Darkness surrounded them, but River could still feel and smell the earth near. There was an eerie feel as her breath was stolen from her lungs. That translucent being made her nervous. She instead listened to Gig’s mild directions. River raised an eyebrow as she said, ”So you think they are gonna keep coming at us?” she was actually relieved he denied her idea of fire. Though it would probably be quicker, than to take them all one by one with simple bullets. Which gave her another idea, her grenades. Not sure if it will help; but the skeletons seemed feeble enough. She glanced back at Gig once more and noticed him staring at the blue like apparition. Why didn’t he say to take that dude out first? She thought before she once more looked at Gig. He seemed shaken. He can’t be scared… can he? She thought doubting her thoughts, So she shook her head slightly before she focused on the enemies again. Gotta help calm things. She thought. Wracking her brain, she was unsure what to do. Grinning slowly, she realized what she could do. ”We could always use some more target practice. Right?” She said as she aimed her guns at the skeletons surrounding them. They creaked as they moved, their weapons seemed old. Too old to work, yet they still stayed whole. In the back of her head, River was more curious about the spell doing this, than the enemies. It could be really useful in a fight as a distraction. Was that what the ghost was doing? A distraction? She kept one eye focused on it, then waited for Gig’s signal.

There were so many of them, while they were easily taken down, but if either river or gig missed surely they skeletons would rush the. For the time they held there ground surrounding gig and river waiting sizing gig up, much as gig did the same to them. "...Hey.....you might want to load tracers..... we need ever bullet to count.... if we dont hit them we probably be over run....just a bit o advice." Gig would piratically whisper over his shoulder to river, then he would stall longer encase she was changing her ammo. The skeletons seemed to be getting ancy, clashing there weapons against the ground. See the problem wassnt killing them, one bullet would break a bone and probably knock the skeleton apart, the problem was in hitting a bone. Those pile of bones would probably just make another skeleton for every one destroyed, meaning the goal was to deplete the bone piles until no more skeletons could re construct, easy enough. So as long as river and gigs ammo reserves lasted, plus while skeletons were easily disposed of....they had some old rough nasty looking weapons. Time had word at the weapons making most rough and serrated though no muscle was behind it...they were gonna feel it.

Despite his greatest efforts however giglamesh kept looking at the apparition moving about over head, it was making him shake, gig would nearly make himself nervous watching it many fears plaguing his mind. The skeletons creaked and clanked about around them, yet gig was focused upwards the apparition jut moving from pillar to pillar, could it sense the instability with gig, could it see fear within him? It would grab a pillar and lunge closer, and instantly gig returned his aim back to the specter firing both guns one time...then to gig horror the bullets went right threw and the apparition literally laughed and backed off, and the skeletons rushed in. gig was unsure what to think for a moment but for rirver didnt waste too much time and just began opening fire with both handguns in sweeping motions, always right then left in perfect timing.

River scoffed at the remark. She did not miss as much as she did before. Besides… she did not think changing the ammo would make much of a difference. They seemed weak and she was not concerned. When Gig suddenly fired at the apparition, River was surprised. There was no way that would work... he must know that… She thought and was about to comment, but she was still doubting what she was seeing. She paused before she counted, at a glance, what was left of the horde. More survived than she expected. Something was most definitely wrong. She gripped her gunblades tight, ready to step up and show she was useful. Maybe this time he would actually notice.

River quickly fired at four skeletons with Niht, the four that was closest to her right side. In bursts of three, the bullets tore through the air at the feeble enemies, while she aimed with Sigel firing at another three to her left. She disliked that the bone dust kicked into the air. Breathing in spores of dead beings. Kinda creepy.

The four skeletons durring the barrage of bullets charged in and attacked, two at river with great swords, one at gig with a battle axe and one shooting a arrow.

75-125 - 21x2=108-208
The two skeletons would manage to hit gig, and river, then they would try to step back. If any bone was hit but a bullet the bone would shatter and the skeleton would immediately fall apart. But after the first four attacks, bones would begin to float and circle around gig and river a specific distance away from them. Then just as the first time eighteen skeletons formed on top of the two from first batch there were twenty skeletons.

