Mathias groaned along with Kait,"Rear guard...ugh."
He had been hoping to get into the center of combat, to really show off what he could do. Oh well. Will knew what he was doing and Mathias didn't feel comfortable trying to take charge away from his friend, training in leadership and battlefield tactics or no. he unlimbered his shield and loosened his sword in its scabbard at his belt,"Whatever you say, Will. We'll keep your backs covered!" He grinned and winked.

Drustwn was already gearing for the operation before Will began doling out jobs for everyone. His katana slipped into its sheath sewn into the inside of his long coat, while a straight, crossguarded blade was belted over his coat to jut its handle over his left shoulder. A quiver of arrows peaked over his other shoulder as well as a short bow that tucked into the straps. As Will spoke, Drustwn was busy sliding small metallic darts up into his sleeves. This wouldn't be the first time he had infiltrated into a clandestine facility, and it was always good to be prepared. He patted his horse affectionately before turning to regard his assigned team mates,"Kiro goes first, as he has knowledge of this group and the possible layout of this facility. I will be right behind him."

(( Sorry there will be a lot of talking in this one. Kiro just needs to explain some things before they all go in there. As he explains, the base is a large hotel in the middle of a regular village so they can't just storm in there without being noticed first (aka try not to jump ahead inside). ))

Kiro did not speak much on the long ride. He only made short, vague responses to questions about Axis since many of the answers even he did not know. It was early evening and about a two days journey since they had left the Corps. Just as the group paused before reading their destination, William had assigned everyone to a job during the battle. The large raid group was positioned about a mile and a half north of Danaliag now, close to swift striking distance.

Kiro nodded to William’s choices of action and then dismounted and faced his company to go over last minute game plan. “I thank you all for coming with me and helping out with this issue that is not your own, but there are some important things you should know before we storm in to this base.” Kiro started.

“First, since we are about to make siege to an Axis base, you need to know what kind of bases Axis has. They first have basic operations bases, in Danaliag for example, where they have information sheds, room and board for members, and medical ward. Second, there are experiment facilities where they create and train new Series or test making and controlling fiends. These facilities are in desolate safe areas most of the time. Unfortunately for us, this facility is different. Axis only has two main bases with one being on this continent. And again unfortunately for us, this experiment facility is located inside this main Axis base located two miles north of Danaliag.” Kiro stated very specifically and emphasized the bad news.

“The Axis main base on this continent is cleverly hidden as well. From the outside, it merely looks like a small village. The village is home to regular citizens, but Axis is kept secret behind it’s walls, posing as a large hotel. It’s hard to believe, but it’s an excellent cover.” Kiro continued explaining as he paced back and forth.

“And you must all keep in mind that Axis has members just as diligent and skillful as we do. We also don’t know how many of them are currently in there. The most important thing about engaging in battle with members of Axis is that each member mainly travels and battles with a partner. Even if there is a large group of them, they are still grouped together in twos and always watch each other’s backs.” Kiro explained carefully.

“As they work in twos, there is often one attacker and one defender. Try to decipher as soon as possible who the attacker and who the defender is. The defender’s job is to not just defend, but to distract and to setup kill shots for the attacker. So, be careful.” Kiro stated in order to warn his companions of what to expect.

Kiro then turned away from his fellow allies to face the direction of their target. “And one last thing.” Kiro spoke over his shoulder. “If you end up fighting AAX10 or FAX9, just try to die gracefully, alright?” Kiro mentioned bluntly.

"Well, then it's probably important for us to work together to break them up also. If we can keep both members of each team occupied and unable to assist each other." Digo said.
"Vitally important, in fact." TJ said. "If they come at us the only two smart options are to either run, or to hit them as hard as you can as fast as you can."
"What do you mean die gracefully?" Matt asked, clearly insulted. "If this guy's as badass as you seem to think he is then that's just all the more incentive for me to take him on."
TJ looked at Matt with something akin to pity.
"Can we just get on with this?" Gene asked. "Enyo is still in there somewhere waiting for us."

((Azure. You lead and we'll follow.))

"Yes, we must get back Enyo before they use her to create a Series." Kiro answered Gene. "Let's go." He added and then drew both his katanas and jumped immediately into a sprint towards the village with his companions behind him.

The moment Kiro and the others reached the village, something already felt wrong. There were no people and it was extremely quiet. It was like a ghost town except all of the buildings were brand new. "Yeah, this doesn't feel right..." Kiro whispered. The village was made up of many houses and structures. The outermost ones were made of fine wood, which had front decks with awnings over them. The buildings closer to the center were made of fine brick, each with windows only on the front and back of them. "There are usually people here. Its supposed to make the town look to be completely legitimate... But I don't see anyone." Kiro commented quietly.

Kiro knelled down beside one of the buildings and crept along the side of it quickly. It felt odd to him trying to sneak around at this point with a huge battalion of warriors behind him inside a ghost town.

