Hikari nodded. "Yes." As they were walking, she thought about what Yuu and Tsu were talking about with Tessa. Now Hikari liked Tessa, and used to spend hours after training to improve her fighting skills. Sure, Hikari was still really clumsy and was definitely no match for someone like Tsu or Yuu, but she would have been a lot worse off if not for Tessa-sensei. "Tsu-kun, did they say if anything happened to Tessa-sensei? Is she all right? Do you think it would be possible for us to visit with her? Yuu-san, did you hear anything more?" Her worry about her former teacher was overcoming her fear of meeting Kurotsuchi.

She sighed and stared ahead at Nemu. Now, Nemu, Hikari wasn't afraid of, but maybe cautious and wary of. She was the daughter of the 12 Division captain after all. Hikari didn't know how to react to her. She seemed like a gentle person, but from some of the things she'd heard about, how Nemu was treated by Mayuri made Hikari wonder just why she stayed by his side.

Shaking her head, Hikari turned back to Tsu and Yuu and waited for either of them to answer her as they approached Mayuri's room. Suddenly, Hikari realized where they were and she inched over, eventually clinging to Tsu's arm without a word.

Tsurabisu didn't say anything when Hikari took ahold of his arm. He knew she needed the comfort. She had to be scared out of her mind. Tsu knew how Kurotsuchi could get. And wasn't that the entire reason he was here? Well... Not the entire reason. He'd be there with Hikari no matter who she was going to see.
Tsu looked over at Yuu. "Actually, I heard from Renji that she used to be in his squad. I can't remember what seat, but it was either third or fourth. After I'm finished with classes today, the Ol' Man gave me permission to visit her. I don't think it'd be a problem if you guys came with.

Nemu entered through a set of doors, knowing that the three were following her. "Master, they've arrived."
Mayuri Kurotsuchi stood and glanced at his subject and visitors. Tsurabisu he'd been expecting. But not squad thirteen's Lieutenant. Oh well. It didn't matter.
"It's about time! Now, before we begin, I believe you had some information for me, Tsurabisu."

Tsu nodded. "Of course I do. But what good would it be to tell you before all this?"

"No deal. I take my payments up front."

"C'mon, Captain. It's not every day you get to study a new Bankai..." It was a gamble, but Tsu knew it would pay off.

"Bankai, you say? What nonsense in this? My records show that you're a long way from attaining your Bankai." This had to be a ploy. But what if it wasn't? If he had reached Bankai so fast, it would be interesting to study it. How much control over it could that man possibly have? "Very well. You," The Captain pointed to Hikari. "On the examination table. Let's get started."

"Really? I could go along? Thank you, Tsu-kun!" She followed Nemu along with the others until they reached Mayuri's lab, and when he he addressed her, she managed a meek, "Y-yes, Sir..." After she had done as he bade her, she dared to ask him a question. "I-if you don't mind me asking, what is it that you intend to do, Kurotsuchi-taicho?" She found it hard to look at him. Honestly, his appearance even frightened her. His very being seemed to radiate the phrase "mad scientist" and almost give it an entirely new definition. Instead, she focussed her gaze on Tsu and Yuu, trying to ignore the fact that someone she feared more than the devil was hovering right above her.

The Captain ignored the girl's inquiry and proceeded to wheel over a machine trailing dozens of cables. He picked up several of them and eyed the ends critically. The ends that ended in what looked like suction cups, Kurotsuchi attached to Hikari's temples and her forehead.
Seeing how uncomfortable the squad four's Lieutenant was, Namu offered an explanation. "The Master is going to use the probes to link your two minds, and then view your soul space."

The eccentric Captain gave his Lieutenant an annoyed glance. "Oh, shut up. I was just getting to that." There was silence once more while Mayuri continued to hook up the machine, inserting several other probes directly into his head. "Now, I want you to concentrate and enter your soul space. Once you're there, I'll be able to moniter from here."

N-no... I don't want this... Hikari fought against those thoughts and nodded at the captain. "Okay." She closed her eyes and entered into her Soul Plain. As soon as she entered it, however, a bunch of vines full of hooks and thorns rose up around her she was gone from sight.

Yuu shrugged at Hikari at the question of hearing anything else about Tessai since over the years he had heard a few things here and there. "I have heard quite a few rumors. I know she used to be a part of Division Six as the Third seat because of Renji-fukutaicho but beyond that only rumors. I do know she is rumored to be quite capable. Then again I don't know personally. Going to visit her? Maybe. I suppose just as long as I have time to see Ukitake-taicho first it would be alright." As they entered the room with Mayuri Yuu fell silent and began watching the man quite closely. Hearing Mayuri however Yuu looked over at Tsu and in a quiet voice spoke up. "Your going to let him experiment on your Bankai Tsu-san? Is that really wise?" After the question was asked Yuu remained silent so Mayuri could do what he was going to do and get things over with.

Sora smiled back at Datto before laughing. "M'kay then. Keep an eye out for anyone who screams then." she said before taking a deep breath. With ease, she released some of her reiatsu. She did so for a few moments before stopping and sighing. "Nothing." she said sadly as she looked down at her feet.

