Hello ^^ I daresay I am one of those new to the shop, so just wanted to announce that the strange person stalking from the shadows is me D:
*ravages all the cultural and worldly info* I love depth, so I've been enjoying reading up ^^ I haven't wholly decided upon a character yet, but I'll post more about her (yay for matriarchal! *biased*) once I do figure out who she is.

Name: Binah
Gender: Female.
Character: Binah is opinionated and headstrong. While she enjoys analyzing life around her, she also appreciates art. She considers herself a professional calligraphy artist, preferring to create wall hangings of quotes or personal enlightenments. While she could act as a scribe with her calligraphy, her excessive pride tends to keep her tied to the more artistic nature of calligraphy rather than it just being a mere "pretty" font for a document.
Going along with art, Binah also enjoys dressing formally and making elaborate patterns with her hair, very much the girly girl. Even if some consider her strong will and opinions to be overly loud, Binah prefers to keep up the appearance of being very much the lady.
Talent: Calligraphy.
Occupation: Philosophical calligraphy artist. She may be commissioned to create wall scrolls for temples, guilds, dojos, or even for the nobles or the wealthier of the group. It's not that she's greedy and after wealth, but rather that she wishes to be seen and heard in her own way and believes that those with money tend to have more power, and with power comes voice (metaphorically speaking.)

Interests: Judo, kenjutsu, reading, painting, juggling, gambling.
Special Talents:
Vortex/Extension: One a day, Lynod is capable of performing a backwards strike so powerful that the rush of air from his arm can draw an enemy from nearly ten feet away to him nearly instantly. This technique also has the ability to hit an enemy twelve or more feet away with a solid wall of air. Shortly after the strike, Lynod must receive bedrest due to exhaustion.
Battoujutsu: When his sword is sheathed and he leads with his strong side (his right), Lynod is capable of engaging in a very quick sword strike. The attack consists of Lynod leaping forward with his good foot as he unsheathes his katana to strike at an enemy.
Juggling: When given seven objects of no more weight than 15 pounds each, Lynod is able to juggle all of them.
Medic: Given his history as a martial arts instructor, Lynod has a knowledge of basic injuries and how to fix them. He can split broken bones, wrap knees, and clean wounds.
Painting (awfully): Though he enjoys it immensely, Lynod is not very good at painting. He produces garrish, hideous pieces that he appears to be intensely proud of. His favorite medium is water color.
Gambling: Lynod loves gambling, but the dice do not like him. Whenever he gets hold of a pair of dice, the fates seem to be against him. If he had poorer judgment, he would be out on the street by now due to his poor luck.
Personality:
Lynod is a quiet soul that enjoys listening rather than talking. He displays a rare gentleness in his words and actions. Despite being a skill practitioner of martial arts and a fierce opponent while sparring, he is unable to actually bring any strikes against those outside of practice. This is due to the fact that the sword-master is an avowed pacifist who sees kenjutsu as an art similar to dancing. He believes it profanes the swordplay in the modern day to use it to kill or maim. The style he teaches is actually different from the style he practices; the latter is built to be flashy rather than dangerous.
Though swordplay is his chief passion in life, painting is a close second. While he is a poor practitioner of it, he will spend many hours a day with a brush in his hand. He chiefly likes it for the calming effect it has on his mind--his love of gambling stems from the fact that the activity has the reverse effect. When rolling dice, Lynod feels alive and excited. While his gambling is rare, he is known for the once-in-a-while binge.

Instrument talents- Better on Piccolo than flute, but enjoys playing her music from the good ol' days of high school. Plays at a college level, which is to be expected, as she graduated Barton University. Knows a tiny bit of violin, but isn't very good at it.
Cooking Talents- Makes some very delicious cakes, and enjoys doing so often. She's not too shabby with other foods either, and keeps many cookbooks around her residence. Enjoys eating lots of fish as well.
Sewing- Is much better at making little clothes than big ones. She mostly sews for hobby, and for her little dolls she keeps around in her bedroom. She has been known to keep a repair kit on hand for little emergencies as well.
Art- While she may enjoy working with other mediums, she's much better at sketching then making clay figurines. Her art is always very undefined, and looks much better this way. Very rarely does she color it, as well. She likes to work with clay...when it works with her.
Personality:
Kanna is your overall band geek. She enjoys her music, and will defend its honor in any situation. She even goes as far to name and talk to her instruments, all of which seem to be kept in good care. While she may give her heart to her music, she is still a very warm and comforting person to all, and treats everyone with equality.
She really loves seeing things that are different, because she can relate to them very much so. Kanna treasures the little stuff in life more so that the big things, as well. However, some shy away from her because of this.
Kanna has her 'off moments' when she gets upset or sad about things, most usually a broken instrument or a friend moving away. She is most likely to turn to hot chocolate at these times, as well as her almost-abandoned violin, Len.