(( Basically, a fairly large town. Expect a surprise soon. Just making sure everyone else is up to date with the posts. ))

Hiro breathed a sigh as the speech continued. It seemed his first mission in the corp. was going to be a high risk one. Not exactly what he had in mind when he signed up, but he was excited none the less. He listened carefully to the important fact of the attacker and defender and the dangerous series. As they moved into the town which was quieter than a grave, it made him uneasy.

"So how do we know which is the AAX10 and FAX9 from the others?" he whispered. It was safe to assume the ones who would be batting them left and right meaning the insanely stronger ones, but if that was how they were going to know, that wasn't much time to adjust tactics.

Hiro gripped his staff tightly and moved lightly on his feet. Keeping his eyes and ears peeled for anything suspicious, he slowed his breathing and mentally prepared himself as best he could.

"Something must have changed." Will said quietly. "Maybe they don't think they need to hide anymore. Or they're expecting us. I'd honestly be kind of surprised if they didn't think that we'd come back for Enyo."
"I don't like this." TJ whispered. "If they know we're coming then we're probably walking into a trap. And there's no way we can sneak in with a group like this. If we did break into smaller groups we might be able to sneak around, but it would destroy our formation and make it easier for them to pick us off."
"Right on all counts." Gene said. "Which means that all we can really do is keep our formation and walk in. Keep your eyes open for anything that could be hostile and stay alert."
Gene unslung his bow and set an arrow to the string, holding it low. This proved to be the signal to the rest and everyone began readying their weapons. Will placed a hand on the hilt of his sword, ready to draw at a moments notice. Matt merely flexed his fists, readying the blades on his knuckles. TJ readied her shield on her left arm and prepared a crossbow in her right hand. Isaac readied his flintlock and held his glaive in his other hand. Sven simply took his hands out of his pockets. Kait readied a set of daggers. Malkin's concealed form shifted beneath his enveloping cloak and the tips of a pair of curved swords could be seen peeking out underneath the hem. Digo loosened up, preparing to react as was called for, though he had no weapons.

Mathias listened intently to Kiro's words, and felt the little worm of fear wriggle in his gut. Die gracefully? Naw, Kiro had to be joking... right?
Before he knew it they were going into the town. It was so quiet, like no one lived there. It put him on edge, and he eased his blade in its scabbard before fingering the hilt nervously, sticking to his assigned place at the rear.

Drustwn ghosted behind Kiro as they entered the faux village. He had drawn his katana, but left his other blade sheathed. His eyes scanned this way and that intently, never stopping at one place too long. He even looked up near the roof tops from time to time in the hopes of noticing any spotters that might be watching. His eyes narrowed and he growled deep in his throat. Kiro was right...they were walking into a trap.
"Kiro... If Axis uses set attack patterns in their training, best share them now..."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 02, 2013 11:58 pm

Before Kiro could respond to any last minute questions, he heard a very familiar noise. The noise of cracking, splintering wood as sharp metal pierced through it. The house Kiro was hiding behind suddenly crashed apart as several metal spikes darted through it and at him. “Move!” Kiro shouted in time, jumping away from the collapsing building.

At the same moment, small swirling lines under the ground protruded silently around Drustwn, where two cobras had revealed themselves and attempted to strike Drustwn with their venomous fangs.

On top of all of this, a large number of steel tipped arrows began raining down on the group of guardians and hunters in sequence to the other two attacks.

In addition to avoiding the spikes and the collapsing building, Kiro cartwheeled and flipped away from the falling arrows and took cover underneath one of the building awnings.

“Everyone! Stay in your groups!” Kiro shouted. “Find the enemies and cover each other! Drustwn, Matt, and William, follow me!” Kiro commanded and began to lead the way to the hotel.

Inside a dark room there were three individuals crowded around each other in a circle. “It appears it has begun.” A young man with brown hair and eyes stated. He shifted his weight and tightened the tie he was wearing along with his white shirt and dress pants to match.

“It has.” A very skinny looking boy replied. His black hair was fairly long and covered his face. “We will look after the battle from here.” He added.

“Yes, be sure to concentrate you two.” A young girl spoke. She has white hair down to her shoulders with light green eyes and a black bow in her hair. She also wore a blue dress with white trim frills on the ends.

“Our progress is dependent upon your predictions and the progress of the battle. Do not fret, Oiva.” The skinny black haired boy answered. “Ugene and I are the best combination as it is and with you with us, we are unbeatable.” He added, while referring to the other young man with them.

“Fate is still undecided. We must be wary, Zero.” Oiva replied to the skinny male.

Hiro reflexively moved at the command and vaulted away before the spikes had pierced completely through the building. Tumbling away he pushed off with his right hand and landed on his feet. Taking cover behind one of the standing buildings, he could hear the sound of arrows embedding themselves in the wood. "Looks like the trap is sprung." he muttered.

