Seemed a little off...and he couldn’t help but feel it really was his fault. If he had tried to reach out to his brother…he already knew he was going through it. He wasn’t human any longer…it had to be rough but…
“I’m glad that you two are friends. She seems nice, Jan. And, I’m his brother. Jacob. So nice to meet you all over again, Marissa…”
He wanted to do something. Felt…like his skin was crawling all of the sudden. But. There was nothing he could do. Not here. Not in the open in front of everyone.
“Maybe after this event is done and over with, we could hang out sometime? I wouldn’t mind if you came along too, Marissa if you’re interested. But…I would like to spend some more time with my big brother…at some point. If you’re interested, Jan…and maybe you can come and meet my boyfriend? I’m sure he’d like you.”

Dice: 10, 1 crying , 7Her amusement shifted to a softer expression as she realized the two were brothers reconnecting rather than high school friends with buried tension. As someone who often dismissed public displays of affection, Marissa couldn’t help but notice the way Jan tentatively moved to return Jacob's embrace. It was a touching moment, but it made her heart ache a little, leaving her to wonder if her brother would have welcomed her just as warmly if he were still alive. Still, as Jacob seemed eager to catch up, she pulled her phone out of her back pocket to check the time, “We have about 37 minutes before our shift ends.” Code for ‘our glamour will be expiring soon’ and they’d need to leave and get a safe enough distance away from the establishment before their auras were revealed. “I should probably stay here and continue entertaining guests with the fish,” she gestured with one hand to the animatronic creatures that seemed highly interested in the three of them since they each held extra glow sticks to be handed out to guests. “But there’s enough time for you to say hello if his boyfriend is here now.” Marissa gently encouraged Jan before he had a chance to dismiss the invitation.

January Bloom (Half-Youma Captain Janggunite)

"She is the perfect mentor," January agreed, gently swirling his bright pink drink around the glass. Marissa was probably a full ten years younger than him, so 'mentor' might seem an odd choice of phrase. But he didn't know how he would've adapted without her. She was already comfortable with what they were by the time he'd met her, and January... He'd still been floundering. Drowning. Definitely far crueler and temperamental than she had been.
...But there was a certain something- He watched the fish in the tank. They weren't living; they had no reason to eat. But it was still easy to see where design had drawn inspiration. Some of them moved like predators, sleek, quick, sharp: Lavendulan was not so different in the water, and they all had their claws.
"But nice? Usually, I suppose. I doubt you'd see anything different, darling. But I know her teeth."
They were in close enough proximity that he'd seen her possessive and territorial and snappish. He had no idea what situations would've provoked the human Marissa to aggression, but if her situation was anything like his, it was just a natural progression that some of the 'nice' parts of them... turned a little rougher. Laven definitely had impatient moments, rising to combat whatever mood Jan had fallen into. Not all of them were pleasant. Jacob probably wouldn't have the opportunity to see her like that. Or him. January should probably be grateful for that.
He didn't know exactly what that meant for his relationships with normal people. Sometimes he was fine. ...Sometimes he wasn't. January wouldn't always know when he wasn't until it was already upon him, and it was hard to say if he should subject Jacob and his unknown boyfriend to that.
And the insinuation that he should- He shot Marissa an openly perturbed look. 'How dare you. Traitor.' Of all people, she ought to know better.
"I'll... think about it," January said evasively. "I'd like to. It's just... hard, sometimes." He hadn't ever really trusted himself and his emotions to begin with. Less so now. It would probably not be a fun hang out if his stupid instincts decided he didn't like this unknown boyfriend and figured it was time for him to be territorial of Jacob. "But I would like to. I would. At some point." Not here, preferably. It was already so chaotic... Something could go so wrong. It didn't seem wise to stray too far from Marissa. He couldn't trust himself. He couldn't.

