[Lieutenant Ransomite]

"Hm?" It took a moment for her words to process. "Oh, uh... I should be fine. Nothing's broken. I'm just not used to this amount of activity, you know?" A snort. "I know very close to nothing about roughing it." Zebulon was the only one of the four of them with any significant camping experience. "I can tie a mean knot, probably. Keep our things from flying off, but that's it.

Corrupt Sailor Albite Senshi of Retribution
Settin' Tent - Fetchin Team

The second he'd heard through that the teams were coming down he'd followed the others off to the cute pack youma. Started in on setting up tents around for others, wherever he could offer help before waving off and giving the most attention to his own lodgings. He wanted himself and his team comfortable - whoever he could fit into the four person tent - and he'd find a way to make room for more if necessary.

Getting it up at least was an easy enough thing to accomplish. Poles in holes, stakes in the ground, a good way to work off excess energy - the anxiety of not knowing who was where yet, or how bad the others'd had it - He zipped two pairs of sleeping bags together - one went across the bottom of the tent floor for padding, because the ground was s**t for sleeping on. He could feel every little pebble and dip, which really wouldn't do, so he added the extra padding himself. The other zipped together pair went over like a top cover quilt. It was temperate enough, they could sleep on top of all of it if needed, dog piles and close quarters. Better to be comfortable and packed in as a group then outside and alone. No need to shove each person into a sleeping bag when there was no real weather to protect against; better even to be able to get up without struggling out of a little bedroll cocoon.

The lack of a fire was sad - Albite left the lowly little kerosene lantern set just outside the entrance, leaned his pack up against the tent door flap to hold it open. It made it easier to pretend that it was an actual camping trip, instead of something dire; while he dusted himself off and got looking.

Nembus was the easiest to spot - even with her waterfall length hair cut into a short little pond, he'd know that outfit anywhere. He coulda crowed, felt all sorts of pride at seeing her chatting it up with some blond. Making friends. Alive. Ruffled looking, but alive.

So glad was he to see her that he didn't announce himself, didn't wait a moment longer, simply stalked up on the pair without a second thought and snatched Nembus and her blond friend into a hug - was half tempted to toss her over his shoulder and drag her back to camp with him in tow even. "Bossette! You're good? You're okay - is he good? Are you good man?" questions rapid fire, worry and joy comingled; reflected in the grin on his face.

He wanted to know what'd happened, where Faustite was - the whole spiel. Most importantly? He wanted them all fed and tucked away safely. All sorts of ******** certain about what tomorrow was going to look like without having any of the details.

Lieutenant Carnallite

Carnallite wasn’t an idiot. She knew about Bloodstone’s weird little fascination with his personal assistant. A personal assistant he didn’t even need. A personal assistant he’d lured into the Negaverse so that he could do even more personal assisting — in a slightly more useful capacity this time, she had to admit, but it wasn’t as if Bloodstone was important enough within the organization to warrant such things, which made it all seem very pathetic.

Bloodstone didn’t have to say anything. Carnallite knew he was relieved, in his own way. His face was slightly less pinched, his perpetually grim expression a little less tense around the edges since their mission was called to a temporary halt.

“I’m shocked your house boy made it,” she said, glancing over the supplies made available to them at the makeshift canteen. “I thought for sure he’d end up dead or missing. I suppose there’s plenty of time left for that. He must have gotten lucky, but it won’t last, and you’ll be forced to deal with the paperwork on your own again.”

Of course, that meant she would, too, but Carnallite wasn’t quite as allergic to paperwork as Bloodstone pretended to be. She just took advantage of a convenience while it was available to her.

Lieutenant Roselite

At camp as in the castle, Roselite did what he could to make himself useful. His efforts had him dashing all over the place, pitching tents for those who couldn’t seem to figure them out, checking on the medical tent to make sure they had enough supplies, stopping by the canteen to ensure the same, and pausing here and there to check on those who seemed most weary.

Roselite was anxious, but he was pleased with himself, too — a combination that had his energy soaring instead of plummeting. The inevitable crash would be sudden, and the resulting sleep would be deep, but for now he took advantage of his active state by getting as much done as possible.

During a pause for breath, Roselite swept his gaze around the area. He should check on Kamacite, who was injured, and he should see if General Faustite might need anything. Roselite could put some tea together for him, and some fresh coffee for Captain Bloodstone, and—

Roselite noticed another General (Benitoite) looking around, studying people, watching some of the others who were putting tents together, with the result that he was lagging behind a bit with his own tent.

“Sir...” Roselite said, making his shy approach. Even the strange good spirits he was in could not settle his nerves enough that speaking to other people came easily to him. “Um… Sorry, I… Do you need help with your tent, Sir?”

