Levy continued to eat, waiting for an answer. The one she received was more or less what she was expecting, based on his appearance (he was a good eight inches shorter than her) but she exhibited no reaction. Even if he is turning fourteen soon... He's still too young. The princess was impressed with the maturity he held himself with, yet it did nothing to sway her feelings towards him in any romantic sense. She could see herself becoming friends with the duke, but nothing more. She took another bite of pasta before commenting. "I see. Will you be celebrating at the academy?" She inquired, dabbing at her mouth with the corner of her napkin. "If you let the staff know, they will bake you your favorite dessert." She offered, speaking from past experience. Levy enjoyed the rush of memories that flooded her mind - her birthday celebration last year was quite the party. "Oh, and I'm seventeen." She added, meeting his gaze through a few strands of her golden locks which had fallen over her eyes.

Tom led his roommate on the way into the dining hall for breakfast. Kenton had tried to slow him down by talking about the grounds and asking him questions. Gods be, what a nerd.

"Mate, I'm being totally serious," Tom said, yanking open the hall door. "Relax. It's just school. Nothing else."

"Respect, Sir Prince, but that is not what I have heard, including from you." Kenton walked into the hall and made for the kitchens, only to be rebuffed. Tom snickered.

"No dice?" he guessed. Kenton glared, and nodded. "See, what'd I tell you. People serve you here. Get used to it, Lieutenant."

"Here, I am no lieutenant, but lord," Kenton corrected. "I fully intend to work this evening."

"Over the banquet? You're breaking my heart," Tom scoffed. "I'll get to you yet."

"I should say I would like to see you try, but I suspect that if I do, then you will."

"You'd be right." They went to the table and picked out some foods. After seeing the paltry fare Kenton took for himself, Tom added a few rolls and cold cuts to his roommate's plate.

"Excuse me, I can feed myself," snapped the fairy.

"Excuse you, evidently you can't," Tom rebuffed. "Eat more, or you're gonna get sick when it gets cold. Trust me, I did that last year."

"You woke me up this morning and forced me to attack you," Kenton pointed out. "Why are you suddenly so concerned with my well-being?"

"I don't know if you've noticed, but we're roommates and I'm a bit of a jackass," Tom said, sitting down at an empty table. "You get sick, it's on me and I get in trouble because I'm older and presumably wiser."

"Respect, but I would beg to differ."

"Yeah, so will the staff." Tom tucked in to his eggs and a dinner roll. "And if I get in trouble because you get the sniffles, that's gonna throw a spanner in all my works."

"I shudder to think." Kenton sat down opposite the altogether strange boy, surveying who would undoubtedly be his constant room companion for the year. Tom pointed to the cold cuts he'd stuck on Kenton's plate.

"See? It's starting. Eat and you're free." Kenton gave a small sigh, and began to eat.

Chris briskly walked into the hall, got himself a plate and filled it with eggs, bacon, sausage, bacon, some fruit, bacon, and a piece of dried toast... and bacon. He was rather ecstatic about this meal. Mama never breakfast for him. It was usually cereal.
He noticed Kenton and Tom conversing and sat down with them, munching on his bacon, "Good morning, knuckleheads! How'd you sleep?"

"Heeeey!" Tom's face broke into a grin, waving Chris over. "Morning!" He turned briefly to his roommate. "Ken, this is Chris."

"We've met," Kenton said, inclining his head to Chris. "Good morning. I am glad you've slept well, Sir Prince."

Tom rolled his eyes dramatically. "Oh my GOD, I wish you'd STOP that," Tom grumbled. "It's like being followed around by a grammar textbook written a hundred years ago." Kenton shrugged meekly, and returned to his toast.

"So what's the plan for today?" Tom asked, taking a bite of a sausage link. "Anything exciting? I'm bored out my skull, I need something to do."

"Celebrate here?" Vincent repeated, his tone contemplative. Usually Jasper would cook up his favorite dessert. But if the chefs here were willing to do it, he supposed it might not be such a bad idea. Smiling, he nodded. "I think I'll do that.. Maybe I can have a party or something." His expression fell, however, when she mentioned her age. 'Seventeen,' he thought, pushing the food around his plate with his fork. '.. She's practically an adult.. There's no way she'd be interested in me..' Sighing quietly, he took a sip of his tea, his eyes averted from her and looking into the flames of the hearth for a moment. Just when he found someone he was interested in, she had to be so much older than him. What sort of games was Fate trying to play with him?

OOC: Drew the new pic this morning and I love it! I hope everyone else does too. I just wish I could program my scanner better because it always turns out too big on photobucket and I have to re-size the drawing which blurs the lines....

