Announcements

April 2nd, 2007--I've kind of become more addicted to Menewsha. So I might switch over there. I don't know. Also the semester is coming to a close so a lot of my own projects are starting to be due, and so it's kind of hectic. I'm not sure I'll be keeping this shop at all in the future, because of the lack of time. Sorry. crying '

March 18th, 2007--Auction got AB'ed. So, starting to work on those pieces atm. x.x' Lots to do between here and there.

March 11th, 2007--I realize Chi is spelled Chii now, but I'm not removing the poll. Oh well, too bad, I'm too lazy to change it, and in addition what I am curious about is not how to spell the name, but what exactly people prefer.

March 6th, 2007-- Auction started for sure for sure.

March 2nd, 2007--Midterms are coming so I might not be here as much this weekend and into Thursday. I have to cram a lot for my classes. But after Thursday I'll be back in a lot more. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Though some pieces I may no longer have because they were RL commissions or sent off due to my lack of space, if at any time you attempt to ban me for art because it looks "too similar" to something else, I want to challenge you. Do not ban my account. I have heard far too many horror stories about how people mis-report and a ban results and the ban is never removed even after overwhelming evidence is provided, because Gaia doesn't check mail and doesn't give a s**t. So first, do not ban. Please don't get trigger-happy, or you just deprive Gaians of free artwork. You can ban later if you disagree but at least give me a chance to prove to you. E-mail me (scarletstrath@yahoo.com). I will send you the link to the original art work, and then to my piece, and show you the differences as well as give you the email to the person that I was commissioned by if they will let me, and usually they will. That way you can figure it out. In addition, if that is not even satisfactory, give me 6 weeks time and pay for the shipping and handling and materials, and I will gladly repaint the piece. Although it may not be exact exact brushstroke for brushstroke, I CAN and WILL prove that I am the painter of every single piece I post as mine. On the pictures that I had ref. pictures for I noted that to the side and made sure to make differences so that one could tell the original from my own, and I will do that on every piece. I accept the challenge any day. You just gotta pay the materials and shipping if you are unwilling to accept the email and the reference pictures as sufficient evidence. (Only exception is on pieces larger than 12 x 16--those I might need additional time on just because it's more white canvas to cover.) I don't have many WIP's because it's stupid to try to shove wet canvas into a scanner..and also because my webcam is of horrible quality.

Art Requirements:
To save space and simplify, I put the basic rules down. Full clarification on rules can be found <<HERE>>. Though it is not mandatory that you read the full-fledged rules, it is highly suggested you read them, because whether you read them or not, I'm holding you accountable for the information on the full-clarified rules page. General gist of the rules is shortened here, but most of it is common sense.

1. I choose what I want to paint for anything not 8x10.
There are three types of paintings: 8 x 10's, Varied-Size paintings, and Special-Commissions.

8 x 10's are 8 inches by 10 inches and will be available through bumps. Generally speaking, there will be a few a month. So number your bumps/chats if you would like to work on obtaining a slot that way.

"Varied-Size" paintings are anything larger, smaller, or on a different surface (like...egg if I get bored) than usual.

"Special-Commission" slots are available through bribery. If you absolutely must get a painting, and you don't have time to bump, or it looks like there are others that might get the 8 x 10's, or whatever, then yes, you may on occassion bribe me. Kind of difficult, but doable. Where there's a will there's a way.

2. You cover the shipping and handling, and provide an address.
Shipping generally ranges from $10.00 to $15.00 USD. This is including the tube and insurance so I may go b***h at them if they lose it.

3. I do not do flat out plain, boring, avatar-art. I also don't do porn or furries (were-creatures). Nor will I do overcluttered OC's unless you really have a ref. for every item on there not just vague lists.

4. For all 8 x 10's, I do not expect nor accept tips.

5. Once in a blue moon, there will be one Special-Commission spot that might be bribe-able. It will be 12 x 16 or larger.

There is really almost no way I will do this under 450K.

Generally this is how these slots will go:
16 x 12.....Average.....450K + shipping & handling
16 x 12.....Complex.....500K + shipping & handling

16 x 20.....Average.....600K + shipping & handling
16 x 20.....Complex.....750K + shipping & handling

24 x 36.....There is no "avg" this is prolly complex.....1 mil or higher, depends. Also, shipping & handling is needed.

Rules for Behavior:
Please do not break these ruels.

1. I do not paint anything I can't mail off.
I feel that if I put in the time and effort and money (yeah, paints and canvas cost), you should at the very least, out of consideration, accept the painting.

If you want art that is gorgeous, sparkly, cute, and online, though, feel free to visit the links section? You won't be disappointed. Not only are the shops full of beautiful, shiny, adorable, sexy little things, but they're priced at a sane price such that someone who runs a freebie shop AND has to attend college is still able to find gold via bumping to pay for em.

2. Do not beg, spam, advertise excessively, or troll this thread, please.
If there's something you wanted me to post, like a sales or some other event, then that's fine.

