Body Type: Lean, Cane is slender and muscled with wide-shoulders and slim hips.
Hair: Black, collarbone-length, shiny, and now worn loose, with an eagle or redhawk feather and a braid.
Skin: Light brown, sun-tanned.
Eyes: Blue, bright against his dark hair and skin.
Description: Not very tall, but handsome, the fit boy is almost beautiful with his full lips, long eyelashes, and longish hair. However, his body is quite masculine, all muscle and large capable hands. Obviously not adverse to hard work, his intelligence still shines through in the confident, observant way he holds himself.
Other: Around his neck he always wears a mini-leather and beaded dream-catcher with a small feather attached. He also now wears beaded bracers gifted to him by Micajah.
Clothing Style: Almost always in a pair of extremely well-fitting, worn blue jeans, although his shirts and shoes change daily. He prefers to be barefoot, although he'll sometimes wear flip-flops or sandals, and often wears tight tank-tops in natural colors. When cold out, he often wears a well-fitting black leather jacket that his grandmother told him used to be his father's. Nowadays, he also wears his uniform.
Emotional
Personality: Some would call Canaan grumpy, in the sense that he's not a chatty-cathy, not very flamboyant, and is often not smiling. If at all possible, he responds with one-word answers or grunts, and prefers to listen rather than speak. However, those that know him are quick to point out that he's an extremely hard worker, intelligent, honest, and very dependable. Cane is somewhat reserved and suspicious of most people, especially those with paler complexions, and is also quick to react physically to confrontation. However, he has a good heart, and is someone to go to if a person needs a hand. Loyal.

[6] Student Background [Historical/Mental]:
Historical
Family: Though most of the tribe is loosely [and sometimes by blood] considered his family, he was raised primarily by his grandmother, Cherokee Kreery, his father's mother who was very strict, but extremely loving. He would do anything for his grandmother. His father has plenty of other children with other women, which is not a big deal and Canaan doesn't associate with them as more than friends and distant relatives. His mother, half-irish, left the Reservation when he was three to live with her non-native family, and he hasn't heard from her since. This also isn't something out of the ordinary, and plenty of other kids are missing one or both parents, as well.
Culture: Growing up on a Reservation has fostered deep respect for elders and tradition, respect for hands-on, hard work, for nature, and for spirits. It has also fostered distrust of outsiders. Cane isn't very educated, and doesn't put much value on school work, either. His people have quite a few legends and traditions that he's not going to be very willing to talk about. [Plot later, perhaps?]
Feelings about the War: Cane's feelings are torn on the subject, as many of the adults in the school's feelings probably are. He wasn't even born when the Celestites first made contact and came to earth, but as he got older and tourists and scientists gawked at the 'aliens,' Canaan's grandmother, whom cared for him, as well as most of the more traditional members of the tribe, refused to go and participate. They felt that the white government was simply disenfranchising and abusing yet another non-white population. Imprisoning something they didn't understand, as they did with Native Americans in the past.
Because of this, when he was two [almost three], Norman Prinwaltz began to speak out. As he grew up, he became slightly in awe of the man, as he was the first Caucasian Cane had seen his grandmother in support of. They watched his speeches on TV and she ranted about the injustice of the assassinations and imprisonment.
Nine years old, and yet another tragedy came upon the planet. Of course, unlike most people who associated with Thanksgiving positively, it wasn't the best day for Native Americans. Luckily, the Aliens didn't attack the Reservation, due to low population numbers and lack of political strength. It would've been a waste of time and resources.
At first, he and most of the Reservation felt vindicated. It was about time the government got what was coming to them for poking and prodding. For enslaving. Still, it soon came out that those aliens were being abused and manipulated yet again.
Canaan's grandmother began to rant about the civil war, and white people using black people, whom they considered less intelligent, as meat shields. This, she preached, was exactly the same.
At the news of the school being created as he turned ten then eleven, his grandmother was in full support. Defend humanity, kill the oppressive aliens, help the oppressed. Of course, she didn't sign him up, that would be unbelievable. She did often comment on how he was perfect, and if the government knew what was good for them, they would take 'her boy'.
Still, she cried when he left, filling Canaan with a purpose. This was his duty.
Feelings about the School: Cane has never gone to an educational institution in his life, and was discovered by officials on a 'investigation' into the Reservation, looking for kids that'd been abused, or allowed to not attend school, which is illegal.
One official truly dedicated to helping Native Americans noticed his talents and apparent intelligence, and alerted the Shinkami School of Saviors, applying for the boy. Upon notification of his acceptance, Canaan will be torn. He's never been off the reservation voluntarily for more than a few days, and all of his family is there. He's also very distrustful of governments, institutions, and Caucasians, as he's been raised to be. However, the boy has a hunger for knowledge, and is secretly excited to be going to school. While most of the tribe doesn't approve, his grandmother does, as she's a fan of Norman Prinwaltz, and is proud of her grandson for getting into such an important school.
Canaan, although very spiritual due to his native upbringing, will mainly be interested in any path that will allow him to work with mechanics and build/repair things. This is his passion. Therefore, he will probably be going into the Technology Division of the School of S&T.
Mental
Apptitude: Placing extremely high in IQ and apptitude tests, there is no denying that Canaan is naturally very intelligent. When it comes to machines and in a related sense, mathematics, he intuitively understands the rules governing it. This isn't to say he doesn't have a lot to learn, but that he has the capacity to be amazing in such fields. However, his lack of literary skills and knowledge of social rules is near appalling. Such things will have to be taught to the boy.
Schoolwork: Other than the tests given by the US Government upon rounding up the children who were delinquents from school, Canaan has done no official schoolwork. He has, however, attended a sort of tribal elementary school and can read at a somewhat advanced level. This is also due to reading manuals and texts on mechanical repairs. Cane has extremely sloppy handwriting, bad spelling, and has trouble pronouncing words and reading aloud, though his comprehension is excellent.
Skills and Talents: Primary: Canaan is a mechanical genius. He's far more familiar with automotive and household repairs, but it seems that most mechanical things he turns his hands to go well. This isn't a skill that's completely natural, he supplements it with training at the Reservation's main autoshop, where he apprentices, and also with textbooks and manuals, supplied by the shop owner. Secondary: Cane has extremely good intuition, fostered by close ties with the supernatural/spirit and natural world. This is nothing like ESP, but more along the lines of making character judgments about others and making good choices.

