{{lol! Sounds like a plan. wink }}

Lin was very worried about Dymetri. To her recollection, he had never had a bad dream before, let alone one that caused such a reaction in him. But she didn't want her worry to affect Dymetri, so she tried move on.

She wrapped her arms around Dymetri's midsection when he embraced her and she slowly and softly kissed the side of his neck. Her soft satin nightgown was thin and wispy, but shockingly, she didn't mind that. She didn't mind wearing it and being so physically close with Dymetri.

When she spoke, her lips brushed against his neck.

"Should we go to the gardens? It always calms me down. Or we could visit your old suite in the Night Building. As I mentioned before, I have kept your suite clean and homey. I simply transform into my yellow hummingbird form and go in through the slightly-cracked window to your sitting area. I can do that this time and then transform back to let you in. Whatever you want to do is more than agreeable for me, Dymetri."

His mind cleared.

It felt so real.

Shutting his eyes, he realized how irrational he was acting. He needed to pull himself together. And in front of Lin, oh great.

He pulled away from her, his face clear of any distress and gave her his number one smile. He'd been smiling a lot, he realized. Lin made him happier. "Have you forgotten that, although I'm not what I used to be, I'm able to do what I used to do?"

His skin became transparent until it was nothing; a soft, purple tinted breeze acted as kisses along her skin until it blew through her hair. Hands appeared around her from behind and Dymetri looked down at her with the same smile, the rest of him gaining opacity.

"Just because I am a measly human," he began, his lips now brushing against her neck, "does not mean that I am, in fact, measly." He gave her a quick love bite and chuckled. "I apologize for waking you up."

He paused for a moment, remembering Lin's comment about his old room, and looked around him. "Is this my room now?"

Lin gasped as Dymetri began to disappear. Her mind instantly went back to a couple weeks ago when Dymetri had died before her very eyes, disappearing into nothingness. Tears already began to form in her eyes.

When she felt the kisses along her skin, though, she took a deep breath and began to calm down. He was still here, with her. He was simply showing her his powers, as he had alluded to moments ago.

She turned when he began to gain shape again and she threw her arms around his neck and hugged him to her, her head resting on one of his shoulders and her heart racing. She didn't want to lose the feel of him again, the ability to be able to touch him and have him next to her.

Lin tried to respond naturally to Dymetri's question, hoping that she had not worried him now. "This... this is Marcos-the-student's room now. No one is using your room in the Night Building, however. Until they find a replacement instructor, we can stay there again, if you wish. I know that I am the only one who visits that room. Would you prefer to go there now?"

Her head was still resting on his shoulder.

Dymetri nodded, still looking around the room despite Lin's shaky voice. "I see."

His body lowered onto what used to be Lin's side of the bed. "Are you uncomfortable here, ma chérie?" He rested his head on his hands, flexing his triceps automatically. "If you are, we'll leave immediately. I'm sure the night is young, so you'll get a good amount of sleep despite my.. interruption."

"If not," he began, momentarily freeing a hand to pat the area beside him, "come rest with me."

He still saw the invisible droplets of blood running down her neck, her face, matting her hair and staining her clothes. Blinking made it disappear. The sight disappearing directed his attention to her clothes.

Satin was a very provocative linen. It was smooth to the touch, delicate, like women. It was thin; easily removed, but beautiful to the eye. Dymetri's imagination went wild, connecting every curve between the seen and unseen.

"Holy s**t," he breathed. "Forgive me for just noticing now, but do you wear that often?"

Every bit of covered flesh was being constructed in his imagination until he realized that he was taking off her clothes with his eyes. A soft rosy color settled across his face as he turned away. Now that he was mortal, he was able to blush. How demeaning.

Lin smiled softly, even more relaxed now, and laid down next to Dymetri. She rested her head head in the crook of his arm and wrapped one of her arms around his waist.

"I am most certainly not uncomfortable here if you are not. After your nightmare, I want you to be someplace where you can be more calm and relaxed. If it is not here, I would take you to your suite. I am comfortable, and beyond happy, wherever I am as long as I am with you, Dymetri... Though a library would make it seem like Heaven on Earth."

She winked at him playfully so that he knew she was mostly joking about the last part.

When he mentioned her clothing, she looked down at her nightgown and shrugged, choosing to ignore his cussing for now. She was afraid he didn't like it, though it was distasteful.

