“Clearly you’ve never met your fans,” Kaya shot back at the Blood mage, amusement tinting her tone. Many of them would do anything to get any piece of him. A select few Fairy Tail mages included. “Too bad on the friend thing. Everyone could use at least one real friend in their life. It’d come in real handy with dealing with some of those fans too. But—,” she gave a one-shouldered shrug. It wasn’t her place to tell the man how to live his life. If he didn’t want to have friends, then that was his business. Yet that didn’t stop her from caring about her “ally,” as the redhead so quaintly put it. Being a Water Dragon Slayer, hers was the element of change and emotion. Watatsumi made it a point to teach her that, to control her element properly, she needed to accept her utilize her emotions instead of shutting them away. To deal with them head-on. Which seemed the exact opposite of what Raine tended to do, judging by what little time she’d spent with the male. “Heh,” she chuckled when he recognized her Star Wars reference. “Thought you might.” After all, the gray Jedi held a certain appeal to them. Neither light nor dark but somewhere in between.
Kaya stared pensively down at the ground. Her thoughts roaming over their conversation about her dragon parents and lack of memory. She peered up at Raine when he spoke, his attempt at sympathy a little awkward but appreciated nonetheless. “Eh,” the girl sighed. “It’s not like I can fix it right? Honestly, I haven’t really thought about it that much. Ever since John found me and I joined Fairy Tail, there hasn’t been much of a need to. Not that I don’t keep looking for Watatsumi and Yue. I do. But it’s hard…” She wanted to make it clear to him that she cherished her dragon parents. There were nights she’d lie awake and stare up towards the heavens in the hopes that their vast forms might fill the sky. Chances were that their finding her would be the only way they could reunite. Her blank memories impeded her from doing much searching of her own. “And it's getting harder,” the rare admission floated from her lips in a soft whisper. Each year created more distance in her mind. Images of the family she discovered in Fairy Tail slowly replaced those of her past. Both comforting and distressing all at the same time. Turning away from that line of thinking, Kaya focused instead on his suggestion about her mother. Mulling it over, she couldn’t deny that he had a valid point. “It’s possible I guess. Yue was pretty protective. She could get mean real fast if pushed to it. I’m not so sure she’d get THAT mean though.” Her face contorted in deep contemplation. As plausible as it sounded, she was hesitant to believe that her dragon parent would go so far as to kill humans or other beings. The Yue she remembered held the patience of a Saint. It took a lot of pushing or something drastic to make the Lunar dragon enraged.
Tilting her head, she stared back at him, annoyed by his reaction. “I’m not pitying you. I just don’t understand why anyone would put another human through that, especially a kid.” She shook her head in disgust as he explained further. Scientists stole him away from his family. They locked him up in a small cell and tormented him. Not just him either. Lots of poor kids were subjected to the same thing. And for what? So they could answer their burning questions? Questions that don't need answers, in her opinion. As Raine continued to describe the day of his escape, a seeming change came over him. He spoke of horrific events yet relished in the memory of them. Her mouth quirked downward upon hearing the dulcet tones in which he delved into his past. Is that--, she wondered if this voice belonged to the “other” Raine that the Sabertooth mage kept referring to. It had to be. The way he talked about tearing someone apart was unlike anything she’d heard before. It thrilled him to the core. The Blood mage quaked in his chains. The raven-haired teenager noted his heavy breathing and tight knit brow, as if struggling to regain himself. “You don’t have a lot of faith in your guildmates…do you?” Kaya asked him bluntly once he had a chance to recover. “I doubt they’d just lie there and let those bastards walk all over ‘em. At least give ‘em the benefit of the doubt that they’ll be okay. For all you know, they could’ve already figured out you’re missing and be tracking you down.” That’s what she knew that Fairy Tail would be doing. The Sabertooth mage could call it naivety, optimism, obnoxious or whatever else he thought of, but she’d continue to believe in that hope.
Her lips drew into a thin line. Apparently, Raine didn’t want to listen to anything she was saying. Eyes narrowing, she glared at the redhead for a moment before huffing out a breath. “I could say the same about you,” she fired back. “Because you’re not dealing with anything. You’re shutting it out and building a wall. I don’t have to know you to know that much, and that definitely doesn’t sound like you’re fine to me. But, go ahead and keep doing what you’re doing. It’s working so well.” Her last sentence was laced with pure sarcasm. Kaya couldn’t keep it out of her voice. The man complained about his other self being stronger than him, how hard it was to keep control of him in times of stress or excitement. Yet, when she tried to help, he snapped at her. There was just so much pushing she could take before she started to push back. Taking a minute to calm down, the teenager sighed heavily. “Okay, look, if you don’t want to talk about it anymore then fine. I get it. You handle it your way. I just don’t think hating yourself gets ya anywhere but…whatever.” If that’s what he wanted to do, then so be it. Wouldn’t stop her from speaking her mind on it, however.

spacI became insane...

Raine smirked,"Oh I've met some of them, it's just that the ones I meet are normally a bit older than most of your guild and they're up for more of the kind of fun I like as opposed to selfies and autographs, if you catch my meaning,"he said, referring to his less than romantic encounters every so often in hotels with not a hint of shame. He shook his head. Fairies were all about friendship and family. Sure, Sabertooth was his family but...,"I did have one,"he said, feeling a vague pang of sadness,"One friend. But he's gone. Kimura made sure of that,"he continued. Thinking about how much better company Valor would have been for both of them. He would have stopped any bickering and lightened the dismal situation massively. Unfortunately, he wouldn't be by Raine's side ever again. He hummed in thought,"I don't recall anyone from your guild with that name. Perhaps one of your weaker members that doesn't get media coverage?"he questioned. He never kept up with the names of everyone in each guild. He was generally only aware of the strongest ones and the ones with the most unique magic: hence why he was aware of who all the dragon slayers were. He nodded silently as Kaya spoke, mostly to let her know that regardless of not looking at her, he was still listening but he was also wondering whether the slayer believed her own words. Did she really think a devoted parent wouldn't go to extremes? Had she not seen the film Taken? He didn't really know how to even begin comforting the girl. Her lack of remembrance was clearly distressing for her,"Have you ever thought about getting therapy? Hypnosis might work for you. It's supposed to help tap into memories that are locked away deeper than you can reach when you're conscious. I tried it once but in my half-conscious state I lashed out and put the therapist in the hospital. Apparently reliving my younger years wasn't the best of ideas,"he scoffed, wondering about the idiocy of Ymir's idea to do that in the first place. He shrugged,"I guess we'll never truly know why. I never thought to ask before I tore them apart,"he said with a slight smile in his words. The blood mage grit his teeth. This girl was twisting words. Besides, what the hell would she know about the girl Ciaran had threatened?"Have you even seen Octavia? She's five foot of zero physical strength. Take away her keys and she's done for. If she loses concentration she can't call on her spirits from a distance. She may as well have a big target painted on her back. As a celestial wizard she's powerful but as a human she's weak and unfathomably stupid,"His last word came up more spiteful than the rest as an image of his young guild mate jumping in front of him flew past his eyes. He took a deep breath to calm himself,"I didn't say I thought they'd roll over and take it. They'd just be better off if I was still with them,"he corrected her. The blood mage chuckled when Kaya said people would surely notice his absence,"I'm known to disappear for a few days at a time when I'm in a bad mood. There's a low chance they'll suspect anything is wrong if they can't find me and not many know where I live. Then again, if someone realises it's my house that's a blazing inferno at the moment, they might suspect foul play. I wouldn't set my own place on fire, my taste is way too expensive to be doing that,"he frowned. He'd have to replace everything when he got home. That'd be a hit to his bank account no matter how big it was. Raine wasn't sure if Kaya's sarcasm was meant to provoke him or not but if it wasn't designed to piss him off, she'd made a mighty big mistake,"What the hell would you know, fairy?! I'm seriously starting to wish they'd taped your damn mouth shut because I swear to god if I could get to you right now I'd ******** you up,"he snarled, lunging in his chains,"I deal with him. Is that not good enough for you? Do you think I should be dealing with something else as well? My attitude? My life choices? Personally, I'm happy putting my effort into keeping him at bay than anything else. What I definitely don't want to be dealing with is your ridiculous ideals of how I should be some sort of flouncy light guild member with perfect morals!"he shouted. The water dragon slayer's dismissal of the conversation did nothing but spur him on more,"Oh, no, Kaya, you've clearly got more to say. Go ahead, let rip. Tell me how you think I'm failing at keeping myself in check. How I should be better. Tell...,"he stopped abruptly with a sound as though someone had punched him in the gut,"Tell me, do you think Raine really didn't enjoy hurting that little girl? I mean, HE was the one that tried her blood, not me. She tasted amazing. It was almost like he was begging me to take over because he couldn't do it himself,"the honeyed voice of Blood Raine returned to the cell,"I could have dealt with her better than I did, I suppose. I could have charmed her. Had my way with her. Lulled her into a false sense of pleasure before breaking her neck. Kaya, was it? Tell me, Kaya, do you really think he's not trying hard enough to keep me at bay? I think he's doing a bit too well if you ask me. I'd love to come out and play more. Especially with her. She looked so pretty when she cried. He's been thinking about her an awful lot since it happened and I know some of that isn't guilt. I think he wants her just as much as I do,"he sounded almost as though he were teasing Raine, much like one friend would make fun of another for having a crush. Though in this case it was a little twisted. A roar of pain echoed through the room.Raine cussed. What kind of sedative was this? His control was faltering and he could bet it was due to the level of stress the situation and a certain fairy was contributing to. His breathing by now was a lot heavier and alongside the layer of sweat on his skin, tears fell down his face bringing with them a genuine sob. He was starting to slip into one of his more fragile states,"I don't. I don't want her. Not in any sense,"he uttered,"Please, Kaya, just stop. You have no idea how hard it is for me. How hard I try. Stop testing my nerves. If I can't focus, I can't keep control and I certainly won't be able to stomach whatever pain is coming my way if my mind keeps going up and down. You're not helping. You might think you are, but you're really not,"he said, shutting his eyes and breathing deeply to even himself out.