Kiro shouted for them to remain in their groups. Looking around he moved when the archers were reloading to avoid being turned into a porcupine. Finding the others, he was to remain and protect them while they did their job. "Heh, some welcome huh?"
PostPosted: Fri Jan 04, 2013 2:29 pm

Will dove to one side and drew his sword as he rolled. He quickly caught up with Kiro and Drustwn, his eyes darting about paying close attention to his peripheral vision.
When the attack came Matt merely threw up one arm to protect his eyes from the flying splinters. He glanced about at the other two groups.
"Hell if I'm gonna let them pick off our people." He said, his brow furrowed into an expression of seriousness.
That said Matt's hands both burst into brilliant red flames. He grabbed his hammer off its hook on his belt and it, too, lit into flames. He uncoiled the chain around his waist and clipped one end to the ring at the end of the hammers handle. The chain also burst into flame.
"Hide in this!" Matt called out.
He threw his hammer at the wall of one of the buildings. The heavy weapon smashed through the wall, breaking wood and plaster and setting aflame everything it touched.
Matt gave a powerful yank on the chain and his hammer came sailing through the air back to him. He reeled in the chain, stepped back as the hammer came to him, pivoted, and sent it flying at the opposite building. It again smashed through the wall and set the building on fore.
Matt again pulled his hammer back to himself, though this time he caught it.
He took off at a run to catch up with the rest of the Advance Group. As he ran he unclipped the chain and set his hammer back on its hook on his belt and coiled the chain around his left forearm and fist.
The Support Group grouped up. Gene and TJ held their bows nocked and ready to fire at anything that moved that wasn't one of their people. Isaac likewise held his flintlock at the ready, though he had his glaive prepared should he need it also. The group as a whole followed after the Advance Group.
Bringing up the rear was the Rear Guards. Malkin did not even react to the sudden attack as far anyone else could see. He simply turned after the Support Group and followed, the tips of his weapons still peeking out from under the hem of his cloak. Kait reacted violently, dropping into a low crouch with both daggers held at the sides ready to be sent sailing through the air. She scanned their surrounding quickly and, seeing no immediate enemies, darted to catch up with Malkin. Digo also reacted violently, though his reaction was to grab his top with one hand, and his pants with the other, and pull. His clothes came off with a series of snapping buttons. Now clad only in his loincloth he looked quite harmless, though his demeanor gave off a sense of comfortable confidence, as though he were better armed naked than a man in armor. Digo, too, rushed to catch up with the others, all of them following Kiro's lead.

Mathias thought he heard what sounded like some kind of impact and splintering wood. Before he could react he heard Kiro yelling something just before arrows began to fall from the sky. He quickly jerked his shield up over his head to deflect a few well placed arrows as he dragged his sword from it's sheath. He heard Will yell to stay in formation and followed suit, keeping to the rear to guard their backs, eyes darting back and forth as his heart hammered wildly in his chest.

Drustwn tipped his head down to let the brim of his hat protect his eyes. As he did so, he saw the cobras and muttered a curse, dropping low and spinning, his katana flashing out to behead the foul serpents. He didn't wait even a moment before leaping away after Kiro. The awning Kiro had chosen would do...for about two seconds,"Do you have a direction?" he asked Kiro as he slipped his blade into his coat and unlimbered his bow, already nocking an arrow to the string.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2013 3:12 am

((I will probably reveal some of their names and rankings during the fight, but I thought it would be easiest for everyone if I put down who is who before hand because there are so many characters.))

“I know the way.” Kiro replied with haste as he dashed out from the cover of the awning before it collapsed due to the damage from a pelting of so many arrows. Kiro headed far right down the street and then turned inwards towards the city center. He expected the Advance Group to keep up with him under the attack.

The rain of arrows finally stopped, as the first attack seemed to have failed for Axis. It was quiet until a voice broke in, “Your small group broke through our attack, but it has kept the rest of you here to die.” A males voice spoke. He came out of a dark ally along with two others. The man had short black hair, white dress shirt and pants along with a tie. He appeared to be unarmed(Xin-XAX9). “I applaud your survival though.” He complimented, clapping quietly.

The two females behind him were both fairly short and slender. One had brown hair and eyes with a black corset top, white and black striped arm warmers, and tan jeans. She was armed with a bow that had sharp blades on the outside limbs of the bow(Megan-MAX5). The other female had black hair with red dyed tips and blue eyes. She was slightly taller than the other women next to her and wore black leggings and top with a dress that appeared to be made of loose blades that hung from her every inch. She was dragging a chain behind her that had a sword smelted to the end(Hfie-HAX6).

