Apatite was dead.
Ganymede never thought she would feel so relieved by someone's death, even someone as dangerous and crazed as Apatite had been. But she felt part of the crushing weight that often dragged her down lift just slightly.
The feeling did not last long. Youma appeared in the castle, and Ganymede could sense the aura of another General King or Queen. That left the forces of Order with two choices. Either leave and return to the portal before it closed, or stay to continue fighting with the dwindling hope of somehow making their way down to Metallia.
With Gevaudan's reappearance before Apatite's death, Ganymede assumed the attempt to breach the doors below had been met with failure.
Was it worth staying?
Ganymede took a deep but shaky breath.
She couldn't leave. Apatite was gone, and there was a chance they could dispose of another like her. Even if they couldn't make it to Metallia, killing two such high ranking agents would likely be a crippling blow to the Negaverse, even if only temporarily.
Ganymede was exhausted. With Apatite out of the way the adrenaline which aided Ganymede's fight lessened. She was sore from the effort. And tired. Either from using her Eternal magic twice or from hovering in the air without much prior experience, she wasn't sure which. Likely both. A chunk had been slashed out of the top of one of her wings. The trailing train of her dress was stained with blood. Her bare feet, too. Little cuts had appeared up and down her arms from the scales which shot off Apatite during the General Queen's demise. Tiny rivulets of blood trickled down from them.
She had only a broken glass shoe for a weapon.
Ganymede took another deep, shaky breath. Slow, calming.
“Gev,” she said. “You should leave now. You need to see a doctor. You can't die here. Anyone who's left after this battle needs someone who knows the Negaverse and Metallia the way you do.”
Then she turned to Valhalla, and she could no longer breathe. Tears slipped down her face despite her efforts to control them. She drew close to him and brought her free hand to his cheek.
“I want you to leave, too,” she said. Her voice broke. “You've done enough. You need to go. You need to be with Henry and Abby. After all we went through to have them, we can't both die before they're even old enough to remember us. Please. Go for me. I swear I'll do everything in my power to find a way out. But I need you to be safe. If you don't live, then everything I've ever done in this war will be for nothing.”
She forced a heaving breath into her lungs. It sounded hard and ragged.
“Please, go,” she begged him. “Please. I love you.”

Lt. HuntiteHe watched the General Queen as well, frowning at just how lost she had become. How could someone of her power level allow herself to fall into the trap that was eating starseeds so easily? They were all warned of what would happen if they ate too many of them at one time and the General beside him just confirmed what was happening after he teleported them to a greater distance. "There is no way we can stop this now is there." It came out less of a question and more of a statement as the Order around Apatite attacked her. On one hand he wanted to help her and stop the invaders from killing one of their leaders, on the other hand it was he own stupidity that had caused this and as far as he knew there would be no stopping the transformation now. He was however just as shocked as Benitoite when Apatite's own weapon was the killing blow, shocked enough that he might not have moved fast enough to drop on his own had the General not pulled him down with him. When he looked up he could see the scales all around, embedded in the surroundings and people alike. Huntite scowled as he could see some of the scales had injured, possibly even killed a few of their own who hadn't been fast enough to drop and got to his feet to see Benitoite approach Apatite's body in time for her to turn into dust. Damn. She had been crazy but she had been one of theirs and what was more she had been one of their leaders and now they didn't even have a body to bury. He felt the youma and another of their sovereigns coming and it jolted him into action just as much as the General calling out to him did. The Lieutenant moved over to the General's side and kept ready for another fight. "Sir, do you think the youma will attack ours?" He asked as he eyed the other officers around them. Some were still standing, others were on the ground either dead or knocked out.

Erebus, Squire of SaturnNote to self, don't team up with Gevuandan in battle if there is multiple things going on at once. It was the first thing that came to mind when the Knight left the doors and ran back up the stairs, leaving Venice, Chaldene, and himself to either fallow if they could or be outnumbered if they couldn't. He understood completely that the plan wasn't working and they should focus on the fights they could win but it would have been nice if Gev had made sure his teammates could indeed follow him. As it was, the Squire was surprised at seeing what his magic could do, having never used it before now. He wasn't about to ask the General (Labyrinthite) just what if felt like though. When the General teleported away to the stairs he moved so he was closer to the fight between Venice, Chaldene, and the Lieutenant (Tourmaline) but not close enough so that they would get caught in his magic, rather close enough that he could try and pull an extraction soon as he turned his magic off. He could feel something happening on the floor above with someones power spiking then blinking out. He had no quick way to find out however as he wasn't about to leave the other two with even less backup. Before he could do either the extraction or turn off his magic then General was back with a leap and a swing of his weapon. Erebus was quick to bring his oar up to block the scythe but almost got his own weapon flung out of his hands thanks to it. He let out a hiss under his breath as his arm reminded him of the slash thanks to the General Queen's charkram earlier. "We might want to try and get back up to the main fight." He called out to Venice and Chaldene.

