Yep. By this point, it's safe to assume they're not going to address it any more than they already have (i.e., the post from Zero acknowledging the purchase by staff mule, which may or may not have been authorized from his higher ups), and are now just waiting for us to get distracted by something else and forget the whole thing. (That's how they work.)

I'm hoping this has at least hurt them in some way.

They've had a sale going for gcash constantly since news broke of this, so obviously something is happening. I know I refuse to buy any cash anymore, even though I wasn't a very big buyer in the first place.

I would possibly consider it again, IF they ever fessed up to this s**t and gave us a real explanation as to what they were thinking and what's going on behind the curtain.

I find this all really fishy tbh and I am so looking forward to the opening of another place where I can hopefully have fun again. It might not be an avatar site but it talks about treating it's members with respect. Quite honestly this site has nothing for me but the items. I'm even getting tired of SF.

I will probably just come here to bump this thread up since users need to know that once again the staff pulled a scandal. I wish you all luck with the future of Gaia because unless management changes, it's a sinking ship.

I-I would just like to mention that I agree with it being strange about the 2 year silence, b-but it's taken me weeks to have the courage to even post in this thread. Not only that, but sometimes I've gone on a break or I'll come back and try and sell things to compensate for the increase in prices. (Even though my posts show more recent activity, it's more-so in the event threads and random bumping/emoticons than years ago where there were large gaps and I was actually posting text). I'm more of a lurker (Lately) than a poster. Even though I'm trying to get that 10,000 post achievement... ~sigh~

I guess I've always been more of a chatter in the PMs and Comments on my profile. I'm trying to talk more, but people are scary!

Still though, 2 years and then LOLLOOKWINGS is way more than just a little strange. Someone might need to check and see if they are buying or selling components to be making them in the first place. Not that you have to in the MP, but buying to infinity and beyond caches on your own and doing all of that instead of short-cutting a FEW things in the MP would take a lot of effort.

As a side note, I'm trying SO HARD not to buy any GCash, especially because I'm not someone with funds or stable income, but a lot of those animal items lately have been really tempting... Especially because the inflation has gone absolutely crazy it seems like a better idea to buy it from the store than delving into the abyss that is the marketplace.

Do you guys think this is 90%+ of the reason of inflation? Or do you think that the GGs have more impact than we think? (I know it has some impact, but until this incident it was staying somewhat "stable." )

Oh, and I "LOL"ed when I saw them blatantly post the names. "We're not doing anything fishy! Honest!"

so, ive been considering doing this for awhile, and this thread seems a good as a place as any, so let me share my gaia 'story' of sorts and why whats going on with the staff is so important to me

i joined gaia a long, long time ago to play zomg with my friends. we were all poor, had boring, ugly outfits, and i was horrendously behind in zomg. eventually, the site we met on shut down, and we stopped talking.

later on, my friend asked me if i wanted to go on towns and screw around, find people cybering and that sort of thing. i said yes, and was added to a group chat with the people i would now go so far to as call my closest friends.

none of us took gaia particularly seirously, and all of us were rock bottom poor. i remember desperately wanting a hatofowl, but never being able to afford one.

at that time, a hatofowl was 40k.

later on, school overtook our lives, and we stopped coming on. around june or july, we came back, only to find prices through the roof. our small amount of money was even more worthless. my friend managed to get a hold of 10mil from a friend. with that, we were able to get very, very cheap cosplays for our avatars.

the rest of our money was earned through lucky dumpster dives, playing the market, and asking more fortunate friends for money.

at that time, pretty much everyone id met on gaia had been rude, elitist, and for a long time that was my view of the community.

the spirit of the summer event a few weeks ago was the only thing that convinced me otherwise. most everyone i spoke to was nice, someone tipped me 1.5bil in a requests thread, another comissioned me out of the blue for 4bil, and i started to feel an actual sense of community.

and then my friend linked me here.

gaia has a lot of teenaged users, some of which are admittedly kind of rude, but so much of the community is kind, welcoming people who have been supporting this site for a long time. and then something like this comes up - we find out theyve been manipulating the MP, all sorts of stuff.

as someone who has probably come across as a bit of a d**k in the past, it doesnt affect me as much. and i havent ever bought any GC and ive never planned to.

but the people who i've talked to, the gaians who totally changed my view of this site, have. theyre affected by this. theyve supported this site only to be kicked in the face. to the staff, it feels like everyone on this site, even the incredible people i met -- are just walking wallets without feelings.

its so sad to see all the people here, who are so let down, who are losing something so dear to them, who are realizing the way theyre viewed as nothing more than a walking dollar bill.

to anyone defending these actions -- there's a big difference between needing to make money and manipulating a young, naive userbase. gaia could easily make money just from monthly collectibles and bundles or even run some sort of kickstarter.

people love this site. people see this site as a big part of their lives. even if that's not me personally, it's absolutely heartbreaking to see those who feel so deeply attatched to gaia feel so manipulated and used.

to the staff, if they may be reading this -- please don't ignore your userbase. we arent wallets. we're people. and if you show some compassion, some general decency, and stop the lies --

then i think that a lot more people's wallets will start opening up.
