((Just a memo: Danni never went to Bai Ching, just her siblings. All this burial stuff is going on near Cook's shack.))

She smiled. "Because, generally, when a door is slammed in your face, the person who did said slamming isn't going to open up if you knock politely. So I used a spell. Anyway, I'm Athena. Who're you?" She held out one clawed hand. Her ears were perked, discreetly aiming in the direction of Ialo and Ophiuchus in the hopes that she would maybe figure out some of what was happening.

...She really didn't get what was going on.

Nathan looked down at the girl's hand - she had claws, not unlike the claws his wife and children had. That made him smile a bit. "Hello, Athena," he said. Nathan paused, wondering how to introduce himself. "I'm... nobody important," he began. "But, my name is Mr. Enlil."

She grinned. "Are you related to the Headmaster then? That's totally cool. What the hell happened?" Her tail wagged, hoping that maybe he'd tell her what was going on. He seemed nice enough at least.

Nathan grinned sheepishly. "I am, yes, except he didn't tell me he was headmaster until a few months after the school years started. Isn't that awful? You don't keep those sort of things from your old man."

"So, why are you asking me what happened?"

She shrugged. "Because I have no clue whatsoever and asking is the easiest way." Dude, this was the dad of her Headmaster. That was pretty hilarious. To Athena anyway.

It was then that she remembered the pasta in her other hand and began to eat it again. Waste not pasta.

Nathan laughed - this cheeky student, she was hilarious without even trying. "Well, I'm sorry, I can't tell you. That's classified."

"Awww," she whined, pounting. Her ears flattened a bit. "That's no fun! I have to do it the hard way now." She huffed slightly. Oh well. Plan B was called forth! Magic would be required soon.

Nathan frowned and shook his head. "No, you don't have to do it the hard way. When it's safe for you to know, I'm sure he'll tell you. Don't go using magic." Well, Athena had never said she was going to use magic, but Nathan had four children, all of whom were extremely adept with magic. He knew The Look when he saw it.

She blinked then gave him her 'perfectly innocent' look. Depending on his susceptibility, it might work. Worked for most people, anyway. Inside, though, she was grinning maniacally. He'd used the magic word: safe. (Well, and magic.) And the way he said it implied that currently it was not safe, which only made her more interested. Adventure time?

"Maybe. Probably not." She ran through possibly useful spells mentally, debating over whether a true spell would be cheating or if she should to the more advanced kind where she had to pretty much enter peoples' minds and stuff like that. It was a pretty tough choice.

...She did have some Dust in her pocket, though. Dust as in magical residue left over from certain spells of the demonic nature--usually the kind that required offerings or other elements to implement--not to be confused with fairy dust. After all, Dust did have magical properties, and if used correctly... In her mind, a little cartooned Athena was rubbing her hands together and laughing evilly.

Oh no. No no no. That look, Nathan saw through it right away. He was spot-on when it came to judging character. Mostly. Krauser was an exception.

"Athena," he said firmly. He was going into full-blown Dad Mode. "You cannot go snooping around right now. You saw what a mess Ialo was. I will not have the same thing happen to you - I don't care how powerful you think you are, because I know what you're going to think next. You're not invincible, you aren't unique, and you don't have the upper hand."

She pouted even more. Dang it, this guy was good. She decided maybe he needed to know. "Dang. You're good." But she was still curious and itching to know what was going on. Her pasta now finished, the hand she'd been using to occasionally shovel the noodles into her mouth slipped into her pocket, fingering the small Ziploc baggie of Dust.

Then she paused again. "Hey, d'you know if it's a full moon tonight?" She never seemed to remember that, which was weird because she should be able to remember that since she was, after all, a canine demon, but for some reason it didn't really hold much importance to her. Until now.

(Plus, if she tried to keep up with the cycles of the moon, she'd be trying to keep up with one cycle too many. Menstrual, pasta, school, and the normal calendar were hard enough, thankyouverymuch.)

Nathan blinked - he was thrown for a loop, but only very quickly. "Tomorrow," he said. "No, well, two days, I guess.... Different time zones and all." He looked at Athena and raised an eyebrow. "You know, there's ALWAYS a full moon. You just have to be in the right place."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 22, 2010 9:23 pm

She nodded vaguely. "Mm. But only a full moon in the area I'm in would affect me." Athena paused for a moment, murmuring to herself. It wasn't anything even roughly recognizable; just a couple grunting syllables.

"...you still not up to telling me?" Hopefully optimistic, buuuuuut... hey, it never hurt to ask. Yet.

Two days, though. That might present a problem for Plan B. It was so close...

"No, I'm not telling you." He sighed, not quite exasperated, but a little worn out. "It's not my place to tell you. And after this conversation, I'm glad tonight isn't a full moon. "