He was glad he could keep the older, larger, Lieutenant safe from the scales even though he could not keep others so safe.A reminder to his own limitations, to the limitations of them all. He was glad however when the other man came to his side, as he'd asked him to.
Tilting his head he looked up at the other, a somewhat youthful and innocent look to him though something darker deep in his eyes. "Most...not likely. It depends. Not all youma are easy to work with, or even able to be worked with. Like animals..some are feral." Which he assumed the other understood the meaning of. "If any great youma have woken or were already awake...if they become interested I don't know who could handle one. They are large and powerful youma. I would not be able to protect either of us from one, aside from evading attacks. They take group efforts to handle." And his eyes roved about the hall. "Something we lack right now." With a general Queen dead, many injured and countless others dead how could they mount a coordinated attack, of even defense, if something like a great youma were to turn up.
"Most youma should listen to me though, due to rank. It's why I want you at my side, I can better keep you safe." At least it was one of their officers who was safe, was mostly uninjured, and could fight if need be. :At least this might all scare some of the senshi and knights away. Or they'll just leave figuring they did enough." He said shifting moods rather quickly as he flashed the other a smile at his words. He could hope - right? Some he knew would stay...some would flee, he hoped most would flee.
"Though...I do wonder how they got here...." He said this in a now sing song voice, one boot tapping on the floor. "It is rather curious..." Trailing off he let out a breath, long and drawn out. "Either way it means we all are going to have a lot of paperwork and perhaps questions to answer personally, on what happened and if we somehow allowed them in." He was not looking forward to it - not in the slightest bit.
"Either way that's all beside the point right now. Right now we'd best keep on our toes and focused on whatever it going to happen next...the show isn't over just yet." Bending down, still where the General Queen had fallen, he scooped up the splintered dull starseed and tucked it into a pocket of his. He wasn't sure what he would do with it but he wasn't going to leave it here either.

Lt. HuntiteHuntite looked at the smaller man and nodded, understanding what he meant about the youma though he had no personal experience with them. "Would we be able to feel if the Greater Youma were approaching, Sir?" He asked as his eyes darted back around in case of an attack. To him the hoard felt the same but that might be because of them all being grouped together for all he knew. A part of him grumbled at the reminder of how he wasn't strong enough to protect himself while the other part was respectful that the General was willing to protect those under him in rank. He shoved the first part away for now and planned on using it later on to push his training. "Agreed, the faster they leave, the quicker it would be to settle the youma would it not?" He made a face at the thought of paper work, already knowing the pains of them thanks to his civilian job, but knew it would be worse for the General. "I suppose after this we will have to do a bit of recon to find out just how." He said then shifted so he could watch out behind Benitoite so they wouldn't be attacked from behind easily.

Valhalla of Jupiter
Valhalla stared in surprise when Apatite fell. He tried shielding his face from the tiny shards with his arm, but the scales had still cut through his skin, leaving the uncovered parts of his arms bloodier than they were before, and cuts across his face left blood trickling down.
He couldn’t feel the youma, but he could hear them. His breath caught in his throat, able to see the distress of those around him, even though the General Queen had been defeated. From the looks on their faces, they were far from winning.
When Ganymede turned to him and lifted her hand to his cheek, he quickly lifted his own hand to hold hers against his face for a few moments, before sliding her hand over enough to kiss her palm. He could see he the emotion in her eyes. He could see how the thought of what was coming next terrified her. There were tears down her face, and he was sure she already knew his answer.
“I love you, too. But you know I can’t,” he said softly, pulling her hand away from his mouth to hold, his other hand reaching to sink into her hair, and then pull her close to him. Valhalla glanced over to Gevaudan and gave him a small nod. He had a feeling he knew the other knight’s answer as well.
“We’ve made it this far. I’m not leaving you now,” he said, watching to make sure the youma that were appearing weren’t close enough to attack, yet. They couldn’t stay there too long. They had to at least help get those who were wanting to leave to get out.

