Put a time limit between votes. The current format can be easily botted.

oh god.. please don't do this. i promise you, i'm not voting for gold. i really want to vote on as many avatars as possible, and this week i was repeatedly temp banned because i was going too fast. sweatdrop

part of the problem (right now) is that if you look at the tabs, there's no way to tell if you've voted on an avatar or not. and if you're going through the "random selection" voting, you're frequently shown avatars that you've already voted on. this means numerous page loading to find "new" avatars.

quite honestly, i'm in favor of removing gold awarded for voting in the arena. you can spam in the forums for gold and (although annoying) it isn't a huge deal. but spamming the arena with mindless votes severely harms the entries. and while spam can be removed once it's made, spammed votes cannot be separated out.

Removing voting gold sounds ideal over putting a timer between votes. Also, adding a Captcha to arenas, as it was in the old ones.

What I would like to see is Randomization of avis again.

Back in the old arenas, the spotlight people were always different, and this gave everyone a fair chance to be found and rated. But now that the same ones are always in teh spotlight, it makes it downright impossible to get to the others, which really isn't fair to them to be shoved in a corner of the arenas only to never be seen.

So, randomize who shows up to try and vote on please?
i would love to see how many votes i've received. if everyone who votes on me can see how many ratings i have, why can't i see it too? ^_^

Suggestions:
*Tabs for people who have:
-Under 50 votes
-Over 5000 votes
*Winners must have over 200-500 votes to qualify to win.

I like the idea of the random window being biased to those who haven't had any votes. Random shifting could still allow some to fly through, however unlikely.

Also, could you please consider bringing back the "view random avatar" button. I liked being able to reshuffle them if I kept getting shown ones I had already voted on.

Oh, one of the times I voted I ended up on the world map screen. I don't know how it happened, it was bizarre!

Agreed.
Under 5000 votes? That'd have EVERYONE in it, then.

If we withdraw before the next week starts, we get no refund. We are supposed to have refunds. Practically tradition.

I agree with the number of votes thing. I myself have had nothing but positive reviews from people who have voted, yet because my vote count is so low it's unlikely that I'd get any recognition. But a popular avatar with hundreds of votes of course will be in the top 10. And the ones that get the most votes are always the ones from popular anime.

No bias. Randomization. Maybe there's a slight refractory period in between so that the randomization doesn't bring up the same entries in different configurations...
Definitely for randomization again. A very even, non-biased randomization. And captcha to stop bots. And if you could, cut down the load time for house, please, somehow?

There is a report system in the Arena for reporting misplaced avatars. Underneath each submission is a "Report Post" link which can be used to report an avatar that is in incorrect category so it can be moved.

The report form could do with a tweak, currently the form is about reporting art never mind what you are reporting.

Quote:

This form is to report a violation of the Gaia Online Terms of Service or Art Arena Rules. Types of violations include, but are not limited to, things like inappropriate content, stolen artwork or illegal activities.

Just need to take out the Art bit, it might be what is confusing people as to what they are reporting on. EDIT - actually that quote is on all the report forums : /

3.99 glitch example:

Week 47 my avatar was in the lower end of the top ten (kept hovering between 8-9) when the avatar arena shut down unexpectedly. Week 47 only has 7 original winners listed. It seems that any avatars that have an average of 3.99 and under will not appear in the final top ten even if they have a rank.

This is screeny is only viewable by me as it's in the "My Stuff" section of the Arena.

The main gripe about the new Avatar Arena, as opposed to the older Arena, is the lack of randomization of avatars when voting and the static popular tab. The older arena was randomized when voting, the hot avatars at the side circled between those that had just been voted/commented on, those that had not been viewed recently and those who were in the top 100.

The current set up is leading to a very unbalanced way of voting, leaving some entries with little or no votes by the end of the week and others having hundreds.
I just want to point something else out that I think will really mae a difference.
We DEFINITELY need new/active mods in the Arena Forums and the Arena itself.
Even with us reporting threads and enteries, nothing will be done without mods.
Stop recording votes after 3 votes from the same IP address on a single entry to prevent people from busting out a bazillion mules to downvote said entry?