The teenager stared uncomprehendingly back at Raine. “You mean like going to a club or something?” It was an innocent question asked by a naïve girl who never dealt with the sort of “fun” the man referred to on a regular basis. If she had thought about it a bit more, she would have understood what he was talking about. For she wasn’t that oblivious to the ways of the world, but more that she simply needed a little more clarification at times. Her confused expression wilted upon learning of the Sabertooth mage’s deceased friend. So he did have a friend. A pang of guilt stabbed at her heart for having been so presumptuous before. He didn’t say anything about it back then though, she consoled herself, wondering why he hadn’t mentioned his friend when speaking of his guild master. Maybe he’d been in denial? Whatever his reason, Kaya hoped that he’d be okay. “I’m sorry about your friend.” Her tone held sympathy, whether he wanted it or not, whereas understanding filtered into her features. They’d both lost someone to the dark guild. That was a pain they shared in and would have to deal with at some point. “You want first crack at ‘em when we get out of here?” Kaya tried to break up the somber atmosphere as best she could. Although she might’ve sounded like she was jesting, the offer was an entirely serious one. She didn’t know when or how, but she knew they’d get out of that hellhole eventually. It seemed fair to let Raine call dibs on payback.
Kaya frowned, “Who? John?” She hadn’t thought to explain any further about the man who’d found her in Japan. “No, he’s really strong. Just doesn’t like to deal with the media a lot.” Her expression darkened a little as she added, “I haven’t heard from him in a long time. He’s been away from the guild for a few years. Supposed to be on one of those one hundred year deals.” It bothered her that she hadn’t gotten word from him since he left. Ever since that day, the two had grown close to one another, acting like siblings. Then the moment had come where he told her he was leaving to fulfill a request. His promise to come back soon was the only thing that appeased her back then. Time passed and here she was still waiting on his return, or even a call or letter. Where is he anyway? The familiar urge to walk through their last conversation and analyze it for any hint of his location welled up inside once again. With a huff, she tried to clear her mind of it, casting the memory as far in her consciousness as possible. Now wasn’t the time to focus on such things. “Nah,” she shook her head. “I haven’t tried therapy. To be honest, it doesn’t bother me as bad unless I really get to thinkin’ about it. Like when people ask me about stuff.” Her lips parted in a faint smile. She remembered the reason that John hadn’t taken her immediately to Fairy Tail once she’d gotten out of the hospital. “Nobody knew who I was or where I came from, and I only had bits and pieces. Made it a lot of fun trying to get from Nippon to the US. John almost got arrested!” Yes, it had been an interesting point in her childhood. Even to this day, picturing the comical distress on her friend’s face continued to provide her amusement. One of a handful of moments she could recall before joining Fairy Tail.
“I don’t think you should do hypnosis again,” the raven-haired girl snorted. Her tone was somewhere between amusement and sarcasm. “Unless these guys wanna give it a try on you. Then I say let ‘em rip.” Kaya wasn’t normally one for excessive violence; at least, not that sort of violence. These dark mages deserved to have justice served on them, however, and if they were dumb enough to try something like hypnosis…well…all the better. Rolling her eyes, she gave an exasperated sigh. Raine obviously held himself in higher regards than the others which, granted, was fair to an extent since he was the Ace of Sabertooth. That point aside, she noted the disdain that laced his words. There was something more there though. Something that felt akin to concern or worry, and that underscored his statements about the Celestial Spirit wizard. “Still sounds like you don’t have a lot of faith in them to me…” She let the sentence hang in the air. She didn’t want to spark an argument on the matter. “Heh,” the Dragon Slayer snickered alongside him. “I’d say that’d be a pretty big give away that something’s wrong for sure. And if it’s that expensive and fancy then I bet the police were called fast. Which means that your guild should know something happened.” Granted, she was merely guessing that’s how things would go down. Chances were the same that nobody would realize who lived in the fire-riddled house until a proper investigation could be done, which could take days. Unless something else pops up that makes his guildmates go lookin’ for him, that would be the other viable reason in her opinion.
Okay, that’s it! Kaya snarled at the redhead across from her. His tongue lashing of her served nothing but to annoy her further. “Come over here and try it!” She clenched her hands into fists. “I never said you had to have perfect morals, you dingbat! But have you ever thought that maybe dealing with the things you’re not dealing with might actually help you deal with HIM?!” The teenager lurched forward in her restraints, attempting to take a step closer to the male. Not to be combative but yet needing to add emphasis. Pain flared across her body to remind her of her injuries as well as the remnants of poison still working itself out of her system. Cursing the pain and Raine’s bad attitude, she opened her mouth to oblige his request when a sudden change overtook him. No longer did he possess the spite he demonstrated seconds before. His anger-laden ranting replaced with the dulcet speech of another. Blood Raine. Kaya listened to the male’s other half speak about Octavia in a rather unflattering way. Her expression clouded over, brows furrowing darkly. “Go back to the shithole you came from, jagoff. Raine and I were talkin’, and you’re not invited.” Was it a good idea to talk to a psychotic, murderous split personality like that? Probably not. She didn’t care either. All she attention was on the “good” half of the Blood mage and finishing their argument. Seconds later, the real Raine returned to himself, unleashing a loud curse of pain. Except, that wasn’t the full reality. His wrath hadn’t come back with him, substituted instead for tears. Hmmm, she studied the redhead, picking up on his deep-seated need to deny the other’s profession of infatuation. I think I get it now. There’d been a hint of truth in Blood Raine’s declaration. “Good” Raine just feared to admit it. Afraid that admittance of his feelings might give “bad” Raine leverage and spur him onward in those twisted fantasies. Shutting her mouth, Kaya looked away from him. How could she stay mad after seeing him in such a fragile state? A numbing silence settled over them. Save for the intermittent sound of the redhead’s haggard breathing, not a sound was made or a word uttered. Until, that is, “Wanna know a secret?” A pause and then, “My hair’s naturally like this too.” It was a veiled attempt at levity. Something to break the ice between them and that shouldn’t bring about a fight.
✸ OOC ✸ Let's see what he thinks of this. XD Oh, and before I forget again, "Nippon" is actually a lesser known name for Japan. It was used mainly before and during the Edo period, when she was born, but nobody refers to it like that now.