Durring the shooting one skeleton approached with a axe and swung, gig barely noticed it last minute and tried to block it with akai, but was unsucessfull taking a small gash to his right forearm. Nothing more then a scratch, but in retaliation he quickly slashed his akai at the skeleton's head. Then almost at that exact instance a arrow narrowly missed his upper left arm scratching him in passing. While they had no power behind there attacks there seemed fairly organized. Giglamesh dropped Aoi from his left hand and right before it hit the ground grabbed ahold of the chain connecting akai and aoi. With a single three sixty spin gig would swing it high in to the air, to bring at length, aoi down atop the skeleton. Wasting no time giglamesh would jerk the chain back catching aoi in his left hand, which he would just as before begin firing round after round at the reformed skeletal horde.

The damage done was trifling at best, causing no reason for alarm. Though the apparition ahead of them left a churning unease. Mostly due to the fact Gig was greatly distracted. As long as he kept killing the skeletons, River would make no remark. She watched the skeletons hit by Gig’s weapon shatter, and aimed carefully firing at seven of the remaining enemies. Each one dropped into a heap of scatter bones; but she knew this was not yet over. She had enough ammo to last a while, but she had a problem with patience when dealing with weak enemies. She would rather fight something that gave her a rush of fighting for her life, than something that can hardly harm her. Something that breaks apart with a single bullet.

The skeletons just kept coming and they were met with hundreds of rounds of bullets, for the most part except for a few that would get threw from time to time giglamesh and river managed to hold them off. That was until the tables turned, the large apparition held a pillar and did some type of magic down threw it creating a shockwave across the ground, but nothing seemed to happen. Both the two continued to fight valiantly for some time, until about a minute passed and the ground started to break in a few spots. Where the concrete of the alter broke more undead came, but these were not just skeletons but corpses raised threw the same magic, a few bullets would find a much harder time taking these down. Some had weapons, some had makeshift ones, but despite being zombie like they were simply raised corpses, corpses that appeared to be corpses of those travelers and adventures that had recently fallen to this horde of undead.

Despite them being more formidable then the skeletons giglamesh and river still had no trouble dealing with them and the waves of skeletons at the same time. Giglamesh began using the scythe blades of akai bara and aoi yuri shooting, and slicing as needed, rarely getting touched. But as more and more corpses and skeletons continued to fight gig switched to hissatsu ichigeki, his massive chainsaw sword. He would create some room with a few swings then he would fire enchant the teeth and start it up, almost a sadistic grin on his face as the burning embers floated threw the air off the blade. Giglamesh would begin to swing the large blade and with each swing atleast one skeleton or corpse was utterly destroyed, some time even multiple with a single swing because its large size, the fight was going very well, but that was also the twos enemy time and stamina for they both were living and in time would tire.

The large legless apparition would let out a howls of sorts hitting a pillar sending another shockwave of blue light threw the area this time threw the air almost like a explosion. But it had no apparent effect on anything, till blue lights began to gather at the pillars. From those blue lights it appeared as if twisted souls would emerge. Torsos with tattered cloth hanging where legs would be, glowing of a feint blue energy they didnt seem to be anything more then manifestations of pure magic, there arms seemed to be belted to there torso's, eyes blindfolded and mouth gaping wide open, where the belts crossed a lantern hung from the front a chain from the rear. The would would connect back in to the pillars from the light that they emerged. The souls looked twisted and looked in incredible amount of pain. These souls would float around slightly above river and gig, not doing much but being there, but then there lanterns would glow before sending a small blue fire blast as the two. It didnt lack power but it was not the same as the fire gig and river knew, as it hurt but didnt feel hot.

Giglamesh was focused greatly on these apparitions, bodies would nearly pile around to hit him because of his lack of focus on his surroundings. Those around would be ripped and throw to pieces as he would wave ichigeki around cutting them to pieces, and then slashing at the apparitions. But his blade went straight threw, gig was sure he hit, but swung again. Still he did no hit, he arrogant grin turned to frustration and he began to almost randomly swing at a few apparitions over and over hectically. The some of approaching skeletons and corpses would be hit and destroyed as he randomly swung, but it was not intintial, he was just swinging trying to hit the apparitions his level head was gone he could not hit them and even gig's eye would show that there was no style or skill involved, he was swinging ichigeki around like a newbie that had just picked up the blade. Yet still he just kept swinging over and over, not even paying attention or trying to avoid attacks and damage he was just randomly swinging upwards at the ghosts.