Special Talents:
Arcana: Adler is a Mage, and a powerful one at that. She follows a strict code of personal conduct concerning them, employing her skills towards the development of Wisdom. Expect these to be fully superficial manipulations, most often allowing her telepathic sensitivity and communication similar to a Porcelain, though far less instinctive. Further details in the small text, for the curious.
Gnosis 4: Adler’s personal power is notable. While her magical potency has not yet gathered sufficiently to allow her to exceed purely human limits without active magic, it still is respectably above average.
Master of Mind: Adler’s primary realm of magical study are the arts of the mind, encompassing dreams, the consciousness, and all aspects of the thinking being. As a Master, she theoretically has the ability to control this field in essentially near totality, including the creation of new minds and the manipulation of memory, perception, and even mental domination. In practice, however, Adler reserves her magic for benevolent purposes. In short, while she might be occasionally very difficult to understand or impossible on a telepathic level, having split her mind into several different streams of thought or shielded it from others, she will never willingly use this on another thinking being except in cases of self-defense.
Adept of Fate: Manipulation of Fortune and Chance, and the Swearing of Oaths. Adler can manipulate coincidence, though not to the extent she can manipulate thought. This allows her to bestow the minor blessings of fortune for a short time, or to make someone have the worst day ever. Much like her other magical skills, Adler only uses this for helpful purposes.
Adept of Space: Manipulation of Distance. Teleportation and Scrying are the hallmarks of this understanding, in addition to the understanding of connections. Importantly, this does not allow for cross-dimensional travel (raising the question of just how the Texan got here, but that’s for another time…or perhaps never)
Disciple of Prime: Manipulation of Magic: The creation of enchanted items, grimoires, and the manipulation of magical spells and energies, allowing for defense and dispelling of other effects and the gathering and movement of raw mana. This is how Adler created the Eye of Thoth, in combination with her other abilities. It also allows her to Square the Circle, creating a magical dueling field in which two mages can contest in a trial of will and power, displaying their knowledge of magical principles.
Sphinx: Adler has the innate ability to understand without knowing, allowing her to see hidden meanings and subtext in images, texts, and other forms of communication. This is the ability that allowed her to become a graduate student, and also the center of her life’s work, the study of the communication of meaning.
The Eye of Thoth: A magical amulet crafted by Adler, it grants her the ability to see others auras, and enhances her mind, allowing her to hold two or more trains of thought simultaneously.
Eidetic: Adler has a virtually perfect memory, through a combination of mental exercises, magical enhancement, and innate gifts.
The Last Work of Alan Tax: Adler’s mentor, a fragment of the soul of a dead and excentric Archmage embedded into a book, which can answer any question within his fields of knowledge. The trick, as the first page says, is asking the right question. Given that Alan Tax was possibly insane, this is harder than it seems. Alan can also manifest himself as a 6 inch tall “chibi” image of his form, which appears as 18th century gentleman somewhere in his early thirties. She leaves him at home, more often than not, to forestall mischievousness.
Description:
Alexis is, for the most part, a total nerd. She tends to go off most often on the topics of cryptography (and, by extension, any sort of hidden meaning. Riddles are a bad idea), communication, books, and magical lore, talking until someone brings her back to earth. She tends towards cheerfulness and openness, and is fascinated by discovering how new people think and communicate. She tries to be the mediator in any sort of confrontation, hoping to resolve conflicts before they become violent or hurt people’s emotions. Alexis is also completely addicted to caffeine, and is rarely seen without either tea or coffee close at hand.
Physically, she’s quite slight, leading some to think she’s younger than her age, and slightly pale from lack of healthy sunlight. Her appearance is closer to “cute” than “attractive”, which really doesn’t help matters, especially when it comes to getting people to treat her seriously. While not particularly frail, she’s physically weaker than average for a human of her size.
Oh, also, she’s a native of Corpus Christi, Texas. Twang.