Rolling his eyes, Raine remembered that there was a large age gap between them,"No, not clubbing. I'm talking about sex. Fame and my lack of interest in having a girlfriend make for a perfect call list,"he smirked, vaguely proud of himself for not only getting the best out of some of his fans but also for managing to steer clear of romance so well. The blood mage noted the underlying tone of guild in the fairy's voice,"I didn't really want to bring it up. Strangely, I can stomach knowing Celeste is gone. Somehow I always knew she wouldn't die of old age but Valor... he escaped assassination in the early years of his life so to be brought to his knees and slaughtered by a dark guild master with some sort of chip on her shoulder is beyond my will to believe. I know why he wouldn't have been kept alive, his magic isn't something you could effectively transfer. How do you even begin implanting the ability to basically talk to plants? No use trying, right? He was S-class but surprisingly, he was easy to beat because he wasn't violent. I have no doubt he accepted his fate with a look of pride on his face. He knows that his demise won't be the end of us,"he said, speaking fondly of his best friend. They were polar opposites but they'd always worked well together. He glanced at Kaya,"Oh, I was going to take the first shot whether it was offered or not, sweetheart. Just don't get in my way,"he stated, making sure it was less of a threat and more of a friendly warning. Raine raised an eyebrow. It was unlike him not to know of a strong wizard. But he supposed if the guy stayed out of the limelight then only be Ymir would be aware of him."Hundred-year job, huh? I could have taken one of those but it's too much of a commitment to leave for that long. Plus, that would have left Valor to steal my fans away to his own bed,"he scoffed. The blood mage noted the saddened expression on Kaya's face. He was really no good at comforting people so he picked out the more gentle subject within the conversation."How comes he nearly got arrested? Did they think he was trafficking a young girl for money or something?"he asked, not putting any thought into how difficult travel might be for someone with no history or records, meaning a struggle to get a passport and other travel essentials. He'd had all of that sorted for him by Master Celeste after he snuck onto the boat from Russia to America. Raine chuckled,"No. I've been promised no more therapy. After having around seventy different diagnoses over the last 8 years, Ymir has given up,"he said with a tone of relief. He grumbled at the dragon slayer,"Don't roll your eyes at me, kid. And don't give me 'I have little faith' crap. I have faith in Andrea and Ymir, possibly a couple of others. What I don't have faith in is silly little girls who put themself in danger for no good reason,"he stated bluntly. Raine shut his eyes tightly and felt a moment of despair take over him,"Ugh, don't. For the first time in my life I regret sticking with designer. I loved my bed and now it's probably a pile of ashes. Lucky I don't collect priceless art or keep anything sentimental or some stupid crap like that,"he groaned. Maybe Ikea was the way to go next time.
It seemed that the dragon slayer was definitely up for a shouting match,"Don't you think I've tried that too?! Are you really that thick?! Oh wait, of course you are. You're a dragon slayer; shout and fight first, think later, right?! Sixteen years, Kaya! SIXTEEN! That's enough time to try every theory in the book ten times over!"he roared back. He was furious with her. How dare she accuse him of not doing enough. In a stark contrast of soft-spoken words, Blood Raine pouted like a child,"Aww, don't be so mean. I'm far better company than he is. What's so wrong with me? Do you not like the way I talk about that girl? About how I'd handle her? I'm sure she'd love it. I know I would. Take her innocence and her life all in one final act. Don't you think that would have been fun? Would it be more acceptable if I humanely used her name instead? Octavia. Pretty name. Pretty girl. Pretty eyes, especially when they're glazed over with fear. My god, that look is something I wanna see again,"he shuddered in pleasure with the memory. His obsession with the celestial wizard was nigh-on vile. However, Blood Raine was sure his tamer counterpart would never let him go as far as to force himself on the girl but he was a talented charmer and she was easy prey,"Someone as good as you should hate someone like him. He hates being called a liar but he's lying to himself. Octavia forgave us after we nearly killed her and she didn't show an ounce of pity. Even held his hand. She should get a medal for stupidity. He loved it just as much as me and he would have at very least relished in claiming her,"he laughed maniacally. The real Raine shook in his chains,"Please, don't listen to him. I wouldn't... I wouldn't do that to her. I wouldn't touch her like that, I swear.,"he said, panic lacing his statements. Why would Blood Raine say that stuff? Was he trying to make the fairy become so disgusted that she told everyone what horrific ideas lay within the mind of his other personality? He was in solid fear that whatever came out of his mouth would be taken as truth. How far would the other Raine take it? He'd already passed the boundary of appropriateness with talk of 'claiming' Octavia. The only truth behind all the s**t spewing from that bastards mouth was that he had been thinking about her, a lot. But it was her unbelievable ability to forgive and her uncanny kindness towards him that was playing on him and nothing more. She was completely unique in it and it was stuck with him. And yet, he'd been so horrid to her after their battle on Third Street. He was truly an arsehole. Tears continued to fall down his face in the relative quiet of the cells. Kaya hadn't spoken in a while, probably holding back all manner of things to call him. Her voice cut through his thought process, breaking the silence around them. He huffed a half-hearted laugh,"Yeah? Better start getting some royalties for the Sea Slayer hair dye they have in that case,"he mumbled,"I... I'm sorry... for what I said. I'm not normally like this. I don't shout or start unnecessary fights,"he said weakly, referring to his insults about the water dragon slayer being thick,"You stressed me out but I guess that's not really an excuse. As an ace I should know better." He was quiet for a moment before speaking again,"I hope you're at least semi-prepared for this. We've got a lot of pain coming our way. I don't know what they plan on using on us but it's not going to be pleasant. Draining magic isn't likely to be the only thing. That guy, Ci, he's a psycho. I know that's rich coming from me but let's just say I can sense my own kind,"he warned,"Torture won't be off the cards,"he said, frowning. No doubt this would hurt.

“Oh,” she grimaced, neither amused nor judgmental. If she were truthful, there were likely a couple of her guildmates who would be up for that sort of fun. Plenty of them had enough of a crush on the man. Best not to tell him that though. Kaya may be unfazed by his stance on sex, but she wasn’t about to let her friends become call girls for him. “No.” Her thoughts turned to the death of the Sabertooth S-rank. “It’s not easy to admit something like that. To be honest, I’m still having a hard time believing that Master Clement and Renae are gone. They weren’t my best friends, but it still hurts…a lot.” The Dragon Slayer tried not to imagine if their roles were reversed, if Yuki had been captured and killed because his magic couldn’t be transferred. The mere thought that someone would be killed for being deemed “useless” like that enraged her. Nobody should get to play God. These dark mages especially had no right. Gritting her teeth, she growled, “Those bastards.” Glancing back at him, a sneer crossed her lips. “Heh, don’t worry. I’m not planning on gettin’ in your way. But try not to take all the fun. I’ve got a little payback to give ‘em too.” There was no way the dark guild would get away with what they’d done. Not now or ever. The light mages would see that justice was done…however that came about.
Noticing the quizzical expression from Raine, Kaya sighed and shook her head. “Not many people know about John outside of Fairy Tail. He liked it that way.” She pursed her lip in a pout. Without realizing it, the Sabertooth mage said almost the exact same thing her friend had before leaving. “That’s what John said when I asked him if I could go. Said that it might be too dangerous and that he couldn’t take me away from the guild for that long. He didn’t know if he’d be gone a long time or what.” The teenager wanted to go with him so badly. It’d taken quite the effort to convince her that she needed to stay at the guild. His promise of a serious sparring match to measure her growth upon his return had been the one thing to work. Kaya shook herself from her mild funk. Chuckling, she recalled the frantic day with perfect clarity. “Yeah, I didn’t know what they were talking about at the time. They kept asking questions. Made a lot of calls to see where he’d been and what he was doing in Nippon. Both embassies got an earful from each other from what I heard. It took Master Clement stepping in to get things cleared up, and by then we’d wasted a whole day!” To say that her friend wasn’t prepared for the backlash would be an understatement. His eyes grew as big as saucers while he glared back at them in utter disbelief. While not amusing at the time, it became a constant source of laughter between them. A sort of inside joke.
