Right as Seven finished speaking, a new message came in. She bit her lip and looked caught between sadness and laughter.
"Kai doesn't know... Look at his message."
She brought it up on the screen for Alec to read. "They're close friends."

Alec quickly skimmed over the message and got just about the same reaction as Seven. He was sad to have to inform Kai about the situation with Ialo, but was amused about the fact that he knew about his and Seven's interactions. Which wasn't a bad thing really... was it?
Alec honestly hadn't thought about what Ialo would think of the recent happenings between him and Seven. If Ialo had originally designed Seven to not have emotions, and Alec singlehandedly managed to completely rewrite that code indirectly, and then cause the machine in question to have feelings for him in turn, then...
...This wasn't good. Even if Alec got Ialo out, he'd doubt he'd be happy about the current situation that he and Seven found themselves in. Alec looked at the computer screen slightly worriedly and asked Seven plainly, "Seven? Do you think Ialo will be upset if he finds out I basically caused you to develop emotions?"

"That would be impossible," Seven stated calmly. "I have always had emotions. I was built with them after all. You only proved to me that I did not need the inhibitors."
The real answer was, unless she could prove to Master Ialo that she was not dangerous with emotions, and she was not any less obedient, she would be reprogrammed. And she really didn't want to lose these wonderful feelings.

Alec stared at Seven a bit more intently this time around. "You're avoiding the question Seven. Will Ialo be upset that I caused you to ignore the inhibitors he set up in the first place?"

Seven looked down. ".... Upset? No, no, not upset. He would want to put the inhibitors back in place, but he wouldn't be upset..."

Alec cocked an eyebrow at Seven, waiting for her to finish her statement. Which he KNEW she was going to. It was too obvious, even for Seven.

The cartoon twiddled her fingers, looking rather anxiously at the edges of the screen. "I should reply to Kai," she said.
This is an automated reply from Blue Storm #007. Master Ialo is currently incarcerated. I am continuing my work within the school.
The reply pointedly ignored Kai's last question, as it disappeared to Kai's inbox.
"... Please don't look at me like that. I don't... like this feeling..."

Alec kept up the look as he responded rather flatly to the machine in front of him. "Be that as it may, I don't prefer being kept in the dark about matters that might be upsetting. I'd rather see the storm about to hit then stay inside and pretend it isn't right outside the window."

The machine was silent for several moments. "... If you don't succeed in getting Master Ialo out of prison, there will be no storm, so to speak. And even if you do, he may not be in the proper state of mind to comprehend my... changes. On the other hand," she found herself continuing, "He may overreact and... termination is possible."

..."Well, that's... not good." Alec sort of expected this to be honest. He didn't know Ialo terribly well, but dragons generally didn't like other people messing with their stuff.
But Alec had just made a good friend in Seven. ...If not something more, he still wasn't quite sure just yet. But even so, Seven was a good person, and Alec wasn't about to let someone's ego destroy such a person simply because it fits his logic. Alec's eyes took on a deadly determination he hadn't felt in a while as he stated as matter-of-factly as he could to Seven. "...We are going to get Ialo out of prison. And when we do, we're not going to let him rewrite you. We'll MAKE him understand if we have to, but I won't let him rewrite you. You're fine as is."

"No, it's not," Seven agreed softly. "Thank you Alec, thank you very much." She cast her glance down, and blushed - and this time, it was much more noticeable. The fan in the laptop went into high speed, blowing out overheated air from her processor.
"I... I don't want to be terminated. I want to be useful."

Kai sighed as the floating laptop beeped again and read the message. "Seven doesn't have artificial messages. ... Oh well Ialo is in prison ... I swear are we going to have to save him to get the slime out of office?" He asked himself slightly annoyed at not even knowing Ialo was in jail.
Skia let go of Kai pacing Circles around him as she waited. "Hey Kai, what's up with this whole debt thing the light mail was talking about?"
"It means they owe money, Which is weird. I thought this school was spun in with one of Ialo's bank accounts ... where is that money going." He thought to himself looking at skia watch him patiently. "You up for some snooping?" He asked immediately knowing the answer by the way Skia's face lit up.

Alec perked up at Seven's statement. "Of COURSE you're useful! You gathered all that information the other day, right?" Alec paused at that, he had honestly forgotten about the sheer amount of data Seven was able to collect on Silas. Alec decided that he had some time before classes started, so he might as well look through it. Maybe even boost Seven's mood a bit more by making her feel even more useful. "Speaking of which, do you mind if we start sifting through all that data Seven? I've got some time before this class starts."

Seven smiled slightly, shyly twirling a piece of her animated hair, making the long curl that much more pronounced.
"I won't be able to go through it as quickly in this state, but yes. I think it is an excellent idea to get started on it now. Where would you like to begin?"