Datto was also sad until he heard a yelp from the crowd of students. He pushed his way through and there in the center of the group was a girl with a hole burned through her pocket and a slight burn mark running down a leg that she was nursing. Datto spotted the ruby radiating heat a couple of feet away from her.
"Where did you get that stone?" Datto asked sternly, but with a soft undertone because he could see she was in pain.
"I found it over there in the sparring area."Datto looked at where she was pointing and saw the place where he and Sora-chan had been sparring, "I thought it looked pretty and thought it would make and nice piece of jewelry, but I can tell I was wrong." She looked at the stone with a reproachful glare. Datto called over Sora and had the girl retell her what happened. He then pointed to where the stone lay for her to retrieve it, since the last time he touched it he got burned.

Sora followed after Datto and smiled when she saw the gem. Quickly, she picked it up and brushed it off. She then looked to the girl and gave a glare. "That's what you get." Sora said, referring to the girl getting burned. "You're lucky I didn't release more reiatsu, if I did it would have left a permanent mark." she added with a smug smirk. She then turned to Datto and smiled. "We have an hour to waste, where do you wanna go?" she asked as she held the gem tightly in her hand.

Datto was unsure of how Sora-chan handled the recovery of her gem, "I know she took it, but it wasn't as if she purposely meant to upset you. And besides she was already punished when the ruby burned her, you didn't need to be so harsh on her."
He knew the girl deserved to be reprimanded, but he believed the stone did an adequate job of that itself. After letting it set for a moment he had an idea, "How about we go and take a quick nap out in the field just outside the Soul Reaper Academy?"

Sora shrugged her shoulders before nodding her head and smiling at Datto. "Sounds like a good idea. Just don't snore." she teased with a playful wink before quickly turning on her heel and heading to the exit of the Academy to get to the forest. "Hurry~" Sora said over her shoulder to Datto as she moved further ahead until she was outside the academy.

Namu wheeled a portable terminal over to her Captain and hooked it up to the machine that he was currently connected to. As soon as it was operational, the Captain began furiously typing in commands. Soon, there was a chime and the Captain's eyes slowly closed. Soon, it seemed as if he was asleep.

Inside Hikari's Soul Space, a vision of Kurotsuchi appeared and glanced around. "Remarkable... So, it's true. She really can bring others into this realm..." The Captain took a few steps, intending on exploring his new souroundings.

Tsu sat silently for a few moments, watching the twelfth squad's Captain closely. So far, it didn't seem like anything had gone wrong so far. After what must have seemed like a while, Tsu turned to Yuu. "Well, it's either that, or have him experiment on Hikari. At least this way, she'll be safe."

Datto chased after Sora until they reached a shady tree. When Datto got there, after Sora, he laid down next to her and rested his head on her shoulder. Then he let out a sigh and slowly drifted into sleep.

"Just who the hell are you?!" Demanded a voice. "I don't remember inviting you here." A patch of thorns burst up in flames, revealing a girl identical to Hikari, except for her attire. She wore a black leather bustier and skirt, with long black leather boots. Her hair was twisted back into twin braids with the ribbons running through her hair. And in her grip, she held a paper fan. She swung down with the paper fan, hitting the captain squarely in the face, yelling, "Get outta here, Jackass!"

"Eeeek!" Hikari cried out, sitting up on Kurotsuchi's table.

Keikoku attempted to reach out to the other zanpakuto in the room. "I don't think this is a good idea," she called out warningly. "Hikari herself isn't aware of this consciously, but she is attempting to open her soul space up to someone whom she doesn't trust. If she continues to attempt this, I can't guarantee the safety of those involved. Her deeper self and the persona that you see are in conflict with one another, and that means danger for any outsiders. In order for Hikari to truly relax and accept the captain, perhaps it might be best for someone to accompany the captain; someone whom she does trust."

Hikari blinked, unaware that Keikoku was speaking to the other zanpakuto. "Well, I promise to try harder, Kurotsuchi-taicho. Should we try again?"

"What are you doing out? Get back in the sword!" Mayuri pointed to the katana hanging from his obi in front of him.

"What the...?" Tsu started to move in front of Hikari, to block what ever it was from her, but stopped when he realized what it was. "Ashisogi Jizo...? I'd heard that the Captains' Zanpakuto could materialize like that, but I've never seen it..."

"You haven't been studying your history, Tsurabisu. Remember, there was an incident over fifty years ago where the higher level Zanpakuto rebelled. The Captains and Lieutenants had this happen to them. As well as a few others. Some of the Zanpakuto still tend to materialize once in a while. But why are you out?" He directed his question to the creature before them. It squeaked and chirped a few more times as it turned to look at its master.

Actually, it's kinda cute. She allowed herself a quick smile at the spirit. But then it fell and she became serious again. "Tsu-kun, Yuu-san... Um... are you sure that you want to do that?" It was more like she was really asking Am I sure that I can let you guys see me this way? She crossed her fingers behind her back. "Besides, isn't it dangerous in there?"