Kaya gave a quick nod, “Good. Probably better for the psychiatrist.” She licked her lip absently before releasing a dry laugh. “Although, you totally missed out on your chance at a world record. ‘Most Wrong Diagnoses Diagnosed’.” That made her wonder if there was any such record in existence, and who might hold it. If they were below seventy, then Raine still had a chance at the record if he wanted it. Rolling her eyes again to spite him, the teenager grumbled back, “Okay, that was very specific. My point still stands though.” He could try to convince her otherwise, but his tone spoke volumes to her. The subject soon turned to his home. What was now likely a large pile of ash and ruin. The Dragon Slayer couldn’t quite comprehend how much of a financial loss he might be facing after losing designer pieces. She could never afford those sorts of things. Granted, she wouldn’t buy them even if she could. Growing up on an island really nailed home a style of simplicity. “What sort of bed did you have? Was it one of those that could adjust settings and all that stuff?” Kaya’s curiosity piqued a bit. The technology of beds never ceased to amaze her. They’d advanced so much in a small span of time. Personally speaking, however, she preferred to stick with a water bed. It soothed her to feel the rocking motion, reminding her of her time on the island with her dragon parents.
Her blood boiled under her skin. “Look who’s talkin’!” She growled back at him. “You’re thicker than I am if you can’t see the obvious! Forget books and theories and all that s**t! Try lookin’ at it from someone else’s point of view for once instead of calling them names!” Her breath came out haggard and loud as she fought to control her own emotions. Was accepting help really that hard? She didn’t think it was. For what felt like the fiftieth time that day, Kaya rolled her eyes, this time being sure to exaggerate the gesture so the other Raine could see. “You don’t get it, do ya? I’m not gonna believe what you say. I may be ‘thick’ but I know who you are and what type of fun you’re talking about. Quit spouting off that s**t like you’ll convince me of listening to you. Just because I’m a light mage doesn’t mean I should hate HIM for what YOU’VE done.” Almost in the next breath, the real Raine came back to the fore of his psyche. She heard the distress in his voice, the unyielding need to be believed over the other underlying his speech. “Dude, calm down,” she spoke softly, “I’m not buyin’ what he’s tryin’ to sell.” Well, she wasn’t buying most of it anyway. She had a gut feeling that there was one small piece of truth from Blood Raine, though she wouldn’t call him on it. Not right now anyway. Now was a time for silence. A moment for them to each collect themselves.
Kaya broke the quiet first, hoping to break the awkward tension. The redhead seemed to at least be in a slightly better frame of mind. “I’ve seen that stuff. They don’t even come close to the right color. It’s like a weird off black. Wouldn’t claim that crap for anything.” Her smile faltered for a brief second when he apologized. Recovering, she chuckled dryly, “I guess I wasn’t helping things either. Sorry for losing my temper. Water under the bridge now though, right?” She asked hopefully. They didn’t need to be fighting amongst themselves. There were other issues they needed to focus on and prepare for. Things like being tortured… Apparently, Raine was thinking along the same lines. He warned her to be prepared for lots of pain. “Hmph,” she scoffed, “Don’t worry about me. I’ve got a high tolerance for pain. They won’t get anything from me easily.” Confidence underscored her words. While she couldn’t say she had been tortured before, she wasn’t going to let them have their way without some serious resistance.
As Dr. Shaw made her way down to the underground cells, she could hear voices echoing up the tall stairwell. They sounded terribly unhappy. "Well, it seems your two captives are making friends. Or enemies. There's a fair amount of raised-voice communication going on. If they were just speaking normally we wouldn't be able to hear it all the way up here and I doubt either of them are the type to call for help so it must be some kind of shouting match," she said with an amused smile, "That should make our job a while lot easier." Finally reaching the bottom, Shaw sighed. She was physically quite fit but the cells were a long way down with an awful lot of steps, "I do wish they'd fix the lift," she grumbled, walking into the corridor. Peering into Raine's cell, the doctor smirked, "Well, don't you just look a treat. Those chains are working better than I thought they would, though he does have a lot of drugs in his system. Is he still coherent? Hello? Wakey wakey, Blood Raine. Treatment time," she said, tapping her foot on the metal bars of the door to rouse him. Turning, she looked into Kaya's cell, "And you must be Kaya the mysterious water dragon slayer. How lovely. I hope you don't mind but we're going to be taking some samples. Not a lot; a few vials of blood, maybe a hair clipping and while we're at it, why not a skin scrape as well. All handy to have on file since we know so little about you. You're more of an issue than your cell mate to track a past from but don't worry, we have ways of making you tell us your story," she said nonchalantly, not showing any of her excitement to see both Ciaran and his master at work. They were truly a pair to be reckoned with she was sure but she'd never seen them interrogate before, "I think we should get samples from Raine first. He's doped up and useless so we may as well have a stab at him, literally. Would you mind accompanying me and restraining him just in case he tries anything. I'm only human with no magic defence so I'll need you to be my guard," she asked sweetly, unlocking the door to the blood mage's cell and stepping aside for Ciaran to enter first. She placed her bag on the floor and retrieved a blood test kit with a particular thick needle, "It's likely you'll need to hold Kaya down too. As expected, her sedative isn't as effective anymore. Pesky slayers can work that stuff out of their system too fast but we can't keep them on a continuous dose because it'll overload their system. Fortunately, Mr. Valentine's blood can process it just enough not to overdose. So fascinating," she said in value awe of his talent. They were test subjects, nothing more, but it didn't stop them from being a marvel of human capabilities. "I think we should wait for Kimura before we start on the slayer. If you're questioning her, it's best to cause as much pain as possible, right? That means the blood tests and other stuff can be done during that time as well. Added pressure," she suggested, "Is she on her way?" she asked, stepping towards Raine with her needles.
OOC: you can go ahead and write about her taking blood, Kaya, but I didn't want to assume Ciaran's actions for him so I left it open for you to pick your own moment for the blood draw.
My, my, my, Ciaran smirked at the raised voices drifting up from the cells. Aren’t they having a bit of a tiff. He could not make out the distinct wording, but their tones alone were enough to indicate their state of minds. “I believe you’re correct, Doctor. They do sound quite put out with one another.” He peered over at his fellow researcher. A wolfish gleam filtering across his features. “Our two guests are making quite the ruckus. I wonder what it could be about?” Regardless of the reasons, he thoroughly enjoyed hearing the discord between the light mages. “Things are certainly about to get more interesting,” he agreed, inclining his head. The dark mage practically skipped down the remainder of the stairs. Sidestepping the good doctor, he continued further into the darkened tunnel. “And miss the thrill of dragging prisoners up and down them?! Where is the he fun in that?” His tone was light and teasing. An energy abounded in him. The upcoming torture session enlivened him in a way few other things could manage.
His lips parted in a broad grin as he came within sight of the two prisoners. “Ah, here we are,” he spread his arms wide to encompass the occupied cells. Ciaran stepped to one side to allow Dr. Shaw greater maneuverability within the hallway. Yellow orbs gleamed, flitting from Raine to Kaya and back once more. Pure and utter bliss settled upon him as his female counterpart regaled the captives with what would be happening to them soon enough. “Careful, Doctor,” the white-haired male warned after she kicked at the Blood mage’s bars. “He managed to interact with some blood earlier. I wouldn’t doubt his intentions on trying again. As such, I think it would certainly be prudent of me to accompany you inside.” With a bow of his head, he waited for her to open the door, promptly stepping in and taking the lead. “This might hurt a little,” he quipped to Blood Raine, chuckling as he made a series of hand movements. A set of runes formed where he had placed his hand. From but a single touch, the odd figures darted forward where they covered every inch of the Sabertooth mage. Ciaran made certain to put enough magic energy in the spell to prevent him from moving a single muscle. A bit taxing, but worth it nonetheless.
Turning back to Shaw, he announced, “You’re free to do as you please. He won’t be able to give you any trouble while you draw your samples.” Once she started her work, his attention shifted to the Water Dragon Slayer across from them. Her defiant nature was clear to all. It shall certainly be fun to break her of it, he leered. “Don’t worry, Dragon Slayer. You shan’t be left out of the entertainment. After all, as the good doctor here said, there’re so many things we wish to know about you.” Ciaran pivoted away from her at that time, ignoring any outbursts from the girl. “Certainly a wise course of action,” he addressed the scientist, maintaining his focus on the spell while she drew the samples, “Master Kimura likely holds some questions of her own and wouldn’t be pleased to have missed out on any of the questioning. We’ll be able to begin with the Slayer shortly. I have no doubt that she is on her way.” Indeed, he knew his Flame Princess exceedingly well. The moment she received his text, he held no doubts that she exited the guild hall and would stride into view at any second.
