I couldn't help myself after reading two well done little 'poems' I said 'Ya ok let's do this!' lol

It would lighten the mood around these parts to encourage freestyle forum rap battles. xd

I say it started far longer than a few months ago,
when all our forums began to trickle and cycle real slow
People began dipping out here and there and the culture was fractured
Some people believed it was cause the user body had matured
At first they gave different reasons, at first they cared
They couldn't keep up with all the strange items and the mods were scared
to enforce the rules that kept us all happy
kept the discourse quality high and the prommies snappy
But it was around the time of summer two-thousand and seven
when Gaia began courting Myspace users with narcissistic heaven
You could come here be a brat and load up on pixellated bling
They came in waves following the intense ad campaign
The forums swelled with new users unacquainted with the standard
The quality slumped but at least the loyalists had their items mastered
For awhile the artists, mini shops and traders thrived
Despite the new kind of forums the site seemed alive
Based on the gold economy we continued our work
Then a decision was made by some thoughtless jerk
That Gaia gold itself wasn't a good enough thing
And then we became acquainted with all the trouble Gaia Cash would bring

hmm my husband likes those rap battles, ok I'll give it a go, don't laugh unless your suppose to cause well I am no rapping ho. me thinks I'll give it a go

While it is true Gaia spammed Gaians with ads for myspace
The new ads didn't mess with the site, It was still an Ace
The poor witted new Gaians it did bring in
had no hair on there chinny chin chin
They messed up the forums with there total fails
They brought one liners to rps, but they did not bring the flash sales
They could not think of anything outside sex
but it is not there fault for this mess
The root of all evil in this site is clear
It's the greedy owners of Gaia who are to blame here

(lol show him this see what he thinks, even if he doesn't care about this site or about how sometimes it stinks)

Man you're telling me, you think your roleplay threads hit bottom?
Things were just as bad in Extended Discussion!
Once the tsunami of teenagers and their hormones hit our shores
Every social issue derailed and became simplistic bores
Us veteran formal debaters had to shelve all our fallacies
Our accrued knowledge was worthless to their sea of social disease
One-liners in ED were once warnable offenses
designated to General Discussion not belonging in our presence
Now the place we regs used to love slithers at a sloth's pace
If that sloth had cerebral palsy and a neck brace
Most of us simply found each other and migrated
to other sites and networks where our thoughts were appreciated

he did belong here once, but it wasn't his thing. In a non rap or whatever we made way. I do agree that Gaians themselves have fallen in standers. But I think part of that is to do with the fact there kids who's worlds revolve around themselves still. Not all teens are like that, not saying a grown up can't be that way either. I am just saying when your young it hard to think outside your world.I have said Gaia 'sister site' for grown ups is about selling sex, but that I believe to only be half true. The other reason is because the loyal members have grown up. We got kids, jobs, and money problems.Making a site where we can talk to each other like grown ups with out kids trolling us, cyber-sexing, and just being pains in are butts might of been the reason Gaia wanted to make a sister site. One for grown-ups and one for kids. The problem is this site filled with so much adult content it's not really the best places for kids to be anymore. It is at that place where you wonder if maybe Gaia should be making a site for kids and just let this one be the grown up site, while fixing the greed would have to happen. It seems wiser to start over on the kid factor.

I know what you're saying and where you're coming from
We are all adults, lead adult lives and like to c**
But whatever site they're making, whatever they think of
There are already hundreds of sites that specialize in our love of all that smut
While they fracture our nostalgia and tamper it with greed
We adults progress in life and address our special need
They want to ditch everything here and leave us in our strife?
Then I must suggest to you my friend the pleasure called Fetlife.

I moved on from Gaia for the most part
I use to get really flipping mad over the crap happening here
In the end I just found it was better to leave an I am not the only one
while I don't think i've heard of fetlife, I know rpg forums are a dim a dozen
What Gaia once had was a fair system with items, games, forums, towns, art/writing forums and such. Now they got smut, drugs, and blood to all be bought with gc

IRL Gekko

I dunno', I'm pretty okay with the situation. I can't particularly spend cash due to my financial situation, but I've never been too bothered by the constant adverts and stuff for items in the cash shop/ Been around since 2004 and I remember only buying 2 monthly collectables(what're they called now?). I guess it hasn't particularly affected me that much because I make use of a lot of the original features that've stayed free throughout the years and manage to socialize just fine.

