((Alrighty, Dramatis Personas is still in progress, but that's gonna take me quite a while no matter what. There are a lot of characters to write up descriptions of. But otherwise I think we're good to go. This will be the new home of Hunter X Guardian. To see the previous incarnation of this roleplay go here: Old HXG Thread))

Mathias rubbed knuckles against his eyes and yawned,"Yeah, ok ok. Gimme a second." He closed the door and managed to find a clean shirt and pair of breeches. After managing to put his boots on between yawns...then take them back off and put them on the correct feet... Mathias opened the door and walked with William towards the mess hall. They were halfway there when Mathias' sleepy eyes noticed it was just the two of them,"Hey, where's Kyro?"

"I dunno." William said. "I'm assuming he headed down for breakfast without us. Besides, we don't need him for some light training anyways. I was thinking maybe we could recruit a couple of the others and have a free for all. What do you think?"

Mathias shrugged as he and William reached the mess hall. The smells of cooking food, as usual, permeated the air and made his stomach growl in anticipation,"Sounds fine to me. I just hope I won't get tricked again like Kyro did to me last time we trained."

"Speaking of Kiro," William said as he scanned the cafeteria. "I don't see him anywhere." There were in fact very few people in the cafeteria at all at that early hour. William picked out one that he knew and approached. "Hey, TJ." Will said, having picked one of the relatively newer Hunters in the Corps. Will had spoken with her a couple of times since her joining, though they were not close friends, nor had they ever been on a mission together. "Have you seen Kiro? I can't seem to find him anywhere." "You can't find Kiro?" TJ asked. "That's hard to believe, you two are normally joined at the hip." "Hey now," Will interjected. "Kiro's like my brother, we've been partners for years. See how you feel if you get paired up with someone for that long. Now, have you seen him or not?" "Alright, alright." TJ held up her hands in defeat. "No, I haven't seen him this morning." "That's just weird. Normally he'd be right here devouring his breakfast by now. Well, maybe I'll run into him later. Either way I can't do much on an empty stomach." Will turned and headed to the tables to serve himself. After fixing up a large plate of breakfast he headed back to sit with TJ again. "So, what are you up to today? Any missions?" Will asked. "Not today. Why do you ask, Will?" TJ asked leaning towards him. "Wanna spend some time together?" "Yeah." "Really?" TJ asked leaning back again, looking mildly shocked, as though she had not expected such a response. "Yeah, Mathias and I are gonna do some training and I figured we'd turn it into a free for all style melee. You want in?" "Geez, Will. You sure know how to show a girl a good time." TJ said and slumped down in her seat.

Mathias had followed Will to gather his food and had taken a seat with him at the table with TJ. He laughed and winked at TJ,"Of course he does, TJ. What could be more fun that trouncing him in the practice yard and having the bragging rights for months to come?"

"You make a good point, new guy." TJ said. "Alright, Will, you're on." TJ pushed back her chair and rose. "I already ate, so I think I'll go on ahead to the Arena. I'll see if I can't recruit a couple of extra people while I'm at it." "Thanks, TJ." Will said. "We'll catch up once we're done here." TJ left and William returned his attention to his breakfast. Intending to finish quickly and head to the arena. In the back of his mind, though, he couldn't help but wonder where Kiro had disappeared to.

Mathias was also wolfing down his food in anticipation of the training bout. He pushed back his chair and gathered his plate and cutlery,"Kiro beat me last time. I hope a girl doesn't school me like he did." Mathias laughed and shook his head,"C'mon Will. I could use a friendly practice match and not have to worry about getting eaten this time."

TJ walked merrily along on her way towards the arena. She had managed to recruit another of the Corps. members for their battle royal. Yazira, the dark skinned guardian from Donaliag, walked along behind her with her hands resting on the hilts of her scimitars. Yazira had been keen to join in on the training, especially once she had been told of the free form version they intended to take with it. As the two of them neared the arena TJ noticed a man wearing a long brown coat and a matching hat. She didn't think she had ever seen him around before, but it was clear that he was a member of the Corps. She ran up to him. "Hey, hi!" She said in her cheerful voice. "I'm TJ. Me and a few friends are getting together in the arena for some training and we're looking for just about anybody that wants to join in." She leaned forward, peering at his eyes under his hat. "So, do you? Want in that is?"
Will had also just finished and followed Mathias example by gathering his eatery and dropped it off at the kitchens. "You know, Mathias, with all the weird abilities that some of the people out here have I don't know if you're really out of the woods as far as not getting eaten." Will said with a smile. "Anyway, we should head over to the arena right away. Hopefully TJ managed to get a couple more people to join in by now." That said, Will lead the way of of the cafeteria and towards the arena.

Drustwn looked TJ up and down, then her companion,Yazira. He looked back at TJ and spoke, his voice sounding gravelly, as if he didn't use it often,"I might be a bit out of your league, little girl. But sometimes getting soundly beaten is it's own teacher. Lead on."
Mathias laughed at Will's comment and nodded enthusiastically as he followed his friend to the arena,"Yeah we'll see. We'll see. Powers are nice and all, but I've noticed people tend to rely on them a little too much, and underestimate us normal guys when the chips are down. In any case, it'll be fun!"