….Condition, as January did…he could understand…and honestly, maybe that’s why they were friends…or…maybe more than friends? Were they flirting? He squinted slightly as though that would help him figure out, and then just shrugged. “Look, Samir takes care of a ton of dogs, I can’t see you being much of an issue, Jan. Seriously. Besides. I know you’d like him. He’s.” The smile that spread across his face was kind of stupid, but he couldn’t help it.
“He’s great. And talented. Makes me wish I had pursued something other than just…you know. Being an insurance agent…”

Samir wasn’t really built for the dance floor, or any fancy electronic dance club. It was neat! But he missed the dogs. Jacob had gone off, Samir had lost sight of him for a moment but it was fine; they had a job to do and he needed to swap out the old glow sticks he’d collected and grab some new ones, anyway.
They could probably collect more if they weren't both competing for glow sticks, anyway. Samir had chatted up a few people, but he'd gathered most of the glowsticks simply by picking up the ones that had been left around. It was a busy crowd, people were losing them when they moved, or setting them down somewhere and forgetting about them.
It wasn't glamour work but it was effective, and more than once it had given him the opportunity he needed to strike up a conversation and collect some more.
Of course, all that hard work meant that he could take a small break every now and then. So, he went to the lounge to get a second drink for the night--and picked up a few more forgotten glow sticks along the way.

Dice: 10, 1 crying , 7, 6Marissa’s friendly expression faltered when January made a small jab at her niceness. Her eyes narrowed at him but there was no anger there, just a small warning to be kind lest she stole what remained of the cotton candy from his martini. However, when Jacob mentioned his boyfriend’s name, she looked confused, head canted to the side slightly as she took a step away from the two to look around them; first towards the lobby and then in the direction of the dance floor. But standing at an astounding 5’-2” tall while in atmospheric lighting, it made it difficult to make out any discernible features on anyone's face. “I’m curious if your Samir is the same as my Samir. If so, maybe he could join us here.” Emphasis on ‘my’ since she wasn’t fond of sharing but she knew her friend was in a relationship and would concede if they were one in the same person. Samir was an uncommon enough name that she only knew one and he too had several dogs. So, to satiate her curiosity, with her phone still in hand she scrolled through her contact list, which was less than 12 people long, and sent her friend a quick text. Quote: Hey, this is kind of random but did you by chance pick up a shift at the Biolumina Club?

Samir's phone buzzed, and he assumed it was Jacob texting to meet up again. He'd just gotten his glass so took a long sip of the drink. It had a heavy, dense flavor that lingered on his tongue, and while it was familiar it was still something entirely new. It was better than the first drink he'd had. It wasn't too alcoholic but whatever, it was a Friday night. He was just going to go home after this, and he didn't have to be at work until that afternoon.
He was hardly irresponsible, and he'd already had time to sober up from the first drink.
To his surprise, it was Marissa instead.
As he leaned back into the seat, he sipped again he texted back, 'I did, I'm in the lounge right now. Did you sign up too?'

"...Dogs?" January parroted, shooting Jacob a look that was not at all dissimilar to the one he'd just given Marissa, perfectly highlighting the wealth of similarities that made them look like, well, brothers.
He wanted to hope the insinuation was that animals were very talented judges of character, and if Samir could be trusted by a pack of dogs, January should have no trouble doing the same. Because the alternative was the implication that Jacob's boyfriend had experience dealing with aggressive animals, and would know how to handle himself if it came to that- if it came to aggressive animal January causing an issue.
...But Jacob wouldn't think of him like that, surely (hopefully). So it had to be the former. Though he could definitely picture a future where his brother could start thinking of him like that, because if Marissa made a grab for his sugar, she'd lose a finger and be grateful that was all he took from her.
Another (strangely possessive) sip from his drink later, and he was looking back to Jacob. "Good. I'm glad. You should have someone who treats you well and inspires you." It was what he'd hoped for all of his younger brothers and sisters, if that was what pleased them- and if not, that was fine too. January couldn't be in most of their lives, anymore. So as long as they were happy, that had to be good enough. "If that's really something you want, there are still so many things you could do. It's never too late. Though there are circumstances that make things harder."
The Negaverse immediately made things harder. It was already another time commitment, even to just be a 'normal' agent. It was a lot to expect someone to have their regular job, and then the second, murderous one on top of that. A great energy expenditure that surely most people simply did not have the ability for. January was lucky to be passionate about his civilian job.
...Which he didn't imagine most insurance brokers felt.
But he wasn't sure if there was any help he could offer in that regard. The best January could do was offer a shrug and a smile that was only slightly skewed, since he'd grown used to a certain smile that accommodated his canines.