General Benitoite

He really wasn't surprised someone had noticed his issue, there was almost no way to hide what he was doing, but he did startle a bit when someone called for his attention. Grayish blue eyes turned onto the person and held there, staring for several long moments. Finally he did nod his head. "You can call me Benitoite, and help would be most appreciated. I am, sadly, not well aquainted with tents nor camping."

Nor would he ever get familiar with camping or tent building, he was not interested in camping for reasons only those familiar with him would know. He secretly dreaded the day anyone in the Negaverse, aside from Mason, found out about his fear of spiders.

"What should I call you Lieutenant?" This was an officer he didn't know, and should get to know without a doubt.

Lieutenant Roselite

“I usually go by Roselite, Sir.”

Usually, because his name was easy to shorten and Captain Bloodstone already called him by a nickname; Roselite wouldn’t be opposed to others doing the same.

He stepped closer to assist, taking over where Benitoite left off. At this point, he had no need for instructions and could put the tent together from memory.

“To be honest, I… I’m not much for camping either,” he admitted.

For obvious reasons, Roselite thought. He barely made it through life as it was; regularly roughing it would no doubt bring him even greater misfortune. What skills he could boast were best suited for office life — making coffee (or tea, as the case may be), running errands, copying, filing, writing reports. He was physically weak and couldn’t exactly hide it, being so thin and mousy.

“But… when this mission came up and it seemed like there might be camping involved, I… I spent some time practicing,” he continued, doing his best to promote conversation, even if he wasn’t good at it. Roselite swallowed, lowered his voice to a near whisper and said, “I didn’t want to look like an idiot.”

He stopped as soon as the words were out, eyes widening in horror. “Not that… Sir, I didn’t mean… I’m not saying that you looked like… I mean…” Mortification drained the color from his face. “You’re a General, so… you usually have more important things to do than set up tents, so I… I thought I should make myself useful like this, and learn since… as a Lieutenant, it’s my job to assist…”

Naturally, he spent all that time learning how to put a tent together so he wouldn’t look like an idiot, and he made himself look like an idiot simply by speaking.

General Benitoite

"At least I'm in good company then, someone else who is clueless about camping." Though he was certain others here had never been camping, for various reasons. He did hope however to make Roselite feel better, he seemed a bit shy and perhaps uncertain of himself? He wasn't certain but the other seemed just...soft spoken and overly polite, not things he was used to amongst his fellow officers.

"Ah, something I should have done myself. I hadn't thought about it though." Nodding his head he smiled at the blond. "A very good idea though, and thinking a head to a skill you might need - and learning said skill." He would, if he could, praise the other for now in the hopes of helping him. He seemed like the sort who might need it. Not to mention it was good that the other had thought tent building might be a needed skill and he'd learned it, he wasn't lying.

Laughing he shook his head and set a gloved hand on the others shoulder. "You don't need to worry so much. I don't think you were calling me an idiot and if you were I'd hope I'd have earned it, and I'm sure if someone like you called me one I'd have earned it." Oh yes, this one needed a confidence boost. He was worried he might have offended him....oh dear.

"You're job is not just to assist but to learn and grow, something even Generals still do. And outside of this uniform - I'm a normal twenty something year old male. I have a normal job, I am going back to college...again. I have a normal life - nothing special. You'd likely not notice me if we crossed paths." Shrugging his shoulders a bit.

"You should calm down. I won't bite your head off, trust me. I'm not some big bad wolf."

11]Super Corrupt Miyamoto

Oh great, tent building. Something he'd never done, at least as far as he could remember. He didn't remember a bit of his life before corrupting, at least not his civilian life, and that was what motivated him constantly to serve the Negaverse...to fight the senshi and knights and to help advance the Negaverse's cause. But nothing had said anything about tent building - ******** this.

As he tried to get the tent pitched he silently cursed the damn thing to whatever part of hell it had come from. He did, after some fumbling and a few curses, get the tent pitched but he was not pleased with it. It wasn't that it looked off, it looked just fine, but rather he was not pleased with how long it took or how long it had taken him to put it together.

"Cursed damn thing." Frost gathering about his feet and the air about him chilled. He was not pleased with tent pitching. He never would have made a good boy scout, but he also didn't look like boy scout material anyway. Reaching up to rub at one of his elfish ears he shook his head. Damn tents...damn camping here.

He'd focus this anger later...he'd find some knight or senshi and wreck them...then he'd go home and draw or sleep.