Super Sailor Thrymr, Senshi of the Southern Lights
He felt in a daze. The Nega he had run into was glaring at him, her eyes full of fire, and Thrymr felt a swell of fear in his throat, his eyes wide as he took a step back, both hands raised in an effort to block whatever attack was bound to come towards him any second now.
But it never came. Instead, the shards of scales that exploded outwards made shouts and yells echo along the corridor, and Thrymr saw her - the Nega - stop, too suddenly to be normal. Her eyes slid out of focus, and then she had collapsed, Thrymr staggering backwards automatically to avoid being pinned beneath her collapsed form.
Something whistled through the air, cutting a thin, neat line across his cheek, but Thrymr hardly felt it, or the blood that began to trail down his pale face. He was staring instead at the lifeless body on the ground, and at the rest around him, the beating of his own heart painfully loud in his ears. Another cut, and then another, sliding across his bare arms, but he made no move to stop them.
He forced his gaze away, feeling as though everything was moving in slow motion. The scene around him was utter chaos, the general queen dead, and the Negaverse swarming, and Thrymr took a shaking step back, lips parted, but no sound coming out.
And he saw, across the room, through the haze of his own thoughts, a man in a black cloak.
Opposite in color, and in alliance, the scythe he wielded could have probably cut glass, but Thrymr did not have eyes for it, only the face itself, gazes oddly connected through the sea of still fighting figures, screams, and shouts.
A shiver ran through him; he did not know why.
And then the connection was gone, snapping abruptly away as the man turned, and Thrymr was backing away, desperate to leave, to get away from this all, to find the rest of his team and go home. He stumbled through the mayhem until he caught sight of a familiar head of blonde hair, and Thrymr lunged for him without preamble, bloodied arms wrapping around Aegir's waist from behind.
He said nothing at all, but trembled violently, clutching to him for dear life.

Sailor Remus, Senshi of Regolith
It was kind of like, Remus decided, as he staggered back away from the General Queen rather ungracefully, a water balloon filling and filling until it was about to burst. There was shrieking laughter, a terrible scream echoing throughout the corridor, and the sound of it sent his very nerves on edge, both of Remus's hands held up in a gesture of defense.
He had prepared, what he had thought, a witty response to the Lieutenant's nasty jibe towards him, but there was no chance to give it (which was a shame). Instead the General Queen in front of him was changing, twisting, dying, and things were being shot off in every direction, scales ricocheting against the walls, cutting and slicing in their wake.
Remus barely had time to duck before one of them caught his upper shoulder. Another hit his leg and made him stagger and gasp, pain reverberating up and down his thigh. Yet another followed the one on his shoulder and sliced a line over his upper arm, and Remus dived, trying to dodge any more incoming missiles.
"WHAT THE ********!" he yelped, half crawling along the ground. He was vaguely aware of a muffled voice yelling at him; Remus lifted his head, squinting through the haze.
"Yo, Shirley Temple, that you? You and Foxy still alive? That's not like any Legendary Pokemon I'veever gone after, holy s**t."

The Castle was almost entirely overrun with youma and Negaverse Agents; it was getting so crowded that it was hard to move, any direction but out. The waves of enemies made it not only foolish, but impossible to sink deeper into the castle; the only choice was to get out… You might not have killed Metallia, but you succeeded in striking a major blow— Apatite has fallen, and you should be proud of yourselves! …But you should also run very, very fast. Shouldn't be too much of a problem: you know the way out. Quote: The Castle is too dangerous for further exploration or attack; you need to exit or your life is forfeit! Thankfully, the path up to the portal is in plain sight… But you might not like what you see. You can make exit posts if you like, but please head to the Turning Tides ORP!

The power radiating off of Apatite dissipated and Alexandria felt like he could breathe again. Was she down? Oh Pleeeease let her be down...
His next problem was getting himself to move. He considered himself lucky he had managed to avoid drawing attention to himself. Funny, considering just how many people and youma were now running about. He pushed himself off the wall he'd taken to leaning against, sword once again back in his hand and he proceed to stagger back towards the portal. He'd worry about bandaging any injuries he had later, with any luck anyway. And he definitely had wounds to attend to... Aside from being starseeded, Alexandria felt like he'd been thrown down a flight of stairs.
Mental Note to self: Don't give General Sovereigns Magic induced headaches.