✸ OOC ✸ Hope this is okay. Wasn't sure about the spell thing since it's not a battle scenario, but rolled with it. Let me know if anything needs to be fixed. smile

☂An eerie darkness would surround the atmosphere of the underground laboratory, one that practically screamed traumatizing danger for those who were the prisoners of the area. For all else, it meant nothing other than they better be working and not slacking, only quite a few members could be said true about this. But for Shaw and Ciaran, they were more prized workers so this would not be anything fitting for them, they were much more into there work to allow any kind of slacking, and for that she liked about them. Entering the doorway, Kimura entered the long corridor hallway, before stopping a few feet from the two whom were hard at work getting down to business with Raine. She'd watch the two silently, Ciaran was taking care of Shaw to make sure Raine couldn't hurt her, using his magic to pin him still. While they continued to be at work, she'd step closer to make herself known had they not seen her enter. "I see you're both hard at work. I appreciate that. Great job, as well Shaw." She'd say with a dark smirk, watching as they were retrieving some samples from Blood Raine. Her attention would turn to Kaya while they dealt with him, deep red eyes as if piercing through her very soul. "You're hiding something..there's something about you. If you won't tell me, than I'll have to find out the old fashion way, and let's just say you won't like it. It could be easier, if you would just tell me. What an annoying runt you are." Kimura would flash heated eyes, she was clearly aggravated with the girl, and if she wasn't willing to talk than she'd get the hammer of hell upon her. The dark guild leader would never rest without the information she'd required, and this rain of terror would never end until she got that piece. Kaya was apparently the only dragon slayer being brought back, figuring the others failed in there missions, which was to be expected from lazy delinquents. But Kaya had something weird and personal about her, she was glad to at least have obtained her, she wouldn't rest until this information was found, every last detail about the girl and her past. With Raine's blood samples, and Kaya's water slaying techniques plus extra information, this new world soon would be entered. They may not have retrieved all, but it was just enough to create a new living condition, a world where the weak perished and the strong rose to higher lengths. [OOC: Hope was an okay entrance post! My brain not working well. xD ]
Raine laughed at the look on Kaya's face,"Don't worry. Your friends are safe. I'm under a strict rule of no flings with guild girls,"he sighed. The blood mage nodded solemnly. He felt he shouldn't have an input on the subject of people he didn't really know. He'd met Clement a fair few times and seemed decent enough but Renae was a different story. He'd met her once and they were kindred spirits in having a rotten attitude. She was a spoiled brat but that now seemed tame compared to the fire-breathing midget they currently had to deal with."I'll leave you some scraps,"he said in response to her demand for an opportunity to give these dark wizards some payback. Raine sighed and shook his head. Just like most fairies, this girl would happily run into a job that was out of her league. At least her friend had some sense in him,"Those 100-year jobs are a big deal. I'm not surprised he didn't take you. You might be a dragon slayer but what rank are you? A-class? If it turned into something really messed up you'd be done for or he'd die saving you from whatever the hell awaits someone that accepts one of those jobs. He made the right decision making sure you stayed behind,"he said, knowing that nothing in his sentence was remotely comforting but sometimes the flat truth was better. It was typical that even a future fairy would cause problems with the government. It almost could have been destiny,"You're lucky you're so upbeat. Clement was a sucker for a shining personality so it's no wonder he felt compelled to help you,"he stared at the floor, remembering his own story. It wasn't quite as fun,"My official documents were part of a deal. I was actually forced to come into Sabertooth. They'd been tracking me for months, simply following the trail of bodies I'd left in my wake. I was twelve at that point; five years of killing anyone in the back streets that looked at me sideways and she'd had enough. Criminals or not, she didn't want corpses showing up every other day, if that's what you could call them afterwards. So my offer was that if I cooperate with her then she'd set me on the path for a better life. So I got my SS number, ID and passport, given proper training and taken on jobs until I was trusted enough to go them alone. Eventually I was given my current rank after only a couple of years and we both know why I moved up so fast,"he glanced at the slayer, referring to their earlier conversation of the dangers of his magic placing concern in his former guild master,"I think things would have turned out very differently were Clement the one who hunted me down. He would seek justice and I'd be locked up until he felt I learned my lesson. Technically I never did. I still kill. It's just more controlled now."He frowned. It wasn't nice insinuating that his guild master was too soft on him. In fact, it was quite the opposite. She was incredibly strict to begin with and he'd despised her. He'd done his own thing for so long that having someone tell him what to do, how to do it and when to do itwas infuriating. But he'd come round eventually. But Clement had always kept an air of mistrust towards him. Kaya's suggestion of going for gold on number of collected mental health issues earned her nothing more than an unamused stare. Raine shook his head at the slayers question. What did She expect? A mobility bed that sat up for you that old people used?"No, it was just a really good mattress. Felt like sleeping on a cloud. Literally the only person who's ever slept in it is me. No one else had so much as perched on the edge. It was perfect. Ugh, such a waste,"he moaned in despair. Every woman he'd ever been with, he'd taken to a hotel and not once had he ever fallen asleep beside them. He didn't do sleepovers - too much potential for clinging the next morning. He always made an exit while they were still recovering so he wouldn't be followed and happily fell asleep in the comfort of his own home. Undisturbed. His bed was his sanctuary.
Raine's body was shaking with anger. Someone else's point of view? Not likely! Everyone else could shove off. Especially this slayer. Never had he met someone who was so stubbornly determined to help someone to the point she created a whole new issue of them wanting to murder her. The blood mage was thankful that Kaya had paid no attention to the words Blood Raine has sung to her of Octavia,"And you won't repeat it?"he asked worriedly,"Swear to me. Swear you won't tell people what he said, whether you believe it or not,"he pleaded.
Raine shrugged,"Yeah, sure. Water under the bridge. Doesn't make us friend though, got that?"he huffed."A high tolerance for pain is good but even I know not to underestimate this situation. They've got specially designed bonds for us so you can bet they know how to bypass all of our defences,"he warned again,"I... I'll try to be here for you but I really don't do comfort and support so don't expect much even at my most concerned,"he said. Again, this would have been Valor's territory. Feeling incredible nauseous from the continuous personality struggle and drugs, Raine shut his eyes for a moment, unsure of it he'd fallen half-asleep or passed out but found the rest slightly relieving either way.
A familiar voice ringing through the corridor followed by a loud clanging against his cell bars roused the blood mage from his semi-slumber. His eyes fluttered open but his head felt too heavy to lift. He heard the door swing open, squealing on its hinges, and footsteps moved towards him. He turned his head to look up, finding himself staring at Ciaran,"The hell do you want, a*****e?"he grumbled. He wished he could move, lash out and take a chunk out of this b*****d but his body refused. On his burned, sensitive skin, he felt the soft tap of the dark wizard's index finger. What followed was a sudden intense pain that took over his entire body, pushing against the raw wounds on his back and arms. He couldn't stop himself from releasing a strained cry of pain. He wanted to struggle, remove whatever was holding him but he'd seized up. A binding spell. He grit his teeth, his breath coming out in heavy growling exhales. A second set of footsteps joined Ciaran's and as the person knelt beside his, he could just make out with his blurring vision a woman in a lab coat. He could feel a sharp pinch in his elbow crease but compared to the agony the rest of his body was in, it was nothing. She took several vials of blood before wordlessly moving out of the cell and locking the door behind her. Raine wondered how long this spell would last. He kept telling himself he'd felt worse. He had, but never for this length of time. Thirty seconds, maybe a minute. But the minutes were ticking right now and the pain worsened his nausea causing him to throw up more blood. That was all he had in his system that he could expel. Blood and alcohol. He could swear he passed out a couple of times. This was only the beginning. Another voice joined the two already present. It was her,"Great. It's back," he uttered.
OOC: i tried to finish off as much of the pre-experiment conversations as possible but it might take a couple to move them off completely.

