HOW I EDIT

Here’s the long and short of how I do my editing, because I get sick of explaining it over, and over, and over again. :”B

I use Photoshop CS2 and a 9x12 Aiptek Tablet. When editing, I use many, many layers, and use the pencil tool to pixel out the shapes before I lock the layers and shade them. I use a 1-pixel airbrush (varied between 0 and 50% hardness) and a 1-pixel brush set to 100% hardness. I tend to use 3-6 darker shades of the color for shadows, and 2-3 lighter colors for highlights. Sometimes, I’ll mess with the opacity settings on layers and brushes to get see-through effects. Tiny details are almost always done on their own layers.

Most of my recoloring is done with the color replacement tool set to “hue” or “color,” on a layer that I’ve set to “color.” I like to experiment with different settings, though. I also like to mess with the levels and color balance options in photoshop.
