The last thing Noel expected the gym to be was a massive restaurant café. He awed at the sights and smells that permeated the air, also feeling just a bit underdressed for the occasion. He didn’t need to be all fancy and dressed up for this gym battle, did he? Was he even in the right place? He certainly hoped so. Algernon wiggled in his arms, gaze shifting about before giving a soft ‘coo’ to draw Noel’s gaze to a waitress behind a podium.
"Uhm, excuse me. Ma’am?” The waitress looked up as she was addressed, perking up and smiling at him. ”Well hello there! Are you looking to make a reservation?”
"No ma’am. I was wondering, is this the Striaton gym?" Maybe he was in the wrong place? The waitress smile grew a little more as she stepped around the podium. ”Of course! I’ll take you right back if you’re ready.” Noel grinned. Great! He was in the right place!
"Yes please!" He chimed excitedly. The waitress chuckled and nodded. ”Of course. What was your starter?” Noel blinked, looking a wee bit confused at the question. "Uhm… it’s a Tepig. Why?" The woman nodded and turned, waving a hand to usher him to follow. ”Well the gym leaders will need to know of course so you can challenge them!” Noel’s frown turned curious. Wait, did she say gym ‘leaders’? Like… more than one? Huh… that was crazy to consider. He thought gym’s only had one leader…
So it was a surprise when he found that there weren’t one, but three leaders to this particular gym. He was also relieved to find out that he only had to challenge one of them; Cress apparently because of his starter type.
Noel gave a firm nod, setting Algernon down and stepping up to the challenger box. Cress seemed like a chill enough guy as he greeted him, though Noel was feeling a bit nervous none the less. Right, they could get through this. He just had to have a little faith….

Gym Leader Cress
Closing both eyes Cress took on a reflective look, two fingers pressing themselves against his forehead. It'd been some time since a challenger had come strolling, let alone someone with a fire-type that would lead to his ultimate appearance, and although he had lost the blue-haired gentleman was content over the fact that he'd given their white haired opponent a run for his money. "Congratulations, challenger, you've bested the strongest of the three brothers; you've accomplished something great." Cress' eye flashed open and he dropped his hand from his forehead, but kept it out long enough for a waiter to appear and hand him a silver tray. With practiced ease he balanced it with only three fingers and strode confidently to Noel, presenting him with the tray in a low bow, a badge and two discs on top. "As the league rules demand I now present to you the Trio badge, and the TM Psych Up." His eccentric display over Cress then straightened up, brushing his bangs from out of his eyes. "A word of advice, from a professional such as myself, keep training, it only gets harder from here."

Noel’s enthusiasm was muted by the outcome of the battle. While he was semi-relieved that he’d won, he was rather downtrodden over his pokemon’s fallings. He certainly had expected the battle to go a little more in his favor, especially once Hyde and Panpour took the field. But he supposed it was too high an expectation that a gym leader would be easy. It was probably a clever strategy to have those outside moves beyond just water typing.
Still he was… a little bummed. Shuffling in place, he looked up at Cress approached, trying very hard to hide the look of disappointment and worry that was trying to take over his features. Instead, he forced a smile and reached out gingerly to take his winnings. He kept his gaze lowered to the ground, bangs sort of hiding his face as he gave a bit of a nod. "Ah…. Thank you." He murmured, eyeing his winnings. He really wanted to be proud but it was hard at the moment. He tucked the items away into his backpack, giving Cress a bit of a startled look as he gave a final remark. Noel just sort of deflated a little more though, shifting the straps of his bag before promptly scooping Algernon back up into his arms.
"Ah… thanks. I will..." He grumbled and with that quickly turned and rushed his way back out the gym towards the direction of the gym. For now, he was just worried about getting his team healed up now. He could mope about his less than stellar performance later.

Noel was out of breath by the time he arrived at the pokemon center, having pretty much run all the way there without stopping. He took a moment to collect himself before handing over his pokemon once more to Nurse Joy to be taken care of, taking a seat and recollecting himself. He was still a little down about the gym battle results, but at least now his pokemon were being taken care and he could rest a little easier.
Cress was right; he’d need to train more before he took on the next gym. He took a deep breath and focused, taking a look at the racks and searching through for some information on the next gym. He wanted to take on the gyms and all but apparently he’d need to build up his team a bit more before he did. He didn’t have much issues with the idea of training… he just probably needed a few more pokemon to train. Maybe it was worth trying another region for a bit to look for some pokemon? He kind of had some ideas but it’d take a little looking and some research. And of course, he’d have to build the pokemon up once he’d caught them.
Hm… it was a plan though. One he was willing to go through with. He just needed to research some first….

