Maggie promptly doubled over laughing through Alena's prim and proper explanations. She really was just like Lin! It was so easy to ruffle their wings!

"Oh come one, it's not like detention is bad! It's just like an extra study hall or something, all he did was make you sit there and read. He can't hurt us, that's illegal." She stood up straight, chuckling, and brushed the hair from her face. "But you're right, the man has a lot to learn. Back home in the States, the principal of the school has to have a master's degree in education, and, like, five years of classroom experience." For once, she slightly serious. "He is a disgrace, but he's also not a teacher. He's an engineer, and I think that's pretty impressive. I don't know anyone who would completely change their career like that without a really good reason. He looks like he's about ready to resign anyways, have you ever looked at his face? He looks like a zombie!" She giggled, her serious spell utterly broken.

And then, she broke out laughing. "No way! You are totally - AMBROSE? Really?" Now, she was laughing so hard, tears were streaming down her glittery cheeks. "He's such a wuss!! Alena, you are TOO funny!"

((Oh hey, Ialo is back in action! For the sake of not having too much drama at once, let's say that this is happening the day after the party.))

Ialo slowly looked up at the judge. His expression was mostly blank, if a bit confused. This must have been another part of his dreams. He raised his hand slowly and placed it over his chest. He could feel his pulse, and feel it quicken with his sudden breath. This was all real.

Yet, he remained fairly composed. He was too tired, too mentally drawn out to make a big fuss as usual. Today, he would save the hysterics for later. "... You're forgiven, I suppose. It doesn't really matter anymore."

He was quiet for a few seconds, and decided to ask a question. "Why did you believe him?" He wanted know why Silas's words overpowered his, why the case was so unbelievably biased.

Immature Excuse

((Dang, I just noticed Kami's post. Nice and beefy, man. :'D))

Dymetri's face dropped at the mention of Ambrose, but ever so slightly that it went unnoticed by the others. The existence of this new Lin was still so new to him, so it was odd to hear that she loved another man.
He then wondered just how long this clone existed. Had it always been like this, yet he never saw it while he was teaching? Or perhaps it was created after his teaching. Maybe his Lin did like Ambrose but, when this clone was created, she took that part away from her. Or maybe after it was created, it met and found this other boy and quickly fell in love.
Dymetri quickly glanced to the direction of Lin.
Was Lin a clone of someone else who just so happened to fall in love with him?
He was making his head hurt. He didn't want to understand, but he was going to have to in order to stop his mind from going too deep into the what if's.
He turned back to see such a shocked face on Alena. Why so shocked? Was it a secret?
He thought of one of his what if's.
Perhaps it was, and it was kept from him.
Now he was really losing it. It didn't matter that Marcos kept talking to him but, since his mind was stronger, he had to use some effort to mute him. He still had somewhat of a feeling of what he was talking about though. That's the hard part, about sharing minds. You can't really escape from them. Now, though, Marcos was looking through his memories from when he was a human. A real human, in the past.

((Dang, notice how he calls Alena "it."))

((EDIT: Dang, I say dang a lot.))

Cerrus spoke seriously as he explained his reasoning behind the trial proceedings. "Mostly because we had little reason to doubt Silas. His records were spotless and he had no previous offenses brought to our attention. Not to mention the sheer staggering amount of evidence that was brought against you, and the fact that it all passed our initial scans and spell searches. But to be fair, you weren't helping your case when you constantly spoke out against me. You looked like a man who was desperately trying NOT to go to jail because he knew he had screwed up."

{{Dang you do.... wink }}

Alena's blush grew even brighter at Maggie's laughter, though she was glad when she heard her agree with her assessment of Ialo Enlil.

"Maggie, Ambrose is NOT weak by any means! How can you say that? You do not even know him! He puts the responsibility of taking care of his family entirely on himself and he chooses to educate himself simply so that he can better protect his loved ones. That is a strength that not many are blessed enough to have! He is one of the strongest men I know and men should strive to be like him!"

She raised her chin defiantly at Maggie.

Ialo sighed. "I have screwed up," he responded quietly. "Silas was very smart. Your Honor, not all those charges were entirely wrong. And some of my employees have turned out to be very corrupt people. As their boss, I am accountable for them. I know that I've made mistakes, and I know that I am potentially experimenting with forces that are a danger to all humanity."

He shifted a bit, and stared at the floor, rather than at the judge. "I don't have very many people that I trust, sir. That's why I panicked. I just... don't know. I couldn't leave Silas in charge of Mystic Fountain. He wouldn't understand. I don't think he'd understand, even if he saw the blood and fire in front of him. I don't think I do. But I don't have anyone to go to, when everyone is looking to me."

Maggie just stuck her tongue out at Alena. "There's a lot of men like Ambrose, he's just one of the few who doesn't hide under a bravado! I mean, why do you think Lin, and you I guess, and I'm here? Don't you want to be better able to take care of people? I think that's why people become healers in the first place. Why are you taking me so seriously anyways? I hope it's not because I'm a fairy, that's just silly. Besides, Ambrose is totally a pushover!"

