It was a little comforting to know that someone besides zemself was feeling nervous and uncomfortable. Zey had never really realized before that there could be others at academy that felt so uncomfortable around people. Or...had there ever been? He said that he was new here, that this was his first year. "I've been here since I was awakened," zey said. "I don't think I've ever noticed the headmaster before, though. Not...a very public position, is it?
"It's...not really my thing, either," zey confessed. "Never been to a party before." But those pets were tempted zem...and maybe a plushie, to keep zeir old one company...?
Zalir took the geist's hand and shook it gently. "I am Zalir. Um...maybe we should...stick together?"

He shrugged just slightly. "I figured you had been." he said and then quickly added. "Not that I'm trying to be offensive, I just find that most everyone has been born and raised here at the Academy." he finished hoping he hadn't insulted the Litch.
He then considered and shrugged a bit. "I would imagine not, meetings to handle, funding to raise, dealing with overtly errant students. I wouldn't imagine you get out much in such a position." he mused.
"You're very lucky." he said without thinking. "I've been to far to many over the years." he said an old bitterness creeping into his voice which he promptly suppressed and returned to his previous demeanor.
He smiled just a bit as the Litch took his hand and he shook it gently but firmly before letting go and putting his hand back in his other behind his back. "Pleasure to meet you." he paused and then nodded. "I...wouldn't mind that." he said. "Perhaps you'd like to investigate the games? There's one over there that looks empty." He pointed towards one of the emptier booth and waited for the Litch to make a move on the suggestion.

The pink-haired Nightmare just continued to smile. Bamboo was a good name. She watched Jezebeth put the effort into trying to tame them, putting her hands on her hips as she waited without sass. Cassie followed after the Freshling once more, just a few steps behind her.
"I do, I have two," she informed brightly, standing off the side yet as Jezebeth played her games. "I do, I have two," Cassie beamed. "I have a rainbow Wisp named Tink and a mischievous Kidden named Noodle." She sighed a bit dramatically. "They're both a handful but I love them too. Noodle even sleeps under my covers sometimes," Cassie quipped, ears wiggling slightly in bemusement. Her familiars were good company, even if Tink was a little less interactive than Noodle.
Jaret smiled happily even if the games she mentioned weren't his best. "Hmm, I like the one where you throw the ball to knock over the bottle but I also like the one were you knock out the teeth of a clown or whatever with a ball." He admitted as he gently tugged her to where all the games where, starting with one of the games he liked. He sighed when the line was a bit longer than he cared to wait for, moving to bring them to one of the games Favrielle liked. He was hoping to play one of the games he was good at so he could win her a prize.

"Hello sweetheart, how have you been?" She smiled at him widely and Opened her arms to give him a hug, "Would you like a cookie? I was thinking of getting one for myself?"

Laurel beamed and squeezed Arcadia, being more than happy to see her again. Where had she been since the Halloween party? He wanted to chat with her about all the fun he'd been having at school and how much fun he was having right now!
"I've been great! How are you?" He giggled. "Oooh, they have cookies here, too? I would love a cookie!"
He took her by the arm, gently, and gave a tiny gasp, before reaching into his pockets.
"Remember the plushie you gave me last time?" He asked, grinning and handing her a small trinket. "I got double of these pretty necklaces from a game, I think this one would look pretty on you! You can have it!"

“In a morbid twist… I am half tempted to name the little guy Squishy. Only that wouldn’t fit in with my naming convention. Maybe I’ll make squishy a nickname” Meris pondered out loud watching as Polar rose up to nibble on Madla’s fingers before curling around Con again on his shoulder. Well he had a feeling Polar was going to be up there with Anti in terms of affection. “Geez, such a loyal keyboardist you are. I have only thrown you and the others to the wolves once… or seven times if you count using you to distract the manager while I eat things that aren’t on our ‘diet’”
Of course about then Madla decided they had been stationary enough and he was now firmly in the game section. Didn’t he mention his luck had been horrible tonight? Still as he listened to her he tried his own hand at the game. Seemingly hitting the balls in the center as well and was surprised when he was suddenly handed a plushie. “Eh It survived you, hopefully you’ll be out when it gets to academy stage. Oh Adora will steal the kid no question. She’ll just most likely give it back… hopefully… perhaps… I think” Meris took this
Ash continued looking around, squinting. The brightness of the lighting in the eating hall was making her eyes hurt somewhat, so she steered towards one of the walls and sat down, burying her face in her tail for a short while. She didn't really like coming out of her room much, outside of classes. Nighttime was alright, though, and she really loved festivals that were held outdoors at night. But indoors, there always had to be some sort of lights..
Sighing and rubbing her eyes, she stood back up, deciding to do her best to bear with the stinging. There were more games to play and treats to try out, so some pain was just a minor annoyance.
This time she tried out a game booth with darts. Popping balloons should be an easy task, right? Alas, while she managed to hit a few, it wasn't quite enough to get her a prize. Pouting, she grabbed some free candy to stuff her face with as she continued looking around.
A table covered in pretty bags of even prettier candy caught Zahneel's eye as she wandered about. Without really intending to, her step slowed and she paused in front of the table, staring in admiration at how pretty it all looked.
The nightmare manning the table gave a soft chuckle and waved her closer.
"Go ahead and take one," she said. "After all, it can't be a real party without fancy treats, right?"
Nodding in eager agreement, Zahneel gave the bags a quick study and then reached out and plucked up the one that looked the prettiest to her. Smiling at the nightmare behind the counter, the grimm murmured her thanks and began walking again. It really was pretty. Maybe anyone else would've started to eat the candy right away, but Zahneel wanted to keep it a little bit just to look at.

