wasn't there a gaia Olympics in 2004? it was before I joined can anyone help me with this?
There was but it was more of a sprite based foot race between the NPCs from the Isle to Durem. The race was hosted by Johnny Gambino. It was Gino, Sasha, Ian, Leon, Moira, and Edmund going for the gold. People thought Edmund would win but he got distracted by a woman in Durem and then decided to go have some fun times with Vanessa in Barton in the Personals building. Sasha got lost several times and Ian just couldn't pass up all the deals in the shops around Gaia. Moira ended up taking the gold. Somehow Sasha came in second. Poor Gino was still a little kid back then and his own father wanted him to cheat and take a viaduct to get past everyone else. Even though he did as he was told, Gino ended up in third.

That was back in the days when they used the map for everything. The first Gaia Olympics took place during my three year hiatus from the site so everything I know about them is from reading things on the Gaiapedia. If I recall things right I think people who were around then said there were little sprites that would move along the map. Definitely proved that year that Johnny was more than willing to do anything and everything to come out on top. Poor Gino.
