Looking back, it didn't really surprise you that you had gotten so lost. Your sense of direction has never been the keenest, though, you were beginning to regret leaving the house without checking the battery of your cell phone.

This had all started, you concluded, with the arrival of the letter. One distinct from all of your other mail, in it's shear indistinctness. A soft pink envelope holding an off white card marked with a broken heart. The writing inside was a bit odd. Whomever had written the thing had a bizarre talent for making a standard invitation to a newly opening restaurant sound both surreal and enticing. You hadn't thought half the words used could describe anything involving a cafe before. With more thought you realized that some of them probably shouldn't have been either. Also, you couldn't help but wonder if you had in fact heard of the Heartbreak Cafe before. Curiouser and curiouser...

The directions given hadn't been much help. They merely told you to come to the market district with the mysterious invitation in your possession. The map included looked as though it had been drawn by a five year old and you had gotten odd looks from everyone you had asked on the subject. Still... you supposed you couldn't call the excursion completely pointless. There was a lovely melody in the air. A medley of chattering children and whispering lovers; a lilting love song played gently on violin intertwining with the deep tones of the blues played on acoustic guitar. And the lovely fresh scent of warm tea and cooling fruit pies.

You pause as the new scents reach your nose, and turn. Where once was an alley stands a brick building with the same broken heart design on it's door as the one on the letter in your pocket. Above it is a simple sign denoting the building as The Heart Break cafe. The door opens but you see no one behind.

"Welcome young master. Won't you come in from the cold for a few moments and join us for some tea?"

Hello and welcome to our annual user-run Valentine's Day event, the Heartbreak Cafe! I am your devilish hostess, Yeata Zi, taking over for our usual host Mississippi Black Velvet. Bare with me, because I am usually the one supervising the cafe, not overseeing the whole shebang! I mean, these heels are hard to walk in and without an apron, I'm probably going to spill a cafe drink all over my evening gown. I don't know how Miss Black did it.

Our theme this year is Cold Hands, Warm Hearts, so please come in from the freezing winter weather and warm your hearts with a hot drink from our cafe! Our staff is composed of a wonderful group of diligent people who will see to your every need during your stay.

So sit back, order a drink, play some games, and please remember to tip your waiters and waitresses!

Hallo, hallo! And welcome to the Heart Break Cafe!
For those of you who are joining in the fun for the first time this year, here is a brief introduction. We are a unique group of individuals who have been coming together every Valentine's day and Halloween to cosplay and share sweets with the people for the last few years.

We are with the D-party! We're Gaia's only political group, and we support Gaia's only president, President Diedrich! Because "party" is in our name, we try to have as much fun as possible! That's why we're here at the Heart Break Cafe! We are here to party, and we are here to party hard!

Did you know that many years ago, when Diedrich first created the Gaia Online, he set aside Valentine's Day to be the day that he drove all of the snakes out of Ireland. On this day of remembrance, Gaians usually trade mad libs to one another endlessly as a representation of the ouroboros to commemorate the snakes that were lost that day. Such a tragedy. Diedrich knew he should repent for his crimes, so he made Valentine's Day about love!

We have the President to thank for so many things! We love you, Diedrich!

Bells are ringing. Doves are flying in the sky. And people are cheering as well as throwing rice at the newly couple weds. Since this is the month of love and Gaia is having its anniversary for the Wedding feature, the HBC likes to celebrate this festivity to the married couples.

To celebrate the married couple, draw a fanart of the married couple. It can be two NPCs, a Gaian and a NPCs, or two Gaians in their wedding outfits. It can be a romantic image, a funny scenario image, or a honeymoon image. However, there are some rules to follow:

I bring to you a contest for your pens
For this is a very important date.
Let me tell you all the rules, then:

Your common task is to write a letter
Addressed to an NPC of your choice --
Yes, this is for both lovers and haters.
Now let me tell you what you have to voice:

Lovers, defend your idols from all scorn
Tell them they're so much well-beloved despite.
Haters, talk to the f*ckers (hate so sworn!!)
Tell them they're so much remembered in spite.