3. If you win a slot, you may only GIFT it--no reselling.
You may not sell the slot unless I agree with you cause you're dirt poh or have a really excellent cause. You may NEVER auction that slot, because it is not my intentions to auction regular.

4. Take it or lose it.

5. If I choose not to paint you don't take it personally and be bitter and pissy and all emo-angst about it.

8 inch by 10 inch slots are available to people who reach 500 bumps or whose ideas sound like fun. The reason there are different numbers and sizes of slots is because if there are finals or midterms, I might want to do fewer. Yes, one person may win all the slots. No, I will not open more slots if all of them were taken by one person.

1. 12 x 16 Original Character--Befu
Status:
Started.

Notes:
OC request. It will combine realism and what mess is in my head. Since the only limitations on this were red hair, blue eyed, bust-up, it leaves me a lot of space to play and to flaunt. smile I think this will probably be pretty amazing once done.

Expected Deadlines:
I hope to have most of the paint down by the beginning of March. This may take me longer because there is a lot of detailed work I wish to do with this piece, as it will become one of my new highlighted pieces (cause I've got this awesome idea for it). This should allow me to take webcam pictures of it. Varnish should take maybe a week or two to dry. Then it should be good to go. So maybe 6-7 weeks hopefully. Then I can mail.

2. 12 x 16 Landscape--Befu
Status:
Started.

Notes:
Originally this was to be an 8 x 10. However, I like the idea and Ms. Befu is kind enough to cover the shipping so I'm going to do a larger painting so that I can capture more detail. This is of some island place Befu likes. It is based off another picture she sent. Instead of the two girls wearing grey and pink I will have them wear white and pink, because the grey fades into the road.

Expected Deadlines:
Final paint should be done beginning of March. Varnish should be dry Mid-March. Should be mailable around then.

3. 16 x 20 Message In The Sands--Giftart
Status:
Will start after I am closer to done with #3.

Notes:
This is for a 6 month anniversary. So it will be before the deadline but was asked to keep it a little secret surprise.

Expected Deadlines:
It should be done March also.

4. Probably a 16 x 12 inch--2 Portrait-Style, formal wedding scene for LadyDelaidra.
Status:
Will start in March.

Notes:
They agreed to covering shipping if it is deemed worth covering. It will be. blaugh But I am still waiting for photos of the groom's tux.

Like the previous wedding portrait, I expect this to be a showcase piece for portraits. So, it may take a while. But it will be damn good. smile Just... >.>'...I don't like the bajillion blue flowers. >.<' So...maybe trying to negotiate on that. Blue flowers look so depressing. =/ I don't like stuff like that in wedding pictures cause it's like..foreshadowing and stuff. I don't like. =/ Must change. Blue flowers is sad. Nope nope.

I know this is many links. But I am making this link page because I am saving you the trouble of having to look up so many shops! smile These are some of the most beautiful yet reasonably priced art shops I have found so far. That is not to say there are not others, nor that some of these aren't over 20K, but on the other hand, some of these gorgeous shops are free. All of these shops I felt, had very beautiful work. I will promise to do at least a biweekly cleaning of this section to try to tone it down--I will remove links to shops that appear to be permanently closed to try to save you guys troubles. smile The numbering system is in no way related to the quality of any particular shop; all the shops are wonderful or I wouldn't bother posting them. The numbering system is to allow me to more easily sort through the banners and pick out the inactive sites fast and replace them.

I've been stalking this thread ever since I saw the words "oil paintings" at the top of the first post. I was actually wondering if you would be interested in an art trade? You can find some of my traditional art on my website link. Although I'm not precisely up on the same level that you are, I'd like to think that I'm not too horrible, either.

I have a very specific idea for a painting, but I would feel most comfortable shooting reference photos for it. Though there is a portrait that I'd also be interested in having painted; it's a bit simpler than my other idea, but you can find it here.

What kind of art trade? May I request the art trade be a gift for someone else? smile There's a very nice lady whom I'd love to send something to. Her name on Gaia is Skutt.

Mostly I just need to know what you wanted me to paint? =) If you want me to just paint the picture you linked I'll get started on it. If there's a different idea, lemme know? Considering that it's 1:30am here - I doubt that a written explanation would be very understandable. Heh. I'm actually up trying to finish art school applications. Er, there's a photo shoot that I was planning to do soon anyway, self-portraits, and there's something I had planned for it that I think would make a nice painting. Unspecific as I could possibly get, I know, but- I'll just do some shots tomorrow and upload them. It'll be easier than trying to make sense of my explanations. My mind starts fleeing around midnight. D:

As far as a trade - I'd be more than happy to swap originals, and I could do a painting or drawing for you in the medium of your choice. My gallery is fairly up-to-date as far as my drawing abilities go. My painting's jumped up several notches since the last one I stuck up in there, so I can photograph the acrylic WIP I have right now and show you that tomorrow as well. Subject would be up to you too.