The skeletons were easy kills, though a waste of bullets. She was mentally ticking off her ammo supply as she fired each round. Also giving a mental high five for each successful hit. The air seemed to be tick with bone meal. She tried to forget the fact she was breathing that air.

New enemies appeared, after what seemed to be an attack, it was instead a summon of sorts. The air was foul with stench as rotting corpses arrived. River kept quiet, she had no snarky remark towards these enemies. Though she did have a moment of EWWwwww when she saw one of the corpses missing their clothes.

Attack after attack, River kept up with the flow of enemies. She was starting to feel tired, but she sure as hell would not let anyone notice that. Instead she worked harder, and moved faster with every hit.

River made a side glance at her brother and saw he seemed to have snapped at the ghost. Unsure what to say or do, she simply tried to protect Gig from all enemies she could. Will this ever end? She was unsure how much longer they could last like this. "Hey! Big dummy, get a grip!" she said with a scoff. She needed Gig to snap out of it.

The damage the ghosts continued to deal was insignificant, and giglamesh continue to slashing wildly. He heard nothing river said nor a thought is his head, he was simply trying to hit the ghosts. Even as several skeletons approached, they were lain to waste from his random swings at the ghosts. Untill eventually one of his swings struck Ichigeki against the ground he held it there actually breathing deeply, almost panting. Why cant i hit them?....

With thought finally returned giglamesh feel deep in to his the black room of his subconscious. A man wearing nearly all white, including lab coat and leather shoes, walked in to the spot light. In left hand he held a clipboard he had on pretty stylish glasses, that seemed to be for actual vision and of decorations. Short blond hair expect one fairly long green bang, which he would repeatedly wipe away from the center of his face with right hand. "zero point zero three ounces of phosphorus, zero point zero zero seven ounces of tricetimipherne, an Trace amounts of unrecognizable substances. These creatures your wildly swinging at are nothing more then a concentration of amassed energy, with no physical form." He would write a few things on his clipboard as he observed giglamesh. "If something does not process a physical form yet can affect the physical form threw energy fluctuations, how do you suppose to hit these anomiles?" He would put his clipboard down to hsi side and hold out his hand as to either help or shake giglamesh's hand. "Then call out my name....."

Giglamesh would stand regaining his breath, and ichigeki would flare in to a puff of flame, he reached under his coat too his sides. Several skeletons took this chance to charge giglamesh as he possessed no weapon. Embers of fire would begin to swirl around giglamesh and as the skeletons would approach giglamesh would pull something out. "Genjitusu no Kakusa....." The skeletons would fall to pieces as they passed giglamesh, burned straight threw the bone with no resistance. giglamesh held some type of handle which from both ends a glowing orange and red blade which crackling embers emitted. They appeared to be blades, yet they looked ethereal as if they wernt solid but actually made of fire. Giglamesh would twirl the double sided weapon a few times before literally separating the single handle in too two single hand energy magic blades. Giglamesh stood there handle in each hand and with the piercing wind that ripped threw the valley would cause embers to fly around from the blades. They appeared to be blades caught on fire, yet they also looked like fire that was viewed behind glass. Very strange effect, but as giglamesh rushed two ghosts, it was clear what they did effect. "Sorry bout that....but my heads clear again, best way to destroy magic.....is with magic." giglamesh said as two of the ghosts he rushed past and attacked split in half before dissolving in to vapors. Once he drew out this new weapons he seemed to have a smirk the entire time, not from combat effectiveness, but like that of a researcher who found the best results possible.

River scoffed and muttered "I could have told you that..." but she shook her head. Whatever works, I guess. She thought with a shrug and she continued to attack whatever got in her way. Se was wondering if she should change weapons. So far, though it seemed one or two hits was all she needed, so she kept a tight grip on the handle of her gunblades; slicing through zombied flesh, or shooting skeletons. If this were not so repetitive, River would have fun. She liked battles; a junkie for adrenaline.

Time passed and River was starting to breathe in a pant, still holding her own... she was growing weary. Sweat dripped as she made a mental note of ticking off her exercise is officially done for the freaking week. She was keeping track of her kill count and patting herself on the back for the lack of wounds she gained. She was low on ammo; so she would have to switch weapons soon. "Is there no end to them?" She asked, growing worried as well. They would not last if this onslaught continued much longer.
