Vincent's eyes widened slightly, taking on a sparkle of awe. "It sounds like a fairy tale," he said with a warm smile, tilting his head a bit. "What sort of magicks do your people use? Where I come from, the only magic performed is by gypsies in tents and caravans, at Il Carnivale.." Fiore really did sound like something of a fantasy. The girl's outlandish appearance, albeit beautiful, also lent to his impression of a fantastical land filled with beasts and magic.. perhaps even knights and dark sorcerers. Resting his elbow on the table, he propped his chin up as his sapphire eyes held the girl's ruby gaze in his own, innately curious. No one he knew had eyes like that... but he had to admit, they were stunning.

Levy couldn't deny that Vincent was a real heartthrob. The girls would be all over him a few years, if they weren't already. Yet, she was no longer as enraptured by his charm. That being said, she was still very interested in the young duke. Perhaps this was the start of a friendship?

She was pleased to see that the boy was truly interested in her homeland. "That's one point for him." The teen thought to herself, with an inward smile. Though Levy was not ignorant of cultures in other countries, she was a bit surprised that he had never experienced true magic before. "Well..." She started, looking into his sapphire eyes and getting lost momentarily in their gaze. "There are three types of magic in Fiore. Caster Magic, Holder Magic, and Ancient Spells. The more widely used magic is Caster and Holder. Caster magic is expelled through the body, as opposed to Holder magic where the magic is concentrated through a weapon or object of some sort." Levy took care not to mention more about Ancient Spells, for they were a little harder to explain, and not widely as accepted.

Levy was curious herself as to what kind of magic these gypsies performed. She had only read about them in stories and history books, and from what she gathered, they were real phonies. "What about your gypsies? And your homeland? Tell me about them." The princess enjoyed stories, especially those about faraway lands. She tilted her head slightly, her blonde bangs falling over her eyes somewhat.

Smiling lightly, Vincent's head tilted in thought. "Let's see.. The Gypsies perform mostly things like fortune telling and animal taming. Some of them do extravagant things like eating fire, anything to grab the attention of an audience. They're performers," he said with a shrug and a smirk. Even he knew that what they did wasn't real magic... Although the tarot readings were sometimes suspiciously accurate. "Italy is a very fertile land. My estate is located in the lush cradle of Toscana, surrounded by acres and acres of vineyards, where we grow grapes to make wine. It is a very colorful place, green in the spring and summer and painted with warm colors in the autumn. The weather is warm and temperate for much of the year, due to the ever present Mediterranean winds. We love food in Italy.. it is a country famous for its rich cuisine and abundant produce.. Let's see.. We also have a rich historical culture, and in many places you can find masterpieces of sculpture, art, and architecture.. Italy was the heart of the Renaissance era," he finished with a nod, sitting back a bit and relaxing with a widening smile. He was very proud of his homeland.

Gypsies. Phonies. She had expected as much, but it was still interesting to hear what the boy had to say. Upon hearing "animal taming" Levy's chin rose and she sat up straighter. What did these fakes know about animal taming? Her magic was centered around animals - speaking to them, taming them... Levy did not like the fact that they shared similar attributes, though the princess was definite that she was much better than any of those phonies.

Levy's postured softened as her mind wandered freely, painting pictures in her mind of the place Vincent called home. Italy... One day, hopefully, I can visit... The princess was very familiar with the country from her studies, but the way youngling spoke of it was much more lively than any book she had ever read on the matter. "Sounds like quite the happenin' place," She said, finally allowing herself to smile, her pearly whites brightening up her face. Though it was a simple statement, it was said with admiration. Levy would not have smiled otherwise. An estate surrounded by vineyards. That would explain the smell of wine on him. She concluded, taking a small bite of her quickly browning apple without excusing herself for eating in front of him.

Vincent grinned. He liked the way she smiled. "It is quite lively, especially in the market towns," he affirmed with a nod, finally beginning to look toward the food on the table. He was getting rather hungry, and he noticed that the girl had only an apple to eat. "Might I offer to get you a plate, principessa? I take it you've seen the spread, is there anything that you might like or recommend?" He didn't want her to go hungry. And, well, what he'd said about Italians was true for him as well - he loved to eat.

Just as he offered to get her a plate, Levy's stomach growled with hunger. She bit her lip, trapping a quiet chuckle in her throat. "There were a few things that did catch my eye," The princess said, starting to rise. She wanted the two to act as friends, and therefore thought it would be best if they both made their plates together. She appreciated his offer, however, and was sure he was just as hungry she- he was Italian after all. Levy offered Vincent a hand up, her scarlet eyes twinkling. "Come, let's break bread."

Smiling at her, Vincent nodded and took her hand. It was warm and pleasant, but held a surprising strength in its grip. Wandering beside her, he took a plate from the stack at the end of the table and allowed her to pick first. "What is your favourite kind of food? Is there a specialty of your land that you're particularly fond of?" Tilting his head, Vincent forked a succulent looking piece of lamb shank onto his plate and drizzled it with a spoonful of brown gravy. Some fettuccine with Alfredo would compliment that nicely.. did they even have it?