"Yes, I wear it quite frequently on the occasion that I do sleep. I do believe that I might have even been wearing it the very first time you came to see me in my room at night. I was sleeping and when I awoke and went to my dresser, you were there behind me, giving me an ice rose. I still have some of the roses in my room."

When she saw the blush in his cheeks, she leaned closer to him, her chest brushing along his, and lightly brushed her fingers over his cheeks in an inquisitive nature. To see a blush on Dymetri's cheeks was still quite odd for her. A pleasant sight, but still odd.

"I find your cheeks' ability to flush now and your reaction to it very interesting."

She continued to slowly stroke his cheeks with one of her hands.

His eyes remained down. "However interesting it may be, it will never surpass the interest I have for you and how often you're able to surprise me."

He touched her hand with his own, his face thoughtful. "I still have that ability," he murmured. "It doesn't surprise me that you encase your memories within little objects. Objects that are easily broken."

He raised her hand to his lips and kissed them. He spoke against her skin. "Did you ever have nightmares of the moment I turned to ash? Do you ever try to think and the memory decides to interrupt?" Dymetri looked at Lin now, his face serious. "Have I interrupted your life in such a way with my death? Am I interrupting it now, with my savage reincarnation?"

His eyes closed, his head lowered to kiss her hand again. His kisses trailed up her arm, paused at her neck. "Do you miss the excitement of being able to die at any moment?" He took the soft flesh of her neck between his teeth and sucked.

A hand appeared behind her head, massaging her scalp. His tongue strolled to the beginning of her jawline, breathing against her earlobe. Dymetri bit it softly, his other hand sliding up her thigh. "As much as I want to be a man and take what I want, Lindolyn, I must be your gentleman and ask you, what do you want?"

Lin was confused at the beginning of what Dymetri said. His words on memories and encasing them in little objects completely threw her for a loop and baffled her. She had no idea what he was referring to... though it did remind her of earlier that day when she had gone out to the gardens with the crystal ball that contained Ambrose's memories of their time together. She had put the crystal ball in a place that had been special to both of them, the place she hoped she could visit with him again in the future, as friends.

She only wanted to think about Dymetri, though. He was here with her again finally. He was alive and here with her and they had all the time in the world to be together. Well they would once/if he took part in the ceremony of extending his life after they were married.

When he spoke of his dying again, though, and how he wondered, worried, that he was interrupting her life now, she bristled and tensed. She did not want to think of when he died. Yes, she still had visions of that moment, that soul-shattering moment when he had disappeared in front of her eyes. She had not accepted his death until days later, but that vision of him turning to ash still haunted and ate at her. She wanted to carve it out of her mind and destroy it. She never wanted to think of it again and she wanted nothing more than for Dymetri to stop mentioning it.

Was he living for the past? Why did he mention his death so frequently? Was she not enough for him? Did he wish for something more, something else that would allow him to move on with his life, his new life? Was she just a reminder of his previous life and did she serve as a tether that tied him to it when it was best he moved on?

She was broken out of her haze of questions, of frightening possibilities by Dymetri's hands and mouth. She was so startled that she gasped and then arched into his hands when she fully returned to the moment. He knew that her ears were highly sensitive. They were for all elves. He was igniting a fire within her that she was afraid he wouldn't want to put out, that he wouldn't take care of. There would also probably be a mark on her neck from where he had sucked the flesh into his mouth and teased it lightly with his teeth. Of course she would wear a scarf when she went out in public, but when she would look in the mirror, she would cherish that mark and wish for it to never go away. It was a physical reminder that Dymetri was alive and here with her and that for now, he wanted to be with her.

She whimpered softly at his question and closed her eyes when he massaged her scalp. She rested her own hands on Dymetri's upper thighs and dug her fingers in just slightly. She needed to hold onto something or she would lose herself in these sensations, these responses to his actions.

With her eyes still closed, she whispered lowly and softly. "I want... I want to be with you, in every way possible and in every way that's not possible. Dymetri..."

She opened her eyes and looked into his. They were a deep blue with bright blue flecks inside of them. She didn't know this, but her eyes had never taken on such an appearance before.

