A layer of powdery snow covered the Swamp. The trees were unwelcoming, cold to the touch. A dark blue colt shivered as he walked quietly around in one of the dangerous areas of the Swamp. Every sound that wasn’t his own caused him to whip his head about. He was nervous. He was anxious. He was scared.

Scared in this frosted landscape, Feral Storm’s survival instincts were in complete control. Every hiss, howl, and roar made his heartbeat quicken and drove him to hiding in any large brush he could find.

He had a reason to be scared though. He was small and would make easy prey for a caiman or alligator to catch. While this knowledge alone scared him, it was the knowledge that he was being hunted that terrified him.

As he hid in some bushes to calm down, Storm once again grew anxious and frightful. The world around him had gone silent. No sound could be heard. His heart beat harder than ever as time stopped.

It returned only at the sound of an evil snarl followed by snapping jaws. Time seemed to be moving faster, catching up with itself as Feral Storm sprinted out of the bush being chased by the rows of terrifying teeth.

Eventually the monster had stopped and he was safe. He hid himself in a hollow tree as night fell.

“I’m all alone,” he said, as he cried himself to sleep.

This would be the last night that he would ever cry himself to sleep.