Let the questing begin…
Some basic information-
Name: Lysa (her last name is unknown- she doesn’t even know if she ever had one)
Gender: Female
Age: Her official answer is 26, though she's actually a little unsure. She knows she's older than 25 and younger than 30.
Physical Description: She is somewhere between five and five and a half feet tall, with tanned skin from spending a lot of time outside. Her hair is black and very short, and her eyes are a grayish-blue. If you see her, she will probably be wearing blue jeans, black boots, a navy blue shirt and a leather coat, unless it’s warm out, in which case she’ll leave the coat at home.
Home: Lysa lives in a small apartment towards the middle of Barton Town. In her apartment are a wide variety of objects from her travels. Her bookshelves are full of atlases, informational books on different countries and their cultures, and a wide assortment of mythology, fantasy and sci-fi tales. Lysa had an urge to wander when she was really little, and it shows in the souvenirs scattered around her cluttered apartment.Background: Lysa has spent the majority of her life so far wandering. Her parents were constantly traveling, and when they died she kept on wandering. Now, her travels leave her feeling more and more lonely, unable to ever really take part in all the cultures she’s seen, unable to really ever make a friend, since she is forever moving. The excitement and call of the road has given way to the need for companionship. Now she has decided to try and settle down in this strange place called Gaia, where she makes a living working at a museum.
Personality: Lysa is someone who seems naturally relaxed, in any situation. This is not actually true, she can be very nervous (especially when actually interacting with people), but she can usually hide it well. Lysa derives great pleasure from just watching people. Well, watching anything, really. If there's something new, she will want to know more about it. She’s developed a certain skill for reading people, which has enabled her to diplomatically get out of many a sticky situation, along with being pretty good at improvisation. Lysa is very friendly, tries not to offend anyone, and is a great listener. Don’t make her angry though. In her rare (very rare) moments of true anger, the calm, cool atmosphere around her quickly becomes a hurricane. Hair Color: Jet black, though fading thanks to chlorine
Hair Length: Cropped close to ears
Eye Color: Jade green
Eye Shape: Slightly rounded
Other Physical: Standing about 6'1" and comes in around 155 lbs on the weight scale, he is very toned and looks proportionate in terms of height and weight. His skin tone is tanned thanks to his time spent swimming at the local pool. He likes to dress business casual over anything fancy or anything sloppy, often preferring to wear khakis over jeans and collared shirts over t-shirts.
He also has a tattoo on his back that he keeps hidden from his grandmother, one in the shape of a rising phoenix. When he swims it seems to flap its wings and fly.
Sometimes he wears glasses when he reads, though they don't seem to have lenses in them and he admits that he wears them to make him look smarter and attract girls who like guys with glasses.

Personality: A polite young man raised by his American grandmother and Japanese grandfather while his parents gallivant overseas. Sociable and polite to all those who meet him, he does have a bit of a devious streak that usually results in him getting in slight trouble with his grandparents. He likes to have a good time regardless of the situation and is willing to go the extra mile to make sure of it.
Despite his general laid-back nature he is very competitive when it is called for and is fairly hard on himself should he not achieve the position he wants. He aspires to be number one in all of his endeavors but at the moment seems content to accept a lower place. Hisame is, however, incredibly skilled at the use of tonfa despite all of his denouncing of his prowess and has yet to be defeated in a tourney though his skill in swim meets leaves something to be desired. That is unless he's part of a team relay, in which case he does quite well, since it seems he is able to do more when he is working to help out others.
Not so much a follower or a leader, he has a 'my pace' kind of outlook on life and takes things in stride. Hisame doesn't get shocked easily thanks to this, but it also comes back to bite him when he doesn't prepare for an event and is left cold and stranded.

My shop thread RPs: (will post and link soon) Name: Bahiti Age: 26 Gender: Female Hair: Thick black and wavy - reaching her upper back, although usually parts of her hair are up in buns or braids. Eyes: Light brown Skin: medium brown Clothes: An assortment of different pieces that she can mix and match to suit her mood, and layer on top of other pieces in an endless variety. Lots of sashes, scarfs, etc. Most pieces tend to be hand-dyed in bright colors. Occupation: Artist, specializing in painting, although a dabbler in other kinds of art. Technically a freelancer, but she has been getting a lot of work commissioned by one family of patrons. Her favorite style is surrealism. Personality: A bit eccentric, but kind and outgoing. She feels that it is her mission to bring more beauty into the world. She is well educated, but chose to pursue a career in the arts rather than in academics. Family: Only child, with parents living far enough away that she doesn't see them often.