TJ frowned at the man when he called her a 'little girl'. Now she was even more glad that she had asked him to join them, so she could beat the arrogance right out of him. She turned away and led the way into the arena. It was then that she realized that she didn't know precisely what Will was planning. "Why don't we wait here. Will and Mathias should be along in a minute." TJ said. Yazira simply shrugged and leaned against one wall while they waited.
Will led Mathias across the grounds ind through the entrance to the arena where he found TJ waiting with Yazira, and a man in a brown coat that he didn't recognize. "Hey, I hope we didn't make you wait long." Will said. "No, just a couple minutes." TJ said. Will nodded and then turned to the unknown man. "Hi, I don't think we've met. I'm William." Will held out his hand.

The morning was wary, but also kind of refreshing for Kiro as he and Enyo finally arrived in Danaliag. They had been traveling all night so their horse was exhausted. Kiro and Enyo dismounted and walked the horse to a nearby stable where travelers could rest their horses for a small fee. The young worker stationed at the stable took a few coins from Kiro and brought the horse inside without any questions; asking questions were not in their job description.
Enyo had slept during the ride so she was well rested, though she worried about Enyo's health. Kiro didn't appear to have sleep as a course of action in the new future at all; he seemed to be serious which was unlike him.
"What's your plan now?" Enyo asked curiously, her eyes scanning the business foreign city. She had never really traveled out this far so everything seemed so new to her.
"We need some information." Kiro replied to Enyo, his tone of voice very deep and serious; not at all the kind sincere sounding Kiro she knew. "We will find a safe location to rest afterwards." He added soon after.

Drustwn looked at William's hand a moment before taking it in a firm grasp,"Drustwn," was all he said. Mathias grinned and extended his own hand as well,"Mathias Valenti." Drustwn also took Mathias' hand after a short pause,"Yes, I know who you are." Mathias blinked and suddenly looked less sure, but shook it off a moment later and grinned again, giving Drustwn a friendly nod,"Alright then... what are the rules before we begin?"

"Well, If you'll all follow me to where we'll be hosting this little event and I'll explain once we get there." Will said smiling. William led the way to the elevator and had the lift en raise them up several floors. They stopped at the floor he indicated and the Hunters all piled out. The room they had arrived in was one with a single large circular fighting ring with several smaller rings around it. Each ring was raised above floor level by several feet. "This will be our battlefield." Will said indicating the center ring, which was about 100 feet in diameter. "The rules will be pretty simple. We'll all enter the ring, space ourselves out, and all commence on signal. If you are knocked from the ring you're out. Last man, or woman, standing in the ring is the winner. So, let's get started." Will cast his jacket off onto one the seating areas around the ring. He knew this would deprive him of the many daggers he kept concealed in it, but he really wanted to work on his swordplay for this exercise. Besides, he still had the ones in his boots. He then climbed the short set of stairs up into the ring and proceeded to the far side. TJ placed her crossbow on the seat next to William's jacket, she generally used it for stealth attacks, but didn't think it would do her much good here. She also proceeded into the ring. Yazira had preceded Will and the two stood about 20 feet apart along the edge of the ring, with her at his right. TJ walked to stand at William's left, also about 20 feet away. Yazira had her scimitars in hand and looked prepared to commence at any second. Will had drawn his sword and held it in one hand resting over his shoulder. TJ strapped on her round shield and drew her short sword. She generally didn't participate in close combat if she could help it. But she looked at this as a chance to brush up. She checked her gloves, making sure that her thumb talons were able to reach her fingertips around the handles of her sword and shield. If she could play the other participants against each other and throw in some distractionary tactics in just the right amounts at the right times she thought she might actually have a chance of winning this little match.

Kiro and Enyo made their way deeper into the busy city of Danaliag, dodging merchants and scurrying civilians. A dark hood covered Kiro, which made sure his face over his head the entire time they had been in the area. The two ventured pasted the busy streets and onto the side streets that were more run down and poor. There, they entered a pub called "Lions Mouth" where you could instantly spell the scent of booze and hear the sounds of brawling.
The busy was run down, but was filled with sound and excitement. Men and woman making drink orders, hooligans rough housing, and young women being flirted with quite aggressively. Enyo stared with interest, but was urged onward by Kiro who strode past all of the distractions quickly and through another door in the back of the pub.
"What's all this? Where are we exactly?" Enyo questioned quickly as soon as they entered a large room even more run down and much more gloomy and quiet than the previous one.
"This pub is a well known place for street rats and travelers, but in the back is where many of warriors and bounty hunters go for information. If you need to know something, they will probably know something about it. If they don't, then they order out specialists to find out and once they have what you need, you pay them for their services. Simply, its an information exchange." Kiro explained as he approached one of many open desks with patient attendants.
"I see. You use this measure of service often?" Enyo asked curiously as she followed very close behind him.
"I used to..." Kiro trailed off. "This is shady business, but it must be done." Kiro added quietly as he now stood in front of middle-aged man at a wooden counter. The middle aged man had an eye patch on his right eye and a large scar across his bald head, which gave Enyo the impression Kiro may be correct about his judgment of this business being shady.
"You seek a request?" The bald, eye-patched man asked in a cold scratchy voice.
"Yes." Kiro replied, his face still clouded in darkness under his hood. The man behind the counter then slipped forward a small piece of paper and pulled out a pen and a small dabble of ink.
"What's that for?" Enyo asked Kiro with another probing question.
"When making a request here, everything you need to know will be written down to avoid eavesdroppers and spies. Like I said, shady business." Kiro replied as he began writing something onto the small piece of paper while ignoring the glare on the bald man's face from when Kiro commented on their business.
“That’s very clever.” Enyo commented. Out here seems like almost a different world than what I’m used to… Enyo thought to herself as Kiro finished writing his request.