She blinked sheepishly, Busted. But it comforted her to know that the man had some level of restraint when it came to girls, whether voluntary or not. “Hmph,” she snorted out a laugh. “Thanks.” If she had her way, then she’d be getting more than a few scraps to deal with. Kaya became less enthusiastic about their conversation of the man who’d brought her into Fairy Tail. The more the Sabertooth mage spoke, the more he reminded her of John, utilizing the same excuses and reasons her friend had at the time. “I would’ve backed off if it’d gotten bad,” she muttered under her breath. “I may be a Dragon Slayer but I know when to listen.” To be honest, it wasn’t even that she was upset about being left behind. She was newer to Fairy Tail and hadn’t been properly ranked yet. His decision made sense in that regard. No, what bothered her was the assumption that she couldn’t take care of herself or wouldn’t listen to John if things got out of hand. Hearing his remark about Master Clement and his soft spot brought a smile back to her face. “Heh, would you believe it took a bit of convincing from John at first? I mean, Master Clement liked me and all, but he was worried about the circumstances. He had a lot of the same questions as the police and embassies. I’m not sure what made him change his mind but he did.” Kaya assumed that maybe the Terrain mage said something that struck a chord. She remembered asking about it before boarding a flight with a young Yuki and John. He simply shrugged and shook his head, stating the guild master knew a good thing when he saw it. She listened curiously as Raine detailed his own journey into Sabertooth’s ranks. The teenager wasn’t surprised in the least to find that Master Celeste provided him an ultimatum. While she’d only met the woman once, she felt the no-nonsense vibe emanating from her. Not a bad deal in the end. “Yeah,” she nodded, “Probably best she got ya.” Clement certainly wasn’t one to let killers go without punishment, light mage or not.
Her amusement diminished at the redhead’s unamused frown. Whoops. Guess that’s a touchy subject. Taking the opportunity to recover from her bad joke, Kaya tried to imagine what sleeping on a cloud might be like. “Sounds nice.” She avoided commenting on it being a waste of good furniture, figuring it would merely rub salt into the wounds. Things sort of devolved from there. The two entered into a shouting match which ended with neither of them winning. Instead, they stewed in their anger for a time. All the wind was torn from her stormy sails in an instant. His shaking, worried voice as he pleaded for her secrecy dampened her ire. “Okay, okay,” Kaya wiggled a hand in a bid to calm him down. “I swear I’m not gonna tell anyone. Your secret’s safe with me.” She gave him a thumbs-up as a visible seal of her promise. Meeting his shrug with her own, she said, “Yeah, sure, okay.” The teenager had no idea why he was so hung up on not making friends. They’d gotten into that argument already, though, and she refused to start another one over it. Although she knew she could handle a lot, Kaya decided to take his warning to heart in the end. He may not be the best at comforting or empathizing, but he was at least willing to try to some extent if and when it came down to it. “Noted,” she smirked, “And, even though we’re not friends, I’m gonna be there for you too. I’m a Fairy. We care. It’s what we do, but I’ll try not to push like before.” It was her best way of extending an olive branch. She couldn’t stop worrying about others being hurt no more than Raine could stop his darker half from killing. It’s just who she was, especially in the face of something like torture.
The combination of drugs and emotional outbursts seemed to take their toll on her fellow prisoner. Raine slipped into a fitful doze, leaving her to wonder about their upcoming torment. As it turned out, she didn’t have much time to consider such things. Barely a few minutes passed before she heard and smelled the telltale hints of people approaching. One she recognized, the other was new. Sure enough, the white-haired male from before stepped into view, this time accompanied by a petite woman wearing a white lab coat. Both carried ominous black bags. Her keen hearing picked up the sounds of glass and metal clinking together, muffled by the material of the satchels. I don’t like the looks or sounds of those. Loud rattling issued from Raine’s cell where the woman kicked at it. Kaya flinched. After such a deafening silence, the sudden racket made her ears ring. “Actually,” the Dragon Slayer glared back, “I do mind. Touch me and see what happens.” Honestly, why were they so intent on learning about her past? It didn’t make sense. What did her past have to do with what they were trying to do now? The Blood mage’s cry of pain drew her gaze to him. Crimson runes- the very same runes that had bound her in her previous fight- swarmed over his skin, causing him agony. A low growl issued from her throat as she watched the woman step forward and draw several vials of his blood. Their obvious pleasure sickened her. Then another presence entered. Oh, great. Kaya turned her head to find Kimura staring at the scene, a satisfied expression on her features. It was a look which darkened the second her focus shifted to the Dragon Slayer. “Hiding something?” She frowned, confused about what she meant. “Look, I don’t know what you’re talking about but, even if I was, I wouldn’t tell you.” Scoffing, she added, “And you got it backwards. You’re the annoying Chibi-Chibi.” The raven-haired teenager used the same taunt as in their previous encounter. Not knowing why it had enraged the guild master but pushing verbal advantage nonetheless.
Dr. Shaw clapped her hands together happily, "You are a master of your craft! she beamed, watching the red runes of Ciaran's spell move across Raine's body and clearly causing a horrendous amount of pain,"He can't move a muscle! That's amazing!" She stepped into the cell behind her male companion and knelt beside the chained prisoner. His breathing was erratic and she could see clearly what exactly had caused such a frightful reaction, "Not to ruin any of your fun but I do think Mr Valentine does need some medical attention. Torture is one thing but these burns are quite serious. I want him as a live subject. I can't drain active magic from a corpse," she huffed, unimpressed that no one had been sent down to check his wounds. He'd been in a fight with the guild master, surely that should have rung some bells for anyone with half a brain. She shook her head in disapproval and began drawing blood samples from his arm. She smiled, "To think you're the monster with the kill count that tops almost every guild member in Dragon's Bane. You don't seem as scary as people say but you're definitely just as handsome, even in your current condition. I almost feel sorry for you," she said with false sympathy, "And yet I hear you're not a completely heartless beast. You have a little crush, do you not? A little crush whose neck you almost broke to be exact. That's no way to ask a girl out," she chuckled, closing the last vial. Stepping into Kaya's cell, Shaw raised an eyebrow at the low growl that emitted from the slayer's throat before realising it was a response to the pain being dealt out to the blood mage, "Does that bother you? Why? I'm certain Fairy Tail looks down on killers so you should be happy. We've done what any smart person would do and locked him up like the animal he is. It's not like you're friends, you won't have been yelling at each other otherwise. Yep, that's right, we could hear you all the way up the stairs," she smiled. Her amused grin turned to laughter at Kaya's threat, "Oh my, what will happen?" she asked, watching more runes fly past her and wrap and the dragon slayer's body from head to toe, just as they had done on Raine, "Seems to me all that will happen is that you'll receive pain and have no choice but to take it," she shrugged. Hearing a familiar voice, Shaw turned to see the deceivingly sweet face of Master Kimura, "Good evening, Miss Tenma. I hope you don't mind, we started without you but don't worry, you didn't miss any of this young lady's pain," she reassured the fire dragon slayer whom she admired fiercely. In the corner of her eye, she could see blood pouring from Raine's mouth, "Seriously, get him checked as soon as possible. If he keeps doing that he'll end up dying after no more than a few draining sessions. We need him alive," she frowned at Ciaran, not wanting to aim any of her frustration at the guild master. After all, she was the one who made all of her dreams come true. She carefully placed Raine's blood samples in a box and gathered a new test kit. She wrapped a tourniquet around Kaya's arm. The slayer's blood pressure wouldn't be high enough with stress to be able to outright take samples without some coaxing. She pushed the needle in and slowly drew out twice as many vials as she had from Raine. Six in total, "You might feel a little dizzy for a while. I would give you some water to counter it but unfortunately we just can't risk that," she sighed, "However, a colleague of mine is developing a substance that will keep her alive without needing to give her pure water. Just enough moisture and nutrition to keep her alive for an elongated period of time, but the water molecules are bound with other components so she can't draw them out for magic use. He's done with the formula but he needs to make batches. It'll be done soon. I'm so glad I brought in a nutritionist. Thank you for allowing me to do so, Miss Tenma," the doctor beamed. Grasping scissors, Shaw ran her fingers through Kaya's hair, "The pictures our team took of you don't do this any justice. Your hair really is the colour of the deepest depths of the sea. It's quite lovely. Hope you don't mind if I take some," she said, snipping a small lock from the front and placing it in a small plastic back, "Thank you, dear," she smiled before moving aside, "I brought all the tools down that were necessary for her... persuasion... and a few extras as well. Knock yourselves out. I brought some equipment down to run basic blood tests while I'm here. I couldn't pass up the chance to watch you work," she smiled.
