Hmm... I suppose I need to provide an explanation to why I'm holding this art contest. Well, I'm an artist myself and always adored pretty art pieces. Sadly I'm not a good enough artist to satisfy my art whore side's needs. Therefore, I sold pretty much all my inventary and got together some fairly decent prizes for all the great artists out there. I hope that by doing this, I can help both myself and the artists who participate in my art contest. Thank you for reading this, and please enjoy this contest. heart

Rules are made for a reason. I bold texted the important parts of each rules to make it easier for fast readers. Rule breakers will receive a warning in this thread, and will be blacklisted if the warning is disregarded. I don't want to be mean, so please follow the rules.

Rules

exclaim Please do not criticise others' work. Giving nice comment is ok, but don't be unpleasant or give excess advice on improvement. I consider them rude.

exclaim Absolutely NO ART THEFT! I believe this rule apply to every other art contests. If you detect art theft, please report to me in this thread! Who knows, you may get a reward...=D

exclaim I don't want any "bumping machines" in my art contest. A bump once in a while is okay, but I can't stand looking at a page full of nothing but bumps! Control your bumps!

exclaim It may seem unfair, but I'm the only judge of this art contest. Judging can be hard work, so please do not complain when the result is out.

exclaim No begging or advertising is allowed in this thread! Putting a link here for exchange is the only form of advertising I allow.

exclaim Be mature. Nothing can be more tiring than people who act like little kids and jerks. What I'm asking is to behave yourself in this thread.

More Rules

arrow Please don't submit hentai pictures. I'm okay with them but you know... they make judging harder. Light nudity is allowed.

arrow Artist can submit as many picture as they want, but I would like to let winning artists to win only once so everyone have more chance of winning... but meh =P

arrow This is an art contest, I don't accept edits, pixels, banners, etc as entries.

arrow Any kind of medium is allowed. Pencils, CG, charcoal, paint... You name it! As long as it's not stolen or anything, it's eligible to enter and win!

arrow Post your entry in this thread! Do not pm them to me! I will post the entries in the entry section of this thread as soon as I can, but I'm starting university, so please bear with me if I'm late... crying

arrow Before every category, there will be a short description of each character, please read them carefully and keep the description in mind while drawing.

Q&A

FAQ

Q: When does this contest end?
A: I've decided to end this contest on May 20th, 2006. Hopefully the entry number will reach at least 20 for each section at this time. Of course, the date can be changed. (school out in May too, easier for me XD)

Q: How do you judge the entries?
A: I must say that the artists' skill is the most important aspect I'll be looking for. After that comes the picture layout. These can be disregarded(well...not completely) if you're creative enough though XD

Q: Can I change the Ragnarok Online characters' clothes?
A: I'd prefer you didn't, but if you draw them wearing modern clothes that'd be interesting. XD However I do demand the head gears. Otherwise nobody would know them...

Q: Head gear? Is that fish on top of Arsinoe considered a head gear?
A: Of course it is! XD It's the trademark of Arsinoe because it's the sole and only fish in the game server...*is proud*
If you really don't like it you can just put the fish somewhere in the picture, that'd be ok too =3

Q: Why are you called dead fish anyways?
A: Because my Chinese name(Szuyu, pronounced Siyu) sounds like dead fish in Chinese, so I've been called dead fish since elementary school. I hated this name at first, but now I'm quite fond of it =w=+

Q: Are we allowed to do collabs?
A: Yes! >w< If you won with a collab, I'll be sending the prize to one of the artists, so you better figure out how to share the pirze first =D

The first catagory is... my avatar! biggrin I want her to be drawn as a happy, outgoing little girl who is both innocent and mischievious. Any of the following avatars can be used, so get drawing and get that winged anklet! xd
I realize the scarfs cover the avatar's mouth, but I would prefer the mouth showing... Of course, if covered mouth looks better with the picture you have in mind, it can be hidden too ^_^

In this catagory, I want one of the above avatars to be drawn with one of the below avatar. Note, They are NOT lovers! So I don't want kissing on any part of the body except the cheeks. This avatar's personality is very withdrawn and stubborn. The girl avatar constantly bugs him (glomping, hugging, all that little girl stuff) and makes him mad, but he secretly enjoys her company very much heart
Again, I prefer the mouth showing. If possible, I want him to be drawn as a young boy too... as long as he's not drawn too mature or macho...

Section Two
RO Single

In Ragnarok Online sections, the clothing reference pictures are for the clothing styles only. The colours of the clothes may be different from the references, and the heads and hairstyle will certainly be different. Please keep that in mind and don't just draw the characters in the refernce pictures. sweatdrop Other than that, all my characters have more than one pets. The chacacters can be drawn with all the pets, either one, or none at all.

