Cilan was growing more and more enamored with this interesting new pokemon under Cheria's possession. How strong it was! One bite and his lillipup was knocked out. Well, though now that Cilan thought about it, he couldnt give the lupup all of the credit. Davis had worn his lillipup down quite a bit. The true judge of this pokemon's strength would have to be Cilan's pansage. "Here lillipup, you did a great job. Return." Cilan consoled his normal type before producing another pokeball. "Pansage, it's up to you!" Cilian called out. He worked quite well with the grass monkey, and pansage had a bit more of a variety to his moveset, so hopefully things would be a bit more exciting.

Just as she thought. Lillipup was too worn out to endure Lupup's fangs. Cilan returned Lillipup and called out his Pansage. This shouldn't be a problem. "Use Dragon Breath!" Lupup was a Fairy and Dragon dual-type, right? So, then his ability should power up Dragon Breath. Lupup released a mist-like beam that glowed white. She heard Dragon Breath was different depending on the Pokémon. Looked like it was true. Did she feel bad for using it? Of course. That was a lot of damage for one hit from such a small Pokémon. But, she didn't want to fail and have to keep coming back. There were trainers who actually needed the Trio Badge. She just wanted it.

Cilan was genuinely surprised that a dragonbreath, and such a powerful one at that, came out of the lupup. It his his pansage squarely, knocking him back. "Oh my! Pansage, are you alright?!" Cilan asked with concern. For the first time during the battle, Cilan had lost his calm composure for a moment. "Pansage!" The grass type reassured him weakly, clamoring back to his feet. That attack had hurt for sure, and pansage even felt crackles of electricity coursing along his small body, slowing him down little by little. Thankfully being a grass type helped him resist the current a bit. He was certain he had at least one more attack in him. Cilan felt relieved at that. This lupup was not to be taken lightly for sure. "Okay pansage, let's give them a taste of our fury swipes!" He insisted, and the grass monkey nodded, leaping at Cheria's lupup with glowing claws. Once. Twice. Three times, and then a fourth, he hit. He would have tried for a fifth, but a sharp spark to his arm made him jolt back, landing in front of Cilan.

Cilan's shattered calm startled Cheria. Had she been too rough? Pansage recovered after a few seconds, and used Fury Swipes on Lupup. It didn't hurt him too bad, though. "Go ahead and use Bite, Lupup!" That should end the battle. Or, wait. Was Pansage immune to Dark moves? She couldn't remember.

That last bit did his Pansage in. Cilan wasn't surprised, the dragonbreath attack had hit pretty hard, it was only a matter of time before pansage went down. "You fought valiantly pansage, return for a well deserved rest." Cilan offered with a smile, then turned his attention to Cheria. "Well I'm afraid that's it for me. Congratulations!" He gave a courteous bow and approached Cheria with a smile. "Here, you've earned yourself the Trio badge, and the TM for Psyche Up. Take them as proof of your victory." He offered the badge out, along with his promised TM.

Cheria let out a relieved sigh when the battle ended. That was intense. But, neither Davis nor Lupup were knocked out, and that was great. They needed to be treated, though. Cilan came over to her and Cheria tensed, taking the badge and disc from him nervously. "Th....Thank you....I hope Lillipup and Pansage make a...full recovery. B-Bye...!" Cheria turned and darted from the gym, Lupup following as swiftly as his little legs would let him.

Scarlett smirked. "Pft, cheeky as always I see." Skye grinned as Scarlett dismounted. "You expected anything less?" Scarlett chuckled. "Ah, but speaking seriously, thanks far the ride Skye." She smiled, allowing Rave to perch on her shoulder. "Anything for you doll." Skye's smile was cute, if Scarlett didn't know any better, she'd say it was almost smitten. Her eyes narrowed playfully, waving him off and he took to the skies again and sighed. "Alright, let's get this over with then, yeah?" Scarlett glanced sidelong to the noibat on her shoulder, who chirped in agreement.

Cheria waited patiently until Lupup and Davis were returned to her, receiving a text from Simon about Sonia and responding to it, before she turned to witness the unusually violent behavior of a Pidgey that seemed to leave the trainer who caught it for Skye. That was...unusual. Maybe it just liked him more. Skye didn't seem to object as he broke the old pokéball and used a luxury ball to catch the Pidgey. Did that count as stealing someone else's Pokémon? Pidgey did want to go with Skye. So, maybe not? Cheria looked over when a delivery girl came over to her and handed her a package. Going to sit next to Skye, she opened the package and saw a ton of items. Jeez! Her mother was spoiling her so much!

