Half an hour after the rest of them had departed Raegar finished his meal and made his way back to the stables to find Fidessa, Dimitri, and Roger waiting. The bear head had been pulled back up over his own and without more than a nod he went into the stable to find his Auroch mount, Kolo.

A visage of worry came over Fidessa's face. "Uhmm... Guys, I'm not made very well for horses. They make you bounce around and they're unpredictable." Fidessa tried to defend her case. "Is there room on that fluffy one?" She asked, referring to Kolo as she pointed.

"You may ride with me if you like," Jeeves said as she entered the stables. She inclined her head to the outer yard where a pair of stablemen were just finishing hitching two large oxen to a wagon that resembled a little house on wheels.
Jeeves carried a few bulging scrips over her shoulders and hitched them up a little,"There is room enough for two on the seat, but most of the room in the wagon is for my equipment. All of which," she gave Raeger a pointed look,"is completely necessary."

"That works too!" Fidessa replied as she approached Jeeves and then looked beyond her to the wagon she had prepared. "I like your style." She smiled and gave a thumbs up.

"We should get moving." Roger said. "Every minute we waste could mean the pack growing another fiend stronger. Or coming across a farm or village."
"A good point." Dimitri said.
Dimitri and Roger both gently flicked their reins, urging their mounts to begin heading out of the complex. They did keep their pace sedate though, as they waited for Raegar to take point.

((So I've been informed that creed_master will be unable to post for a period of time(two weeks ish). So I'm going to temporarily take control of his character for the sake of keeping this moving sort of. He'll just be very not talkative. You know, more than usual.))

Raegar didn't waste time or words and urged his aurochs mount forward. The shaggy beast complied and led the way out of the complex. Dimitri and Roger fell in behind Raegar on their horses. Dimitri and Roger both settled in comfortably. They spent more time on the road between missions then they usually did at the Corps. or actually executing their missions.
Dimitri did glance over his shoulder at the girls seated on the bench of the wagon that Jeeves had insisted was necessary. He would've liked to have gotten more chance to talk to with that Fidessa girl. She seemed interesting. And was undeniably attractive. He sighed. It was just his luck that he finally found a girl that wasn't a swooning idiot or a bloodthirsty warrior and she rebuffed his advances so casually. Ah well, he thought and settled back in for the ride.

Jeeves had climbed on to the drivers seat of the wagon and waited for Fidessa to clamber up next to her before flicking the reins to get the oxen moving. The wheels turned easily, not squeaking in the slightest. Jeeves fished her notepad out of one of her many pockets and checked then nib on her small pencil and poised to write. Without looking at Fidessa asked casually,"What series are you from?"

Fidessa was shocked for a moment by Jeeves' probing question.
"How... do you know about me and where I'm from?" Fidessa answered in a hush whisper. She didn't want the others to know she wasn't actually a hunter.

Jeeves was halfway through writing Fidessa's words before realizing they weren't answering her question. She tsked and tore the small bit of paper off her notepad and tossed it aside,"I was in an Axis facility. Obviously. So, your series? I'd love to see how they've progressed. Some of the ideas they had were quite frankly a bit unimaginative, but maybe they've managed to get outside the box a little."
Her pencil remained poised, ready to begin writing.

Fidessa waited until the rest of the group had spread out a bit so she could be sure they wouldn't hear her words over the wagon wheels.
"I'm actually a bit unique compared to the other Series... I don't particularly have an ability besides my martial arts. The reason for my Series is because Fyura. In case you were wondering, he's the leader of Axis and he had saved my life when I was a child and raised me since my parents were killed by fiends. I was personally trained by Fyura, which makes me part of the FAX Series. I'm FAX09 because I'm the ninth one he's trained in his way of combat." Fidessa explained quietly. "I'm sure he is now looking for his next disciple. By the way, I'd appreciate if you kept all that a secret for the time being." Fidessa smiled and held up Tia's ID dagger as if it were her own.

Jeeves scribbled furiously as Fidessa spoke, making quick notations of her own in places off in the margins,"Mmm, yes....interesting. Axis wouldn't be content with superior skill. I can assume enhanced reflexes and strength, but we can test those later. Hm? Oh, yes yes. I've no need to spread any rumors about new recruits." Jeeves said it off handedly, never looking away from her writings.

Fidessa sighed a heavy sigh of relief.
"That's good to know, I really didn't want to end up fighting friends of little Kiro." She admitted. I suppose some of these people can be pretty understanding. Probably not that boss guy of theirs though...

Jeeves mused over her notes and jotted a few more entries before tucking the pad back into one of her pockets. She handled the reins of the oxen team again almost as an after thought. The animals seemed placid enough, barely needing to be guided at all as they lumbered along with the rest of the group.
"These fiends that the barbarian is taking us to deal with. Is it possible they are an Axis creation? Fiends don't usually exhibit such behavior. Hmmm..."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 01, 2014 9:10 pm

Fidessa remained silent. She didn't know for sure if they were or not made by Axis, though it was possible. It was also possible that the fiends were mutating on their own and evolving into more intelligent beings. Even Fidessa wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a fiend made in the lab compared to a fiend in the wild.