The Dark Écriture mage poked out his lower lip while placing his free hand over his heart. “Aww now,” he whimpered and pouted, feigning hurt, “Is that any way to greet us? After all we’ve done to make you comfortable here? Pity.” Ciaran heaved a beleaguered sigh. With a touch of his finger, his runes locked onto the male’s body and held firmly. The cries of pain filled the cell, echoing in his ears like a dark symphony. He closed his eyes to savor the experience. A look of sheer ecstasy lit upon his features. Such glorious sound. And we are only just beginning! Delight stirred in the depths of his stomach. The mere notion of the agony to come entranced him and made him giddy. If not for Doctor Shaw’s comment, then he would have stayed in his trance for far longer. Too long perhaps. Pace yourself, Ciaran. Plenty more to come, he steadied himself before smiling at the scientist. “Thank you, Doctor. This is one of my own personal spells. It is one of the many which sets me apart from imposters such as the fairy Renae.” Ciaran watched the woman kneel beside the Sabertooth mage and make ready to draw her samples. “It is on my to-do list,” he said apathetically, shrugging his shoulders. Truth be told, he had not a care in the world to supply aid to the light mage. However, he supposed the good doctor did have a point. Raine and his magic were useful only if he were alive.
As the scientist continued her task, Ciaran found himself studying the way she interacted with her test subjects. Swift, blunt, and pragmatic, she cared for them in so far as her needs for research went. She held no care for their well-being aside from that. It was a trait that he admired in the woman, and one that reminded him of someone else he had known long ago. Shaw was quick with her tasks as well. Very little time passed when he heard the snikt of the final vial being capped off. Now for the girl. Yellow orbs glanced over to the other cell. His comrade had moved from one to the other in quick, assured strides. Ciaran performed the same set of hand movements as before. He aimed the runes in the Dragon Slayer’s direction and then, with a tap of his index finger, unleashed them on her. They shot across the narrow span and wound their way across her flesh. Just as he had with Raine, the dark mage made certain to impart enough magic to keep her completely immobile while Shaw worked. Her involuntary shout of pain indicated that his technique worked beautifully.
Master Kimura chose that moment to arrive. Hearing her dulcet tones, Ciaran felt a spike of adrenaline and adoration go through him. “Hello, Acushla,” he cooed. “I’m pleased to see you got my text. We’ve been holding off on questioning the fairy until your arrival. Now that you’re here—” His eyes danced in the darkness. A feral glint settled in his gaze. “We can begin to unravel the mystery.” Sensing Shaw’s withering glare of admonition, he huffed out a breath yet nodded his acknowledgement. “I will see to it as soon as we are finished, Doctor.” Ciaran hoped his agreement to provide medical treatment would be enough to placate the woman. After all, both are going to need it once I and Kimura are done with our fun. In such a case, would it not be more logical to have the medical staff treat both subjects at once instead of summoning them below twice? He believed so. The doctor finished gathering her samples soon afterwards. Standing aside, she provided them plenty of room to implement their chosen methods of torture should the Slayer prove less than forthcoming. “Ah,” Ciaran sneered at Raine whose head hung down a bit too much for his liking. “Tsk, tsk,” he clucked his tongue, “That just won’t do.” Stretching out his right hand, he grasped Raine’s chin between his thumb and forefinger and tilted his head up until their eyes met. “Watch carefully, Blood Raine. We’re about to find out more about the little fairy. I wouldn’t want you to miss any of it. After all, if I find something you enjoy, I may just try it out on your little girlfriend later.” He patted the light mage’s cheek then turned to exit the cell. His spell would keep the man’s head pinioned as he desired. Just as he reached the door, he hesitated and glanced over his shoulder, “Oh, and if I find you looking away for even a second, then I will personally cut out your eyelids so that you aren’t able to do so ever again.”
Ciaran strode from the cell, letting the door slam behind, and made his way into Kaya’s. Setting his own satchel down, he stared at the girl before him. He could sense Master Kimura doing the same from where she stood nearby. An intensity radiated from her. Her desire to know of the Slayer spurred him onward. “Well, Kaya,” he flicked two fingers, dispelling the binding technique in an instant. “You’re certainly an enigma, aren’t you? No official records before the age of nine. No family to claim you…Yet, we have documents of our own that mention someone with the same name as your own. An ancestor of yours no doubt. Now,” Ciaran folded his arms across his chest, “That makes us very curious. It’s not everyday that a child appears seemingly out of nowhere, and whom also holds a connection to one of our past test subjects. We want to know more. A lot more.” He motioned to the bag at his feet. “As I’m sure you’ve guessed, we have our ways of obtaining this information. Ways you will not like in the least. Why not save yourself the trouble and answer our questions truthfully, hmm? We’ll start with easy ones and go from there. Acushla, would you like the honors?” The white-haired male inclined his head in deference to the guild master, moving aside to provide her center focus. He would listen to what the teenager had to said. If she refused to play nicely, then he would have no choice but to delve into the bag of tricks given to him by the good doctor.

☂Kimura would acknowledge doctor Shaw with a smirk, following through with greeting her back. "A good evening to you as well." She would say, eyes glancing from her fellow associate to Raine. "Do not worry dear, it is my fault for disappearing." She would simply turn to Raine, who was annoyed upon her presence. "It seems you missed me, had you?" She questioned with a tease, not caring enough to continue further. Her eyes would flicker over to Ciaran as he had greeted her once she had arrived. "Hello, my dear. Good, it would of been a shame had I missed the process." She would admit as it wouldn't have done well had they started on Kaya without her there, but it wouldn't be any of there faults to take. It simply wouldn't do if she had arrived much to slowly, or had other things to take care of much more prior to to the moment. However, the thought still lingered in her mind and she found herself wondering what to do. That was, until she would listen as the doctor explained how Raine required some serious medical attention if he were to stay alive for the entire process. It just wouldn't do if the man took the easy way out, however she remained silent as Ciaran had that under control, which she put all of her trust into as she always had. She would wait for the two to finish with Raine, not bothering to check on him. The captures were nothing more than stepping stones to fulfilling the world she wished to implant, they meant nothing than providing the bits of pieces she'd needed to complete the puzzle. She would walk over to Kaya's cell, a lingering smirk still plastered to the womans face.
Kimura would listen as Ciaran began to explain the information he had found, providing some very useful facts about the girl. How could a child get by with no record of existing in anything at all? There was no way she never went to the doctors, or that anyone knew anything about her. There was something unusually fishy about this girl, and she intended on finding out what it was at the cost of nothing. She was quite intrigued with the information provided by her fellow guild member, proud of his accomplishments and achieving the goals. Kaya's attitude and defiant words were already starting to piss her off and the day was barely starting to begin. The girl was driving her nerves up the wall, and if she wasn't careful she'd be joining the guild masters up there in hell. She'd simply pull out her masterpiece Scythe which was the color of a dark red and bore the guild mark of Dragons Bane; lifting it and pointing it dangerously close to Kaya's neck. "I wouldn't sit here and lie if I were you, I can make your worst nightmares come true. We can either do this the easy way, or the hard way. I prefer the hard, but I'm afraid a fragile fairy such as yourself wont be be able to handle what's to come. She would state simply, the smirk never fading, that was until she brought up that same phrase. Frowning a bit as that same word came up, the one etched in her mind and burned her into a mad woman, she would smash the sythe into the wall next to her, causing a gaping whole as pieces of the wall crumbled outside of it onto the floor. That was an empty threat, intended to put forth fear into her if she would continue to defy everything asked. "I'll ask again, where did you hear that phrase from? Be warned, this is your last chance to answer truthfully. If you don't, I will make you feel unimaginable pain like you never felt before." She would say, her eyes glowing with serious and daring red flames. The anger in her tone was as clear as day.
Soon Doctor Shaw would get to work on Kaya, taking some blood samples from the girl as she watched. She would nod simply as the girl would thank her for allowing her to do what she'd needed to with the slayer, as she didn't mind helping her achieve her own intentions. "It was my pleasure." She would answer with a smirk as she also began to take some hair from the girl, as such Ciaran would begin the questioning phase, asking if she would like the honors in asking the first question. Agreeing, she'd take her weapon away from Kaya and stare into her eyes with a deadly gaze. "Who are your parents, dear? No, I'm not talking about dragons either. I'm speaking of your real parents who you were born by. What are there names? Answer truthfully, and you'll have an easier time. Just remember, you're the one cornered." She would say with a smirk, hoping to scare the real answer out of her. This question wasn't a necessary one by much, but it was simple and not only that, could help to provide some information about her. The name, maybe if she knew there name she could remember something to help in there goals to learn about her. And they could find some records on there names most likely leading up to Kaya's own.