"I love you. I love you with every ounce of my soul and body. I love who you were, who you are, and the great man that I know you are going to become in the future. I want to be with you in ways that I do not understand and ways I do not know. When I'm with you, I always want to be closer. It hurts when I am away from you and it hurts when I am with you. It hurts when I am with you because I want to be even closer to you, physically and spiritually, and I know that in some ways, we cannot be. It is not physically possible. I do not understand it all, and that is very frustrating!" She laughed softly at her last statement. Then, she moved closer to him, if that were possible.

"I am so scared that you do not want me, however. Even if you do want me now, I am afraid you will not in the future. I am... No matter how much you flatter me, Dymetri, I am still simply a student who might be book smart but still does not know an ounce of what is outside of those books, what others deem as world knowledge. I am sheltered and I know this! I am afraid that you will become frustrated with me and want to leave... I am afraid you will become bored with me."

She sighed and looked down at her hands on Dymetri's thighs. "These are not concerns that have simply arisen due to my relationship with you. I have had these concerns for quite some time. I simply fooled myself into believing that my inadequacies would not become an issue in the future. Whether you were with me or not, however, my shortcomings would have become hindrances. I am afraid that eventually you will see all of my flaws soon and wish to leave..."

She closed her eyes and finally forced herself to address what she had been so terrified to before now, with anyone. A tear slipped down one of her cheeks when she finally spoke. Her voice was very soft and very young.

"And I wish... I wish you would cease speaking of the moment you perished in front of me. I see it frequently in my nightmares, I see it often when I close my eyes, and I see it when I look at Professor Akakios. I see myself taking your ashes in my hands and showing them to the professor. I see myself begging for him to bring you back, to make you whole again... to bring you back to me. I see him trying to reason with me, of eventually telling me that it is not possible. I cannot handle seeing these images anymore, Dymetri. They tear at me each time I see them and I am taken back to a time and place that is complete darkness for me. A void."

She finally opened her eyes and looked up at Dymetri. They were swimming with tears, but there was a fierceness in them that they rarely had.

"If speaking of your death helps you come to terms with it, I will try to help you the best I can. But I cannot keep seeing that moment in my mind. I want you to move forward, Dymetri. I want to move forward with you, but if I keep anchoring you to your past, then... then I will go. I will leave you if it is what is best for you. I do not want to, but I love you too much to hold you back if I am. I do not want to be part of the reason that you continue to look back."

Tears were falling down her cheeks again, but she continued speaking.

"Everyone has moments in their lives where they must let go of their past and move forward into their future. In this way, you are no different from anyone else. You may have had a physical reincarnation, but everyone has a spiritual reincarnation at some point in their lives. You must decide how you wish to grow and learn from yours..."

Her hands were gripping his thighs tightly now. She was praying with everything inside of her that he did not send her away, but she would go if he wanted her to, if he thought it was what was best for him. For herself, she knew that Dymetri helped her grow and learn. It was possible for people to grow together, as a couple. She should tell him this. She had not spoken of this before and he needed to know.

"You help me to learn Dymetri. You help me to grow. Before I was with you, I hated without reason, I judged without knowledge, I saw the world incorrectly. No matter what transpires between us, nothing will ever change that. You have helped me to grow and to become who I am today. I know that you can help me continue this journey of self-improvement and self-fulfillment, and I know we can do this together. I simply do not know..."

She breathed a shaky sigh. "I simply do not know if you feel you can do the same with me, if you feel you can grow and progress with me at your side."

((Don't say sorry, that's such a great post. I love it, Laura. Awesome!))

Dymetri laid with her and listened. As her tears progressed, he would either wipe them away or kiss them away.

"My darling, if life were to tell me anything, it's that no one has any flaws. That term is inappropriate. For there to be flaw, there needs to be a perfect form. No one is perfect, nothing is perfect. Perfection doesn't exist for humans, elves, vampires, witches, anyone.

Your words sadden me, Lin. But they do not surprise me." He kissed away a tear. "You forget that I'm one of the ones, perhaps one of the first or perhaps not, that spoke of how limited your knowledge would be going on the rate you were. Despite how long you've lived, you've hardly lived."

He closed his eyes temporarily. Her fingers were dug into his thighs, sending him both pain and pleasure signals. Which were, obviously, the best kind.

"I apologize if bringing up what happened disorients you or upsets you. But don't you think it hypocritical that you want me to move forward, yet you still haven't come to terms with it? You say you accepted it within days, but acceptance doesn't come with the stinging memory forever entrapped in your mind.
I am able to progress, I am able to grow. I'm able to live with or without you by my side."