[Super Sailor Nembus]

Should be fine, he said, which didn't sound certain, but then again, perhaps Nembus was the only person who was so intensely uncertain about everything. She decided to take him at his word and let it go--high activity strain or something, right--and returned his comment with a wry, "The higher up you get in the Negaverse, the more activity you'll get used to. Unless," she paused, "are you an Infiltration officer?"

She didn't know why that interested her, really. She wasn't in Infiltration anymore. Being under General Faustite implied she was an Information officer now, and honestly, it was probably a better fit for her anyway--

Nembus' lips quirked at his knowledge of tying knots. "Well, more than me--"

She didn't get a chance to say anything further before she found herself quite handily hauled quite nearly off the ground by her taller and much broader underling of a sort. Bossette. Metallia, she was never going to get used to that. When would Albite level up so she didn't have to deal with having underlings anymore? Faustite didn't seem inclined to have that many people on his team, so in theory if Albite leveled up, she wouldn't have to worry about it anymore--

"Uh. Okay as I can be, I guess," which wasn't to say great, but she was at the very least not down a hole or youma food. "Our area was full of youma. A general--not ours--pulled out a starseed. I think you can figure out the rest..."

She glanced toward Ransomite.

Hopefully, he didn't mind being hugged randomly by strange muscular men.

"Ah, Ransomite, meet Albite. Albite, this is Ransomite."

General Faustite

"General pulled a starseed," he answered, frowning. "Part of the team got separated." He didn't know how many, either; Taenite dragged him out before he got himself killed while killing the other General. Faustite still wasn't sure if that was for the best. He released Kamacite in case thinking about it burnt a hole in the cincher and therefore his friend.

Heard Cymophane, looked in the Corrupt's direction. Kept looking while he spoke to Kamacite. "Go ahead, Should get us a fire, anyway." Now wasn't a good time to mention the plan, not with Cymophane doting over Kamacite. Maybe he'd go on his own.

Took a glance about for where the canteen got situated. Spotted Albite, finally, hugging Nembus and that other Lieutenant he saw her with before. It was then that he realized how strange a hug in the Rift looked.

Faustite walked from Kamacite toward Lavendulan, who fussed with the cooking supplies. Faustite hadn't camped before, so it took asking others and Google searching to compile a list of necessities. Cans of Sterno made it in, too, and matches in case he didn't survive until nightfall. He wasn't sure he wanted to, not after what he'd witnessed on their own team. But there was no reconciling that now; only more to do, more to keep him occupied until it was time to leave again in the 'morning'.

"Captain." He looked at her, fishy thing, all deep blue scales and fins and horns. Most half youma looked elegant to him — this one, Amazonite. Like the fusion of youma and person was intentional.

"Most of it's canned, but," he grabbed a can of Sterno, peeled the lid off. Opening the latch on his stomach, he held the can close enough to catch. He set it on the camp kitchen afterward, out of the way. "Should be seasoning in those bags."

Lt Thorite

Thorite separated from everyone on the tracking team as soon as the entire team converged together, looking for a good spot to set up his tent. Roughing it wouldn't be so bad out here; at least he even had a tent. Most of the time he'd lived on the streets, he hadn't had access to one. He'd never really gone to any of the homeless encampments or anything, preferring by and large to just stay away from people. He'd probably have to go back and meet up with them again, though. Likely with Lionel, Haymitch, and Chalcanthite, since that's who he'd been with the most, but he wasn't sure. Maybe Ilse, too, since she still had his shoes. But he'd worry about that after he had some time to breathe.

Then he spotted Albite, hugging a couple of people and having a conversation with them, and before he could even think another thought, he'd rushed up and flung his arms around Albite, kissing him excitedly.

"I'm so glad you're alive!" he said loudly, blushing furiously as he realized what he'd just done, then burying his face in Albite's neck.

General Jet

Jet was busy helping to set up camp. There were a number of officers that didn’t seem to know how to set up tents, which was fine because he didn’t either… until he and Aquamarine went into the Rift for that hellish week when he found and formed a bond with Arles. He would never say he was comfortable in the Rift, but he knew they were safer in numbers.

He cast a glance in Aquamarine’s direction, who seemed like he was in a pretty irritable mood. Not that Jet blamed him, but they had more important things to think about. Like the youma they were hunting, and checking who was accounted for and who was missing.

Their numbers had dwindled. Most noticeable was from Faustite’s team where he heard there had been complications, but did not yet know the full details. There would be plenty of time for that.

“I’m having Arles scout the perimeter,” he explained to Aquamarine when he came to a stop beside him. He held out a piece of jerky that he’d pulled from the bags that had been packed for them, along with a bottle of water. “Looks like there weren’t too many casualties at least.” Not yet, anyway.