2/3 Movement | 74/5 Pokemon Encounter | 40/15 Trainer NPC | Item Bumps: 10/10 Heart Scale | Need to Claim: Roman Candle, TM of Choice | Wishlist: Expert Belt x2, Heart Scales, Lagging Tail, Metal Coat Team OOB: Scarlett made her way over to the Striaton gym, which wasn't too far off from the pokemon center Skye had dropped her off by. When she walked in, three young men were talking amongst themselves rather worriedly. Cilan had by then healed his pokemon and was discussing Cheria's strange exit. "Was it perhaps something I said...?" He asked his brothers curiously. "Pft, Cilan I think you're just not the charmer you'd like to be." Chili teased. "Now Chili, don't go teasing poor Cilan, even you have to admit her behavior came rather abruptly and with no indication as to why." Cress chided the redhead. Scarlett arched a brow. Were they talking about the pair she'd seen coming out of the gym to the pokemon center earlier? One of them did seem a bit shaken, but Scarlett herself didn't meddle in emotional affairs. Certainly not her cup of tea. She cleared her throat to make her presence known amongst the three gym leaders, and as she expected, they turned her way. "Oh! Apologies miss. Were you looking to battle?" Scarlett would have been annoyed by the comment if she wasn't in such a good mood. "Well if I wasn't, I'd be in the wrong place, don't ya think?" Scarlett countered. "Right, yes of course. Would you mind telling us which starter pokemon you received from the region you started your league challenge in?" Cress inquired. Scarlett thought about it. Honestly she didn't want to give any indication that she'd stolen her starter. If she mentioned that she had gotten a piplup, it might cause some suspicion. "I started with a Squirtle." Scarlett lied. "Would you mind showing us? For the record I mean. It's standard practice, you'd be surprised how many trainers come in trying to lie about their starter so that we don't have a type advantage over them." Cress chuckled. Scarlett figured they might ask that. This was why she'd lied with a Squirtle instead of something she didn't actually have. She sent Pearl out with a relaxed toss as her proof, earning an accepting nod from Cress, though Cilan was the one who spoke up. "Ah, then your opponent will be me." He explained with a smile, stepping forward. "Aw nuts. Cilan's been getting all the fun, not fair!" Chili complained. Scarlett smirked at that. She'd heard about the Striaton gym method before, though it was interesting to see it for herself. It wouldn't have made a difference whether she told the truth about her piplup starter in Sinnoh, she would have been fighting Cilan either way, except this way she didn't have to be concerned about fitting the description Rowan likely put in for her arrest along with the pokemon she'd stolen. Cilan sent out a pansage to start, and Scarlett returned Pearl in favor of sending out Damion to fight. "I have to say, your technique of trying to put my starter at a disadvantage is admirable, but I'm not so dimwitted as to bring just my starter to this fight." Scarlett suggested with a wry smile, keeping her accent toned down among the gym leaders. "Good, that's the lesson we try to teach here." Cilan smiled. With a fire type, Scarlett could-- Wait. One glance down to the houndour and Scarlett noticed he was snoozing on the floor. Clearly pissed off, Scarlett struggled to control herself. "Oi! Get up you lazy mutt!" She hissed impatiently. What did the houndour think this was, a napping contest?! "Sorry, but... As they say, you snoose, you lose. Pansage, use Fury Swipes!" Cilan commanded. Four times Damien was struck with the pansage's claws, effectively waking the albino houndour up. Damien shook the attack off, growling back at Scarlett in annoyance as if it were her fault. "What? I told you to get up. That's what you get far choosin' t' sleep when I send you out to battle. Now use ember." She growled back, unable to keep her accent from slipping out in annoyance. Surprisingly enough, the houndour obeyed, now fully invested in charring this grass type to a crisp. He blasted the pansage with embers as Scarlett had asked, and though Cilan had the grass monkey attack with fury swipes again, but it only managed to get in two hits before Damion retaliated with another ember. That seemed to do it. The little monkey gained a strange green aura after that hit, somehow still managing to stand after bearing through all the flames without being burned too badly. "...What's it doing? That's... Freaky." Scarlett commented, eyes narrowing. "That would be pansage's Overgrow ability. Allow us to demonstrate. Pansage, use Vine Whip!" Scarlett narrowed her eyes and scoffed. "You're a special kind of stupid, aren't ya? In case you haven't noticed, Damien is a fire--" Scarlett abruptly was cut off mid sentence as the vine whip struck and knocked Damien out cold. Cilan wasn't surprised. "As I was saying.... Pansage's overgrow powers up grass type attacks when he's on his last legs. True, if your houndour hadn't been weakened with his fury swipes before hand, this attack wouldn't have been the finishing blow, but your houndour is sluggish and untrained. Sorry to say, but to be frank; it didn't stand a chance, even with a type advantage." Cilan explained as gently as possible. Scarlett wasn't taking it very well though, she was downright broiling on the inside. She wasn't mad at Damien, no, her anger was directed at Cilan for thinking so lowly of her. Sure Damien was untrained, she'd meant for this to be his training, figuring he'd have an easier time against a grass type. Cilan acted like she didn't realize that the houndour was weak and untrained, and it was pissing her off. "Fine, you want a trained pokemon to battle? Here." Scarlett sneered, returning Damien to his pokeball and sending out Cypher. "Be careful what ya wish far." She growled, making eye contact with the porygon and jerking her chin subtly towards the pansage. Cypher's eyes locked onto the little monkey and began to crackle with electricity, firing a Zap Cannon to finish it off. It wasn't very effective, but was still more than powerful to finish the pansage off, as Cilan had so kindly done to Damien. Cilan had somewhat seen it coming, it wasn't like his pansage wasn't weakened either. Swapping to his lillipup, Cilan prepared himself but.... Cypher surged forward without a word from Scarlett. She didn't have to say anything. Cypher was truly Scarlett's starter, they'd been working together long enough now that Cypher knew what she wanted him to do. That bond was what made him strong. Cypher slammed into the lillipup with enough force to knock it out and then some, effectively ending the battle.