PRINCE MARKUS AND PRINCESS MEREDY

How did things end up like this? Markus wondered as he somewhat stumbled into the dining hall. Meredy had been tightly clinging to his left arm since they left his room. Apparently she was a very shy person. "We're here, you can let go now" said Markus. Meredy nodded and relaxed her grip but did not let go entirely. "You hungry? The line for food is over there. I'm going to find somewhere to sit."

Despite all of the new faces, Markus did not have much trouble finding someone familiar. He tapped Tom on the shoulder. "You're looking as lively as ever. Mind if I-I mean we sit here?" He sat down next to Kenton. "My friend is getting her food right now so she'll be joining us soon."

Tom's eyes brightened as he turned around and saw Markus at his shoulder. FINALLY, a familiar face. "Markus! Good to see you, man. Have a good break?"

He twisted around to see the other half of the "we." A lady friend? Oh man. Lady friend or lady friend? Lady friend or lady "friend?" So many questions, and not a one he was tactful enough to ask in front of other people.

"Friend, eh. She looks... sweet," he offered haphazardly, casting around for a change of subject and feeling exceptionally grateful Viola wasn't around. Oh GOD, how would he handle conversations with Viola? He shoved that thought out of his mind. That was a battle for another day. He was in too good a mood this morning to let her ruin it without even being in the room.

He took a sip of his juice, nearly choking when Kenton stabbed him in the gut with a robed elbow. "MMF—Ah!" He swallowed, wiping the juice off his mouth. "Geeze, how rude of me. Markus, this is my roommate, Lieutenant—"

"Lord," insisted the fairy flatly.

"—Kenton," Tom finished, defiant as ever. "Military man, super neat, here from the ocean or something. Ken, this is Prince—"

Kenton immediately leapt to his feet, bowing to Markus before standing up straight as a board.

"...Prince Markus," Tom finished lamely, rolling his eyes. "Ken, knock it off, you're embarrassing."

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Sir Prince," Kenton said, remaining standing until Tom yanked him back down by the shirtsleeve.

"What the hell did I say, take it easy," Tom insisted, planting Kenton back in his seat. Kenton pulled at the cuffs of his robes, glaring at Tom. He was getting used to Tom's behavior, which was lucky: he had a feeling it wouldn't be changing anytime soon. Was it customary for royals and nobles to dine together here? He supposed there was no precedent, since this was the first year of co-attendance.

"Respect, but you are my superiors and I shall treat you as such with all the etiquette I may," Kenton said staunchly, standing back up. Tom let out a heavy, dramatized sigh. Kenton responded by giving his wings an irate flutter, letting them clatter together with an almost plasticky clicking sound. Tom scowled at him.

"Whatever." Kenton resisted the urge to smack his roommate, and instead made for the kitchens. Perhaps if not breakfast, he could help with brunch.

"Sorry if I might bug you with this, but who's that?" Tom asked Markus. He cast a pointed look over his shoulder at the girl navigating the table laden with food. "Like. Who is she?" he asked pointedly. Conversation was not his strongest suit.

The princess swept back her bangs with her fingers, looking down at her almost empty plate. She was getting quite full but she just had to finish it all - it was just too good. Levy nodded, hearing Vincent express interest in having his birthday party at the academy. "It would be a blast. I could help you plan it, if you'd like!" She offered, for the teen was well known in her home country to throw the best parties. The princess scooped the rest of her food onto her fork, watching as the boy's eyes looked past her and into the fire. She could sense he was troubled. "Is something wrong?" Levy could feel the change of mood shift suddenly in the air, but that wasn't all that was different; suddenly there were more people in the room. So many smells... I wonder if people are finally getting ready for the big kick off to the year... She thought to herself before turning her attention back to the duke.

☆═━Maeza Lee━═☆

❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖

Maeza flew into the dining hall, grimacing a bit. Her wings were still healing and flying for that long made them sting. And they were tired, still regaining their endurance. It wasn't easy, growing new wings. She quickly spotted Tom and, despite everything, smiled and wave. She walked over and slid into the chair beside him, as though nothing had changed even though everything was different. "Hello again, Markus. Good to see you," she greeted the boy. She hadn't spoken to him much last year until after the attack. After her greeting, the Night Fairy glanced at Tom. "Sleep well?" she joked, a twinkle in her eye.

"You would do that?" he asked quietly, looking back up to her when she offered to plan his party. That would certainly help out when the time came. When she finally asked him what was wrong, he didn't know what to say. He didn't want to tell her that he had been thinking about courting her. That would just be embarrassing.. Instead, he shrugged it off and yawned, trying to pass it off for sleepiness. "It was a long carriage ride to get here.. I just can't wait to get some sleep," he said, not stretching the truth by much. He was pretty tired. "So, what sort of classes have you signed up for? Do you think we'd have any together, or.. Maybe not, since we're.. In different years," he said, his tone trailing off a bit. Too much of this and it would start to become obvious what was bothering him.

Tom's face lit up as though nothing had changed. Mae!

