menaeth can never understand, and hence, is cautious around. Spinners are one of them. It isn't the creatures themselves that put her at unease, but the silk traps they lay for flying creatures. She thinks about herself being caught in such a trap, and needs reassurance from her partner that there is no spinner large enough to ever catch her - but even then, she suspects that there could be, and they just haven't found it yet. For similar reasons, Menaeth is one of those greens that never holds back in a Flight. Normally, she's moderately competitive, enjoying a sense of validation by proving herself against others; during a mating Flight, she has no sense of inhibition and every need to prove herself the best of all the greens. Any dragon that wants to mate with her will have to match her, stride for stride, trick for trick, until she's too tired to keep it up - and realistically, it may only be the sensibility of her rider that keeps her from trying to go on anyway. *WHO WILL SHE IMPRESS? Menaeth is a risk-taker, and needs someone that will be willing to take those risks with her. At the same time, she also needs someone that is well-disciplined enough to draw the line. She is more likely to Look To someone that other dragons might choose not to, feeling that an atypical partner is better for a dragon like herself. Someone who has a drive for new experiences, new knowledge, or even just a strong sense of duty will be more likely to draw her eye. UNUSUAL DRAGON DESC: THE DRAGON OF LEMNUS *INTRO - The egg didn't seem so strange from the outside, but there was something decidedly off about the blue dragon that hatched. In appearance, he stood apart from his brethren; there was something strange about his eyes, and one wing seemed slightly misshapen, calling into question if he ever be able to fly. Genetic nonconformity was nearly unheard of among dragonkind, who had been engineered in ancient times to eliminate such possibilities. He mewled weakly and lurched from his shell, struggling to stand. The humming in the air staggered, as though the dragons themselves had been made momentarily breathless. "It'll go between," someone shouted from the stands - and as the creature cried pitifully, there was a grim and mournful consensus. There was no way such a beast would find a partner - there was no way he could ever fight Thread! The small blue remained on the Grounds, however. His head was drooped between his forelegs, staring at the ground as if watching a bug, unmoving. Then, there was the Queen, shining and radiant; the mammoth dragon gazed upon it, urging it to go, go seek out the one that would make it whole! Go find its Bonded! The strange hatchling lifted his head as he was nuzzled, and rose awkwardly to its hind legs, craning his neck toward the sky. When it came down, there is a strange calmness and certainty, as though he has seen his fate in the stars and knows, beyond a doubt, where his future lies-- Mine, why do you look at your Hepaeth like that?*PERSONALITY - Hepaeth is named for the Greek God Hephaestus, who was lame and ugly. Born to Zeus and Hera, he was thrown from Olympus, falling for seven days and seven nights before landing and making his home of the island Lemnus. Although he is often considered disgraced and unwanted, he was given in marriage the hand of the goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, so perhaps there is something to say for his fortune. He was the god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes (Wikipedia). Hepaeth is not unlike his namesake. Like Hephaestus, he is lame; his wing may never function as it should. He is also dependable and strong, even stoic at times. Knowing his limits, he struggles to find ways to be strong, for his Bonded and himself, and does his best to continue on in spite of criticism - sometimes, a poor best. Other dragons look on him with pity for his handicap. As a hatchling, it isn't so bad - after all, his clutch-mates are ground-bound as well - but as he grows and the rest learn to fly, he will come to require constant validation and understanding from his Bonded. His self-esteem will often suffer, particularly when females are taking to Flight; his handicap will force him to live an unwillingly abstinent life, and he is prone to frustration and depression because of it. Meek as he is, there is an undeniable strength beneath Hepaeth's surface, one grown from toils and trials and is desperate for recognition. He has a physical intelligence, a sense of being and of doing, and an unusual interest in human crafts (Hephaestus, after all, was the Smith God and the Wine God!) More than anything, Hepaeth wants to find the place for him and his Bonded which will give him respect among his own kind - but has to be bolstered against doubts that no such place may exist. Although he cannot fly - or perhaps, because of it - Hepaeth is impressively strong. Built like a train, he out-masses the flying dragons easily, and can move great weights with little effort. He is also extremely nimble and dexterous on his feet, and seems to have a particular talent for breathing fire (contributed, no doubt, to the fact that while all his clutchmates were flying, he had nothing to do but chew firestone). Without a doubt, Hepaeth is a dragon with a troubled and challenging future ahead of him - but at the same time, he is an innovator. Perhaps he will find some way to overcome his handicap, and in doing so, create new paths for generations of dragons to follow. No matter what, though, he will do only his best for as long as he lives - it'll be a warm day between before he lets his partner let him give up! *WHO WILL HE IMPRESS? Hepaeth