Consciousness greeted Tsu like a sledgehammer to the stomach. To say he was in pain was an understatement, but he refused to allow himself to pass out again. Slowly, he opened his eyes. He was back in the Soul Society. Unohana was tending to both him and Yuu. It was over, apparently. He allowed himself a moment to relax, but then remembered the events that had lead up to that point. "Hikari!" Frantically, the seated officer tried to make it to his feet, but found that his body was still not in good enough shape to stand. "The students... Did they make it back?"

The captain didn't look up from her work but answered him. "Many students made it back... yes. However some were not so lucky." When she finished she stood and turned away from Tsu. "As for my lieutenant, I was actually hoping that you could shed some light as to what happened?"

"Datto... Sora." The wounded officer managed to make it to a sitting position. "I.. Wasn't able to protect them... I failed... Hikari. Captain, they took her! They took...Hikari..." A hand went to his forehead, without thinking. He felt something cold and smooth stuck to his skin. He pulled it off, only to realize it was a leftover piece of the Hollow mask that had attached itself to his face. What did he do to me!? Images flashed through his mind from the battle. He could picture himself Hollowfied. Hear the bloodthirsty roars that had escaped him. He could see the broken body of Ukitake. It had only been a short amount of time, but so much had changed. Nothing would ever be the same again. "Captain Ukitake... He didn't make it back, did he...?"

The woman spoke coolly, completely in contrast to her feelings. "I... see." She was certain the hesitation in her voice didn't go unnoticed. But she continued, affirming what the seated officer and childhood friend to her lieutenant was asking. "Ukitake-taicho... he didn't make it." When she was certain that she could mask the chaotic mess of feelings she was experiencing perfectly again, she faced Tsurabisu for the first time, and noticed the piece of something that he had pulled off, then frowned slightly. Things are worse than I feared. She knew exactly what had happened to Tsurabisu. The problem was, what would she do about it? Would she report it, only to have him taken into custody and likely persecuted for something that hadn't been his fault and that he possibly had no knowledge of, or would she keep quiet and observe the situation more fully herself? She bit her lip and made her decision. "I've done all I can. It will feel better, just give it a little time. Try not to worry." She smiled wanly. "Things should calm soon enough." The matter was dropped, and the 4th squad captain continued to make her rounds, tending to the other injured shinigami.

Tsu glanced over at Yuu. He still seemed to be out of it. With a grunt of pain, Tsu managed to get to his feet. He still felt like hell, but the Captain of the fourth squad had healed his wounds for the most part. He knew he shouldn't be up, but there was no way he was going to be lying around after all that had happened. "Haru!" Tsu called to the student, not sure where he was, but feeling that he was close by. Not waiting for Haru to respond, the fourth seat slowly made his way toward the first squad. He needed to speak with Yamamoto about what happened. They needed to rescue Hikari and put a stop to Aizen. There was no way that he'd let Hikari down again. Lost in thought, almost missed seeing the leader of the Espada standing in the middle of the Soul Society. "D...Damian?" His hand instantly fell to his Zanpakuto. He knew he didn't have enough left to even present a challenge, but he was sure going to give it everything he had.

Mozou continue to walk in the endless dessert, training, feeding. All he wanted now was to speak to someone, mostly to Ayame. Mozou sat down and grabbed the white sand to see it flow through his hands as he thought about the day that made him into a hollow. He shook his head and stood up. I must find Ayame. He then stood up and used sonido to go back to Las Noches.