Raine raised an eyebrow,"Clement took convincing, huh? That’s surprises me. I would have thought he would hear the words ‘innocent stray child’ and flown in to the rescue without a second thought,he chuckled, having no issue with referring to the slayer in what would normally be a derogatory manner if it were not for the fact he was also technically a stray too. He nodded quietly. He was definitely better off with Celeste. He would never tell anyone of the words he knew were spoken between the guild masters at the last meeting. Kaya would never believe the unkindness that had come from him that day. As ace, he’d attended alongside Ymir and Andrea and needless to say none, including Clement, were quiet in their accusations. Though spoken behind a closed door, he was well-aware that some of them had deemed him ‘sub-human’ in nature. Whether it was true or not, he didn’t want to hear it from them. He found it difficult to believe that Kaya would back off in a tough fight but he couldn’t be bothered to start another fight over how stubborn she was. He breathed an unsteady sigh of relief. She wouldn’t tell. Now he’d really need to make an effort to be nice considering she was now returning the comment of support for the duration of whatever hell they were about to go through."I think you’ll be too preoccupied with your own pain to worry about pushing me again,"he said bluntly.
Raine breathed heavily, not completely taking in what the doctor was saying to him but he caught the main parts. Monster? Maybe. Scary? So what? Handsome? Obviously. Heartless? Definitely. A crush? Wrong. He flinched at the mention of Octavia’s brush with Blood Raine,"That… was…,"he tried to get the words out but the pain was too much and he couldn’t finish his sentence. He didn’t know why he tried. None of these dark wizards believed that he didn’t want to either ******** her or kill her. They were wrong. So wrong. Ironically, whilst this woman clearly wasn’t fazed by the torture being dealt out to him, she did seem concerned with his other injuries. The burns he’d gained from fighting both the flame-covered boy and the brat guild master. In all fairness, she was right. It was probably going to get infected if it wasn’t treated within the next few hours.
He glared at Kimura,"I certainly noticed you’d gone. I couldn’t you’re your annoying voice anymore,"he muttered to himself. The blood mage’s head hung down, trying to relieve some of the tension in his head. The drugs, constant personality switches and pain had brought on a horrendous headache. Unfortunately, this was short-lived as cold hands grabbed his chin and brought his head up. He found the pale yellow eyes of Ciaran staring down into his own golden glare with a look so smug that he wanted to smash the man’s face in right then and there. Though he couldn’t move, the dark ecriture mage’s words made his muscle tremble in anger. He could feel the runes starting to hold his head in that uncomfortable upright position. Resorting to a fairly disgusting and petty action, Raine huffed air through his gritted teeth, causing a light spray of blood to aim at his enemy,"I told you, you’ll never get your hands on Octavia or anyone else,"he said, straining to speak due to the tightness of the binding spell. He hoped the celestial wizard had done the smart thing and stayed with Andrea. Whatever they had planned for the dragon slayer, Octavia wouldn’t’ survive half of it. With his head tilted up, Raine was struggling. He could feel blood trickling down his throat and with limited head movement, it he were to throw up again, he’d possibly choke on it. A blood mage dying from choking on his own blood? That would be quite the ending. He tried to swallow it down. He needed something to focus on to forget the pain. Not-so-luckily, Ciaran had presented him with a distraction that he had no choice but to watch. He knew without a doubt that the dark wizard wasn’t lying when he threatened to cut his eyelids,"Sick b*****d,"he murmured,"What happens if I pass out?"he asked. Little did he know they had methods of keeping them both awake among other terrible things in the bags they’d brought down with them.
Regardless of not wanting to watch Kaya be harmed needlessly, Raine couldn’t help but also be curious as to whether this annoying child of a guild master could manage to unearth truths that the water dragon slayer perhaps was just unable to recall. Maybe she just needed coaxing. He wasn’t giving these people a free pass by any means but should all else fail, it might trigger a memory. However, there were plenty of other methods that could be used before resorting to this kind of action but they wouldn’t be a proper dark guild if they didn’t go for the worst treatment first. He wanted to close his eyes so badly. He was exhausted. But he knew this was only the beginning.
OOC: Kaya, I just realised that Ciaran and Octavia have the same birthday! Valentine’s babies!

Kaya chuckled, “Well, to be fair, I was an ‘innocent stray child’ from another country. John said that there was a lot of legal stuff that they had to figure out first. His guess was that Master Clement just wanted to be careful in case my family was looking for me or something,” she shrugged. That specific day was a blur of police, hushed discussions, thousands of questions, and trips between the American Embassy and the Japanese Prime Minister’s office. Of course, to a Dragon Slayer, the worst part of it all had been the traveling. “Hmph,” the teenager grunted, bobbing her head, “Can’t argue with that.” As much as she hated to admit it, she understood that neither of them were leaving without encountering a significant amount of pain. Dark mages loved to inflict harm on others, and these ones were the worst of all, seeing them as merely test subjects to be experimented on.
As if to prove that point, the woman the other mages referred to as Doctor Shaw stepped into her cell, a broad amused grin spread across her face. “An idiot like you wouldn’t get it,” she growled in response to the scientist’s assumptions. It was true that Fairy Tail condemned killing unless truly necessary. However, Raine’s case was unique. How could she hate someone who had no control over his darker half’s actions? She couldn’t find it in herself to do that. Kaya opened her mouth to tell the woman exactly what would happen if she touched her, but the words died in her throat. In their place, a strangled cry issued forth as crimson runes raced to latch onto her. They snaked and coiled around until they covered her from head to toe. Drawing taught, they constricted her to where she couldn’t move a single muscle. Sharp and fierce pain radiated from the gashes on her back and burn around her neck. Her bruised and battered body protested the new and harsh restriction placed on it. The smug look from Shaw made it all the worse. Damn it! Kaya tried to fight against the spell that bound her but, like the previous time, she couldn’t break its hold. She was relegated to watching Shaw shove her hoodie sleeve further down her arm before wrapping a latex tourniquet around it. A sharp pinch in the crease of her elbow soon followed. The coppery scent of blood- her blood- filled the Slayer’s nostrils as the scientist drew vial after vial from her veins. Finally, after collecting six vials, the teenager felt the needle withdrawn from her skin. A wave of dizziness washed over her just as Shaw predicted, though she tried to hide it. Instead, she focused on the unwelcome touch of the stranger’s hand running through her hair. “Still…mind,” she ground out through clenched teeth.
Her attention lingered on Shaw for a few seconds longer before being pulled to the small guild master. A smirk of triumph tugged at the corner of her mouth, Bullseye. The girl clearly didn’t like being called a short stack, which is essentially what Kaya’s saying translated into. Her amusement was short-lived in the end. She found herself looking down the business end of a rather large, dark red scythe. A scythe that was promptly slammed into the nearest wall, creating a decent-sized hole in the process, as a threat and promise from the girl. Kaya’s smirk faded into a bewildered frown. “I didn’t hear it…from anywhere,” she struggled to speak through the pain. “I’ve said it ever since…I was a kid.” Why did she care so much? Granted, it heartened the Slayer to see her annoyed by the term since that’s what she intended, but the intense anger was odd. Ciaran stepped in front of her, drawing her ice blue gaze to him. She felt the searing stares of both him and his master on her. Then, without warning, he dismissed his spell, returning her freedom of movement to her. Her muscles slowly relaxed again, or as much as her metal restraints would allow, and she exhaled a small breath of relief. What the hell’s he talkin’ about? His subsequent diatribe on her purported ancestor did little to assuage her confusion. Eyes flicking from Ciaran to Kimura, she stared into the deep red gaze of the latter. “Yue and Watatsumi,” she answered simply, no fear in her tone or expression. She’d gone against the dark guild master by giving their names instead of her birth parents’. Yet, as much as it was out of defiance, it was also because she had no other answer. Her dragons were the only parents she’d ever known. There were times when Kaya could vaguely recall a man from her childhood. Someone she knew she had been close to at one time. That’s all she could remember of him. Just a blurry face who murmured something unintelligible to her in her dreams.