is likely to Look To someone who is extremely self-assured and confident, who does not need outside validation. In many ways, their rider will be as much a role model as a partner; he needs someone that can set him straight, boost him up, and make him stronger. But he also needs someone who will make him feel needed as well; maybe someone who will appreciate his strength, make him feel like as much of a dragon despite his disabilities as the strongest Bronze in the Weyr. Other: There's no two ways around it - I work best with people. I get motivation, inspiration, and ideas with people. If I do get this position, then when it comes to simple management, I'll handle my affairs independently (accepting characters, checking RPs, etc.); but when it comes to creating and developing plots, I'll be pulling people to co-conspire. When I get ideas, I need to validate them before I invest in them, and this might mean running to someone on staff, or it might mean chatting with friends. Also, some of my facts on Pern might not be 100%. I don't mind talking to people to clarify points, and I don't mind being wrong, but there's no way that I'm going to know everything effortlessly when I read this series in middle school. So while I will certainly endeavor to know everything I can and help out anyone that needs it, there may be times when I will have to turn to someone more knowledgeable for help. Finally, I am not a person for visual design. Usually, I can come up with one or two traits I might like - but there's a reason I'm going for RP manager, and not colorist. If you give me a picture or an idea (or a theme, I can work off of a theme!), I can write plenty of description, but if you want something done well, it's better not to hand me a blank page. I prefer to leave the visual design to the people who are skilled at it. Despite these notes, I feel that I am extremely suited to be an RP manager. I'm motivated, I have experience in places that can really help boost the shop, I have a talent for inventing and developing plots that are largely character-run and reward RP, and I love digging for ideas outside the box to get people involved. I already spend plenty of time RPing here (and intend to continue doing so, naturally!), so it won't be any problem for me to divide that into managing. I would note, though, that having more than one RP manager for a shop the size of AtWoP couldn't hurt at all, and I would certainly work better with a second manager, if you were considering it at all.

How many Pern books have you read? Dragonsdawn, Moreta, Dragonflight, Dragonquest, The White Dragon, All the Weyrs of Pern, Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, Dragondrums, The Masterharper of Pern.
List any characters you have in this shop. Inaari
Experience/References: Currently I work for Meeki as a general shop manager for her shop Faekats. We don't do much RPwise, but I have done a few smaller RP events.
Writing Sample: Here! Everything here is 100% written by me. Also, Inaari's journal that I linked up higher has some good examples.
Plot Ideas: One idea I've been having will heavily involve any craft or Hold that has had a lot of young people Searched from it. Harper Hall in particular. The Hall can not possibly be happy that all of their apprentices and even journeymen are disappearing. And being denounced by the Harpers is like death itself! Likewise, I can see them losing some valuable items from other places.
I think some sort of Introduction to the Weyr would also be something nice to do with the Candidates. As it is, not everyone will know all the rules of a Weyr or Hold, but would be very interested in playing in the shop. Having the Candidatemaster sit them all down and explain the differences between Weyr and Hold/Hall would be something I'd personally love to do.
A rogue Candidate who is convinced that he didn't Impress due to some contrivance tries to kidnap the weyrwoman and make her give him some kind of 'compensation', and another try at Impression, even if there are no eggs! How would the Weyr handle such a thing, if her dragon and the other dragons, would be useless in this situation? A queen rider at a new Weyr would be best for this, having her be the only queen. <- This does not end well. At all. Everything would be on volunteer basis, of course.
Other: I will readily admit, as Arri did, I work better with bouncing ideas off of others. My ideas just don't form entirely on their own, and are pretty rough. But I love administrative work with a mad passion, and would have so much fun approving and refining character concepts to make them perfect citizens of Pern. I also love the shop and the concept, and I can't find any fault with the staff! Thanks for considering me!

Username:Celeanor Age: 85. (Not really, I'm 22.) How many Pern books have you read? All except the ones by Todd. List any characters you have in this shop. Gh'lan and Brown Khunoth, Florian, Hallison, Demitarnin, and a quasi PC I call Bianne. (Also have a few more character ideas floating around... what can I say? I like creating them. XD! ) Experience/References: Off-Gaia Pern Sites, I have written a few stories for Tripaldi and Falas Weyrs, and ran my own Weyr for 5 or so years before I found Gaia. Writing Sample:
[x] Gh'lan and Khunoth's Weyr. [x] AtWoP Character Journal [x] Soquili Teepee (See Crousader's History)
**The below are old and have some errors, posting them as proof previous Pern involvement.**
[x] Flight of my Bronze and Gold dragons at Falas Weyr. (Kind of dated..) [x] Another Gold flight, Rhinth is mine, Kweinalth belongs ot Xalia. This, by the way... is an OLD example, last modified in 2003. XD!