Opening his eyes, he stared into her own. His warm platinum against her cool blue. "As you said, everyone must decide how they wish to grow and learn from the moment they let go of their pasts. I wish to grow with you, because your absence from my life wouldn't make sense. I would see the sun each morning and think of you. I would be in the lake and see just you. I would get a coffee in the morning and wish to speak with you. I'm fully aware of how attached I am to you and how unhealthy it probably is, but I don't care. If all of this is true, which it most definitely is, how the hell could I ever manage to be bored with you?"

Dymetri smiled at her lovingly. "'I want to be with you, in every way possible and in every way that's not possible,'" he repeated. "I love you, Lin."

He firmly kissed her, his hand remaining at the back of her head. His other hand slid around her body, pulling her on top of him. He sighed, refreshing the memory of her body against his.

((What grade is Lin in anyway?))
PostPosted: Sat Aug 07, 2010 2:12 pm

{{Aww! Thanks Victoria. smile I'm really glad you like it. And Lin is 17 now, so she's a junior, though she takes mostly senior-level classes.}}

{{And I really like what Dymetri said about flaws. biggrin }}

Lin absorbed everything Dymetri said. He was so smart and so right! How had she never thought of it that way before? No one was perfect, and she knew this from an early age. It had not stopped her from trying to obtain it, though. But since there was no perfection, how could there be flaws? There just was.

When Dymetri had said this about flaws and she had processed it, she nuzzled into the side of his neck. She felt so much relief that it was indescribable.

She spoke softly against his neck, kissing it periodically. "Oh I have not forgotten, my love. I remember every moment of that night we went to Starbucks. I remember you voicing your concern, or what I took as concern, that I was very inexperienced, that I was not living. You even mentioned that I should go to the United States of America."

She smiled softly against his neck, kissed it, and then continued. "What you have said has always challenged and, ultimately, helped me. That is why I say that you have helped me to grow and become the person I am now. That is why I say that by being with you, I have grown, that our relationship has helped me more than anything or anyone else ever could."

Lin moved one of her hands, found one of Dymetri's, and gripped his. She needed his strength to continue with the next part of what she needed to say.

"And... I believe you are right. I do not believe that I have... accepted or come to terms with what happened to you. With your... your death."

Her body flinched when she said that word and she moved closer to Dymetri.

"But how can I? How could I ever come to terms with it? I suppose that I can remember that you have come back to me, that the death was not permanent... I suppose that in order to truly accept your death, I will need your help. If you have been able to move on from it, perhaps you can help me to do so as well. I do not know how to, and I rarely admit to not knowing what to do. I simply have no idea how to move forward in this instance. I am completely at a loss and... scared."

When he explained how he felt about her, how he saw her everywhere he looked, she breathed a sigh of relief that came from every inch of her body. He saw her as she saw him. He did not want to leave her, he did not believe that he would grow bored of her. Yes, he loved her and she never doubted that once. But now she believed that he might stay in love with her and remain interested and challenged with her.

When he said he wanted to be with her in every way possible and every way that wasn't, when he repeated her words, and when he told her he loved her, she sighed against his neck and squeezed his hand.

Before she could respond, Dymetri kissed her and pulled her on top of him. It was the most pleasurable sensation she had felt in a very long time, possibly ever. If there were any past sensations that could even compete, they would be from Dymetri as well. In fact, she was suddenly vividly reminded of the time they spent together before one of her classes one day. He had assaulted her body with sensations she had never experienced before and had almost overwhelmed her. Overwhelmed her in the most amazing and best way possible.

She closed her eyes and whimpered softly again. She moved one of her legs along one of Dymetri's and moved her hands to his waist. She gripped him tightly and pressed her body even closer to his.

Lin whispered against his lips as best she could. "Don't... Don't stop this time, Dymetri, please. I do not know what I am asking, but I just know that I don't want you to stop."

She kissed him deeply.

((IT DROPPED.))

He pulled away once more, studying her face in the dim light. "Lin, I do love you. I want you to be sure. I've done this before, I've seen regret shine in a woman's eyes. It may hurt."

He hugged her, held her and rolled so that his face was over hers. He fingered her pendant. "I don't have protection either. We may have existed for a long time, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take the precautions invented by man."
