It isn't strange for a staff member to buy something on the MP. It happens all the time. It is strange however to buy something at such an exorbitant price.

I can see why someone would ask that. 133 tril is way out there. What's odd to me is that 133 tril doesn't seem to be a safe number to simply display an item anymore. So taking the seller out of the question, I'm left with more questions about the state of the economy and what's considered a safe number for display purposes?

What Menstrual Cramps is trying to say is that LicorSkein is a mule account for BlueAlaris, a staff member and artist. It could be that LicorSkein is just a good friend of Blue Alaris, but that's debatable.

It could be debatable. There are many people on his friends list, even regular users I recognize.

If LicorSkein is a staff member then they are taking away a chance to recolor an item from whatever general user would have bought that ticket otherwise. It's like the coach of a swimming team coming in at the last minute at taking the gold. Getting these tickets is a competition for the users not the staff.

I can see that. I think just so long as there is a clause stating that staff cannot interfere no matter what would make this a clear cut case, but only if it was proven that Licor is a mule.

That's because it is a harmful one. Yes, people have the right to buy whatever they like. It doesn't make that choice any less destructive.

Don't forget the worst part about it. Not only were the transactions itself obviously sketchy, but two admins (the staff mule and Zero Omega) tried to cover it up. The staff mule lied and said it was normal MP activity when it was first pointed out despite it being really obvious that it's not, Zero Omega also came into the thread stating they had investigated it and determined that the transactions were legitimate.

For people who don't know, it wasn't just the ticket. They also extremely overpaid (paid a trillion) for several other items including new items. That's direct manipulation of the ABP (I'm assuming to pressure people to buy when they see how much it sold for). Which is beyond awful. I'm pretty sure that's outright illegal since they're abusing staff power to influence sales.

You need to make sure you take proper proof of both of those statements because I bet they're going to delete them when they try to damage control the situation.

Butt Blush was rude, but she did have a point. You could buy a car with the amount of real world money you would have to sink into buying gold gens in order to amass 133 trillion gold.

That's not what I meant. I meant that a user buying something worth trillions of gold is more acceptable to me that an admin buying the same thing.

It took some good detective work definitely, but the spike in the marketplace was set everyone off. I wonder what Gaia thought when they thought to do something like that through the marketplace. Sure, no one will notice the giant spike. emotion_eyebrow

Which then leads me to believe that this whole situation was set up in their favor.. So a ban towards that account would honestly become the best situation for all of Gaia. A lot of items have already inflated dramatically since this ticket has been purchase. Angelic Halo went from a stable 1.5T into 4T in less than a week? It scares me to think what else is going to happen if this is just the start..

Yeah I was kind of thinking about that as well. But at the same time, in a way it would be hilarious to suddenly have so much gold you could actually buy every single item you'd want of the site.

I'm giving them the benefit of doubt, for now at least.

I don't know. I'm pretty sure the seller was not involved. She stated that she had put the ticket up at a ridiculous price to show it off and didn't expect anyone to buy it. 133 trillion seemed like a pretty safe price.