Plot Ideas:
I'm a pretty big fan of big ideas, and as others have already pointed out, I think a large plot expanding on Holder mistrust of dragonriders would be appropriate right before First Fall. As an Island, Ista probably will have more pressure building on them then the other Weyrs will, given the limited resources. So perhaps a NPC meeting of all the Weyrleaders discussing both the political climate and the further possibilities of the Southern Continent could spark rumors in the Weyr and in the Holds.
In addition, perhaps Thread will not Fall as expected on First Fall. That would heat things up all across the planet no matter which way the plot went. Either believers would start doubting, or non-believers would start recruiting more to their cause. If Thread didn't fall for say, two months after it was predicted to start, that is a long enough time for some juicy tension to build.
On the topic of Southern, however, I'd DEFINITELY like to explore the 'adventure' route. Perhaps things are getting dicey with the Istan Lord, so the Weyrleader recruits a few riders and Weyrfolk to head down South, or perhaps in an attempt to save the Weyr's pride the Weyrleader sends riders down before they need to ask for more tithes to support the growing population, or better yet, maybe there is no reason and some riders are just vacationing? Whatever the reason, ruins are found and a 'gold rush' of sorts starts. But where does that leave the Weyr you ask? Transport duty! Greens and Blues could be making fortunes transporting people and goods down South! Does rivalry between riders start up to protect likely hot spots in the South? Will riders and Holders have another reason to go at each others throats?
Along with that, there comes the plot from the storyline. Is it time for a branch off Weyr?
Other: I'd be dishonest if I tried to say that I have all the time in the world to devote to this e-job, but the fact is... I have a paying job and classes to attend. As it stands, however, I do spend quite a few hours each day lurking on Gaia (since I subscribe to the 'if you don't have anything to say, then don't say anything' theory ) and I wouldn't mind having something else to fill those hours with. Reading over character applications, plotting with staffers and other RP managers, writing up descriptions, and keeping an eye on roleplays... it's all stuff I can do comfortably and happily from my couch. I love thinking of ideas and handling criticism comes with my RL job description, and I'll ALWAYS let head staffers know if time constraints interfere with the duties of RP Manager.

Username:Naree Age: 26, 27 in AugustHow many Pern books have you read? ALL minus a couple of Todd's booksList any characters you have in this shop. Kallista, Greenrider to dragon Astarteth; Jessan, former herder and candidate; Zhaylan, artist and candidateExperience/References: I was the RP manager for the On Wings of Myths Shop when ll FallenxxAngel ll was shop owner; although I was not RP manager at SoP, I was very active with my 3 characters from there Writing Sample: Kallista's Search; Kallista/Astarteth/E'rik/Daramulath RP; Zhay And Whomever He brainwashes; I Still Miss You *original story*; Sleeping Beauty *original short story*; Drip. Drip. Drip. *original short story*If you want more examples, I can provide from my journal, from Skies of Pern, from On Wings of Myths... Nooo, I don't LOVE to write. Lol Plot Ideas: With Ista being so tropical, we could have another "plague" from a washed up feline or two. Of course, this has been used before but with so many members, it would be a great plot. Or, having a reckless Fisherman who brought back a couple of felines to keep as "pets" and they escaped to breed on Ista. A feline hunt would be great fun! Since AVAIS was found disabled, it would be interesting to find out if all of Landing were uncovered and if so, then what type of duties would Ista have? Would there be a group of rebellious riders who would go down there without permission? What would happen if they got caught? Do they have holders who are supporting them? Ista has a very transient population of traders and herders due to the climate. Not that crime runs rampant in Pern but what if a group were to get together and start stealing Weyr tithes because they don't believe that Thread will fall again? Where would they be hiding and what would happen when a wing goes after them? The Lord Holder of Ista is dying and there are two children in contention to take his seat. One supports the Weyr completely and believes that the bond between Weyr and Hold should never be broken. The other doesn't believe in Thread and refuses to support Ista Weyr. After all, Hold business is Hold business and Weyr business is Weyr Business. What, if any influence can the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman provide to make sure the Candidate of their choice gets the Lord possession? Um.. On the side, Gathers of course. An explosion in the flit population or tunnel snake population. Maybe a gambling problem with some of the Wingleaders or Crafters? Um...Unusual amounts of rain, so boredom due to being stuck inside? A drought with the all important numbweed or felis plants dying off? Other: I have been RPing since I was in high school. I started off in several different Elfquest onelist/yahoogroups. I also have done several Xmen and fantasy RPG groups that eventually died out. Here on Gaia, I was very active with SoP as I love Pern. I read the Smallest Dragonboy in 2nd grade and was hooked from then on. Um, I think that due to my age and RP experience I have the ability to be unbiased though I would suggest maybe two mangers to help keep each other in check. Brainstorming together is always fun as well. When I pay my bill *lol* I am normally on between 1-3 hours a day during a work day and 4-5 hours on my day off. I will always try to let you know when I have vacations and events coming up that will take me away from the net. Anything else, just ask away!