Cerrus' outlook of Ialo was improving vastly from the few words the young man was speaking. Cerrus' voice was more calm and collected now as he voiced his mind to Ialo. "Be that as it may, whatever charges you have incurred are nothing the local authorities on Earth can't handle, should they find out about them. And as for your responsibility, we have done some digging into that as well. It's true, what you guard goes far beyond the call of duty that most people ever see in their entire lives. But you have done a good job so far, and from what we can tell you do have individuals close to home to rely on for help should you need it."

Cerrus seemed to straighten up where he was and spoke more authoritatively this time, declaring his end to this case. "Ialo Enlil, given the evidence presented and your own personal testimony, this court finds you innocent of all charges. You are hereby reinstated as Headmaster of Mystic Fountain Highschool, and will be returned immediately." Cerrus struck his gavel, and the wooden 'clack' rang throughout the empty courtroom. It was then that Cerrus seemed to smile, as much as a brain can, as he said his parting words to Ialo. "Go, and God's bless." Then the white light enveloped the room, encompassing Ialo in a warm, comforting glow.

The next thing Ialo would know is that he would be in his office, sitting at his desk with his old chair, with a fresh cup of coffee sitting in front of him and all the time in the world to enjoy.

Ialo leaned back, and stared at the walls of his office. This whole situation was incredibly surreal. He was really back, right? He closed his eyes.

All he saw was dark water, and the red-eyed silhouette of his other self smiling. That was enough for Ialo's eyes to shoot open, all the color draining from his face. No. No, no. He would not be falling asleep anytime soon. He glanced at the steaming coffee. He was going to need so much more.

Out of curiousity, he opened up the top drawer of the desk - his desk. He smiled slightly, and took out his cell phone. "Really? No one has stolen this yet?" From the mobile email program, he sent out a few messages. Some were to his family of course, but the last one...

To: Alec Leaton
I need to have a word with you.
- Your boss
PostPosted: Sun Jan 09, 2011 1:18 pm

Alec had been busying himself with paperwork at the moment that his cell phone began to buzz. Alec grumbled slightly as he pulled it put of his pocket, wondering what the problem was. The display said that he had an email in his inbox, so Alec went to his email function and looked at the message.

Alec's eyelids fell halfway at the sheer pompousness that Silas had. "Your Boss." How much more egotistical could this guy get? Reluctantly Alec got up from his chair and walked over to his classroom door. Waving his hand over the frame before he entered, Alec made the destination of the door change from outside in the hall to the Headmaster's office. Alec walked through and shut the door behind him, slowly turning around to face "his boss." "Alright Silas, what do want no-"

Alec's jaw nearly hit the floor when he saw who it was that was sitting behind the desk. It wasn't a pompous man in an overly expensive business suit, but someone that Alec thought was locked away for many years to come. Alec began to stammer as he pointed a weak finger in disbelief. "Buh.... wuh.... how..... ....you..... ................"

After the initial shock passed Alec shook his head clear and a huge smile broke out on his face. He nearly vaulted over the desk as he ran up and grabbed Ialo in a huge bear hug. "You're back! You're really back you sunuvabitch! I can't believe you're back!" Alec set Ialo back down in his chair and began to ask to obvious. "What happened? Why aren't you still in prison?"

The old familiar tic started in Ialo's eye, as this time - just this time, just this once - he would sit through a hug. No physical contact in what felt like years, this was incredibly awkward for him. He coughed politely as Alec set him back down.

"I think what happened is that I told you is that I needed to have a few words with you. I think I will let the hug and the comment about my mother slide, given the occasion." His voice was low, and tired, but there was a vague smile on his face. He would be happy, as long as he never closed his eyes again. "I wish I had a picture of your face."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 09, 2011 1:31 pm

Alec crossed his arms as his large smile turned into more of a grin. "Glad to see that you're still you, even after what happened." Alec's eyes grew more somber at that comment, thinking about the hell that Ialo must have been through during his stay in the prison. "Really though, what did you want to have a word about?"

Ialo just raised an eyebrow - his expression was no less than sly, even snide. "This first-born son of a dragon b***h wants to know what happened while he was gone. That slimy, smarmy b*****d couldn't have done anything actually productive here." Ialo crossed his arms expectantly.

Alec returned the smirk and began to walk about the room, trying to remember everything that Silas had managed to do. "Well, you're partially wrong about that. He did manage to make some 'administrative changes' that have hurt just about all of the staff. Benefits were taken away, vacation time and sick leave gone too. He reduced all our pay checks by a good 80%, made us pay rent for our own housing, and pay for our own supplies and curriculum. So in one sense, he actually made the school slightly profitable. But yeah, nobody's happy. Other than that though he hasn't done much. I managed to get him busy on another project that was supposed to get you back. Thank God I don't have to go through with that anymore."

Ialo did the math in his head while Alec talked. "Profitable? Possibly, by only a few coins. But not competitive. And I need the best teachers possible for my own project." He leaned forward. "And what about yours? Why are you so glad about not having to go through with it?" Ialo was genuinely curious. What kinda of hell would Alec go through to get him back, and Silas booted?