I did see some suggestions I liked anyways though, just because I think it'd be cool.
— We'd like to know where the money we're spending is actually going. Is Gaia in trouble or is this for the sister site?
— Implement a graduated tax system in the Marketplace so that more expensive items are taxed more to better improve the gold sink.
— Implement a system where if users spend a certain amount of real life money, they receive a partial refund when Gaia bans the account for something other than profiting IRL from Gaia or threatening or other intense "crimes."
— Bring back the Gaia merchandise shop so users can spend their money on real items too, not just virtual ones.(I didn't even know they shut it down?!? That was the best thing!)
— Work on making more events available for everyone on an international level, not just US users. (I'm a big fan of equal opportunity for users worldwide)

Another one that might help the market place inflation is something Neopets and a few other similar sites had done:
~Use a bot to put a certain amount of certain items in the market place that matches the average price and when a user buys that item, that gold isn't released back in. Effectively making a goldsink within the marketplace.

I Agree. Gaia Cash Has Corrupted Gaia.
I Understand They Have To Make Money For Running Gaia, But Outrageous Priced Items With Gaia Cash.

The main problem is that Gaia is currently showing all symptoms of a site which will soon close down.
The number of active people was gradually decreasing anyways, but in the last half year they made sure that it goes towards the very bottom, now is like 20% what I remember as it's golden age. Members constantly complain about recolors and Flynn's Booty, but Gaia does everything backwards, now we have again a 12 days Recolora and Flynn always finds her way back into the shop, in a way that even Solid Snake would get jelly. So guess they milking out the remaining few as long they can. We have corporate capitalism, so what new?
I never added too much cash anyways, usually some leftover credits from my mobile which our stupid operator would nullify anyways after 3 months. So my loss is not really financial, more like I'm sad to see a community going slowly down which used by so lively that I could have given a example for other websites. But if this going the current way, I pack my things and maybe that few euros will find a better place on Steam sales where at least I get some real stuff instead some buggy flash games.

The suggestions of members are really good and they would work, but looks like nobody from above gives a damn anyways. So why should I?

This reminds of the words written by "YukiKuriKoneko" while the site was down:

"To those that are wondering, I'll throw some information into the pot. Lanzer sold Gaia to a Chain Company well known for sucking sites dry then spitting them out for lower end companies to play with. Only 1 or the original Admins remain. This is why Gaia's been pushing sales every single day.
From my understanding the last remaining Admin is being used to assist in running Gaia since they know the site better and they only need 1 person to do this job. Unless Lanzer buys Gaiaonline back, the odds of Gaiaonline's survival all depends on how deep our pockets are and the company it ends up being picked up by.
"

If what this person was saying is true, then we're in for some trouble in the future.

Shy Gaian

I have decided to not buy gaia cash.
I agree. I miss the old gaia cash shop myself when everything wasn't so effing expensive. :/ It was nice then. Now there's items you have to buy them for 30-200 dollars it's insane. Virtual items aren't all that. You can't really have them in reality so there's no point in buying gaia cash. I mean $10-20 to support is fine but anything higher is just ridiculous to me. You should buy things with your money that you actually NEED. Like clothes, food, saving it for retirement, ect. Not something you can never have in real. They're just pixels that's it. Putting on clothes and hair on your mini avatar... Why do you honestly need to buy with real money on that.
And I like the fact IMVU has something to do with this cause they're just as bad with money as here. It's not really a rivalry in my opinion. And Habbo? Yeah right even I don't like that avatar site. It's block avatars and it's really not appealing to me to even play. They should worry more about other avatar sites then these two.
IMVU and Habbo sucks to me. IMVU used to be a nice community when I first started then bam haha now it's the worst community in avatar history. I bet many people can agree with me even the ones who still go on it ^-^

So I sign this ^-^

Dangerous Lunatic

I've watched a fair amount of sites/games die. If it's not because the site simply cannot continue (can be from a variety of reasons), even if it is popular, it's usually because the people running it or people who have come to own it stopped/never started listening to the community and continued to kept on forging down whatever highly unpopular path they took. Which inevitably leads to it's ultimate demise.

Newbie Noob

wtf are you talking about 99%? its a damn avatar website.

Stone-cold Genius

The Elrics are on your side! It's about time we stood up and stopped this bullshit from continuing. Do you really think kids everywhere aren't using their parent's credit cards to buy virtual items on this site, Gaia? Well, they are and you should be very ashamed of yourselves for using children like this. Keep fighting the good fight everyone!