Corrupt Sailor Taenite

“Need help?” Taenite offered with a grin as he approached a frosty looking senshi who seemed to be having some trouble with the camping equipment. “Taenite, at your service,” he said with a dramatic sweep of his arm to imitate a bow.

“You’d think they’d put all Negaverse agents through a bootcamp. But maybe that’s just a waste of resources if they’re just going to let us sacrifice ourselves to the Rift,” he shrugged and without bothering to wait for a reply he dug through the heap of what was the other senshi’s pile of tent.

“What do you think so far? You’ve been down here this whole time, haven’t you? Probably better than having to climb those cliffs, up or down,” he let out a sigh, and then picked up the poles that stuck into the edges of the tent. “Here, these are for the frame.”

Corrupt Eternal Kamacite

It felt like a typical interaction between himself and Faustite at this point, whether due to their own inability to communicate, or misunderstanding, or misdirected rage, or distractions from others. Kamacite had barely opened his mouth to try and get more information from Faustite-- when Faustite pulled away to wander off.

He stood there as he watched after his friend go to start a fire or whatever it was he was going to do, and… didn’t know what to do with himself at that point.

Kamacite realized that his mouth was open and he quickly shut it. He knew he should have his arm looked at, or at least someone to help him get it wrapped. Maybe. But Cymophane needed to help Reidite before he hurt himself.

So he continued to stand there for a moment longer, and then slowly lowered himself back to the ground.

Lieutenant Reidite

Reidite shrugged when Cymophane told him he could take a break, and stopped what he was doing so he could take a break. He needed to have the quills pulls out of his shoulder anyway, and if Cymophane was going to offer, then of course he would listen.

“In Russia we would kill bear and sleep inside its carcass while still warm,” he said loudly, a bit irritably. Because he was still not convinced that everyone in the Negaverse either thought he was absolutely serious or decided to ignore him. He had to amuse himself somehow, and this was the best way he could think of. Especially when he was getting annoyed by how many people didn’t know how to put ‘pole A into slot B’ as shown in the very detailed instruction book that came with each tent. How was it so hard? It wasn’t as though they were trying to create a shelter out of nothing!

“You’re lucky you didn’t get hurt more than you did,” he frowned down at Cymophane as he approached closer, no longer bothering with the accent when he was close enough for only Cymophane to hear him. “This was just an accident. The damn thing that hit me was too enthusiastic, I think,” he grumbled, taking a look at his arm and trying to decide how he wanted to deal with the quills. Take off the jacket? Leave on the jacket? He would let Cymophane figure that out.

Lieutenant Roselite

Roselite managed a timid smile.

He knew there were mean, vicious people in the Negaverse; the work they did had a way of attracting those types. He even understood, to an extent, the need for those sorts of people. The Earth was under attack and must be defended, and sometimes only those with questionable morality were fit to do what needed to be done.

But, somehow, either by luck or because those sorts of people made up less of their forces than he assumed, he ended up meeting so many kind officers.

Kind in their own way, at least. He was sure Captain Bloodstone was not always so accommodating, and General Faustite struck him as the type who would do what was necessary. Perhaps General Benitoite was, too, when he wasn’t reassuring nervous Lieutenants.

“Thank you, Sir,” Roselite said. “I… I’ve been doing what I can. I know I’m not like—” Kamacite, who had useful magic and the respect of his colleagues, or Carnallite, who knew how to handle herself in a fight even without an extra boost of power. “—other agents, but… I like to think there’s a need for people like me.”

Not the timid part of him, but the earnest one, the one that wanted to learn, and grow, and offer whatever he had, however small, to their cause.

Small things had to add up, in time.

Roselite finished constructing the tent with practiced ease, standing back to look over his handiwork.

“That should do it,” he said, offering Benitoite another small smile. “Is there anything else I can help you with, Sir?”

Corrupt Cymophane

Normally, Cymophane would Google “how to remove porcupine quills,” but he didn’t know if this youma version functioned the same way, and he also didn’t have access to Google.

A shame, really.

“You think maybe you should go to the medical tent?” Cymophane asked, studying Reidite’s shoulder. “I can yank them out, but what if I do more damage? Besides, you’re more comfortable with people than Kamacite is, and someone needs to look over his shoulder.”

And that someone would, of course, be Cymophane.

Because Kamacite was back to sitting on his own.

Cymophane sighed heavily.

“Kamacite!” he called over to his friend. Again. Because his friend was alone. Again. “Come here! You said you didn’t mind me looking at your shoulder! You shouldn’t just leave it, unless you want it to get infected.”

No one wanted that.

To Reidite, he added, “How is it you both managed to get a shoulder injured? I suppose it’s better than your face. Your agent would freak. Be more careful next time, yeah?”