“They won’t be alive for long.” A women’s voice chimed in as she exited the building directly next to the one, which had previously collapsed. Her long black hair swayed in front of her eyes as she glared at the intruders. She was dressed in an all black dress that was slightly shorter in the front, exposing her legs. In both hands she duel-wielded two swords connected by chains(Sjana-SAX10).

One after another more enemies began revealing themselves. Two figures appeared to be on top of one of the further away buildings on the same street and jumped off the second floor to land with a loud thud in the middle of the street. One was a bald man who was very well built and was shirtless and wearing no shoes. Only blue shorts(Gear-GAX5). The other man was fairly large as well, with short black hair and brown eyes. He wore a black shirt and pants and held enormous scimitars in both hands(Phear-PAX9).

“I guess we have to take up the frontal assault now!” A deep, manly voice shouted very enthusiastically as she punched through a brick wall and appeared into the open street with the rest. He was tall and had spikey white hair. He had a very massive muscular body, which was also deformed in many ways. He had large curved horns on his head, golden eyes with slits in them, a large nose and ears as well as other odd features resembling beasts and animals. He was also shirtless and wore blue pants with sandals(Rhino-RAX cool .

Stepping carefully through the rubble from the destroyed wall behind the beast man was a woman who joined him. She had short black hair with brown eyes and was a very well developed woman. She wore blue short shorts and a white top that exposes her slim, fairly muscular stomach. She held at her waist to small double-sided daggers(Nhea-NAX cool .

The positioning of each member of Axis was planned. They had revealed themselves to the intruders in a way in which halfway surrounded them in addition to the surprise attack.

“The number of intruders in your prediction were incorrect, Oiva.” Zero commented.

“Sometimes predictions are fuzzy or off by a small margin. Most of the information is correct.” Oiva defended herself.

“A small margin can be the different between victory and defeat.” Zero countered, raising his voice.

“Silence, both of you.” Ugene thought telepathically to both Zero and Oiva to put an end to their quarrelling. “Concentrate on the battle and how to issue battle tactics to our forces.” He added.

“It is about to begin…” Oiva spoke quietly.

Gene barely hesitated even a moment as the Axis members showed themselves. He raised his bow and fired, drawing and nocking a second arrow while the first was still in flight. The arrow flew true towards the face of the last one to appear, the large-breasted woman.
"Don't gawk, attack!" Gene snapped.
TJ followed suit and fired at the first one that had appeared. She then reached down and drew a bolt from one of the special quivers strapped to her thighs and set it to her crossbow.
Isaac pocketed his flintlock, it was slow to reload and he thought he might need it more later. Instead he took his halberd in two hands and prepared to defend.
Will raised his nodachi in a two handed grip over his shoulders and across his body, a defensive position. He kept his attention on his peripheral vision, watching for Kiro's next move.
Matt simply flexed his hands, also preparing to move at whatever enemy seemed unoccupied once the fracas truly began.
Kait readied a second dagger and Malkin simply gazed impassively from beneath within his cowl.
Digo's reaction to the appearance of so many enemies was probably the most impressive, possibly even more so than Gene's. He began to change. His flesh literally crawled and bubbled. His entire body grew in size, more than twice over. His musculature increased drastically until he was layered in bulging muscles. His skin hardened and cracked into tough sharp looking dark green scales. His elongated slightly into a reptilian muzzle and his mouth filled with pointed teeth. He sprouted a sturdy tail on which the scales protruded like short spikes. Lastly his hands and feet grew dark pointed claws.
When the transformation was complete Digo had taken the form of a large, muscular, man-reptile.

Hiro moved as another building was at the verge of collapse which finally came down from the assault. He met up with his group as members of Axis began to reveal themselves. One by one they made themselves known. Hiro had to admit they were a diverse bunch and wondered what sort of abilities they had.

Suddenly Gene fired first followed by TJ signaling that the next fight was now underway. He gripped his staff waiting for the enemy to make their move. He could not leave his group. It was his job to not let the enemy get to them while they did their job and that was to put as many holes in the enemy as possible. However he he knew it would be far from simple.

Mathias took a slightly sideways stance, shield held up at the ready with his sword pointed forward held at shoulder level. His eyes darted from one enemy to the next, wondering which would choose to come at them first. Some of these Axis guys looked pretty formidable, but Mathias got the feeling that some of the less intimidating ones would be more dangerous. He felt sweat dripping from his brow, and his fingers worked the hilt of his sword nervously...

Drustwn was already drawing his bowstring when Gene let fly his arrow. Drustwn narrowed his eyes and sighted down the shaft before releasing his shot towards the woman with the bow. From Kiro's earlier lecture, Drustwn guessed she would be one of the Axis members to hang back and harry and distract the group to let their heavy hitters get close. The arrow had barely left the string before he was drawing another and letting that fly as well,"Choose your targets carefully! Don't wade into this battle chaotically!" he yelled.
