Nanaki is the rightful name given to Red XIII at birth. The name Red XIII came only when Hojo grafted him into the Promised Land project. In case you didn't know, he also has a tattoo of XIII on his shoulder given to him when he became Hojo's specamin.

Thonek Yep, she got it. Nanaki is a much better name. I wont argue that Red XIII is a great name (probably why I always change it then) but its better then "Nanaki" any day.

i love the name nanaki it gives much more life to the character, than Red XIII, just his color and the number specimen he was... :/

I tend to change his name to Nanaki while I'm playing. I always thought it was weird that the game never used his real name.

RasaiDeaar I tend to change his name to Nanaki while I'm playing. I always thought it was weird that the game never used his real name. I did that. Its funny when you go to his home town and Clouds like "Whose Nanaki?" and then that dude is like, "Nanaki is Nanaki's real name." its just like WTF. 'Cause its suppose to be "Nanaki is Red XIII's real name." hahaha

Similarly i often call Barret Mr.T (for obvious enough reasons) and theres that one bit in the Shinra head quarters where Aeris says thank you Mr.Mr.T and Barret says Mr.Mr.T that don't sound right xd

I liked Red name better than Nanaki but in the game he wasnt a really important character like even though Vincent was Optional he played a bigger role being a former Turk and how come Reno and the rest didnt notice him

Nanaki is Red XIII's original name before ShinRa laid hands on him. After words, after FFVII, we still call him Red XIII

I always name RedXIII "Nanaki" too! It makes the line in Cosmo Canyon, "Nanaki is Nanaki." all the more poignant.

chrisjudy Vincent was Optional he played a bigger role being a former Turk and how come Reno and the rest didnt notice him Um probably because they weren't even born when Vincent was a Turk, try to remember that was 30 years (roughly) before the game was set.