Gender: Female
Hair: Could be dark brown or could be an extremely dark red, and often has various braids and beads threaded seemingly randomly throughout it. It's about chin-length in the front, framing her face, and shorter in the back, and curly.
Eyes: Dark brown.
Other Physical Tidbits: Autumn stands at around 5'8". Her nails are too short, and their unevenness suggests that nail-biting is most likely the cause for this. She wears two silver rings on each hand, and prefers to dress in eccentric or elegant clothing. She wears thickly framed oval glasses, which she needs in order to see anywhere other than directly in front of her face.
Occupation: College student, with a focus on music and writing. Autumn plays the violin and piano, both of which she is fairly skilled at, as well as the guitar, which she is teaching herself. She works at a restaurant when she's not in school, relying on the money that she makes during breaks to last through the times when she's in school.
Residence: Autumn is living on her own in a small 1-story house within walking distance of the restaurant that she works at.
Family: Autumn's older sister, Kyoki, looks in on her from time to time. This is the only family that she is currently in communication with, having gone off on her own when she turned 18.

My shop thread RPs: pg. 646 into 645465, 467, 477, 478, 479 Name: Mako Ashikage (Given name, Family name) Age: 23 Gender: Male Hair: Black with lighter highlights - in a slight ponytail that never gets loner than his shoulders Eyes: green-blue (slightly changes depending on what he wears) Skin: slightly tan Clothes: typically wears Jeans, t shirt and a sweatshirt or his Gi/dobok. Most of his cloths are darker and natural colors. Occupation: Student (senior) at Gaia University. He is a Master Scuba diver, and sometimes will take jobs on the boats out of Gambino during the summer. He works and trains in Martial Arts, self defense styles mostly. Is also a poet and artist at times, though he mainly draws sketches and does mostly free verse poetry, as a hobby. Personality: He is a rather calm, laid back and welcoming person. He is very much an animal person as well as an outdoors enthusiast. He has a few pets around him usually. He takes cruelty and disloyal as a high offense and will usually deal swift justice to the offender. While teaching or training he is very focused, somewhat strict and usually tries to make the learning enjoyable/fun. And when he does get truly mad ... one would rather deal with a starving shark than Mako. He is Rich but he rarely show or flaunts it, it was left to him from his family, its the only real solid information he has on them. Physical Description: He is rather short around 5 foot 5 inches. He has broad shoulders. He is rather muscular but in the sense of a martial artist or swimmer. He is skin is fair but he spends much of his time outside so he is rather tan. His hair just touches his shoulders if he leaves it down, but he rarely has out of a low ponytail that he almost always has it in. the Hair is straight and a black with lighter highlights that have appeared from his exposure to the sun. Family: As far as he knows, all of his family is dead or gone ... having no recollection of them, he has no to little feelings to this. But he knows that they where rich and very well off, from what was left for him. Home: He has a small condo in Durem, and a apartment in Gambino. In his Condo and Apartment he has areas for his numerous pets and a workout area. The condo is a three floor condo with 4 bedrooms 3.5 baths and most other standard rooms. the apartment is a 3 room apartment. two bedrooms and a common room. He has very nice places to stay.

Weight: 106 lbs
Race: nymph/drow elf
Hair: brown with reddish highlights, wavy, gathers at the small of her back
Eyes: green
Distinguishing Features: Phaerna's skin is ashen gray in color, her ears are tapered points, and her features hold an angular beauty that all speak of her drow heritage. On her back sit a pair of small wings, resembling autumn leaves that are ice-blue in color. They are useless for flight and she often keeps them folded away beneath her clothes. On her cheeks and either of her hands are small scar-like swoops and swirls, also ice-blue in color, reminiscent of the gnarled tree patterning on most wood nymphs' skins
Family: Phaerna is a former ward of an adoption agency. She knows nothing of her biological mother/father, and has always called Talonfaust and Yeande her parents and their son, Zhane, her older brother. Despite the fact their walks of life often take them far from her, Phae loves her family immensely.
Attire: Phae is usually seen in dresses or skirts that do not restrict her movement and wears them in soft or earthy colors. She prefers things with minimal or no patterns, but is sometimes seen wearing floral-embroidered outfits. She often keeps her hair loosely tied back with a silk ribbon and, in colder months, wears a shawl around her shoulders that covers her wings
Personality: Phaerna is painfully shy and often keeps to herself, though she is a gentle sort if one is able to get to know her. She has a special love for animals and plants and is more likely to come out of herself when in the presence of one or both. Overall, she means well, and just has a hard time relating to others outside of her family.
Powers/Abilities: Phaerna has the ability to 'coax' plants to do as she likes, whether it is making flowers bloom and seeds sprout early, or making a tree's branches grow in a certain shape.
Talents: She has played the harp since she was a child. While her ability with it is not awe-inspiring, she knows her way around the instrument well enough to produce lovely music.
Weaknesses: Aside from her personality keeping her from relating well to others, Phae is deathly afraid of the dark and wasps. While harp music may be her strong point, she cannot sing very well. Her voice is far too wispy to sound pleasing in song.
Likes: Springtime, long afternoons in the garden, reading, soft music, spending time with her family, pastel colors

I've read and understood the entire Caretaker's Guide,
and I do want to play!