Taking a deep breath Sorren tried again, telling the woman at the booth that this would be her last try. She was slow and careful not to touch the sides with the ring, she didn't even want to breathe in fear that it would mess her up, and she did it! With a bright smile she looked up at the woman who was clapping for her. She told Sorren she could get a familiar since she tired for so long and never gave up. Sorren picked one of the fish and headed off to master another game. This event was so much fun!
"I didn't know that you could go to academy without being awoken here. Not very common, I think." Certainly the kids zey'd grown up with had awoken here... Zalir did not even notice Vaden's backtracking. Even if zey had, zey would not have been offended. There wasn't any reason to be offended--some kids awoke here, others didn't. End of story. There was nothing to be ashamed of, growing up in the care of the Asphodel Academy.
Vaden raised a good point. "I wonder if...the party was thrown by the headmaster? Or by their staff? I wonder...if the headmaster could even be here for their own party." Zey looked around, as if mentioning the headmaster could summon them here. When there seemed to be no one of that age looking at them, zey shrugged and turned back to Vaden. He seemed to share the same distaste for social gatherings that Zalir zemself did. Zalir smiled. It was nice to meet someone who shared zeir shyness. "Yes...nice to meet you. I would love to look at the games. They look...exciting." There were various plushies dangling from ropes above each stand, and shelves of prizes.
Zalir walked over to the emptier booth, occasionally looking behind to see if Vaden was still there. Satisfied, zey turned back to the game and surveyed it. It was a simple ball and bottle game--throw the ball, knock down the bottles, win a prize. Zey picked up the ball and inspected it. Nothing seemed particularly out of the ordinary. "Okay..." zey said quietly, and with that little bit of internal encouragement, zey threw the ball.

"I suppose not." he said to the other's comment about kids being from their race's territory. "Although the education is free and for some more...rural areas this would be a definitely more extensive education than some children would receive...Just have to pay for their portal ticket." he shrugged, most of that was him musing out loud and didn't really expect the other to have much of an opinion on it.
He couldn't help but smile just a bit as the Litch looked around, and then found himself scanning the crowd as well. "I suppose it's possible she could be here. Would be very rude not to make an appearance at a party held in one's honor, perhaps she was hear earlier and gave a speech to open the events, or she'll give a farewell address when it all ends." he shrugged. Either seemed possible to him and were the most logical choices when it came to etiquette concerning parties. Even if the events were more geared towards the younger individuals.
He followed Zalir over to the booth and waited his turn before following the Litch's lead and tossing the ball at the stacked bottles.
===============
Despite his throw being perfectly good, he somehow managed to completely miss the standing bottles. Vaden frowned deeply and was starting to wonder if these games were rigged against him and only him somehow. That was impossible of course but he was starting to feel that way.
"It would seem hitting bottles is not my forte." he said to Zalir.
"Kidden are cuuuute!" Jezebeth exclaimed, albeit quietly as they walked. While they were adorable, she wasn't sure she was quite ready to have a familiar that required so much attention. She was still young herself, so she'd settle for cute little Gypso and Bamboo for now, who were wiggling like crazy in her arms. Maaaaybe she would have to stop back at her room. Maybe. For now she kept going.
"Do you have any advice for me?" She was still referring to the familiars, but Cassie was welcome to take the question more in depth if she wanted to. Jezebeth was just excited to be talking to a fallow Fallen and of course her thirst for knowledge was never ending.
As they wandered around an excitably dressed Nightmare, likely some booth runner somewhere, came along an oo'd and aw'd her little Familiars in her arms and the other trinkets she had adorning her. She quickly place another necklace around her neck for 'good luck' and than danced off to give away more prizes. She was really starting to glow at this point...!
