Melody Nocturna Melody darted to the stage as her name was called, leaving Roswell to his leaning tower of screecha and put her arm around her instrument. Ah, what a lovely tune it made. She smiled as she looked toward the crowd. But Atomica, she was the ghoul who set this up? It wasn't surprising, but it seemed as a bit short notice. Her smile brightened even more as Marcilene and the ghouls came up to join herself and Atomica. But what songs would they play? What chords were correct? She took a deep breath, trying to relax. This was why, in her mind, short notices weren't always smooth sailing.
Roswell could see Melody was starting to get nervious!
"Go Ghouls! You go this! Rock this dance outa this world!"
He shouted to them, trying to be as encouraging as he could hoping that Melody would understand. This was all for her. All he saw was her. heart

She gave a sharp sigh as she tuned a bit more, she glanced over to Marceline and then to Vanissha, both giving encouraging smiles.
She had always played in private and in music theory, and sometimes with the ghouls when Atomica demanded a practice or two; but when it came to public performances, she had never really given one. And because she had never given one made the situation rough seas in her stomach. She squinted her eyes as she could barely see the silhouette of her boofriend, and although she could not see him, she could clearly hear him.
"You go ghouls! You got this!"
And Roswell was right, they could do this. All she needed was a bit of encouragement, and even if her self confidence was still a bit shaky, they could still manage to give a great performance.
She gave a nod to the other ghouls, then to Atomica letting them know she was ready.

Gryff sulked at his table. The music for most of the night had been even lower than the specially lowered bar he usually used to judge Monster High events. Catty Noir's unfortunately brief set had been a bright spot that he was never going to reveal to anyway ever. EVER. Now both Lin and Atomica had abandoned him, the former for the dance floor and the latter, the stage. In fact, just about everyone was dancing right now except for him. Or rather, most of them were swaying in an approximation of the rhythm and the rest were shuffling around while starring into each other's eyes.
At least the music was good. His hoof tapped along without thinking about it.
"Hexcuse me," a familiar voice purred behind him, "but you seem to be one of the only boos without a partner. I almost never get to dance at these, so...um, would you dance with me?"
He froze. It couldn't be. His heart pumped a little faster as he turned. But no, there she was, in her glittering pink dress to match her sparkling pink hair: Catty Noir.
He glanced around quickly. Atomica was too engrossed in performing to notice and Lin was dumb-struck, sandwitched between the weretwins on the other side of the dance floor.
"Me?" he asked, standing. His voice cracked just a hair as she smiled.
"Yes. Hey weren't you running for tombcoming king? I saw you on a poster! You were the only one advertising on the Coffin Cart! Your face was spray-painted on the side, wearing a beret."
Gryff felt a blush start somewhere around his neck and slowly work its way up.
"Um...yeah...queen too, because, um, gender roles aren't normative- I mean, just because queens aren't traditionally archetypal for...no, wait..."
Catty laughed.
"Didn't your poster say you were a dancer?"
The blush was probably all over his face now but in the dim lighting and what with being covered in fur, maybe it wasn't so noticeable.
"YES!" he blurted, "I mean, yes. I was going to dance, if, um, I won. This secret dance I've been working on, it's really artistic with a lot of dancing in it. But I didn't, so..."
"Oh, that's too bad. Well, would you dance with me anyway? A non-secret dance, so you don't have to go back on your campaign promise."
He forget to breath for a moment. Maybe that would counteract the flush and even his color out a little.
"Yesokthatwouldbegreatyoursecondsingleisthesecondmostmovingrenditionof"UndertheBridgesofScaris"I'veeverheard."
Catty blinked and smiled, unsure of what he said. Between Atomica's hextreme volume and Gryff's rush is was hard to make it out. But he held out his hand and she took them, leading him onto the dance floor.
Here, Gryff finally snapped out of it. For one brief shining moment he grabbed Catty around the waist, twirled her once, twice, three times! in an elegant arc, nimbly passing her through the students. Then when he pulled her back around close to him, he forgot how to do anything and just swayed in an approximation of the rhythm until the end of the song.
