In my band, each senior picks a freshman, and at Clay's Park, we wait till it gets dark, and then the freshman are lined up, blindfolded and given marching comands at warp speeds! and then they are led into the woods by their seniors, as soon as they get to this spot where there is a creek, their blindfolds are taken off, there are tiki torches everwhere, the freshman sit down and the seniors begin to tell them awesome stories, and stuff that happened to them, and they start crying and we start crying, and they explain that tradition is one of the most important things ever, and that they are passing it down to us. After a while in the woods, we all get candles and go back the way we came, there is a campfire, and we all sing the alma mater with the rest of the band. But before all that during band camp, we freshman were told all the "horror" stories of freshman initiation, it's great fun. xd
Okay, now it's your turn! Tell your band's freshman initiation, and tell of any funny or scary things that happened to you! blaugh

That sounds fun! xD
For my bad, the seniors, section leaders, and other selected people initiate the freshman/new marchers after new marchers camp: They have a huge party at someone's house, make posters saying "WELCOME TO THE ____ SECTION, ______!" and then they drive around and TP the houses... And it's the night before REAL band camp! xD
I remember when I was a freshman, my sister was a senior, and she didn't go TP other people's houses, but we stayed up until 1 AM (this is the day we leave for band camp) and 'got' the people TP'ing my house with water balloons... mrgreen It was HILARIOUS... but my section leader made me do 50 pushups while we were lining up for busses for band camp. Still... it was worth it!

But we do get the leadership with something on the last day of band camp. Freshman year it was silly string, this year it was water balloons (I accidentaly hit the Band Captian in the face 'cause I have really bad aim... sweatdrop )

our initiation is at band retreat. last year, the freshman had to do the soulja boi dance and whoever did the best had to do the less laps during the season. of course, drum line won and because one of the freshmen in my section didn't want to do it because "her knee hurt" (always her excuse), some fat kid did something called the truffle shuffle where he takes off his shirt and does the playboy dance omg it was hilarious.

Our band director was giving us a tour of the school, and he took us down a pathway blocked on the sides with brick walls. Suddenly, the new guard girls in the front started screaming... then... The seniors were dousing us in buckets of water.
The seniors also decorated Lowes Aprons, and we had to wear them all during band camp. Good times, Good times.

Trumpet and Sax sections in the past two years have put new marching members in trunks of cars and drove around like that.
Last year I was in the car when one brave sophmore went in the toolbox of a truck and spun cookies in sophmore parking lot. So dangerous! please don't put your marching buddies in unsafe situations!!!

Well, we didn't have much of an initiation. Some of my friends did stuff me in a tuba case and throw it around. That wasn't fun. It did kind of work as a personal initiation, as people seemed to think a little more of me after that. People also taped it and sent it to me, so I have the video.
That's when I found out that I'm claustrophobic. =D

At my freshman initiation last year, the last day of band camp at night, everyone turns off the lights and gets a candle. We, the whole band, sits in a circle with our unlit candles. The director has a big candle and lights the first seniors candle with the big candles and they tell a story. This keeps going and you get your candle lit from the person before you. By the time we got half way around the circle, it was my turn. I was so nervous that I started talking really fast. I told them I didn't know what to say but then I blabbed off this big long story. Everyone started laughing and I was from then on known as the girl who could talk really fast. haha

Heehee.... Our Marching Band tends to lean on the perverted side... I'm just starting Marching Band this Summer, but I've heard so many stories! Oh! The Alto Section made all of their freshman Pole Dance! They even brought in a pole and stuck it in the middle of a field! gigglesnort....I'm nervous and totally pumped at the same time!

Ours is more like 8th grader initiation, but we had our first one last year.
The night after our first football game, when they were all sleeping and exhausted, we went to their houses at like 5 in the morning, picked them up, and took them to our BD's house to have a party. Early. We videotaped us waking them up too. xD
Some of us (the section leaders and DMs) dressed up really weird to freak them out. I remember somebody dressed up in a turban and said he was a terrorist. xDD
Then later we gave them these, like, XXL t-shirts that we had painted and decorated with random stuff. xD One of them we wrote in big letters NOOB BOOTY.

I've heard stories of our schools old initiations, and what it might be like next year. (Our seniors were too nice : [ I didn't even get to be dressed up)
It was the seniors picking a Freshman, then they did whatever they wanted. But the whole band got to know do something to the freshmen at Part1 of the initiation. For example the freshman last year had whipped cream thrown at them then were washed down with a hose. Then had to get dressed up embarrassingly and do whatever their senior told them to do
<feel like I missed out on something fun...

My initiation this year, for the trumpet section was to eat a slice of onion, topped with peanut butter, mustard, and cinnamon. They were talking about putting sardines on it also...but decided not to...