(( Hello everyone – sorry for the long post! If it’s okay with you guys, I’ll be using a green text for the scenes in this introduction to indicate that they take place in a different place from where Rhaegar and friends are. Once my character crosses paths with you all, I will revert the font color change. ))

The nine members of Darkan’s chief council exchanged glances as the proposal was put forth by a blonde-haired young man, the most recently appointed representative at the large diamond-shaped, stone table. The stoic faces of all of the representatives made it somewhat difficult for one to guess what their exact thoughts were. At least, such conjectures could not be made based on facial expression alone. Regardless, the unanimous response to the man’s proposal was the same as it typically was to similar proposals made in the past.

“It is against our beliefs to work alongside the Calivert Hunter Guardian Corps,” one woman spoke first, her voice calm and reserved. She had bright white hair which fell down to her waist, and tiny wrinkles that gave proof of her old age.

“This should not be news to you,” a much older man chimed in. His nose was crooked and his eyes were dark with weariness.

Several other council members contributed their thoughts, all of which shared the sentiment of the first two comments. The blonde-haired man let out a very gentle sigh, clasping his hands over one another in his lap, somewhat in defeat.

“I understand the importance of upholding Darkan’s long-standing customs of independence,” he began, keeping his eyes fixed on his hands in his lap. “But at this very moment, we do not possess the battle strength capable of defending our village from the growing threat of fiends. We lack the numbers. How do we convince the world that we are able to fight on our own if we cannot prevent attacks at our very doorstep?”

Silence enveloped the room, as each council member carefully considered his or her thoughts. Before anyone could respond, the blonde-haired man finally glanced up from his lap and stared across the room in a blank focus of concentration at the wall, as though he were in a trance. “Independence will do us no good in our graves.”

---

Darkan is a small village located in the northern woodlands of Calivert. Despite its size, it has a very stable economy and political system. The chief council presides as the central authority of the village’s internal and external affairs.

The village’s economy thrives off of its excavation of special minerals, which miners dig up from underneath the village. Darkan merchants travel across Calivert selling these minerals at substantially high prices. These minerals are typically worn as jewelry or even used for medicines, but some of the more experimental scholars have been discovering ways to incorporate the minerals in the creation of special weapons for combat. There is a large well at the center of the village which burrows deep into the earth, where the miners do their work.

Darkan was able to remain a relatively safe and peaceful village until a recent uprising of fiends began to ravage the northern woodlands, wreaking havoc across small settlements. With the looming threat of the fiends on the horizon, Darkan bravely prepares itself for whatever dangerous forces may arrive. Eager to prove to the world their ability to fend for themselves, the Darkaners will aggressively decline any and all assistance in their defiant stance against the fiends.

---

Blada’s stride was valiant and determined as she patrolled the dim and ghostly roads of Darkan, her home village. Heavy shadows rained over the villagers due to the thick clumps of tall trees blocking out sunlight from above. The village was mostly lit up by torches and lanterns containing a mineral known as Sunsprite, which gives off an incredibly bright, orange light when set on fire. Not as many people were out and about that day; the village scouts had not yet returned with updated information on the movements of the fiends, so the villagers remained paranoid that an attack could happen at any moment. The safest decision was for the villagers to hide in their houses until an announcement was made by the village scouts.

With the Whimzerst sheathed safe and ready on Blada’s back, she was prepared for whatever threat might arrive unexpected. Although she was not yet a member of Darkan’s militia, Blada was one of the village’s most dangerous fighters despite being only nineteen years old. This was almost entirely because of her powerful sword which had to remain sheathed at all times because even Blada herself did not have full control over its powers. The Whimzerst was forged with a special mineral, unlike the other weapons used by soldiers in Darkan’s militia; this mineral granted Blada and the Whimzerst an extremely unique advantage in battle, utilizing static electricity to immobilize foes and render them vulnerable for a swift sword strike.

As the ringing of a bell filled the dusky air, the members of the chief council gradually filed out of the council office, which was located on an elevated mound raised high over all the other houses in Darkan. Blada spotted her blonde-haired father Alkner among them, and her mother Rendy a short pace behind them. Judging by the distance between her mother and father, Blada could tell that the council had a very serious discussion that day, likely concerning the approaching threat of fiends. Blada knew her father’s stance on the matter – it was a topic of debate and disagreement within the family for the past few days. Although she respected her father for the most part, she could not help but view him with slight disappointment for his eagerness to part ways with one of Darkan’s core values.

She quickened her pace, hurrying to speak with her father and hear about the council’s thoughts concerning his proposal to join forces with the Calivert Hunter Guardian Corps.

(( I will move forward with their conversation once you guys have made a little more progress on your trek. ))