Age: Twenty-two, with a birthday in late September. (Yeah, Libra. Take that how you will. XD)
How many Pern books have you read? None. You may consider me tabula rasa - everything I know about Pern, I learn from you. For this reason I would not do well working alone! Please do not consider my application at all if you're only looking to hire one manager; I'd work best as an assistant manager here.
List any characters you have in this shop. Merya, and her little green flit Beru.
Experience/References: Shop work wise I do owners list and the odd round of trivia at Nequus, and games mastery at Palu Island. The latter is about to include running a 5-day RP contest.
Writing Sample: 1 - an old RP archive (Melodia & King Ladekahn), 2 - an extended RP entry (Meredith), 3 - my first PRP at AtWoP (Merya - are you seeing a pattern here?), and 4 - just for fun, a bit of Wicked fanfic (offsite link; beware of anything you click on thereafter).
Plot Ideas: A lot of the same things that have been suggested already, but I've got my own spin on a couple of them - particularly related to shortages. Black markets for uncommon goods? Thievery, and the hunt for a thief - that one could easily turn into a witch hunt as everyone looks for a scapegoat, not so much concerned about guilt as about having someone to blame for their losses. And if any Hold in particular isn't paying up, a Weyrwoman with the right kind of mind (by which I really mean the wrong kind of mind) might decide not to be so careful with them when Thread begins to fall. Only eighty percent of their tithe paid, only eighty percent of the riders and dragons fed and clothed...only eighty percent of their lands protected. A particularly marble-breasted tyrant making an example of a Hold that refused to pay...that could cause some serious plot.
Other: I'm a Pern neophyte, and I honestly don't wish or expect to be hired for my knowledge of canon. What I offer is my writing, my beta-reading skills, my ability to research, and my assistance for a senior roleplay manager (or managers). I am very willing to discuss, compromise and work on ideas with others, and I am keen to learn more about the setting as this shop sees it. As I said before, I am a blank slate. I'm not attached to any particular version of canon, and I will therefore gladly abide by shop canon as far as I know what that is. I like to reason realistically about fantasy worlds, and I see this as an opportunity for me to do so - and to help others do so, as a sounding board and source of ideas as well as an extra pair of hands and eyes.

Username: Moofuls Age: 20 How many Pern books have you read? All of Anne's, including the Atlas and Dragonlover's Guide, all of which I have recently reread. (I just finished Dragonseye yesterday, in fact.) Also, one of Todd's, though I did not particularly enjoy it and honestly cannot remember the name. List any characters you have in this shop. None, though I have been planning to apply with one. Experience/References: I am owner and principle plot manager of The Jivvin Center, and have worked in the past as RP Manager for the old Skies of Pern shop with my characters Wingsecond K'rel and his brown Siventh. Writing Sample: Here, about midway down, for the beginnings of the current metaplot at my shop. Also, the entire front page is my writing, and the thread is peppered with other RP examples. Plot Ideas: There are always the smaller, activity boosting scenarios of Gathers and Training Games, but larger-scale plots could involve such things as: - Overcrowding in Weyrs and holds means easier virus transfer. Plagues are always fun, be the human or dragon or flit. It might serve to drastically reduce the number of dragons so new Weyrs are not needed, or be contained but serve as a warning, and emphasize the need for another Weyr. - A faction of riders who do not believe Thread will return. Just as there might be some skepticism among the Holders, so we might see it with the riders. Oh, they'll listen to their Weyrleader, complete the necessary preparations--but you can bet they won't be happy about it. And what happens if one flies a Queen? Or perhaps Weyrleaders of other Weyrs are of this faction? - To expand on this, further disbelief among the Lord Holders. Some might show skepticism but continue to make preparations, but what if they flatly refuse? See it as a waste of time and effort, for some ancient menace that was surely destroyed by the valiant F'lar and Lessa of centuries past? (lulz, Dragonseye on the brain) - AIVIAS's assistance led to the destruction of Thread in the books, but how will riders see to its end without AIVIAS's help? Once Thread does begin to fall, this will undoubtedly be a question on the minds of every Lord Holder and Weyrleader. A very long term plot, to be sure, but something worth exploring. Other: My favorite/best plots tend to develop accidentally, where I see events unfolding and find a way to tie them together.... I think such things would be seen more as I participate more, and I'm sorry I have no current examples of RP in the shop to work with. I have been RPing Pern off and on since 4th grade (where I started on Neopets 8DDD and proceeded to offsite Weyrs), and like to think of myself as knowledgeable about the world and workings.