Immediately after, it darkened, because everything had. Mae...

"Uh, Markus, you remember Mae," he said awkwardly, wishing that Kenton had stayed for even a minute longer to give him an excuse to use her name again. He grinned at her. "Probably just about as well as you did, I suspect. How's your morning? Got a nice room this year?"

He ran his fingers through his hair, trying to think of a way to explain this in the all too likely event that Viola walked in. "Um. Yeah, so banquet's tonight," he stated lamely, staring at the door and wishing for someone, anyone to walk in and save him from this most awkward, most uncomfortable, most painful of conversations.

It was a good thing Mae did not cast a shadow, else he'd have more than his fiancée to answer to.

Suddenly, a blast of color entered the room, shocking Tom's vision so much that he gave a little yelp, as though in pain. He whipped around, searching for the source, be it deadly light or unknown magic, that had caused it.

Haidee sashayed into the dining hall with the same bravado she had last night at dinner. She spied a few familiar faces, one less likable than the others. Trying not to let the jerkish prince's presence spoil her breakfast, she walked right past his table on her way to get food. All at once, an arm reached out and grabbed her by the sash.

"Unhand me!" she shrieked, swatting at the greyish hand. She recognized it, it belonged to her least favorite person in the room.

"How. Did you. Do that?" the dark prince asked, getting up. He was considerably taller than she was, and he was staring at her as though he'd never seen a woman before.

"Do what?" she peeped. He was rather scary standing up; she didn't feel as brave as she had in the student commons.

"I'm colorblind," he snarled. "What did you do?"

Oh. Was that it? "No one shall be colorblind with me around," she said, a smile creeping onto her face. "What a sad way to live! Please, let me help." She stood up on her tiptoes and touched Tom's cheek, watching his eyes widen and his jaw drop. He grabbed her wrist, shaking.

"How."

"Trust me," she said softly, her small smile breaking into a grin. "Stay with me and I will help you see any color you like."

Levy offered the boy a quick half smile, nodding. "Sure!" The princess couldn't help but notice that something smelled 'off' about Vincent and as she folded her napkin and lay it down on the table next to her empty plate, she couldn't help but wrinkle her nose in dissatisfaction. Frustration, disappointment... They were smells unappealing to the teen's nose, and it didn't help that all of her senses were heightened thanks to her magic. "Ah, I see. Traveling can take a lot out of you. However, I still love it. I'm going to see the whole world someday!" She said confidently, sitting up straight as she racked her brain for an answer to his question, still unsatisfied with his answer. She knew that was only half the truth, but she didn't pursue the topic. "Hm... I believe my schedule goes Fighting, Literature, Law and Ethics, then Riding. Just because we're in different years doesn't necessarily mean we will be separated. There's a fairly good possibility we can have class together. And even if we don't, there's always time outside of class." Levy said, reassuring the boy. She wasn't ashamed to admit it to herself, she enjoyed the youngling's company. "That being said though, do any of my classes match up with yours?

Robert walked into the room with his usual cheerful smile. He was an early riser, always had been, and the smell of food certainly helped his mood. He took a deep breath and sighed contently. All around him were familiar faces, students from the year before, the poor kids. Robert quickly pushed away thoughts of last year and focused on getting his food on a plate. He noticed that Princess Maeza was looking a bit...well, upset, and he could see why. Prince Thomas with a girl Robert didn't recognize. This could get...complicated.

It was neat that she wanted to see the world. He wasn't too keen on traveling, but it was nice to see a girl with a sense of adventure. When she listed her classes, his expression brightened a bit, satisfied with the cross-over. "Yes, actually, I take Law & Ethics and Riding in my third and fourth block. So I'll be seeing you at least once every day in class," he said, his tone picking up slightly. If he got to spend time with her, maybe he could convince her that he wasn't just some kid. "Do you have a lot of experience riding horses? I rode all the time at home."

Maeza couldn't miss the expressions on Tom's face. Her own mood saddened a bit. But she smiled back and replied, "Beautiful room. Though....Viola's my roommate." An awkward silence fell between them and Maeza wish she had thought to get food before she sat down. She looked down at the table, only to look again when Tom spoke. Ah..."Yes, so it is," she said, looking at the table once again.

Suddenly, Tom gave a small yelp that immediately had Maeza worried. "Tom, are you okay?" she gasped, reaching a hand out before drawing it back. Next thing the fairy knew, Tom had grabbed another princess and was then standing. Maeza watched the scene unfold in silence. She bristled when the girl's hand touched Tom's cheek. It seemed she was going to have some trouble getting over all of this...

Maeza stood and walked away from her chair, as though to get food, and made herself trip, falling so that she landed on top of this colorful girl. They went down, Maeza hitting her head on a chair and making a small gash appear. "I am so sorry!" she said immediately, though she was far from the emotion.