Erebus, Squire of SaturnWhen the youma started to swarm in greater numbers, Erebus let out a curse and stopped his magic while ducking away from the General (Labyrinthite) and dashing over to Venice and Chaldene. "Time to go, now!" He yelled as he tried to extract the two from the battle against the Lieutenant as quickly as he could. Once he thought the two could get away he grabbed Venice and started to pull him out, keeping his oar up in defense in case of attack. "Stick close!" [Erebus out!]

Sailor Cybele
She watched as the General-Queen fell under the attacks of so many. It wasn't a relief, necessarily, but it signaled something. Their ambush had worked- there were a lot of bodies, mostly in black, blood everywhere... it seemed almost surreal. She still didn't let herself feel.
There were more auras closing in. They'd dealt their blow, but they'd lost the element of surprise. Anyone who wasn't dead was getting out. To stay was suicide, and while Cybele might have taken a last, heroic stand in the right circumstances... there was no hope of taking the castle, and people were watching their own backs well enough. She back towards the portal, and sprinted to catch up with her teammates.

He had been looking for an escape from the Lieutenant who seriously seemed to want to fight him, when he could tell something was happening upstairs. They needed to leave, he was sure of it - that scream was a good indicator he felt. So when Erebus offered an exit he took it as the other grabbed him and yanked him toward the exit and up to the hall where there was a bloody mess of bodies and more. "Many dead..." He had never actually seen a dead person, much less so many or the amount of blood and carnage, that was on display in the hall. "Need to leave - now." He said nodding his head as he spotted Ganymede and others. "With them...safety with many." He said glancing behind himself to see Chaldene following. (Venice out.)

He was never as glad as he was now when the page jumped in to his defense. There was no way he could properly mount a defense against the Lieutenant, not with the pain he was in from that drop. Nope, he'd be feeling it for days...he really would have to tip toe around Xander and his sisters...maybe he could lock himself in his bedroom? They'd just figure he was busy on his computer...maybe? Ok, so he doubted he'd get that lucky but he could hope - right? He was being really hopeful as they knew he'd been at the meetings and likely figured him to be here, not to mention a certain blond would give him away as being involved in the fighting. He was screwed and he knew it, he was just trying to deny it till later really.
Shaking his head as he pulled himself slowly, gingerly, to his feet he headed after the squire and page. He was not going to continue this fight. Something big had happened and he was sure it wasn't anything good. They should get leave, a thought made even more obvious when he saw the carnage in the hall. "Well ********, someone decided to redecorate...it's not a good look...." He said, trying to make light of it in order to hide his own feelings at the moment. It was a lot to take in. Shaking his head he found Delphi on the ground and went to help her, despite his own screaming body. He wasn't leaving the squire here for the youma...and another General Queen? How many did they have?
Shaking his head he stood up, supporting most of her weight as he looked around for potential help even as he moved to follow others out of the castle and back toward the portal.(Chaldene and Delphi out.)

Though there remained a part of her that wanted Valhalla to be with her through this, Ganymede was also not happy that he refused to leave. She wanted him safe. With him there, she felt the overwhelming need to protect him. How could she do that when she knew her focus should be on fighting?
None of these people were beholden to her, but she felt an obligation to make sure that as many of them as possible got out of there alive, and if that meant sacrificing herself in the process, she would do it.
Five years ago, when she first became a Senshi, she never would have thought she had it in herself to do something like that.
The years had taught her much. She couldn't afford to be selfish now. She had to put the needs of others before her own.
She continued to cry when Valhalla refused to leave her, clutching at him when he pulled her close. There were youma appearing all around. Agents flooded the building. Soon the forces of Order would be pushed out. There would be no way to get to Metallia.
And there, in the distance, was the aura of another General King or Queen.
Instinct told Ganymede it would be Laurelite.
One thing was for certain, none of them could remain in the castle as the Negaverse's numbers continued to grow. The battle would not remain here.
Ganymede took Valhalla by the hand and, looking toward Gevaudan, began to make her way out of the castle with one, last desperate look toward the stairs that led down to Metallia.
