"You can't name him 'squishy', that's just a terrible joke. You could do better, Meris." Madla said, rolling her eyes at his egregious attempt at a pun. "Ah, so that's why we randomly get yelled at while you go off to disappear. Any sympathy I may have had is gone now."
Madla laughed. "I don't think the world could handle two of me. Can you imagine two Madla clones running around? We'd be ruling the world in no time flat. And Adora may hold the baby." there was a protective edge to her voice she hadn't had before. Not that she thought Adora would do anything bad to the kid, just...it was a teeny person that depended on her, and Madla wasn't about to let anything mess with it. At least, not while it was an infant. When it got a little older, then it was fair game to the 'aunts' and 'uncles' of the band.
Madla turned and tossed another ball at the cans, not really paying attention, and hit them just right a second time. The geist blinked, and snagged the purple plush that was hinging from the booth.

"Is the Academy a good school, then?" zey asked. Zey hadn't met a student who hadn't gone to the Academy--perhaps the school that Vaden had gone to had been much better. It...was not comforting to think of this as not the best school. Zey would have been surprised if it was the best school, but zey didn't think--zey hoped--that this was a very good school nonetheless. "Was...your old school better?"
Zalir's ball found its mark, knocking down the bottles in a cacophony that was lost in the general pandemonium. The adult running the booth gave zem a smile, and pointed to a row of toys tied to the sides of the stall. Zey pointed to a pale orange goat toy--Zalir liked shades of brown and orange, and not only because they were zeir natural colors. With the toy neatly tucked into zeir shoulderbag, zey patted Vaden gently on the shoulder. Zalir did it without thinking--for a moment, zey forgot that another person would probably not like to be touched. "I'm sorry. Maybe you could try again?" Zey looked at the nightmare behind the counter, who nodded in agreement.
Laurel happily clasped the necklace around Arcadia's neck and hopped around to her front so he could see how it looked.
"It looks a million times prettier on you than I thought!" He exclaimed, reaching into his pocket to pull out the pink bottle he'd one earlier. "Can you put mine on for me? We'll be all matchy-matchy!"
(Because they're conversing, I'm just going to say he won this at another game before they met)

He wasn't entirely sure how to answer the question about the differences in schooling. It was just...different out there in the world. These kids were definitely getting a more...Expansive world view than say a Litch in Boreas was, or a Geist back in one of the Princedoms. At least the level of quality was easiest enough to answer. "Yes, the Academy is a good school. I don't know if it's the Best school, but it is a good school...the staff here are generally among the smartest, most tolerant, individuals of their races...I know some of them are early Cache orphans who have come back to teach, and the Universities that are attached, are among some of the best for doing what they do...I know students from around Below try to get into Leviathan, Grendel and Asterion."
"I was...privately schooled at home." he said quickly and then immediately changed the subject. "Congratulations on your prize." he said with a nod and a polite smile.
He shook his head. "I don't mind moving on to another game to let you test your luck. I don't believe in pushing my own when it's obvious I'm not meant to win." he said and indicated the next booth.
“I said I was half tempted… besides that requires effort and I’m out of school and off duty. I don’t need to work on my puns….” Meris commented with a slightly feral smile. “But no in all actuality I’ll probably stick with my naming theme and the little guy will end up being called Polar… and I feel no remorse. I am not a herbivore I want to eat my greasy not healthy fast food”
Meris mock turned his head to the side while he watched Madla get another plushie. “Well that’s not entirely true… after all it seems like we can distract you well enough with globs of vespercat plushies, purple, and the occasional jelly flitterrat” he responded. “Okay I’ll talk to Adora not to steal the baby if you fend off the manager for a week and let me eat whatever unhealthy thing I want” It wasn’t as if he gained any weight for it, his metabolism quite on his side as long as he put in a couple hours at the gym every week.... on a less deal making note. You figured out any names yet?"