Speak of the devil; as Ajicka grabbed her things, and Joltik skittered up her arm to her shoulder, Edge released himself. He shook his head and brushed a wing back over his face, earning a raised eyebrow from the girl. He began to speak-- but stopped when he seemed to realize Deoxys wasn't presented, and wasn't translating. Ajicka smirked, but her smirk disappeared as, a moment later, Elle apparently took up the task. "Now then--"'Sorry Ajicka.'"What I was trying to say was, I think you should know that that Deoxys fellow of yours made a slight trade with your items," Edge finished, fluttering in the air, eying the Joltik on her shoulder-- or his shoulder, as that was usually where he perched. He ultimately opted to land on her other shoulder, which would have gotten an eye roll, if Ajicka weren't so busy staring dead at him.
"I'm sorry, what!?" she snapped, quickly ripping her bag around, promptly knocking a flustered Edge off her shoulder as she started furiously digging through it. Joltik was small enough that a slight, sideways skuttle kept him well balanced. "What the hell!?" Ajicka tore the new mega stone out of her bag, then turned a furious gaze onto Edge. "Where's the other one?" she demanded, "I'm missing two megastones. Where's the other one?" Edge eyed her a moment, then swooped over, snatching the one from her hand.
"First of all, that one's mine. It was made for me. Second of all... I think he traded two of yours for it. It's not as though you had use for either of them..." he remarked absently. He tried to ignore the chill running under his feathers at the glare she gave him. "And you had nothing to do with this?" she hissed suspiciously, stepping towards him.

Ajicka scowled when Edge just stared at her, before landing nearby and looking off to the side. She rolled her eyes, trying hard not to lash out and punch something, before cracking her head hard to the side. She rolled her shoulders, forcing the irritation out as best she could. "Whatever. I don't have time to deal with you, anyway," she muttered, pivoting away and pulling out a pokeball, "I need to get ready for this stupid gym." The stupid gym that she was still just... horrifically over leveled for. She doubted it would even be much of a challenge, at this point, if any. She would try and use her weaker pokemon, but....

Even her weak pokemon were pretty strong. She looked down at Tynamo's pokeball. She had never met the pokemon, not even when she caught it. Elle had been the one to do that. She rolled the ball around in her hand for a moment, her eyes closed. Should she bother training, introducing herself, or... anything, really, before going to the gym? There didn't seem to be much of a point, and she would rather get to the more challenging gyms, anyway. Tucking the ball away again, she flashed a glance at Edge, and then headed for the gym. She might as well get it over with... and then she could move on to the next place. After that gym, it would probably be at least... a little more challenging.

While Ajicka was admittedly slightly tempted to get some other pokemon fo rthis battle, she did want to keep moving forward, so she headed for the gym. She eyed Edge as he settled on her shoulder again, with Joltik skuttling on her other shoulder, trying not to get tangled in some of her hair that had fallen forward from her ponytail. 'So,' she thought at him, deciding to keep the conversation quiet for the time being, 'How close do you feel to evolving, anyway?' The bird gave her a sideways, appraising look, then ruffled his feathers a bit and looked forward. '... I'll evolve soon enough. If we can get to training, it probably won't be long. And then I can put this stone to use,' he replied haughtily. She raised an eyebrow at him as she reached the gym.
'You do know you have two evolutions, right...?' she jabbed, rolling her eyes when he shot her a bitter glare in response. What? It was just a fact.

Ajicka brushed off Edge's lack of a reply (if you didn't count the facial expressions a pidgey could give) and made her way into the gym. Or... restaurant. She had had to ask someone how to find it, because honestly, unlike most, it wasn't at all obvious. When she did enter, she was greeted by a waiter. "Hello, table for one?" he asked, giving a friendly smile despire her dim demeanor. She swung her gaze over to him, shifting away slightly. "Um... No. I'm here to battle, actually. I was told--""Ah! Yes, let me go alert the gym leaders, then. If you don't mind me asking, what starter did you pick when you first started your journey?" he asked, lifting his notebook all the same. She narrowed her eyes a bit. "Um... Charmander," she muttered. He gave a nod, then swiftly headed off towards the back of the restaurant.
After a little bit, the waiter returned, and guided her to the back where the gym was so she could battle the gym leader. Or, well, one of them.

Gym Leader Cress
Wiping his hands with a spare cloth Cress waited until he felt his hands were clean before he recalled his Panpour, dipping into a bow afterwards. My, didn't he just feel popular? Not even a few hours had passed since his last challenger and come through. "You and your pokemon did well to best the strongest of the trio," the gym leader complimented before handing Ajicka her winnings on a, literal, silver platter. "It's not often I see a Tynamo this early into a trainer's journey," he mused. Once the badge and TM had been taken Cress gave one last bow, then swept his bangs as he straightened up. "Keep it up. I can see you going far."