Race: Zephaire Angel ((White tiger))
Hair: long down to her waist raven black hair
Eyes: color of the blue sky that seems to darken, as the full moon gets closer.
Distinguishing Features: Virendra has a very exotic beauty to her, being a anthro white tiger. She has typical cat ears, the inside of them are light gray. Under the corner of each eye is a teal star that would glow bright when the there was a full moon. Also on the top of each hand was a teal star surrounded by a crescent moon that was black on the in and would slowly change to teal. On her back is a large set of white-gray wings. Along the base of the wings are interesting rune marking, the feathers go from white, to gray to a gray blue at the bottom of the feather.
Brief History: Virendra is a white tiger angel known as a Zephaire Angel. She came to Aylana just when Aylana thought there was nothing in life to live for. She gave Aylana the very hope she needed for living. She was a sweet little child who tried hard to get people to understand what she was trying to say.
It�s wasn'�t until her cousin Ernia figure out that Virendra was mute and deaf that everything change. Aylana became even more protective of Virendra; she enrolled Virendra into ballet class so she may have another way of speaking. Virendra slowly grew to hate being always protected, so she would find comfort in her dancing. She would soon find friendship in her older sister Drac who would join the family when Virendra was eight years old. They were always together, and soon Drac would become Virendra very voice.
Personality: Virendra is a bright confident woman. She knows what she wants, and knows how to go about it to get it. If you'�re someone she knows, she becomes very animated. Her hands become her voice just as her dancing does. She takes pride in knowing she can stand on her own now. That she doesn't really need help from other, in order to be understood.
Powers/Abilities: Depending on the phase of the moon, Virendra as the ability to project what is going on within her mind. The closer the full moon is, the clearer the image. She can project this either into one mind if they are telepathic, or right in front of her.
Weaknesses: Not only is she mute, but she can't hear you at all. But she doesn't really defined this as a weakness anymore. Her true weakness is trying to get a total stranger to actually listen to her.
Talent: The biggest talent she has is her ability to read lips, as well as expression.
Likes: Moon, night, dancing ballet, the vibration of notes as music plays, hymn, thunderstorms, waterfalls, and watching the stars play over the top of the water at night.
Dislikes: Being told she is weak, or told she can't do anything.

Distinguishing Features: Does not believe she has any, any longer. Before the birth of her Fa'e son, Levi, she had a pair of wings, as well as purple marks along her hands and feet, and black tattoo-like designs on her face, wrists, ankles and shoulder.
Brief History: Born to the Fa'e couple Kia and Taka, Omi was raised, as are most Fa'e, by a guardian that was chosen for her before her birth. The one she calls father is a kitsune hanyou named Youkochylde, who taught her the ways of his Japanese heritage from the time she came into his family. While her life has had its ups and downs, Omi wouldn't change it for anything, as it's shaped who she's become. She has recently grown withdrawn and perhaps sad since her son was given over to his guardian.
Personality: Omi tends to be more sarcastic and easy going with her friends, but when in public stays behind the cool veneer of her Japanese upbringing.
Powers/Abilities: Psychokinesis. Including moderate telekinesis and psychometry, as well as minor telepathy and precognition.
Weaknesses: Her own self-doubts.
Talent: Archery.
Likes: Quiet, calming music, tea, the Japanese-style bath in Youko's home.

My shop thread RPs: p612 p613 p614 p730 p731 p732 p762 p763 p764 Name: Dori Elf Age: 20 Gender: Female Height: 5 feet 4 inches Weight: 170-ish lbs Hair: dirty blonde hair cut boyishly short Eyes: Light blue, with yellow radiating out from the pupil (picture a blue version of hazel) Appearance: Dori is extremely pale, so pale in fact that her veins can be seen through her skin in a few places. She's of average height and a bit heavy, with the extra weight settling round her stomach and bust. Her best feature is her legs, which are long and shapely. Her worst feature is her caboose... which is very VERY flat. Personality: Dori can be very shy, but it's not hard to make friends with her; really all you need to do is offer her food. Keeping her friendship is more difficult however, because as she becomes more anxious about doing something wrong she'll try to avoid contact. She is generally cheerful, unless the anxiety attacks are really bad. She can have trouble seeing the viewpoints of others. Talents: Dori is fairly good at painting and at singing. She lacks confidence in her own work though, so seldom wants to share.