Ilian Jones (General King Jet)Location: Lounge. Behind the bar, serving drinks (bartender) Dice Roll: 1, 9, 1, 2 It was obvious that Lovely was very tipsy, and getting desperate and frustrated. But all Ilian could do was laugh. He knew Lovely was considered a lot for most people, but he’d never taken Lovely’s behavior too personally.
Okay, there was a time when they were a bit competitive in their Negaverse goals, but then he’d been kidnapped and tortured and Lovely had broken into his apartment in an attempt to find him, and eventually did. And, well… around a decade later, there they were.
“Here, I’ll make you something you’ll like,” he snorted with amusement, grabbing a bottle off the shelf and pouring Lovely a glass of whiskey. He didn’t mind if Lovely was leaning all the way over the bar. He’d rather him stay there than wander off while drunk. Sorry. Tipsy.

He knew Misha could handle himself, but he still worried! America was full of horrible things. Sure, not as bad as where they’d come from, but that wasn’t the point.
“Where is your friend? He left you by yourself? Shameful,” he grunted and shook his head, then glared at a few people who came too close to him. And then, noticing the grayed glow sticks, Lev reluctantly offered them new ones and took the old ones, much to their confusion. But they looked like they were too tired to really notice.

Yuuri Matsunaga (Eternal Kamacite)Location: Private room Dice Roll: 1, 9, 7, 6 Dorian. Okay, so Yuuri had a name to go with his face. That was good at least. Or, well, half of his identity. He still didn’t know his other name.
He felt bad about backing out of the drink, but… he would just have to make it up to him later, probably.
As for why he was there, Yuuri shuffled his feet a little. He knew that some people weren’t as committed to the Negaverse. He knew that others had lives beyond collecting energy and doing what was expected of them. He suspected Dorian wasn’t all that enamored with the Negaverse as a whole. Yuuri hadn’t been either, at first. Sometimes it was still difficult.
“Someone has to be here to collect…”
He didn’t say what, but it was obvious.
“I have a friend here, too. He’s more-- sociable than I am.”
The heart from Misha’s text gave him a little comfort.
“What about you? You don’t seem like you’re really into clubs.”

Not while there were so many people who weren’t a part of the Negaverse out and about.
He paused to hand out a glowstick to someone and then glanced back to Marissa. “You texting your Samir? I’ll do the same.”
He drew out his phone and sent a heart eyed emoji.
Quote: Hey! I’m in the aquarium hallway and some girl says that she knows a Samir? She wants to see if you’re the same one. Also one of my brothers is here, I’d love for you to swing by and meet him maybe?
He would have put more information. Saying it was January, the one who had gone missing in the papers but who he had found…but. That was too much to type in a text message, especially when Samir was just a room or so away.

Charlie Durand (Connie, Squire of Chronos)Location: Lounge “This whole place looks so amazing! I can’t believe it exists!” Charlie gushed, clearly in awe at how beautiful everything was. The engineering! The design! The novelty! She wished she could have come up with something like this! Maybe she should work harder to get her art to a high enough quality to start doing installations like this!
“You don’t think it’s too much?” she asked, suddenly worried about the sparkly skirt she was wearing. “I thought more people would be dressed up, but I guess not. Do you want to get a drink? I never get around to actually drinking.”
But the stamp on her hand proved she was old enough.
“Do you really want to come back during the day sometime? I was thinking about coming back with a sketchbook. I wanted to get some of the movement drawn out and then maybe incorporate it into my next piece,” she chirped enthusiastically, pleased to be there with Aiden, especially when there were no bugs around!

Samir, my Samir,” she amended. “And I are just friends.” Though she often saw him as something more platonic in that he had in a way unknowingly or perhaps unwillingly taken on the mantle of brother in place of the one she’d lost for there were moments she saw him as that instead of her General.

She was still trying to figure out who Everlee even was. or rather, had been avoiding figuring that out for a good year now. So she found herself rather lacking in things like personal style. She'd simply asked a Lieutenant to find her something club appropriate for the event and she'd eventually figured out all the straps involved. In one hand was a smart phone, and on the screen she tipped toward him was an overhead view of War and Aelius, their targets for the evening. "We have eyes firmly on them, Mister Baz.