Staff
   
Norman: Cane is very impressed with Norman's reputation, and automatically feels respect for the headmaster, due to his grandmother's influence. He doesn't, however, know him or trust him.
Gideon: Canaan's heard good things of the demon from Micajah, but otherwise has no knowledge of him.
Kenth: The mysterious doctor instructed Cane to deliver a memo for him, however, Canaan hasn't had enough interaction with him to form a real opinion.
Alex: Easily Cane's favorite staff member, despite their short meeting. She was intelligent, funny, and physically capable. No nonsense, just like the teen, and honest. Cane looks forward to seeing her again.
Students
     
Scyeth: Scy was Cane's tourguide when he first arrived on the island, and although Hobble McHobblecrutch jostled him for dominance, Cane refused to play his game. The native is amused by Scyeth, and appreciates his atheticism. They seem to have a lot in common, and Canaan thinks of the semi-rival as one of his closest friends. He also finds him very attractive, and they seem to click well. Canaan carried him when they were at the White Tower.
Micajah: Mica was the second student that Cane met, and the first to become an ally. He helped Mica when he was crippled, and Micajah is helping Canaan study. Cane has a special affection for Mica, and the Magic student calls the native his 'boyfriend'.
Bronte: Cane's Basic Studies roommate. They don't know each other well, and seem very different, however, they both made an effort to keep their room a peaceful place.
Wynn: Another Native American that Cane met at the solstice party. He's always interested in seeing the smaller boy again and harbors affection for him simply due to their shared heritage. Now he sees the younger, smaller boy as a Brother, and they bonded closely on a visit to the White Tower.
RuiZhi: Scyeth's mate. Cane met him briefly at the solstice party, and is interested in the boy. He seems intelligent and thoughtful, and a slightly odd match for Scyeth.
Weiyuan: Cane isn't sure what to think just yet. Scyeth has identified Wei as an unworthy rival and a 'dragqueen', and Weiyuan was looking at Micajah just a little too long. After a class with the science student, Cane realizes he's intelligent, if unmotivated. A problem many in the school seem to have.