Levy asissted Vincent to his feet and then dropped his hand, leading the way towards the food. She grabbed a plate, looking down the table that was littered with an assortment of food. "Hmm.. You know, I've never really considered it," She said honestly, for she loved trying new foods. One of the perks to being a princess she supposed. There were very few things she didn't like on their own, but when combined into a tasty dish, she didn't mind. The princess watched as he loaded food onto his plate and added a slightly larger heaping to hers. Though she may not look like it, the woman could eat as much as a puberty stricken teenage boy and she was unashamed. Levy's eyes wandered the buffet before finally resting on a very cheesy pasta. Her slender face scrunched up in concentration, the name of the dish on the tip of her tongue, as she scooped some of it onto her plate. "What about you?" She asked, still trying to remember what the pasta dish was called. Futta... Fetta... Ugh!

Vincent grinned, taking a step toward the noodles he was looking for and dishing himself a healthy portion. "Me? I love Lasagna and Bruschetta, Calzone, Michetta, Pizza Marinara, Focaccia al Rosmarino, Gianduiotto, Struffoli, Frutti di Bosco.. Ah, and of course..." He smiles as he indicates the pasta on his plate. ".. Fettuccine noodles with creamy Alfredo sauce." He had listed off several native dishes, including Antipasti (appetizers), entrees, and desserts. He hadn't yet mentioned his favourite wine, as that was a can of worms not to enter into lightly. He was, admittedly, a wine snob. It was the family business, after all.

Levy listened intently, the names of delicious Italian dishes rolling off his tongue effortlessly. It all sounded so good. How could her own native dishes possibly compare to those? "Those all sound so good. We have something called Blue Sky Bolognese... But bolognese is an Italian meat-based sauce, is it not?" To her, food was like a universal language. No matter where you were, or what you were eating, or how you ate it, the intent of eating a meal with another person was comforting.

She watched as the boy piled some of the same pasta she had grabbed onto his plate. Fettuccine with Alfredo! Damn, that's what it is. I knew that... Levy made a mental note and then add some steamed vegetables to her plate before indicating that she was ready to pour drinks. "What can I pour for you?" The blonde asked, her eyes darting to his sapphires. She was merely asking to be polite. In reality, Levy had little knowledge of wine. Inside, she was desperately hoping he would offer instead, but on the outside she remained composed.

Vincent grinned, nodding enthusiastically when she mentioned the sauce. "Yes! It is delicious, also, best served over pasta like Fettuccine or Spaghetti." When she got to the drinks, Vincent raised a brow and looked at the selection. What he wanted was a nice Chianti to go with this meal, though it looked like they didn't serve wine to those who are considered "underage". But he did see what looked like Passion fruit tea, and decided that it would do well enough. Indicating his choice, he smiled lightly. She was being very courteous to him, for a Princess. He was glad that she didn't focus so much on social rank and more on their relationship as peers. It made things more comfortable.

"Sounds, delicioso," She said winking before averting her attention to the selection of drinks before them. Levy knew that the wine served in the dining hall was mainly for faculty, but her eyes glittered with mischief as she scanned the shelves. Did she dare? The girl was no thief; she just liked to stir up some trouble here and there. The princess could not smell any of the kitchen staff nearby, and her nose never lied. She began to scout the shelves, like a lioness stalking her prey. However, movement from Vincent caught her eye and she stopped. It seemed that he had made his selection: Passion fruit tea.

She decided to leave the wine as is and smiled back at Vincent as she put her plates down so she could pour him a glass. She handed it to him, a hint of mischief lingering in her eyes. Levy poured herself a glass of the tea as well, giving the wine shelves one last glance before leading them back towards the fireplace to dine making sure they had grabbed silverware as well.

Vincent couldn't help but snicker at her attempt at speaking Italian. "It's delizioso.. Delicious." Thanking her when she handed him his requested glass of tea, he followed her quietly back to their isolated spot by the fireplace. It had been warm and comfortable there, and, well, it was their spot. Waiting for the princess to sit first, Vincent retook his place and set his plate onto the table, fluffing out a napkin and laying it across his knee. He thought he would take the man's route, that way, instead of tucking it into his shirt like a child. He just hoped then that he wouldn't get his shirt dirty. Vincent had a lasting habit from childhood to eat with little regard to the mess he was making, so by effect, Jasper had ensured that his shirt was covered during all meals. How patronizing, but he at least had to thank him for all the clean clothes it saved. Looking up at the girl across from him, he smiled with a charming twinkle in his eyes. "Buon appetito, principessa."

"Yeah yeah, laugh all you want." She said, rolling her eyes and sitting down at the table once more. She unrolled her silverware from its napkin blanket and with one swift moment, placed the cloth over her lap. Levy was no longer smiling, but not because she was upset or anything of the sorts. Far from it, in fact. She was content, but her smiles were rare. Would Vincent had known this, he would have known to consider himself lucky to have received many this evening already. "Buon appetito," The princess repeated back, admiring the charming twinkle in his eyes before digging into her dinner. Damn, this is so good! After a few forkfuls, she took a sip of her tea and then looked at Vincent. "So... I know you're name, and where you're from... But how old are you?" Levy asked, hoping he would care to elaborate and explain his schedule for this year as well.

Vincent ate contentedly, very much enjoying his choice of meat and pasta. The chefs were top notch, for which he was grateful. When Levy asked of his age, he swallowed a bit. Well, he couldn't lie. "I'm thirteen," he began, speaking with as much maturity in his voice as he could muster. "But my birthday is only in November.. So I won't be thirteen for much longer." Hopefully that would be a plus in his favor. Fourteen wasn't so bad. He was a freshman, yes, but he considered himself to be quite mature for his age. Losing one's parents seems to do that. "What about you?"