"Hey, I've already been in there. I think I'd be able to handle it." Tsu gave Hikari a reassuring smile. Besides, I've come this far already, right? I told you I'd do what ever it took to help."

A look of boredom was plastered across Mayuri's face as the fourth seat babbled on and on about helping the Lieutenant. "We're wasting time! We need to get started. It looks like the two of you have made up your minds. The Captain turned to Yuu. "You'll have to leave. There simply isn't going to be room for a Lieutenant to sit here a gawk at the procedure!"

"Master," Namu spoke up for the first time in a while. "What about the package for squad thirteen's Captain? Is it ready?"

"Of course it is! Who do you think I am? You know where it should be. Give it to him," A wave in Yuu's general direction indicated that the Lieutenant should take it and leave. "Now, back to more pressing matters... And you! Back in the sword, or I'll blow you up!" With a final chirp, the materialized Zanpakuto vanished.

With a bow, Namu Kurotsuchi lead Yuu from the room and disappeared into a room, only to re-apper with a small package. "This is for Captain Ukitake. It should help him feel better for a while. Once he's back on his feet, he is to come here for testing."

"Just please be careful, Tsu-kun." She regarded her friend for a moment before turning to Yuu. Hikari bowed in apology at the other Lieutenant. "I'm really sorry, Yuu-san. I promise to catch up with you later to visit Ukitake-taicho, all right? Then we can all visit Tessa-sensei. Thank you so much for taking me here, and sorry for troubling you with the task. I promise I'll do my best to get better and not let you down." She smiled at him, meaning to keep every bit of that promise.

Her smile dropped as she turned to face the captain. "Please, tell me what to do."

"Start again. This time, pull Tsurabisu in with you." Kurotsuchi watched the two, waiting for them to enter her soul space so he could.
"Don't worry about me. I've been there before. Remember?" Tsu sat down next to Hikari and closed his eyes, waiting for her to do whatever it was she did.

"Don't worry about me. I've been there before. Remember?" Tsu sat down next to Hikari and closed his eyes, waiting for her to do whatever it was she did.

"U-um... right..." Hikari closed her eyes and lay back. Gravity felt like it was shifting and she knew that she was there. She felt Tsurabisu there beside her for an instant before he disappeared and they were seperated yet again. "Tsu-kun!" But all she could see was a wall of deadly thorns. Where am I and where did he go? I want to see him! It's not fair; this is my world! Why can't I control anything?!

-----------

As soon as she saw Tsurabisu and Hoshokusha, Keikoku relaxed somewhat. "Oh, I'm really relieved to see you both. With how chaotic it's gotten in here, I was beginning to think that she'd reject even you."

"And what makes you think I still won't?" The dark Hikari glared down at the three.

"Simple. Because I'm here to protect what you truly wish for. You can only lie to yourself for so long before things become distorted in both here and reality. I'm here to protect them, and you wouldn't be able to push him away even if I wasn't there."

"Oh? And why would that be?" Hikari folded her arms and sneered down at her zanpakuto spirit.

"You're in love with him," Keikoku answered simply.

"Wh-wh-what... did... you... say...!?" Her face turned red and her eyes flashed dangerously. "That's a load of crap! I'll prove it to you!" She took out her fan and sent it crashing down on Tsurabisu... with no effect. Her eyes widened for a moment in surprise, then narrowed again. "Oh, I see. I'm going to have to use a more appropriate method." She pulled out a black thorny vine whip and tried striking Tsurabisu with it, but to no avail, because Keikoku had easily stepped in between them. She staggered back. "...So that's how it is... Fine, if I can't kick you out of here, I have plenty more ways of making you leave then, don't I?" She cast him another dirty look before spinning on her heels and jumping above a wall of thorns. "Explore to your heart's content, Tsu-kun. But remember, this is my world, and the further you go, the more dangerous it becomes. If I can't kick you out, I'll just have to kill you. Good luck." She disappeared behind the wall.

Keikoku bit her lip nervously. "It's going to be difficult, Tsurabisu, and what she says is true. We aren't going to be safe until we find where that Hikari has imprisoned our Hikari. It's going to become harder for me to protect you, so please, Hoshokusha, don't let your guard down. Hikari would never forgive herself if something happened to Tsurabisu inside here." She stared across the thorny wastelands and shook her head sadly. "It was so beautiful here before too... my home... but I should have known. This place has always existed. To think that Hikari hid it from even me... from even herself. Everyone..." Keikoku trailed off and was silent while they waited for Kurotsuchi.

Tsu stood for a second in complete confusion. First about how different everything had become. Then Hikari, or Hikari‘s double attacking him… He honestly had no idea what was going on. He turned to the azure skinned woman next to him but she only gave a shrug. Obviously, Hoshokusha had no idea what was going on either. Once the other version of Hikari was out of sight, Tsu turned to Keikoku. “Okay. What’s going on? What’s all this about, and why did she attack me?”

The Captain watched quietly at everything that had transpired. For now, he stayed as an observer, monitoring everything as it happened. “Very interesting…”