She giggled. "You only say that because they have as much energy and fun playing as a Freshling," Cassie teased, watching the way Jezebeth's familiars fought against her arms. She watched as the young Fallen played the game, a soft expression on her face yet.
"Advice? Well, you must be nice to them," the pink-haired girl started with, moving along with Jezebeth. "And if you feed them treats, they'll start following you around even better," she giggled, reaching to touch Gypso's snout briefly. "I'm sure the care takers will help you out." She didn't remember having a familiar when she was that little, and had only gotten Tink within the last year, but she faintly remembered some of the older Nightmares assisting in Familiar care. They should since they were clearly just giving them out willy nilly.
Kobe scampered into the large room and looked around. He looked in awe at all the food, it all looked so tasty! After snagging some, he checked out the games. He wondered if he was even tall enough to throw the balls over the booth table. He smiled brightly as he watched the other nightmare play the games. He would have normally been super shy with as many people but his packmates had told him that when there were as many nightmares around as there was currently.... NONE of them are probably paying attention to him. So he decided to try and just enjoy himself! Besides, the prizes and familiars looked enticing!
For a while, Ash wondered where Chi might be, as she hadn't been in their dorm room earlier. Surely she wanted in on the plushies and other cute trinkets and familiars that were given out as prizes. Or maybe she'd try to win something for Chi, herself? Hopefully her luck would turn soon.
The next table she decided to check out had cards laid out. You were supposed to try and guess which one of them had the highest number, and if you got it right, you won a prize. After spending what seemed like a small eternity trying to choose, she finally pointed at one of the cards, and she actually got it right this time! Bouncing and giggling with glee, she received a glowing pendant as her prize. It was so pretty, though, she really wanted to keep it. Maybe she'd try to win another matching one for Chi?
Staring a little bemusedly at the latest game table, Binhdi wondered what on earth had possessed her to stop. Thrill of the challenge maybe. She'd never really played a dart game before and this one seemed interesting enough.
Taking the three darts (all altered so that the points had been rendered harmless), she carefully set her jelly jar off to the side and took aim. Hitting and breaking any of the small balloons would win her something. But she wanted to get the golden balloon in the center of the board. After a moment, the imp thought she had a fairly good bead on things and threw. The first dart struck the board just to the side of the balloon. Smiling, she adjusted her aim and threw again, this time hitting the board on the other side.
"Third time's the charm, don'cha know," she said with a grin as she threw the last dart and hit the gold balloon dead on, holding her breath for a moment. Then, the balloon broke in a tiny burst of glitter.
"Well done, young'un," the teacher in charge exclaimed. "You win the prize! You get your pick between these little familiars... where's the cat got to?"
Hearing a tiny, purring chirp, Binhdi glanced down and saw a small, chocolate and cream colored vespercat gently butting it's head against the jelly jar. Chuckling a little, Binhdi reached down to scoop both up.
"Friendly little thing, aren't you? Mister," she addressed the teacher. "This the cat you're looking for?"
Blinking a little near-sightedly, the teacher looked up and smiled slowly.
"That's the one. Looks like she likes you, child."
Binhdi had to agree. The cat was purring and rubbing it's tiny face against her hand as well as the jar.
"Seems a shame to not keep her when she's so friendly. Thanks, mister!"
Taking the cat, Binhdi suddenly found herself hoping that Amasis wouldn't act out in jealousy when she finally ended up going back to her room.

There weren't many other games that she hadn't tried at this point, and Sorren didn't want to repeat herself. No she wanted to win new and exciting games. She walked around for a bit until she finally spotted a new game. It was a shooting game, and while she had played other shooting games this one had obstacles that you had to be careful not to hit. She wasn't horrible at it like she was the first game, but she wasn't all that good either. She won a thing of marbles, but that wasn't enough for her. She wanted more.
That was definitely comforting. Zey would hate to get out into the world only to realize that zey had a sub-par education. That would have been a frightening thing, indeed. As for tolerance...zey had a little trouble with that idea. "Is there really that much...conflict out there? I thought we were all pretty united by the...by the war."
"Thank you," zey said. Zalir patted the goat plush on the head. "If you're sure..." Zey proceeded to the next booth, a simple ring toss game. Zey picked up the ring and tossed it gently in the direction of the posts.
=======
The ring hit the pole, but it did not go around. "That's a leaner," the Nightmare behind the booth said with a nod. "That means you get to select one of these prizes." They pointed to a shelf of glowing jar necklaces. "Unless you want another go."
"No, thank you," zey said. Zalir pointed to a peach-colored necklace. "Um, may I have that one?"

Arden came down to the party, having taken his times in hopes it would mellow out slightly. He didn't mind crowds, but even the most social of creatures had to admit a thinning party was easier to breathe in than a crowded one. The celebration was still going strong though and the Chimera tucked his wings close to his body as he tried to part the crowds and find a good spot to stand and survey. Not many of the faces were familiar to him and most seemed to have already grouped off.
Finally breaking through the ocean of bodies, he stood near the wall and ran his fingers through his hair, floofing it back to it's desired height. "Sure a lot of Nightmares," he said out loud to no one in particular, noticing the amount of Freshlings in the crowd too.
Losing roll.

Vaden shrugged. "There are still old rivalries that no amount of Demon interference is going to put to rest." he said simply. "Yes, Sovereign's Vow is seen as The unifying document, but honestly it just got the races to agree on a few key points like open trade, a unified standard of currency, banned some of the more...troublesome magics, and then some things about how many troops each race would contribute to a united armed force, and how many troops they're allowed to have in their own personal territory at any given time." he waved a hand and then returned it to behind his back clasped in the other. "What I'm sure they don't teach you is that several races had to be forcibly pressured into signing the Vow, and some couldn't be bothered at all, like the Chimera. As for the war..." he sighed and shrugged one shoulder. "The Demons forced the Grimm into the war. The Grimm had no interest in the affairs of Demons and anyone who tells you otherwise is a braggart and a liar, not to mention the Chimera refused to get involved. A fact that still upsets some Baphomet, and honestly if they had gotten involved in the Crown theater, it may have shortened the war by several years. Frankly a great many races were willing to let the Demon's drown in the mess they'd created themselves. If the Daydreams hadn't bombed Alycone or Valir..." he shook his head and trailed off realizing how much he'd rambled on. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to go on and on." he said high color slightly rising to his cheeks.
He then realized it was his turn and he took the hoop and tossed it towards the poles.
===============
The ring clattered just a touch short and onto the floor. Vaden made a slightly annoyed face but it passed quickly and he took a deep breath his composure returning.
"It would seem it is not my day." he said turning towards the Litch. "Shall we continue on?" he asked.
She smiled and did up the clasp on his, "Really suits you, these are such a lovely idea. Have you had much luck at the fair? what prizes have you managed to get?"
Edit: "Oh Also... Doyou still collect plushies?" She presents:
