POPULARITY/FEAR POINTS:
AKA: Constructive Criticism
These
character development points are admittedly a bit subjective, BUT we are also easy to please. They're not impossible to attain, though we can guarantee you that we're going to start going through your RP posts and picking your character apart to look for these points.
They based on things like:
"Is your hero really being heroic, or did he fudge it all up?" or
"Was that REALLY something evil, or just a little sassy?" These are points that show how much public attention your character is likely to have gotten, and how much esteem (or fear) (s)he has among his/her peers.
The Basics of Gaining These Points:1) DYNAMIC character... Dynamic is a literary term to MAKE YOUR CHARACTER CHANGE. Life happens. People change. No different here. If your character has not shown ANY change and you're trying to do a 10 year jump with him/her....You're simply not going to meet the point requirement.
2) Dynamic character WITH reason.... On the other hand, people don't wake up and suddenly start singing with the birds in the morning when they've always previously been night-owl pessimists. We expect an answer to that question: Why?
3) Personalities consistent with position: Everyone makes mistakes. No one fits the stereotypes perfectly. These are two facts that make characters endearing to us. On the other hand, to have a Villain who falls in love with a Super character and they agree on an eternal love no matter what is foolish. Someone's personality or position has to change in that situation. Watch yourselves. Play with the lines, muddle them about a bit. That's FUN. But don't claim to be something you aren't.
4) IC Exposure: If your character does NOTHING but train all day...how do you expect him/her to be famous? They're in the gym getting buff, not on the street getting bruises. You might be the best singer on the planet, but unless you get out there and SING, no one will recognize you. Depending on the RPs you are involved in and the PR they receive may very well make a huge decision on your popularity.
Something to Note: Do you see how your solo and joint RP requirements were dropped to get to this stage? That's because an unknown number of those type of RPs are exactly what's likely to get you those points. Of course, the other requirements will help you as well, but you can not depend on them alone.