Noel spent the time waiting for his pokemon to be healed reading and taking some notes. By the time Nurse Joy returned with his crew, he was fairly confident about where he wanted to head next. He’d train more, just as Cress had suggested, but first he would fill out his team. More pokemon meant more options in battle and in the long run, that would be useful. Feeling a little more chipper about the whole situation he hopped to his feet and went to the counter, thanking the nurse as he retrieved his team.
He let them out and checked them over, happy to see everyone healed up and recovered after what was a rather ambitious battle. Algernon was still rather nervous it seemed, happy that Noel was alright. Hyde continued to skip and dance about, mood returned and back to his full flower looking appearance while Wilbur was already snuffling about for the next great challenge. Seeing his pokemon primed and ready reminded Noel of his earlier catches and swiftly he deposited the strange pokemon into his PC for the time being. He’d figure out later what all he could do with them, but for now he wanted to make sure they were safely tucked away.
Once that was done he nabbed up the map from the table he’d been sitting at, looking it over once more before giving a little nod and ushering his team along and outside. "C’mon guys! Let’s get going…," He replied, starting towards the route to the next city.

Ajicka took the badge as it was handed to her, looking it over thoughtfully. "Who said I'm early in my journey?" she pointed out, before pulling out her badge case, and adding this one to her growing collection. "Thanks," she added, snatching up the TM. 'But you won't be seeing me again,' she mentally added flatly, turning and striding back out. Perhaps it was her impatience, her annoyance, or her general bad attitude, but she definitely wasn't feeling conversational. Or perhaps she was being calloused and assumed the compliment wasn't sincere. NOt even she really knew, as she headed out, rolling the TM between her fingers before she put it away. She needed to head on to the next city.... and continue cutting her way through the gyms.

Unova. His home region. Now Lafayette had a clue about this region and the gyms here, even though he didn’t opt to start here. But he’d done enough listening and paying attention to passing trainers while on the battle subway to know what to expect. Striaton City was the first stop and he’d be paying a visit to a restaurant.
Not to enjoy a good meal or anything, but rather to get his battle on. He knew the gym had a unique twist; who you challenged depended on what your starter was. An interesting idea though it was hardly going to matter given his situation. Soon, like so many times before, Lafayette was entering the building, informing a waitress of his intentions, and maneuvering to the back where the battle platform was located, taking up his place on the other side while he waited for his intended gym challenge to appear. It seemed that for having a grass-type has his starter, he would face off against Chili, a young man with hair that looked like… fire. Which was straight ridiculous.
He set his things off to the side, leaving Cheri and Noah out to watch. He’d use someone else for the battle; Noah had done more than enough and this would be quick after all. Cheri watched a moment as Lafayette returned his attention to do battle, her gaze shifting to look to the X-transceiver that had slipped off his wrist in the process. The blonde hadn’t noticed and the pink Espurr took an interest, picking the device up and staring at the screen. Soon she was scrolling through his contacts until she located one in particular. A moment of thought and soon, she was composing and sending a message to the individual.
Text to Mel: Hello other human trainer. I hope all is going well for you and that you haven’t caught any illness from your monkey’s antics.
Noah glanced at Cheri as he heard the sound of a beep, staring a moment as he realized what she had. Wait a minute... how'd she get that and what was she doing?

Gym Leader Chili
"Talk about a hot one!" Chili cried as he returned his fallen Pansear, his grin as large as his hair. Even though not a single fire attack had been used he just had to use that line, because... well because he was Chili. "Your Arcanine is a resilient pokemon, definitely knows how to get up in your face." Compliments set in the hot-blooded gym leader made his way over to Lafayette to present him his rewards. "The Trio Badge and TM77, they're yours now. Keep it up!"

Lafayette quirked an eyebrow at the odd response, head tilting as Chili produced his fire based puns. They were… kind of lame. This guy had a thing for fire, didn’t he? It didn’t show in the battle but for good reason. Lafayette took his winnings, eyeing them a moment before stashing them away. "Thanks mate, ‘ppreciate it." He remarked, returning Micah and heading to collect his pokemon and things from the edge of the arena. He eyed Cheri a moment, noting that she had his X-Transceiver between her paws, glancing at his wrist in surprise. How’d that fall off? Strange.
Oh well, it was fine and it was safe. He scooped his bag up, gesturing with a little head jerk for Noah and Cheri to follow as they headed outside. It was on to the next gym at this rate, stopping only briefly to heal up Micah before hopping on Dova and flying off into the air once more.
