4/13/05: Auction ended. All pearls save that and the six butterflies are now adults. I have promised to throw my weight behind chaeval for her quest, so more special beauties on the way. PLUS I have a breeding of my own to auction (the orange and black fire) and an edit of Gullien's. Oy.
4/12/05: Auction begins. Pearls hatching!
4/6/05: The flatsale will be at 8pm CST today (that makes it 6pm for the west coast, 9pm for the east!)
4/2/05: A special flatsale of ALL lineart edits by Myst is this wednesday. Cost will be 5k each. It will be followed by a cosplay auction.
3/4/05: Despite downtime caused by the housing release, the flatsale went off fairly well and five nimue have new homes! Now for the raffle!
3/2/05: Flatsale is TOMORROW AT 9PM CST
2/28/05: Gulli's auction is now over! Breeding for gen 1 nimue is open.
2/25/05: All names should be in by now. If yours isn't named, it can still mate, and will just be valnim#X on owner's list.
2/22/05: Any valentine nimue not named by Friday don't get names. I REALLY don't want to have to deal with naming these by the time easter has rolled around.

2/14/05: Valentine nimue are opening on a daily basis, one set/half set at a time. Set one is completely open. By Saturday evening, all of them should be. If you are in a set, and you post asking when your envelope will open, I shall smite you. Seriously. Do not ask until Sunday. If it isn't open by Sunday, you can ask. Is it Sunday? Iluffubutdon'task!

There are THREE breedings already done! That makes for uh...8 gen 2 nimue.

2/9/05: Breeding is sort of open. PLEASE read the entire soul sharing 2/1/05: Bumpers can now work for a valentine nimue. 20 bumps wins one, as long as they're at least 10 minutes apart. They don't have to be the same day or consecutive, as long as they're dated from today on. Valentine nimue won this way can be gifts.
1/31/05: Setting up to take orders for Valentine nimue, thanks to help from Kit Kiana. Check flatsale post for info. Also: XMAS NIMUE will be deleted from my photobucket acct. Friday! Artists, if you haven't already, you have my permission to do the same.
1/26/05: Making plans for an auction to take place as soon as I get the last of the pearls. This is a preceding event to breeding, to make life a little easier on some people. The nimue will be auctioned in pairs and quartets, with team bidding allowed.
1/24/05: Coloring contest is now over, judged, and winners announced. Much love for Mystaira, Gullien, Neev K and Damia Grynn! Plans are being made concerning the entrant colored nimue re: flatsale/auction/raffle.
1/8/05: New lineart has been delivered (Ty Crispety!). Coloring contest has begun, will end the 21st.
1/2/05: Some new lineart has been purchased. Waiting on file delivery. Artists pm Whisp with the owner list and names from SS!
12/27/04: SS orders are closed, updated breeding posts, debating lineart. Know any good artists taking commisions?
12/17/04:
SS Nimue orders will stop being taken on the 22nd, so people have five days to make their orders!

10. Nimue take anywhere from 5-10 days to hatch. Usually that's long enough for me to get time to DO IT. Should I for some reason not, please wait until it's been at least 10 days before pm'ing or posting about your nim.
11. Do not direct link after your pearl hatches. You have one week with an adult nimue before I take it down/move it/rename it. This also means I'm going to start weeding through the owner list.
12. Customs are a rare thing, either associated with a special event or a holiday (when they're most often gifts). If/when they're available, it will be posted. DO NOT ASK FOR THEM.
13. Do not ask or demand I pm your nimue to you. I don't _like_ pming people them and only do so on occasion because I dislike using the mule more. If you want your nimue, come to the thread.

GEN TWO NIMUE MAY NOT BREED UNTIL THERE IS AT LEAST FIFTY OF THEM (adult).
Breeding costs: 4k, plus 20% of the gold from any sold/auctioned pearls goes back to the shop. The 4k goes directly to the artist!

If you ask Everdark to run your auction for you, that percentage ups to 30%. If you ask Ed to handle disposal of items from said auction, the 30% comes from the final total, not the auction total. Be warned.

Because there are no male nimue (how would that even _happen?_), breeding is a bit odd for the species. There's also the whole having no actual organs and being primarily spirit made flesh.


In order to create a new generation, two nimue agree to give up parts of their own souls to create new ones. The sundered pieces hopefully will bind together in the form of new pearls.

However, they will not become one cohesive whole, or two. There are chances of up to SIX pearls. If that happens and the clutch exceeds four, the shop gets one. This is to make splitting the lot easier. And because the odds of it happening are tiny to begin with.

If there is a pearl clutch that large, the adults who bred will have given up a huge portion of their souls. They might reform into their own shells, separate from their daughters, as they try to heal.

Because of the soulloss, any nim needs to heal after a breeding. Therefore parent nimue cannot breed until their daughters hatch.

Each breeder gets TWO slots to take a pair of nimue. It is up to them to decide how many they want to work on at a time. They are not required to take ANY, nor will I force them to. There are plenty of people now to do the work.

Also: I know there are some nimue who are untagged still, or not named. As long as your nim is out of her pearl, she is breedable. biggrin

Breedings may take up to 10 days. You'll be warned if it runs long.

POST THE IMAGES OF YOUR NIMUE WHEN SEIZING A SLOT. Or at least post them after you have. The artists will need those.

Resident Artists

Dun have a banner for this yet either...

A Resident is an artist who does art for the shop often. They contribute to most auctions and flatsales. Basically they're about two steps away from this being a full time job for them. Most of them have other obligations on their time. Therefore their role with the nimue is on a "as you can" basis. They give nimue to the shop when they are able.

Rules for becoming a Resident artist:

1. Preferably have been a guest artist at least once, to favorable reviews.
2. With that, if you are/have been a guest artist and are interested in working more, pm Everdark.
3. The cut ratio is 70artist/30shop.

Guest Artists

A guest artist is a colorist who would like to do a cameo appearance in our shop. This would be a roughly one or two time thing, although it's possible for the person to do so more often.

If that happens, I would prefer the person to just apply as a Resident. (They get to do event stuff regularly and are allowed to handle their own auctions if they want...)

Rules to becoming a Guest:
1. Pm this acct with samples of your work.
2. Be polite and don't expect us to automatically say yes, regardless of how good you are. We may have enough art at a given time, or be glutted with it. If we tell you to try again in month, please do so. Or we may ask to hold your work until then.
3. Don't ask if you can color the lineart to show us how well you do unless we know you. I paid lottsa money for that art, with much help from friends. Thus, I am extremely protective of it.