Arsinoe is my Ragnarok rogue/stalker. She has a very mature and attractive female body figure but her personality and behavior are as man-like as can be, with a bad-boy attitude. She is adventurous, forever optimistic, straight-forward, and confident, but she is also clumsy at times. Arsinoe enjoys fighting monsters, grinning, threatening random people, and molesting her pets.
Arsinoe has a pet isis named Cassandra, a pet bongun named Ran, and a pet munak named Gratitude.
Arsinoe has brown hair and extremely light, greyish purple eyes.
Weapons: Dagger or Bow&Arrow, but a whip would be fun too XD

Rogue:

Echo is a magician/high wizard. She has the same personality as my gaia avatar... That is, a hyper, happy, innocent little girl. She enjoys running around laughing pointlessly(tripping now and then), playing with her pets, and glomping her RO sisters, who will appear in the next section.
Echo has a pet poison spore named Mushroom Head and a pet Baphomet Jr. named Elponer.
Echo has blue hair (I want her hair to be a bit darker than the picture shows) and light sky blue eyes.

Leveret is my acolyte/high priestess. Opposite to Echo, Leveret is very shy, quiet, gentle, and withdrawn. Other than that, Leveret is not good at talking with people and is afraid of strangers. She prefers to stay indoors and only goes outside if necessary. She enjoys reading books, playing with cute animals, and tying ribbons on her pets.
Leveret has a pet lunatic named Inaba and a pet picky named Petite Mystia.
Leveret has white hair with hints of purple and dark indigo eyes.
Weapons: book or staff

RO Group

In this catagory, I want any two or all three of the characters from section two in one picture. What they're doing is up to the artist, playing, chatting, fighting, making out...as long as you keep their original personalities I'm happy ^_^
Their pets can be included in the picture as well.

This is the catagory for my friends' characters to be drawn with mine. Every character has specific pairing, so read the writings carefully please.

Character 1: Rollaround
Rollaround is a knight. As you can probably tell from his name, he's not a serious type of person XD He does all sort of weird things that draw people's attention. He is also a severe loli-con, which means he's highly attracted to cute, underage little girls. That's why he enjoys running behind Leveret all day long... ninja
Rollaround has white hair and no specific eye colour.
Weapons: sword or spear

Can be drawn with:
Arsinoe > Rollaround is sort of like Arsinoe's slave... Arsinoe likes to beat Rollaround up =w=
Leveret > Rollaround, being a loli-con, sticks around Leveret a lot. Leveret is a bit afraid of him

Clothing Reference: Knight

Character 2: Elaine
Elaine is a high priestess. She changes her personality and appearance a lot to play tricks on her friends. She always appear to be very innocent and kind, but one seems to never know what she is really thinking about... Since she changes her appearance a lot, I picked out two of my favourite looks below, known as the pink princess and the cigar-smoking cuban gangster XD
Elaine has platium blonde hair and ice blue eyes.
Weapons: staff

Can be drawn with:
Arsinoe > Elaine is Arsinoe's childhood friend and they travel together. They fight often though.
Leveret > Elaine teaches Leveret to become a better priestess.

Clothing Reference: High Priest

Character 3 + 4: Tsuzu and Merryweather
Tsuzu, Echo, and Merryweather are sisters! Tsuzu, the lord knight, is the oldest, Echo is Tsuzu's identical twin, and Merryweather the high wizard is the youngest of the three.

Tsuzu spaces out a lot, is a bit slow at understanding what people say, and is confused half of the time, but if someone hurts Echo and Merryweather badly enough that she notices she will go into a tantrum and kill the people responsible on sight. XD and she won't remeber any of it afterwards. Tsuzu and Echo are incest yuri twin lolis who are deeply in love with each other (Romeo and Juliet style!) in a way not normal between siblings heart (if you're uncomfortable with that just draw them as ordinary sisters XD).
Tsuzu has the same hair colour as Echo but has dark brown eyes.
Weapons: sword or spear

Clothing Reference: Lord Knight

Merryweather, being the youngest and smallest, is extremely mature for her age and is sometimes even more capable than adults. She has two useless (...T__T) older sisters she has to take care of and complains a lot, usually things like "I'm too young for this... why do I have to do this..." But of course, she loves her sisters very much >w<
Merryweather has strawberry blonde hair and green eyes.
Weapons: staff

Clothing Reference: High Wizard

These three can be drawn two in a group (echo & tsuzu, echo & merryweather) or all three together. I'm looking forward to seeing interesting pictures from this section. xd

If you submit a WIP before May 27th 11:59pm, you get a 2~3 week extension to finish the WIP, but your entries will be added to this mini-contest instead. There are no categories