For Valentine's is all about l'amour,
May the odds be ever in your favor!

Write a letter of any length to any NPC, whether you like them or you hate them. Yes, there will be two categories: Letter from a Fan and Letter from a Hater.

Letter from a Fan: If you like them, you have to write a letter defending them from their haters, or if you think they don't have haters, tell them about their fan/s and that they're still remembered.

Letter from a Hater: If you hate them, you have to write a letter with endearments. You don't even have to not write about your hate for them. Just pepper everything with a lot of endearing terms. Be creative.

If you get lost, see my examples.

There will be a grand winner and a runner up for both categories. You do not have to join both to be qualified for judging, but you can't use the same letter for the two categories.

Dearest Assassin Vampire,

Howdy. Life's been so tough, eh? Sure is.

I mean, hate has been coming left and right since back then. Heh, I wasn't even there back then. But it's cool, ya know, doing stuff from really high places. I wanna get there myself. I want to feel the wind as it blows, adrenaline kicking in from the excitement and nervousness. What if I fall? Can I keep up at this altitude? Heh-heh. I doubt that you felt it the way I think it is, but I guess you know about it.

You attempted to kill Gambino quite a few times, already, haven't you? Geez. I wonder why a lot of people celebrate him. You're doing the world a favor. I mean, I heard about some of Gambino's secret things. I mean, some of his employees are missing. I'm sure you've heard of the zombie/grombie thing. He's stolen quite a number of husbands, wives, sons, daughters, and friends from their families, from their graves. Rude, man, rude. If he'll be staying dead this time, I'm glad. And I'd like to invite you for dinner.

But gee. What had the Don done to you? That's too horrible. Chained. I hate the feeling, too. Chained and tied down. I hate this feeling of helplessness. I hate being pitied for that too - if truly there was mercy, then they should've helped me and defended me. Tch. Heh.

I don't exactly hate you for Meili, though I don't like you for doing that either. But damn, am I glad you made it out alive.

I ended up talking about a lot of other things. This is probably annoying to you. But I don't mind. I'm rooting for you to win, after all. Edmund did a number on you. Well, this would be the first time you're killing someone out of your own will alone, wouldn't it? At least to my knowledge, that is. Some of them out there might be wanting Edmund to win. But oh, your voice is the loudest, every morning of my Gaian life, reminding me announcement after announcement of the state of my wardrobe, and inviting me (and my poor, poor wallet) towards La Victoire. Your voice, how it excites every fiber of my hate threshold! How my body itches to hurl itself into a frenzy in looking for a good murder weapon! I'm watching the wizard and his rabbit. The rabbit's hella rude. What's his problem? Sempai seems to like the wizard a lot. He likes clothes a lot more than people, though. But I'm watching, nonetheless. I'm watching.
But ah, that girl... Rina. I hate her a lot. Sempai is friends with that weirdo. She even influenced Sempai to follow in her footsteps. Good thing Sempai knew better than to spend her midnights browsing that shitty website. That girl Rina looks so creepy now, I don't even understand why people like her. I'm wondering why Rina can stomach all the food I send her, though. Must be because she cooks lethally as well, but not on purpose. Should I mix up my ingredients more?
But ah, Sempai's presence makes me want to forgive the rest of the world. They can destroy each other for as much as they want; I don't care. As long as Sempai is safe. As long as Sempai is my Sempai. Hah, even her relaxed breathing as she sleeps makes me feel relaxed too. It's so cute, her soft snores and her nightgown. Even her bed sheets. Her room might be a little messy, but it's still so cute and frilly and pink. It's so like her. Everything feels good; it calms me in my sleepless nights. Though I cannot sleep normally anymore, at least my heart is comforted by Sempai.
